“God has given me everything, but at the same time, taken everything away. I’m cursed.” Audre Smith
Audre Smith was born and raised by her grandparents in a quiet suburb of Little Rock, Arkansas. For Audre, life is great as it can be, until the night of her high school graduation, when she escapes a near death situation, but her grandparents are not so lucky.
After being shunned and blamed for the death of her grandparents, Audre packs up everything she has left and moves to a city she knows nothing about. Years later, she’s now in Florida and is living a quiet life, fearing that God has cursed her because the couple of men that she has entertained have tragically left her life. Audre has finally settled into her life of being alone, until Atraio Coleman stumbles into her life.
A reformed thug, Atraio Coleman was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, but spent the better part of his life in the Marines, until a freak accident caused him to be medically discharged. While trying to adjust back to civilian life, he gets back with his high school sweetheart, Chelsea Turner, hoping that she can bring some normalcy to his life, but she does everything but that, and it leaves him being a single father.
Atraio and Audre met by chance, but it didn’t go as planned because neither were looking for anything special, but the chemistry between the two is undeniable. When Audre feels herself falling for Atraio, she starts to pull back, not wanting him to get hurt or killed because of the curse she feels like she has. Will Atraio let Audre push him out of her life, or will he fight to show her that he is the one that was made to love her?
Audre has done her best to carry and live by the words her mother instilled in her growing up…. “Whatever God takes away from you, you don’t need it anyway”. Well to say that PLENTY has been taken from Audre would be an understatement. From birth she was dealt a sh*tty hand and while some would envy the life she had, Audre didn’t always see it that way. Her childhood had her questioning her worth on multiple occasions and left her bitter more than she cared to admit! After being blamed for a tragedy that was beyond her control the night of her high school graduation, she fled the only home she’s ever known and figured a fresh start would be just what the doctor ordered. Boy was she wrong! Audre continued to suffer loss after loss to the point where you couldn’t convince her that she wasn’t cursed by God. Despite all the good she did and the heart of gold she had, life just continued to life for her and she spent many days depressed af!
Atraio “Tray” Coleman had to grow up early after the military life claimed his fathers life. Once his benefits ran out, it was up to Tray to help his mother bring in a steady income to support her and his siblings. Tray began to make money the fast way and we all know that this route almost always has consequences that will have you hemmed up. Faced with the decision of either joining the Marines or 8-10 in prison, Tray chose wisely. Sadly after devoting 16 years to the Marines he is honorably discharged 4 years shy of his pension and other benefits. Going back home and adjusting to civilian life proved to be more challenging than Tray anticipated especially when he came home to snake behavior at the hands of his family.
Drama drama drama!!!!!!! Tray and Audre took me on a JOURNEY!!! I mean it was always something happening with them and not just little stuff!! The saying anything worth having is worth fighting for was definitely Tray and Audre!
While this book started out EXTREMELY strong, it flatlined a time or two which is why it wasn’t the 5 star read it could’ve been! Reading this book was like an EKG machine! You had high spikes of drama, deception, hands being thrown and then lows where you didn’t quite understand the purpose a scene served. There was A LOT to unpack when it came to Audre! The layers were many but every single one was revealed before the story ended!
The supporting characters and their storylines definitely added value to the book! I absolutely LOVED Lamar! Huron and Porschea’s storyline was a hot mess but I found myself wanting more from them! We were for sure left hanging with them! This was a solid read overall and I would recommend adding it to your TBR.
Still shaking my head! This whole crew is cray-cray!!!!
However, I really admire Audre's courage to keep going even when she was convinced that GOD hated her. Why? Because the people she loved the most kept, being snatched out of her life.
Nevertheless, Audre refused to let that jealous and evil Serene get the best of her and went on to create a beautiful family with Tray, Lamar and those two beautiful little girls.
Awesome story but it really needed an editor, to correct the errors that often interrupted the flow.
Mentally, I was not prepared to read this one but I kept coming back to this story until I finished. ❤️ In this stand-alone, we are introduced to Audre and she had gone through every heartbreak imaginable. From losing her parents, being accused of a horrific crime, and issues with fertility, etc. She touched my heart because even through the turmoil she never gave up hope on becoming a mother and helping others. When Audre meets Tray, I knew she would give him a tough time but Tray was persistent. He showed Audre that she deserved love and he helped her to face her past. Tray was just amazing!! I loved everything about him. ❤️We also met Huron and Porschea (Tae) and I will say, I was so disappointed in Huron 😩🤣I wanted to knock some sense into him but whatever. I feel that Tae will find true love. She’s already dealt with an issue with domestic violence, I hope we get a story on her!! ❤️ Overall, I enjoyed this one. As I said, it took me a while to get through it but it was not due to the lack of interest. Mentally I just couldn’t take some of the topics but once I got past that, I was eager to finish this one and I am truly glad that I did. My fave always does a great job with her storytelling and I cannot wait to see what is next.
