"While I had little faith I could actually solve these mysteries, I had nothing else to do and about a billion dollars to do it with." (p.238)It took me a couple of chapters to get into the "vibe" of Murder Most Fancy, not yet having read its series predecessor, Heiress on Fire, which introduced the central duo of Indigo-Daisy-Violet-Amber Hasluck-Royce-Jones-Bombberg and her personal shopper / assistant, Esmerelda. At first, I'll admit that I found their feckless behaviour and the constant references to their designer accoutrements a bit irritating, until recognising it for the entertaining satire that it really is.
