Amateurs in Love #2

Taming the Player

Rate this book
It was only supposed to be one night. But one night turned into two, and before they knew it, those two nights became every night.

Sierra thought that she had it all figured out. Back before Braden started throwing wrenches in her perfect plans and inserting himself into parts of her life that he had no business being involved in. With that familiar, arrogant grin, he dug himself under her skin too far to be pulled out. But that was before he let her go. Before he broke whatever they had spent months building together.

Braden wasn’t expecting to fall in love with her. And he definitely wasn’t expecting to sit back and let her move across the country without him, heartbroken and alone. Now she’s gone, and Braden has some making up to do.

Three weeks later, Sierra has thrown herself back into her work, trying to forget about him. She didn’t think that she would see him again, let alone find him waiting for her on the roof of her new apartment. But there he is, and he wants a second chance. He wants to start over.

Is it possible for a broken heart to ever fully heal? And if it can, will it ever grow to be as strong? With their future a giant question mark, can they make it work this time?

This book was supposed to be a second chance romance? Yet the couple gets together in chapter 3 or 4, has no real conflict, have a baby in chapter 19 or 20. And again no real plot. The book isn't evenly spaced out and I just don't know what is the reason for this book?? The smut scenes are just mediocre and AGAIN WHAT'S THE PLOT??? I am so sorry if I offended the author but seriously woman where is the climax of the book? The conflict? The character development? Where are they and did none of the ARC or beta readers point this out to her? You guys did her so dirty.

I would have accepted the cheating trope of death trope or ow/om conflict. Give me something. Literally it was all just people being happy and that's fine but ITS BORING ASF. The dialogues are weird and her writing reminds me of bad fanfic stories I used to read *shudders*

Regretting my life decisions.

Sierra & Braden have a… meet fight? In a club one night, they have a little tiff but end up going home together. And that starts a friends with benefits situation that put me on a rollercoaster the entire time I was reading.

At the end of book 1 I was ready to shake Braden and scream and cry because he MESSED UP SO BADLY. But book 2’s second chance set up was just so perfect (and definitely my fav of the 2!) Braden is possessive, obsessive, and redeemed himself perfectly in book 2. Sierra is strong fmc, which is my absolute fav. I also am obsessed with the fact she didn’t give up her career for a MAN 💅

Read if you like
✨ friends with benefits
✨ reformed playboy // boy obsessed
✨ groveling
✨ second chance
✨ strong fmcs
✨ accidental pregnancy

ngl i skim read this book. i still want to know why the author chose to write a second book. the smut didn’t improve and it was just meh. sorry but i refuse to believe people acc enjoyed this. it was so dead and yh no words. also i have seen around that this author doesn’t like constructive criticism and gets offensive quite quickly, but it’s an opinion. many authors deal with these everyday. also i wished fighting was displayed more and the whole reality and there was raw scenes of it and just more to this theme that has great potential, it’s a shame. braden and sierra aren’t significant to me at all, i really wished this had more.

btw don’t come attacking me!

**this review contains spoilers for Craving the Player so please don't continue if you haven't read book one!!**

firstly i would just like to say a huge thank you to Queen Hannah herself for picking me to be one of her ARC readers. this was one of my most anticipated reads for 2022 after finishing CTP and i was honored to receive an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

i finished this book in one sitting yesterday and i had to sleep on it to try and formulate a useful review because this entire book just gripped me by the heart and consumed me.

Taming the Player picks up right off from the last moment in Craving the Player where as we know, Braden massively fucked up and wallowed in self pity for a lil while before shaking his head on straight and high tailed to Toronto to chase after his dream girl.

Sierra - although she's had bad experiences in her past with people once closest to her breaking her heart - she always remained a strong-minded, determined, career focused, badass woman that we all fell in love with.