I loved this story! I have missed your talents and I am so happy you are back. I can only imagine the battle you’ve survived. But what’s meant for you, is for you❤️
This story was so good and I really enjoyed reading it. For some reason amazon doesn't post my reviews but goodreads does so whatever, the book was good!
To start... yessss Bianca!!! Naw for real, there is sooo many layers to Audre that I loved. She was smart, funny loving and most definitely a fighter. I loved how she stepped down on that family of hers when she went to Little Rock. There was hints there but to see her in action had me looking at her in a different light. Tray came into her life when she had given up on love but he didn't let her get away. When it was time for him to do what needed to be done he showed up. I loved the consistency from them both. Now Tae and Hu had my blood pressure up but I loved them as well. Tae wasn't letting Hu get away with doing stupid stuff to her but he had a way of making her lower her guard but I am glad she didn't let up. Now I liked them together, they are funny and have a connection but Hu need to get it together first before trying to get with someone else. He is not fully done with his wife and he knows it. We have to get a book for them because it seems like all of them are well in their rights to act they way they are but some things needs to be sorted out. I didn't even read the synopsis all I knew was that one of my favorite authors has released a book and I am supporting no matter what. I already knew it would be a good read.
This was a really good story. Very well written, great storyline and character development. Audre has dealt with so much pain and heartache that she felt she was a walking curse. Sure she had the money to do whatever she wanted but that wasn't what she yearned to have. All she wanted was happiness and a family. Lamar and Trey were perfect pieces to her puzzle and im glad they brought her out of her negative space. I was happy she gave therapy a try to get the closure and truth she needed from her parents to move forward at building a relationship with them and her siblings. Serene was just bitter and it definitely was her loss not getting to know Audre. Thank god Chelsea has moved on. Overall great read and a beautiful ending for the main character.
For this to be such a long book it actually had a nice pace to it. I typically skim through irrelevant parts of a book. However, I did not with this one even though Audree worked my nerves. Talking about cray-cray. I was actually surprised Tray fell so hard for her but he was a great guy. Also you know what they say about crazy girls…they have the best nookie. Now Huron was book bae. I loved the chemistry he had with Porschea. I would love to see this couple get a spin-off. All in all, it was a good storyline with even better characters. Little Lamar stole the show.
I've missed Bianca soooo much lol!!!! Tray came in and showed Audre the love that she desired, deserved, and needed. I was so happy when she finally allowed him to love her. I wanted to pop Serene for her throughout the whole book, i promise I was getting licks in when Audre was whooping her butt😁 Chile Huron and Porshea had me going through it, too.Baby both couples had me ready to cry for different reasons. Huron and Porshea's story can't be over, I hope he gets on Bianca's last nerve to get his story told. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐worth more than 5!! Welcome back!!
Welcome back, Bianca. This story of Audra was so dang relatable. This could be anyone. Audra was a broken women who didn't have the love from her biological family, the lost of boyfriends and to think she would never have kids. Tray stepped in right on time and showed her true love and support. I love there family that they made. Now, Bianca you do know you need to give Huron and Porschea their story. I feel they are back together. They are truly a moth to a flame. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you.
This book had a lot to unpack in it and in some places it almost seemed to be too much. Audre’s family dynamics was like a Jerry Springer episode, crazy. You couldn’t help but love Audre and despise Serene. Tray was an awesome dad and good person despite what others did to him but he wasn’t a push over. Everyone needs a friend like Porschea and I need a book for her because I feel her and Huron have unfinished business. In the end I was glad to see so many of the characters get the healing they had been needing.
You have a new follower. I currently live in North Little Rock, but I’m from Helena West Helena. I look forward to reading more of your books. Even though Huron love Tae, I still felt like he played with her feelings and should have left her alone until he was fully divorced from his stupid wife. Audre and Tray were meant to be, but Audre had a lot of hurt that she needed to let go of. I’m glad that things worked out for her in the end even though her mama can catch these hands.
This was good at the beginning but ended up getting a little bit boring at the end. I mean Lamar stayed perfect while I thought Tray became too soft. Porshea became a little bit too gullible while Huron was just nasty worst than a female. My girl Audre was perfect at the beginning but I didn’t like how she was being pressured to forgive or whatnot… Anyways I thought it was ok. Wonder if Huron will finally be up front and faced his reality.
This book was so good! At first I was skeptical because it just started of tragic and depressing. That didn’t last too long. I understand she had to build the characters. It was hot, and real life. I don’t like reading romance that seems too far fetched. This was more realistic.
