So I got through this one fast. This is my first book by this author I’m currently reading another one by her as well. I just recently got into the whole paranormal romance genre and I absolutely adore werewolf romances. So if your thinking if you should read this book or not you should. It’s well written and the characters are amazing and relatable. Happy reading!
If you are looking for a quick story this one is decent. It's like a summary of a book that shares the main juicy parts. I usually get mad when there is too much filler and the story goes nowhere, but this book could use more filler and character development. Other than that I enjoyed the story line.
The idea and plot were interesting but the story was not developed well. It was very choppy and read more like a quick summary of someone telling the reader the very basics of what happened rather than a book.
I did enjoy the book but felt like it kind of gloss over everything. I felt like it could have gone a bit more indepth with the characters, just a little bit more. Maybe some more details to the story.
Once again I was browsing instagram and got sucked into a random add about a slave and an alpha Lycan and next thing I know google tells me it’s on Everland and Amazon. 2 hours later I’m just as surprised to see it on Goodreads!
For a random ad on Instagram the book wasn’t so bad. It kept my attention and peeked my curiosity enough to finish reading it. This book is written in an incredibly fast pace with writing that isn’t that great but you can follow.
It’s a story of a wolf who was raised as a slave from the moment she was found outside pack territory. So like all second chance wolf books, she find out her first mate is the alpha of the pack she’s a slave to. He rejects her and she goes back to being a slave. The alpha gets injured and for him to heal quickly he needs his mate near, and that’s when they find out she has healing capabilities. He wants to keep and mate her just so he can use her healing abilities while he overtakes the other packs and kills the lycan king. She refuses and finally reject her alpha. Thrown into a cell until she gives in but she refuses and that’s where she stays for weeks until the lycan alpha arrives at the pack and gets thrown into the cell and lo and behold, mates. Of course they escape she saves the lycan and they run. Of course you have the plot the climax and boom HEA
There’s a second book but will probably not read it.

(Spoilers) A very good read! But could have been better as a series!
I really liked this book. I just wish this was made into a series/trilogy instead of a stand-alone. The story is amazing and I love the characters. But it felt rushed and there was too much going on for one book. I feel like it definitely could have been stretched out into a series and go into more detail of each event that happened. Like this book could have ended once they got the castle back from the alphas and then the 2nd book could have been about Hope figuring out who she is and who her parents are. And then maybe the 3rd and last book could have been her finding out she's pregnant, having her babies and then this last book could also mention other characters and what happens with them. I just wish there was more! However, this is a great book and I enjoyed reading it!
It's a good story. However, it's not told very well. Some editing issues need to be sorted. But, the main bug bear is that it's lacking in description and detail. The characters, their relationships, and their worlds are two-dimensional. It's like viewing the stickman as opposed to the full portrait. No depth. I wanted to feel the overwhelming relief and wonder of Maximus finding his mate and of Hope being saved from a life of abuse and drudgery. There were some moments where I felt I could've been deeply moved. But, it fell short. It all seemed a bit rushed. This could be a very good story, worthy of 5 stars if it wasn't so sparsely written.
Although this book was straight to the point and I appreciate that the author didn't "beat around the bush", I felt like this book needed more. It almost read like cliff notes. It had good bones, an interesting story about a female werewolf with 2 mates. That was new for me in the sense she had a choice. I've read other books with multiple mates but it was a reverse harem trope which I didn't get from this book. Also, the fact that the FMC, Slave aka Hope was a "hybrid", half witch half werewolf was an added twist. Kind of wished there was more character development. It was so quick throughout the book it was hard to get emotionally invested.

It had a good storyline, and it was well written which I really appreciated. So many of these books these days are not written well, with sloppy English and grammatical errors, which makes them not enjoyable to read. The characters were all well written and I could see myself and Hope. She was very well named, for her whole story was one of Hope, coming from a very sad and painful background. Maximus was a very good hero as it were, strong and stable and always there for Hope. It's very easy to see yourself in the story's characters. I would definitely read more books by this author.