"Sierra isn't the type of woman who needs a man. If she doesn't think I'm worth it, she'll toss me out on my ass with both her middle fingers raised."

reading how hollow and heartbroken she is at the beginning of this book, and how she doubts most things she says and does and starts to curl into herself, really broke my heart for her. however, through some new surprises thrown her way, she develops into an even stronger woman and she is truly inspiring.

besides his mistakes in CTP, i really didn't think i could love Braden more but DAMN. Braden's character growth in this book is indescribable, there is no word i could use to bring it or Hannah's writing to justice. everything he feels is so raw and emotional, it had me sobbing. from the first "hey there, my little fighter." at the beginning of this book, this man owned his mistakes and G R O V E L L E D.

he was a perfect gentlemen, respecting Sierra's space while continuously doing and saying the littlest things that really proved his love. i love how in tune he is with Sierra's emotions, he knows her needs before she has to say anything and goes above and beyond to help no matter the situation, and also helps Sierra battle her insecurities.

we meet some amazing new characters in this book that i definitely hope we see more of in the future and i'm praying a certain new fine specimen *cough* Mack *cough* gets his own book. it was also so incredibly heart warming to be reunited with some of our faves from Hannah's SH series, and have Gracie treat Sierra like her sister. these girls melt my heart.

oh, and we all need a big sister like Clare to intimidate your 6 and a half foot, built like a brick shithouse boyfriend for breaking your heart. i loved this sister/acting father moment too much and was giggling the entire time.

this was the perfect ending to Braden and Sierra's story and i want to sob thinking about letting them go. this will absolutely become one of my all time favourite comfort reads.

Hannah - you are absolutely incredible and your writing never fails to amaze me!

Do you know why I’m not okay? Because their story is finally over. I fell in love with these characters for many reasons. How real they are, how hard they love. Omg, everything is *Chefs kiss* I literally fell in love with everything. You can tell the author put her heart and soul into every single line. I could go on and on about this book. Braden’s character growth *mind blown* it’s incredible. Sierra was a strong baddie, like always. THE BABY.
When book 1 ended, I was sad I didn’t have this book to read immediately after. Now I feel whole again. I’m so happy with the ending. I love, love, love this book.

Reasons why you should read this book:

1) Hannah (the author) writes like a best-selling author.

2) Braden is a sexy boxer… no need to say more.

3) SMUTTY with a plottt.

4) Sierra screams girl power.

5) A protective daddy…

6) It will make you believe in unconditional love.

"I can't help but feel like I wasted so much of my life being without you."

Finallyyy! The cliffhanger from Craving The Player had me crying. I am so thankful to have received an ARC of Taming The Player from Hannah Cowan.

Y'all... I was so excited to read the conclusion of Sierra and Braden's story. The character growth. The spice. The happy ever after. All 10/10 from me. Braden was giving me ALL THE BUTTERFLIES and had me swooning left and right. 🦋💓

I am so glad Hannah made this a duet. I felt like we got way more time with our main couple and the issues our characters came across were resolved fairly quickly. I really enjoyed seeing how far they'd come from their first interaction in Book 1. Their HEA was *chef's kiss*.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the Swift Hat Trick Series before since there are interconnecting characters & storylines. Now I can't wait for the release of Vital Blindside, Swift Hat Trick Series Book 3, later this year.

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Welcome to Taming The Player, the beautiful and sexy ending to Braden and Sierra's story. (Yes unfortunately you heard it right. It's the end of their era 🥲)

Not going to lie. I had my expectations low for this book. Only because I was kind of in a slump (thankfully got out of it) and I started disliking my favourite books 😭 But f*ck this book just blew my mind!

Hannah's writing style is something that always fascinates the f*ck outta me, which one of the major reason why she's one of my favourites! So of course, chef kisses to the writing style of this book! The character sketches and growth was something I really looked forward to in this book and the author definitely did not disappoint m e with that! I adore each and every character of this book, especially Clayton and Lana (yes I love her and yes Braden needs to be chill with her 🤣)!!!

And the smuts 🥵 OMG I was literally sweating buckets! It was so freaking hot and sëxy and damn can I have a dirty talking Braden Lowry for me please? Thank you ✋🏼

And baby shower!!!! I love this author for including that scene! Omg it was so freaking cute 😭

As always, this book is a freaking masterpiece! It was such a beautiful conclusion to Braden and Sierra's story that I might have shed some tears. I feel sad now that their story is end but lemme tell you one thing, it was freaking worth it! ♡

I said this once and I'm saying this again, Clayton's mine so everybody back off!

This is the conclusion to Braden and Sierra’s duet! This one picks up with them eventually finding their way back to each other after the breakup in the first book. Braden realizes he can’t be without Sierra and makes sure she knows it.

Of course, things get interesting when Sierra finds herself staring a positive pregnancy test.

I enjoyed this one more than the first book in the duet. It was nice seeing these two get on the same page, as well as navigate the pregnancy now that they’re back together.

I can’t wait to read about their son in His Greatest Muse!

