In this enemies-to-lovers Regency romance by award-winning author Tracy Sumner, a bold lady and a ruthless duke realize they need to agree to an ardent alliance to get what they want.
He knew at first sight. She knew at first kiss.
Helena Astley, Lady Hell to the ton, has plans. To control her father’s shipping business, to live her way, by her rules. Her plan is going remarkably well until one ill-advised kiss invites the duke she doesn’t want but cannot resist into her life.
Hardnosed Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton, cares little for society or finding a duchess. The only person ever to challenge him is the incorrigible, infuriating Helena Astley. The one woman he’s never been able to forget. When they’re caught in a ruinous situation, Roan offers her an alternative. A sham engagement she can break off after Christmas.
As they discover a world of forbidden pleasure, Helena must decide if she can relinquish a heart she vowed to withhold from the only man powerful enough to seize it.
And Roan must decide if falling madly, passionately in love is worth the risk.

Should I read in order? Sure, why not?? There are characters here that make appearances throughout the series. Though if you don’t mind not knowing other characters backgrounds this one is okay to jump into as a stand alone.
Basic plot: Lady Hell (Helena) spends her time running her father’s shipping business and attempting to thwart Roan (Duke of Leighton) out of sales he desires. An experience 10 years ago has created this tense relationship but they cannot seem to leave each other alone and it soon results in a fake engagement during the holidays.
Give this a try if you want: - Late Regency period – 1823 - Half in London, half at the hero’s country house (or maybe ¼ and ¾) - Much of the story takes place around Christmas - Medium steam – 3 full scenes but this book has a touch shorter page count so may feel hotter - Class differences – hero is a duke, heroine was raised on the docks - A touch of fake relationship and enemies to lovers – neither really lasts long - You love a lot of focus on the relationship development – no villain or mystery going on here - Ruined heroine!
(Hero is around 31/heroine around 27?)
My thoughts: Tracy Sumner is doing something amazing with this series! Each book has been so romantic with unique characters and some playfulness mixed in.
Here we have Roan, the Duke of Leighton, who has wanted Helena since first sight. He’s never been able to get into her good graces, as rumors of his escapades color her opinions. Watching him chase after her and ever so sweetly beat down her defenses while taking nothing of her away was uber sweet. Also, Id like to point out that he’s left handed so woohoo for finally seeing one of my kind in a historical romance.
And our heroine, Helena, Lady Hell to the ton, and Hellie to Roan. She’s so strong and independent, but endearing because she lets you into her heart and her fears that she will just never be enough as a duchess. She knows what she can do and what she’s comfortable with, which is running her business on the docks – so seeing her go out of her comfort zone for her love of Roan and him supporting her every step of the way was beautiful.
I really enjoyed this story, though I must admit I loved The Brazen Bluestocking just a touch more (just a character attachment!). There’s something about Sumner’s writing I just find so poetic and I find myself continually highlighting everything because it’s so breathtaking I want to capture it. Its filled with romance, and longing, and little touches and thoughts. Her intimate scenes are a wonderful mix of character thoughts and emotions, the pull towards each other, the explosion of passion as well as the details.
Each title has a short description/phrase, almost like a chapter title and I LOVED that. I can’t remember who I used to read when I was much younger that did that regularly, but I always enjoyed that part of books and I haven’t seen much like that since then.
One of my only complaints was about 60% through the book (Not really a spoiler. But I don’t want to make people see something they won’t see otherwise so check this out after you read it.)
Here’s a few random parts that I wanted to note from the book:
Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton, cares little for society or finding a duchess. The only woman he wants - and has been pining for for years, is shipping heiress Helena Astley. He convinces her to attend a small house party, with the bribe that his friends - the ladies of the Duchess Society - will tutor her newly found half sister. But when a passionate kiss leaves her compromised, Roan and Helena put their hearts and futures on the line.
This is the second book in the Duchess Society series, plus a prequel. I would recommend reading the books in order because there is a strong theme of friendship throughout the stories and characters cross over.
Roan and Helena met ten years prior to the events of this story and, despite a mutual attraction, Roan bungled it and Helena held a grudge. I wouldn't call it enemies-to-lovers...Roan still wants her, and Helena is annoyed that she wants him too. I really liked both characters. Helena has money and a powerful shipping business, but she's lonely and feels isolated, not really fitting in with the working class or the ton. Roan also has identity issues, but he's done a better job dealing with them. In a lesser family branch, he didn't expect to be duke and doesn't worry much about society expectations. He's happy to surround himself with a small but loyal friend group - which Helena calls the "Leighton Cluster" - and hopes to have Helena by his side.