However, Ms. Ma’am. What you mean Huron isn’t getting a story? Don’t do us like that. I thought I was going get a happily ever after from them. How you just going to leave them both in unfulfilled relationships? You breaking my heart 💜
I really enjoyed this book. Audre has really been through some things in her life and it's sad when her family, mainly her biological mother was at the front of the chaos. Serena should be ashamed of herself but I'm glad that her dad and brothers wanted to build a relationship with her. All this was possible because she had Trai, her soon to be husband pushing her to be a better person and letting go of past hurt. I really hope Huron gets a story because I really didn't like that he gave his wife a second chance.💓💓
This was full, satisfying read. Deeper than I expected, like getting to the center by pulling back one layer at a time. Once I realized that, I just sat back and enjoyed the journey. Would love to hear from Porshea! Does life lead her back to Huron or will Alphonse be just what she needs? I love to see people win so either would work for me! Great job Bianca❤️
I really enjoyed this story. It was so much going on, stuff so many of us deal with and it made you think about how anger shapes our life. I'm so happy for Tray and Audre's HEA. It was well deserved. Serene, Chelsea, & Marina were just bitter women and didn't want to see anyone else happy. I just need a conclusion to Porshea and Huron's story and all will be well. Welcome back Bianca!
I love this story. I love a good love story and you always come through. It was so raw and emotional, I felt every one of Audre’s feelings. I’m so glad she got out her own way and was able to let Tray love her and have that baby. I have to agree with Huron though, I don’t think his story is over🤭. I think he can still get it together and be with Porschea. I am so glad you are back!!!!!
I'm so glad I'm able to read your work of art again. Your writing style is versatile and amazing. This book kept me glued to every page. I love a good standalone but umm I'm like Huron... can you finish his dysfunctional ass story lol. I would love to read what it has to say. I also want to know how Tae divorce goes with that crazy wife of hers. I'll be waiting all 2022 for the up date 😉
So happy to be reading your work again! You are one of my favorites. You’re such a great writer. This book was beautiful, it delved deep into life after losing loved ones. The heartache and pain of traumatic things that you deal with as kids that could last through adulthood and how hard it can be to get back to yourself. Also showed growth and how love and forgiveness can help you to heal. I loved it! A wonderful read! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book so good. It had all the feels in it. I'm so happy for Tray and Audre. Serene is definitely sick in the head. Audre ran and ran until Tray locked that one down. She needed him more than she knew. So glad her and her family reconnected. This can't be the end of Huron and Tae. They definitely have unfinished business. Huron wife is crazy why stay when he don't want you. Please please please give us a book on them.
First this book deserves more than 5 stars! I absolutely loved this book and everything about the characters. I need more about Porschea because I was really rooting for her and Huron, but who knows maybe Tray brother may catch her attention because I don't know about this Reggie guy. Also, it'll give a chance to catch up with fav couple Audre and Tray. Bravo on this awesome book!!
This was an enjoyable and easy read. It had a strong opening. Audre is put in a situation(s) that brought her pain repeatedly. One could say that the trauma and pain was preparing her to appreciate her future blessings. Tray was a solid counterpart with some traumas of his own to work through. I loved the supporting characters, the backstories and the flow of the romance. I can't day that I wouldn't love a story focused in Alphonse, Porshae & Huron. Good read.
Audre went through so much in life. Tray came in and loved her and showed her to trust and love herself. Her kids were a big help with that as well. Porschea was a great friend to Audre. They both had gone through a lot. Porschea fell hard for Huron, but he couldn't get his relationship straight with his wife. This was an amazing read.
This title fits perfectly for Tray and Audree 💖 I felt for Audree because just when it seemed like all was well in her world the author made sure to keep you on your toes 🤣🤣 you will enjoy this story because it packs just the right amount of emotion, drama, and 🔥🔥🔥. Definitely a great read, happy reading!
OMG I was on the edge of my chair for most of this book, hoping things would turn around for Audre! Serene was wrong and she knew it. I'm so glad Tray didn't give up on her. I hope there's another book that tells Huron and Porshae's story! This author never disappoints me!
I've read all of your books and although you're switching it up it's a good switch. I love Tray for Audree.....she needed a love like his to gain her Faith in life again. I like Huron for Porschea but I'm not sure what he's going through so hopefully you'll do a follow-up with them. Overall this was a great read and I can't wait for the next one.
This was soooo good! Omg i could not put it down! The heartbreak audre had to go through really took me through it, but Tray showed up and lead her to be better for herself which was so beautiful! Now Porscha and Hu lordddd they gave me a headache so sad they couldn’t get it together
This book was amazing. You will love Audre and Tray and the supporting characters. Tray did not give up on Mrs stubborn. I loved Huron and Porshea together but he dropped the ball. We definitely need their story. Hurry and 1 click you will not be disappointed.
Let me start off by saying how I very much enjoyed this book. At times it could be emotional, funny, and aggravating. That Audrey really tested my nerves on many occasions with her overthinking and decision making. Porschea and Huron deserve their own story and I’m definitely here for it.