Finally! The book I have been desperately waiting for!! This has been the book I’ve been waiting for since forget it feels like
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this!

TTP picks up right from the moment CTP left us. When I tell you this book didn’t disappoint.. it didn’t, I was in love with this one more than the first!!

Braden…Braden his character development from the first book was amazing and the growth of these two characters growing again together was done so well.

This is all I hoped and wishes for their story to end like this 🥺

This has definitely become one of my favourites and my comfort book..

This is the second book in the Amateurs in Love duet, and the final book in Braden and Sierra’s story. To put it simply, this book is everything that I’d hoped it would be to conclude their story.

One of the things I love most in books is character development. We all do, right? Right. But there’s a difference between simply writing the characters’ development and actually proving it through the writing. Hannah did an impeccable job of that through Braden’s character. I’ve always loved him, and even when he made a stupid mistake out of fear, I still did. But seeing him change for her was absolutely beautiful and it made me love him even more, if that’s possible.

And miss Sierra… people seriously underestimate her. She’s struggling with a lot, and trust isn’t easy for anyone to earn back after being burned. However, Sierra also knew how hard it was for Braden to admit his feelings. I appreciate the fact that she didn’t just let him back into her bed and took it slow, and also on his end with the respect for her. And his reaction to her pregnancy? Hit me in the best way possible. Sierra is the definition of a mom boss, and I’m seriously happy with how she grew into herself.

These two characters are still the Braden and Sierra we all loved in CTP, but there’s also a world’s difference to them as well. They’re mature, grown up, and who they’re meant to be. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending for these two. Boss mom, swoon-worthy, ovary-exploding Daddy Braden moments, the happy ending they deserved.

If you like one-night-stands turned more, reformed playboy, surprise pregnancy, touch her and I’ll end you vibes, and both heartwarming and humorous moments, then this duet is for you. I will never not recommend Hannah or any of her books. You won’t steer wrong with her. I highly recommend this duet, and I’m thankful to have been blessed with an early copy.

Braden and Sierra are not looking for love when they agree to a FWB arrangement. Part 1 is them being annoying and living in denial. Part 2 is where we get all the swoonery! They worked all my nerves in Craving the Player anticipating each other’s thoughts instead of communicating. They fit together so well but both refused to be truly vulnerable. We spent the whole book 1 just watching them unnecessarily get in their own way!

Part 2 is where they got me. I actually enjoyed the idea of falling backwards, unconventional but genuine. Braden was a completely different person and the journey to Tiny was exactly what we needed! They were still heavy in the spice but I liked how present the family was, their friends. Braden’s budding bromance with Mack was an interesting element.. the alleyway is a top tier Braden moment! I actually liked the characters in this part so I’ll give it a 4 star!

OMG!!!
First, I want to thank my queen Hannah for choosing me as a beta reader for this book. BECAUSE Braden and Sierra are superior.
∞/5
So this book starts where the last one ends, with the scene on the rooftop. Braden decided to join his little fighter in Toronto and start a new life. I don't want to tell too much about the book because it'll maybe spoil some details of the first book. Just take my words, go pre-order this book to read it.
Braden and Sierra own my heart, I read the book in one sitting, they caught me from the first line to the last. One of the tropes that this book has is so beautifully written, so awhhhhh, so good. I'm just saying DADDY BRADEN. All those who read the first book will enjoy a scene with Braden and mystery Mr. M, this scene is soooo hot and so pleasing This book is happy, funny, cute, sweet and spicyyyyy.I can't wait for the epilogue. I can't wait for the next books. I can't wait for y'all to meet some characters.
Speaking of character, I need a book about Mr. Mackenzie, SIRRRRR I'd sell my kidney for you, where can I find you ? Are you on Amazon?

Anyway, go read CTP, and go pre-order TTP. and go read all Hannah's books

I didn’t love this one. I don’t understand why this needed to be a duet rather than just making one book for Sierra and Braden. This one was supposed to be a second chance romance but they got back together so early on in the book. We also get the accidental pregnancy trope in this one which I did enjoy. Overall this was a super quick listen as an audiobook and I did enjoy this more than the first one but it’s not a favourite of mine.