These characters had great spark and I enjoyed seeing them come together. 4.5 stars rounded to 5.

It's hard to get any person's attention… but when you've had a crush on someone for ten years, you have to either admit defeat or step up your game. Luckily for Roan, he finally discovers a way to both help Helena (his crush) and get her to stay at his place for the holidays. We all know what happens when you let a little forced proximity give an assist.
Tracy Sumner continues to provide traditional historical romances without the traditional problematic elements. Roan and Helena connect on many levels. Plus after the inevitable relationship difficulties crop up, Roan's grovel is on the mark.
This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.
"Today was the day he talked to the young woman on the beach."
That is how it started. Having just inherited the dukedom at twenty one, overwhelmed with responsibilities and women throwing themselves at him, he had taken a trip away to his great aunt's by the seaside. This is where he saw her everyday, walking on the beach, picking up shells or other treasures. It was love at first sight. Unfortunately, in his youth, he had made a mistake, she would not soon forgive.
Ten years later, they are thrown back together, she a successful businesswoman and he an established Duke, and the attraction could not be denied!
A wonderful story, full of witty banter, old hurts, steamy attraction and a slow journey to the happy ending they both needed!!
I think this was a case of it’s not the book, it’s me.
The quality of writing was good and the characters likeable, but I had a hard time engaging with the story, especially in the beginning. There weren’t many feels. Maybe it’s because I read this immediately after finishing book one in the series, The Brazen Bluestocking? TBB was simply magical for me and I was very invested in that story and drawn to the characters. Not so with The Scandalous Vixen. The Brazen Bluestocking is a tough act to follow and this book left me feeling a little disappointed. I think my expectations were just too high.
I am planning on reading the next book in the series when it’s published, though, and am hoping it will have a bit of the magic I found in book one and the prequel.
3.5 stars rounded down. It wasn't bad, but not my fav in the series. Both protags weren't my favs out of the books I've read so far - the duke who didn't want to be a duke, and the business woman/shipping magnate who felt she was too far below him, due to her humble beginnings as a mere sailor's daughter. Somehow they didn't fully click for me, or not as much as the characters in the other books have anyway.
The romance also seemed to be off to quite a slow start, with the first kiss not until nearly half way through the book. There was an early misunderstanding that dragged on for literally years, and it became a bit tedious, actually. Come on guys, when is the romance going to really happen?
Once they finally kissed, the romance really sped up, and things got hot and heavy quite quickly, with some long and descriptive scenes. Quite a contrast to the early part of the book. This somewhat odd pacing didn't really work for me though. It felt like an uneven read, and by the time they really got together, I'd kind of already lost patience with them a little.
So, it wasn't a bad book. I enjoyed the glimpses of characters from the other books and the hints of what is to come in the next book. I have been generally enjoying Ms Sumner's writing style, and I definitely plan to read the whole series, but this particular one just wasn't my fav.
Shipping heiress Helena Astley lives by her own rules and has been very successful at that so far, up until she allows one kiss from the duke she can’t resist, giving him an opportunity to enter her well-ordered life.
Roan Darlington, the reluctant Duke of Leighton, doesn’t put much stock in society’s dictates and isn’t interested in marrying one of their simpering misses. Helena is the only woman to ever truly ignite his interest and he’s been unable to forget her these last ten years. So, when they are caught together in a compromising position, he’s thrilled to offer her marriage. Helena is less than comfortable with the situation, but for her younger half-sister’s sake, she knows she must go through with it. Soon, the passion between Helena and Roan is undeniable and they must both decide if they’re willing to risk their hearts to make a real marriage.
I remain pleasantly surprised by how charming I found this book. Helena did work on my nerves at times with her hesitation and her fears, but Roan had those same issues, and both were understandable and rather relatable. I found it very endearing that both Helena and Roan had been holding back feelings for each other for years but getting them to admit those feelings was quite an ordeal. Nonetheless, the chemistry between these two was so strong and clear on the page that I really didn’t mind. In fact, I think the hard-won aspect made their HEA more satisfying, especially given the fact that they both demonstrated so much growth and willingness to acknowledge their weaknesses and work to correct them. I think the beauty of this story was in that aspect of having flawed main characters who admitted their deficiencies and accepted each other regardless. The unconditional love these two established in the end was very endearing and I enjoyed their story. This was my first read from this author, but it won’t be my last.