I enjoyed this book. I appreciate that it was a quick read. Sometimes you don't want to have the long drawn out extremely descriptive books that go into every tiny detail. This one told the story in a quick and concise manner and was still quite enjoyable. There is room in my world for both kinds of books. I sometimes get frustrated with the ones that read like a step by step account of the story and not just a pleaseant recounting of the story and this one was a pleasant recounting of Alpha Maximus' story.
I liked the idea of the story. Anyone talented enough to write a story should receive 5 stars. I think she missed details, making somethings move to quickly without much detail.
One of my favorite parts was actually Nathan. He was fun without going into great detail about his personality. His words in action that she wrote made him fun and lovable.
This is a quick read with very discreet sexy time. The plot is good with interesting twists and turns, but the story makes huge leaps between scenes and I'm left with questions. Like, how could a human just say OK to her werewolf mate running off with her and the next day they're a happy couple? How can Hope come from such horror still innocent like a child and trust her mate? Why were there so many evil alphas?
This is the first shifter story I've read that focuses on the story and not on the sex that so many shifter stories focus on. The reason I didn't rate this a 5 is that some of the chapters or events were light on details; the event could have been developed more fully. Also, at the end, witch Lea was left a loose end; what happened to her? Overall, a lovely story. I plan to read more of this author!
This is such a fun, well written book. Sexy Alphas, strong females, and a lot of adventures…plus, it’s an easy read! Yes, there’s romance and spice but, not raunchy spice. If you want a book that ticks, almost, every romance box with an actual storyline…THIS IS IT Y’ALL.🤗
In "The Last Lycan" by Jazz Ford, readers are treated to an imaginative world and well-crafted characters. However, the story suffers from pacing inconsistencies, occasionally hindering the overall enjoyment. While it's worth a read for fans of the genre, it doesn't quite reach the heights of excellence.
Slave/Hope was an abounded as a newborn and taken in by a viscous alpha who would not even give her a name, hence slave. Alpha Maximus was looking for his fated mate. When slave became 18 the fated mate was Alpha Tate who hated looking at her. What happens next? Will she find her mate? Will she get out of the bad place?
I found this book on one of those pay as you go sites, I was so excited to find it and the sequel on Amazon. I bought both immediately, well written. A beautiful love story, full of twists and turns. I finished it in less than 2 days. I highly recommend reading, it is so good, and now I'm starting on the second book.
Ms Jazz has the gift of a bard. I really found it hard to leave the world of Maximus and Hope. Very happy how she brought it all together in the last few chapters.
I love an author you can steel you from the real world into the world they have woven with their magical written words.
I liked how the book kept my interest. But there was a lot of repeat of the same thing. Overall, it was a great read. Just would have liked more details and action. The scenes that were written, had fighting, but was over quickly.
This book was eye-catching and heart wrenching. I read it in one day. The author's words kept me intrigued and pining for more. The way she introduced the birth of hybrid was wonderful. Look forward to reading more of her works.
The story definitely has potential but feels like it could use some editing and proof reading. The plot kind of gave me whip lash jumping from one event to the next so fast. Some of the scenes are a bit cringy and cheesy. About half way through i began to struggle to continue reading.
I enjoyed this book all the way to the end. It kept me on the edge the whole time. Some books I lose interest throughout the book and I will skip chapters. This book was worth while reading. Keep up the good work can’t wait to read the next one.
The story could have had so much potential and it was so rushed and some parts didn’t make sense like he is a Lycan and strong but at times made him sounds like a weak alpha that could protect his Luna. I couldn’t finish book it got really annoying.
I chose this rating because this book is such a great read, I encourage everyone who reads to read it, it's action-packed, I have laughed and cried, great love scenes and so romantic
I really liked how this story flowed. It was obviously written and well thought out and the plot just draws you in. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Highly recommended!