Better than Amateurs in Love Book 1

I am not a very good book reviewer so I’ll do my best. Some of the moments of the book were enjoyable but others were so cringey. The ending was better than the other books of this series but still had a very predictable ending. Braden’s character was toxic level Clingy. It became an obsessive level. But I finally enjoyed his character by the end.

i didn’t love sierra and braden’s duet as much as i did hannah’s other works, but it was still cute (and steamy) nonetheless. i enjoyed going back into this universe, and grew to love braden so much more in this book compared to the first one!

i AM however super excited to read claytonsophie, claremax, and mackgretchen’s stories 👀

I’ve been waiting for this! The conclusion to Braden and Sierra’s story is finally here and I loved it.

After Craving the Player left me hanging, I can say that the wait was worth it. The character development, the spice, the filthy mouth belonging to Braden Lowry and Sierra Casters badassery were all present and accounted for.

“I’m the only man you’ll ever refer to as DILF again. Got that, little fighter?”

This was so, so good!! Go read Craving the Player now and then dive into this. It’s the perfect ending for a perfect pairing.

This is the second installment in Sierra and Brayden’s story.

The first book left us off with Brayden realizing he made a mistake in letting Sierra go. They had been involved in a friends with benefits relationship - that of course had turned into more. With receiving an incredible job promotion opportunity - Sierra found herself moving across the country… with Brayden refusing to follow (reminding her she was just a f*** buddy to him). So she leaves.

This story picks up right where Hannah left us off with that cliff hanger in the first book. This time around they get a second chance at love - with Brayden putting it all on the line to win her back.

📖 SPOILERS PAST HERE 🚨

I didn’t love this one. I LOVED the first book, and rated it 5 stars. This one just missed the mark for me. We learn some awesome things like turns out she’s pregnant with his child, a new boss is in town to help handle the sexually harassing boss in her life, and Brayden grew some balls. Love that. However, I felt this installment could’ve easily been shortened down and made into a longer book as one standalone rather than two books. The happy ever after I hoped for and received could’ve been summarized a bit more in maybe an epilogue. I felt like I had to skim over a lot of this book to get to the good details. There was a lot of fluff to make it seem more substantial, and it took away from the enjoyment I found in the quality writing of the first installment.

Taming the Player
By: Hannah Cowan
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book two of the Amateurs in Love series was SO. DAMN. GOOD! Braden, sir, good job! Well we all knew he was going to fly his sad ass to Toronto to be with his little fighter! This book showed how Braden and Sierras relationship grew. Their relationship matured and solidified, and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. As soon as he says, “Hey there, my little fighter” I swooned.
I loved that he was upfront with his feelings from the beginning, considering his balls were technically not in her carry-on bag to Toronto. He was straight to the point so she would listen. While in Toronto, Sierra has made a friend with Gretchen, who I love! Her boss, Cole 🙄, is there still being a big douche bag, but he gets what’s coming to him and it may shock you how that goes down. Her other boss, Mackenzie Thompson, is also a new character that I loved. His appearance and role in the story was unexpected, but I love how he helped Sierra and Braden.
All I have to say is, read Lucky Hit, Between Periods, Blissful Hook, and THEN read Craving the Player! These books are so good and I am now on my way to read Vital Blindside! After that I will have read every single book by Hannah Cowan! She is one of my absolute favorites, not as just a writer, but also with how responsive and amazing she is to her readers!

*Side note- I will always think of this duet when I hear DILF 🤣😂🤣*

This is a continuation of Braden & Sierras story, Book 1 being Craving the Player.

Braden & Sierra were supposed to be just friends with benefits.. a one night stand 😏 no feelings involved!? Is it ever possible. How do you deal with that when feelings are now involved?

Tropes include:
🥊 Unexpected pregnancy
👠 Found family
🥊 Emotional healing
👠Overprotective/ Possessive Hero
🥊 Reformed playboy

THIS Hannah is something else. I did BETA read so rereading the ARC I just fell deeper, noticed more and loved it alllll over again 💛

The character development is perfection. Braden is a fictional bf I drool over 🤤😍👏🏼 the relationship between him and Sierra is just so natural, they cannot stop it. Their connection and flow of personalities are addictive.

I was worried thinking, how is Han going to top craving the player? Where are Braden & Sierra going to lead her? Is it going to be boring due to the chase? What more could possibly happen to them? Well she got to so damn right!!

I don’t want to spoil anything so all I’m going say, as always from Hannah, it’s such as easy read that you just sink into. I love the way these two MCs are written, their moments.. I don’t know how but she just has the perfect words and the most perfect times.

Obsessed!