Sleazy heroine gives her body to another man, lets him take her innocence and break her in, severing an irreplaceable and primal bond that would have been between her and the hero, if he had been the one to claim her. No thanks. Life is too short for this kind of slimy, putrid shit in romance.
Love at first sight, which takes 10 years for them to get together. Rookery girl to duchess . Nice story, sex scene taking up to many pages, (flipped pages, whoops full chapter lol) ruined the story for me.
I should have loved this book, but I only liked it. Regency era enemies to lovers with a reluctant nobleman who wants to collect fossils and a spirited woman business owner who doesn’t need anyone. Sign me up.
Roan’s youthful infatuation with Hellie is ruined when he says something thoughtless and damaging to her business and she can never forgive him. Ten years of off page sparring pass before we see them again, him still besotted and her angry but attracted.
But all this potential was lost with massive telling rather than showing. If their backstory had been woven in rather than info dumped, it might have caught my interest at the beginning, but many key aspects of their character arcs and experiences were just told to us and we never got to experience them.
One scene the POV jumps needlessly to the hero’s sister to set her up for a future book. And our heroine is a shipping magnate but also is a talented midwife? Mary Sue alert. And the word chit was so overused that I started counting.
This one is formulaic, but if formulaic regency romance is your comfort read, you’ll probably like this one.
Like the first two books, I loved the characters. Sumner writes incredible, complete characters that are relatable. She makes me want to be friends with them. Leighton’s character was truly adorable and seeing him get Helena after having a crush for years was a sweet plot.
Unlike so many romance “series”, The Duchess Society actually keeps the previous characters in the story! I love seeing their stories progress and getting to see a group of friends interact. The series title is an interesting choice as very little actually focuses on the society ~ just a little aside~.
The Scandalous Vixen was written in a bit of a “tell not show” style that the others didn’t have. I felt like the relationship progressing and how the characters felt about each other was told to the reader. Not conveyed through the characters actions/ feelings. I also felt like the title could have been a better insight to the story. Overall, still a fun read and so worth it if you liked the first book as you see all the characters again!
The best series are those that, after each book you finish, make you go: yes, but how will I live until the next one?! So I desperately await for Pippa's book.
With the first book in the series I was super invested in each detail. And pretty blinded by the hero :)) So this second installment was not earthshattering to me, but it stole my nights in the lovelies way.
It's the love story of Hellie and Roan as they finally found a resolve for their teenage attraction. She is a powerhouse, every moment her strength is there but she is also a woman in all her fullness. He is quick to jump on a fight but so charming, caring and smart. And pretty smitten with the woman, and very respectful toward her. And very lustful. So it is all pretty perfect :)
The actions is well paced, the writing is beautiful, there are some very interesting scenes in here, full of life in all its fullness. I loved the feeling of time suspended, most of the action happens when they are far from the ton. I loved how in the end they chose the perfect life for them, despite what other people might think. A winner, this one!
I received a copy of this in order to offer my honest opinion.
I'm so excited about Roan and Helena's second chance romance!
In this enemies-to-lovers Regency romance, a bold lady and a ruthless duke realize they need to agree to an ardent alliance to get what they want.

Unfortunately, The Scandalous Vixen didn't sweep me off my feet. On paper, it promised to be everything that I could ever wish for: a regency romance, enemy-to-lovers, fake dating (actually, fake engagement), heroine-meets-rake, etc. However, it didn't live up to the expectations. While the book does encompass all these tropes, it still came across as narrow and limited in scope. There isn't really much else going on besides the two protagonists, who come together surprisingly fast I might add and there is very little development there. The relationship itself was tragically average, nothing that I haven't seen, heard, watched before, so the book suffered even more from the lack of "otherness". It was just too spare, poor and non-descript, it could've happened anywhere, at any point in time, and to anyone. There was truly nothing special to it. The only thing that justified the choice of the regency era as the setting was the societal expectations and the presence of the judgemental "ton", but that was about it, to be honest. Simply a type of lacklustre that the lust couldn't save.
Wouldn’t you just think that a tale that puts together a leading lady with the nickname Lady Hell (Lady Helena Astley) and the savagely suave Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton who’s admired Hell for years, to be sensational. All Helena wants to do is run her father’s shipping business. The road to that desire has boulders strewn across her path. Their confrontation is unexpected, a sham engagement is called for … and yet will this give them both the desires of their hearts? Can both their needs be met, and then some? A lively romance and quick read but nowhere near as electrifying as I’d hoped.
He knew at first sight. She knew at first kiss. Helena Astley, Lady Hell to the ton, has plans she wants to control her father’s shipping business & to live her way, by her rules. The one woman he’s never been able to forget even after a decade. When they’re caught in a ruinous situation, Roan offers her an alternative. A sham engagement she can break off after Christmas. This is the second book in the series & another riveting read. I loved both Roan & Helena & I found myself totally invested in their story. Both are strong characters who met a decade ago but ill chosen words turned them into adversaries however their attraction still sizzled. An engrossing second chance, enemies to lovers story, which I devoured in two sittings & finished well into the night as it was so good My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton, has been infatuated with Helena Astley for ten years. One comment he made created distance between them, but her attraction to him has never gone away, neither has his. Opportunity is at hand when he offers including her half-sister with his own sister to prepare for the Season with the help of the Duchess Society. Close proximity feeds their attraction. Compromised leads to marriage. Roan gives his love, but sometimes love may not be enough. I don't think I would call this an enemies to lovers trope, because I don't see them as enemies, only light rivals in his collection of fossils and their shipping businesses. I have to say Roan doesn't waste any time going after Helena. Steamy sex! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book gifted by the author.
4 Stars! This is the second book in the series, not counting the prequel. It can be read as a standalone book and has a HEA ending to wrap everything up. This was a good book overall. A bit slow going at first but it got better. The ‘sexy times’ were a bit drawn out for my tastes but still hot. I loved how the main female character was independent and didn’t really care about what society thought of how independent she was, how she acted or how she, shockingly enough, worked for a living! All in all, an entertaining read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! *I received this book at no charge & I voluntarily left this review.*
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
Ever since an ill advised comment ruined any chance of friends between them, Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton, and Helena Astley have been at loggerheads with one another. Helena, or Lady Hell to the ton, knows that as a shipping heiress, and a businesswoman, she faces scorn and ridicule, but she doesn't allow it to change her plans. But a kiss with the handsome duke, who she can't stay away from, has taken over her thoughts. Roan knew from the moment he met Helena that she was the one, but his mistakes in the past ruined all chance of a future, or did they? They're constantly thrown together, and when he gives her an offer she can't refuse - travel to his estate so her young sister can learn social skills alongside his own sister, ready for her debut - Helena would be stupid to refuse. The longer they spend together, the more in love they are, but are they willing to overcome social expectations, and be together?
I found this book even better than The Brazen Bluestocking. Now that we know the characters in the series, and a little of the backstories between the group that Helena dubs the Leighton Cluster, it's so much easier to sink into the story. Leighton never expected to be Duke, but after some relatives passed, and he was the closest male heir, he had to step up and take on the responsibilities he never wanted. He was really sensitive and felt things deeply, but his public persona was one meant to keep people out - apart from his friends. Helena managed to get under his skin, and the way they acted in the years since their first meetings was almost as if they were courting, but without each other really knowing it. There were so many humourous moments in this book, but also really heartfelt ones too - I really felt as if this was a couple made for each other, and they proved they were worthy of one another. Book 3, The Wicked Wallflower, is already set up to be fantastic, and I can't wait to read it!
This is the second in The Duchess Society series, and third overall if you count a prequel. I've read the other two and was happy to read this as my first historical romance of the year. Helena Astley has wealth and runs a successful shipping business. Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton (The Defiant Duke) wasn't born or raised to be a Duke. But he takes his responsibilities to him dukedom and his younger sister seriously. After insulting Helena he invites her and her sister to visit his castle for Christmas. Once there, sparks fly and there is a majorly intense kissing scene which results in them being compromised. The whole series is about misfits and those not fitting the society norms but yet go together and compliment each other perfectly. He's actually wanted her for ten years. She's always longed for him. It is just the best of stories when both want the other and yet are unsure of the others feelings. the story is streamy and also takes some unexpected turns. I wish there were a few more conversations between the two. The writing is very much sharing what is going on within their own minds and not dialogue with each other. I will anxiously await for Pippa's romance in the next book. Thank you to Wolf Publishing, Tracy Sumner and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. (4.5 stars)
I’ve read books in this series and others by this author. I tend to run hot or cold with her works. Unfortunately, I did not like this book, so much that I was unable to finish it. The story and the characters had incredible potential, although I believe the author made the heroine far too unrealistic for the times. I cannot believe a woman would be so independent and powerful back in the day. (I do wish that authors would not give so many modern sensibilities and attributes to historical women. Let us see them work within their societal confines, not create new rules for them!)
What made this book unfinishable for me? First, the author had prodigious information dumps at the start of the first chapter for both main characters. And I do mean prodigious, especially the hero’s! However, his was a little more interesting than most because the typical mind-numbing recitation of backstory and characterization was interspersed with him watching the heroine frolic and gather objects at the seashore. But other than that, his first chapter—until his friend showed up (and even still at times when he was there)--was a straight-up narrative prose info dump. Yuck! I don't understand why authors can't seem to grasp that readers do not like page after page of backstory. Weave it artfully into the story as it is needed! Second, much of the book is written in phrases, not full sentences. And I mean A LOT of phrases! In general in historical fiction, I like to see full sentences as a part of the elevated language that should be the cornerstone of historical fiction. Even if an author doesn't want to use the appropriate elevated language in historical romance, use of too many phrases—especially paragraphs of them!—makes the writing choppy and hard to read. Instead of just being able to quickly read and enjoy the text, seeing the story unfold in your mind's eye, you instead have to puzzle out how these jumbled, one-after-the-other phrases tie together… or not. If you don't mind choppy, phrase-burdened prose, you may enjoy this book more than I did.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Helena aka Hellie is a businesswoman, A shipping magnate employing hundreds of workers trains as a child by her father! Fearless until it comes to toffs aka titled gentleman! Only one in particular! Roan is a Duke who never thought to inherit but conscious of the responsibilities he has to the Duchy and the people thrust depend on him! Lust at first sight for Roan Duke of Leighton when he saw Helena and for 10 years he's fought against it! Helena seems to the inky one in the Ton that doesn't know how Roan feels! When Helena inherits a half sister this finally gives Roan an opening to invite them into his world at his home a!omg with the Leighton cluster! One late night meeting with these two was incendiary! Flames leap off the pages! These two are fire and gasoline! When it seems like they have a match made in heaven Hellie over hears remarks about herself that send her running back to London! Roan needs to convince her she belongs with him! What if he convinces her he can also navigate in her world?
A captivating enemies-to-lovers romance, The Scandalous Vixen is the second book in The Duchess Society series and follows Roan Darlington, the Duke of Leighton, and Helena Astley, a pair who met years ago and have a tumultuous history. Roan has been in love with Helena for years, ever since he was a young man. However, he lost his chances and became her adversary when she overheard him speaking unflatteringly about her.
A wealthy business owner who is often looked down upon because of the career she inherited from her father, Helena has never forgotten Roan’s humiliating words. Known as Lady Hell by the ton, Helena butts heads with Roan every time they see each other in polite society, but Roan wants to make things right. A proposition to accompany Roan, his sister, and his friends to his country home forces the pair to face their long-standing feelings for each other. But will Helena and Roan forget the missteps of the past and embrace a future together?
Roan and Helena have an amazing, chemistry-laden romance, and I loved every minute of it. They are both such interesting and layered characters, and their history is long and filled with angst, frustration, anger, and pent-up desire. I love how this couple challenges each other, and their conversations have the best banter – quick-witted, passionate, and, oftentimes humorously antagonistic. The sparks between these two are impossible to ignore, that’s for sure! They are so well-matched, and I really like that their relationship is a give and take between equals. Roan never treats Helena as anything less than the intelligent, capable woman that she is.
Throughout the story, it feels as if Roan will do anything to prove he is not the irresponsible and immature man Helena first met. Sometimes, I don’t think he even realizes that’s what he is trying to do, but her animosity toward him definitely affects Roan. Helena struggles to forget the hurt she felt by his comments when they were teens. The woman sure knows how to hold a grudge, but this grudge shows how deep her feelings for Roan really run. It’s so lovely to see them slowly grow closer, open up to each other, and face their feelings. Their transition from squabbling enemies to begrudging allies to lovers is so well done. And oh my word, the scene where they have their first kiss is super swoon-worthy and filled with so much chemistry! Get a fan, because you’ll need it! There’s so much emotion and desire between them, and it really shows.
This is a fabulous addition to the series, and I adored Roan and Helena’s love story! They make enemies-to-lovers look good! Other characters in the story are equally intriguing, and I’m eager to read the next book in the series. This story hints at the next romance, and their chemistry is as supercharged as Roan and Helena’s. Plus, it has a forbidden element that promises some intriguing obstacles.
Though this is the second book in The Duchess Society series, it can easily be read as a standalone. I read this book before I read the first book and easily followed the story. That being said, as soon as I finished this book, I got a copy of the first book and began reading it. I was so intrigued by the main couple from The Brazen Bluestocking and needed to read their love story! Thanks so much to NetGalley, Tracy Sumner, and WOLF Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
Tropes Regency Era, historical romance, House Party, Titled hero, Beta hero, Spinster Wallflower heroine, Working Heroine, Unrequited love, Second Chance romance, Enemies to Lovers, Fake Relationship, Married in Scandal, Class Difference, Rake Hero, Sudden Nobility
The Hero Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton was handed the dukedom at the age of 21, suddenly and out of the blue. He was not happy about the inheritance, but came to recognize his duty. He and his sister Pippa were forced out of their simple life, to one they were I’ll prepared for.
The Heroine Helena Astley is the only daughter of a shipping giant, who gave her the company when he died, making her an instant outcast in society but incredibly wealthy! She is smart, witty and an amazing business woman. Her mother having died when she was little, she is lonely and has no friends outside of work relationships.
The Plot Roan has been pining after Helena for over a decade. He would watch her by the seashore and try to gather the nerve to speak to her. When he finally did, he botched the whole thing and ruined any chance he had with her.
Now, it’s 10 years later and, although they still harbor strong feelings for each other, they are rude to each other and bicker every time they meet. But, when the opportunity presents itself, Roan invites Helena, and her newly discovered half sister, to his country house for the Christmastide so that her sister and his sister can get lessons from the Duchess Society. He offers to pretend a courtship with Helena so that he can help put aside rumors he accidentally when he punched a man for insulting her and save her from scandal.
Helena and her sister arrive at Roan’s house and she starts to see a side of him that she didn’t expect, a caring and responsible side. But when he dares her to a kiss, that simple kiss leads to more and they are caught in a compromising position. Thrust into a world she is I’ll prepared for, Roan must convince Helena that he wants and loves her and the rest will fall into place. And she needs to let her guard down and open her heart to the possibility of love and a family.
The Steam A couple of very steamy scenes and lots of swooning! One particularly steamy scene on a pianoforte that leads to a compromising situation!
Final Thoughts Once again, Ms. Sumner’s book gives me all the feels! Such a good book and, since, all three storylines in this series are so different, I know it is Tracy’s writing that can pull me into any romance she can put to paper!

Great book! Wonderful escapism into a more elegant and romantic 💕time!
A Good Read! I found the beginning of this story a bit drawn out and not enough action but about half way through it suddenly woke up and became more fast paced and interesting. (Please note that this is my opinion only and others may feel differently). That said, the story is a good one and I enjoyed the different character personalities. Also loved how strong and bold Helena was. And then we have Roan, sigh! Faithful to the end! I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and my voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above.
What a fun match between Defiant Duke and Lady Hell! I love this series due to all of the strong independent women.
This is a great love story that was 10 years in the making. Hellie and her upbringing at the docks and her running a shipping business and Roan not being a typical Duke and wanting to show his true self.
This book was steamy throughout without being overwhelming. It could also serve as a stand alone book, but I enjoyed seeing characters from the previous two books. The integration of the Duchess Society was perfect without being the main focus in this book. I'm excited for the next book in the series!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing this ARC for my honest review.
I Loved It! This is the third in the series which brings the characters who found a place in your heart are back, this time in Helena and Roan story. The Scandalous Vixen will keep you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey with Helena and Roan until the very end! Tracy Sumner has writen a story that's filled with characters that weave a story that will hold you spellbound as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale they come off the pages and pull you in, the book flowed well from one thing to another without being forced, an enjoyable plot, and delightful banter. The scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story. Sparks fly between these two individuals as their emotions start to bombard them on their journey to admitting their love for one another will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Didn’t enjoy this second book at all. A sexually experienced, girl from the rookery, ruined reputation turned duchess…totally not believable for the era. The Ton would shun them both.
Then because of miscommunication, it takes them ten years to get together. Huge eye roll for such manufactured conflict. I’ll be passing on the rest of the series and this author.
