Helen Rolfe writes contemporary women's fiction and enjoys weaving stories about family, friendship, secrets, and relationships. Characters often face challenges and must fight to overcome them, but above all, Helen's stories always have a happy ending.
Location is a big part of the adventure in Helen's books and she enjoys setting stories in different cities and countries around the world. So far, locations have included Melbourne, Sydney, New York, Connecticut, Bath and the Cotswolds. She also loves creating village settings or places with a small-town feel and a big sense of community.
Born and raised in the UK, Helen graduated from University with a business degree and began working in I.T. This job took her over to Australia where she eventually turned her attentions back to the career she'd dreamt of when she was fourteen. She studied writing and journalism and wrote articles for women's health and fitness magazines. Helen began writing fiction in 2011 and hasn't missed the I.T. world one little bit... in fact she may just have found her dream job!
Gus and his daughter have just moved to Heritage Cove. Gus meets Hazel while looking for horse boarding. It’s a lovely story with likable characters and horses. It made me wish I had a horse. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy
I loved this sweet story, this author tells a very good tale and I liked the characters. It was a great book to read sitting under the shade of a tree on a hot, sunny day. I do hope she writes more about these characters as I would love to find out what happens next. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
It didn't take me long to feel right at home in this latest book in the Heritage Cove series.
From familiar characters that I actually remember, to the new ones of Hazel and Gus this was a warm hug of a book.
Well any book that starts with a life drawing class is going to get my approval. Especially when its followed with a stables setting that I'd written in so much detail that all horse lovers would recognise and appreciate.
I adored getting to know new vet Gus and Abi his equine mad daughter! They have been through a lot in the past but are slowly moving on.
The same could be said of Hazel, and her wavering confidence levels.
It was utterly heartwarming to see Hazel and Abi talking, and how they were around each other.
And I adored getting to know the various horses at the stable, with a huge soft spot for them all.
I think this could be my new favourite book of the series, it was a pleasure to read in the garden on the hottest day of the year so far!!!
I thoroughly enjoy this series and I look forward to hopefully many more trips to The Cove.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
What a scrumptious feel good read! I needed something light hearted to get me out of a reading slump and this was perfect! It did have serious undertones but was done in a really easy read way and has me smiling throughout! I will definitely be reading more by this author!
Helen Rolfe is the author, Heritage Cove book, Horses on the cover and in the plot, where do I sign up, oh wait I already did and I ‘bloomin’ loved it ( in my best Eliza Doolittle voice) This book is the fifth in the Heritage Cove series, you can read and enjoy this as a stand-alone, but personally I always think you get so much more from it if you’ve read the previous books (and why wouldn’t you want to read the first four equally amazing stories in the series, you really do want to, they’re so good) But that’s just me, it can definitely be read without any knowledge of the previous books.
Helen’s books are definitely feel good stories, full of fun, community, great characters and importantly a happy ending (because I really don’t need real life interfering with my escapism). This story had me hooked from the first chapter, if it wasn’t for the day job getting in my way I definitely woul have read this in one sitting as I just really didn’t want to put it down. This is such a fun book, I was laughing all the way through, I definitely think Helen must have a mischievous streak in her (in a lighthearted way obviously)
‘Finding Happiness At Heritage View’ is well written, Helen Rolfe’s characters are well crafted and developed, it’s like chatting with friends rather than reading about, but I think that is what makes Helen’s books so good, that you are so engrossed that you feel involved in the story. I thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend this book to any fan of Heritage Cove, Helen’s books or to anyone who loves a heartwarming read, that will lift you up and won’t let you down, even long after you’ve left heritage cove, that’s how much these characters stay with you.
Finding Happiness at Heritage View by Helen Rolfe Book 5 of 5 Heritage Cove Welcome back to Heritage Cove, the little village by the sea brimming with character, community and friendship. The perfect place to fall in love Running Heritage View Stables is everything Hazel ever dreamed of. She loves working with the horses and managing the business with her brother. But after a terrible incident, she's unsure whether she'll ever be able to return things as they were. Gus is ready to start over. He's moved him and his ten-year-old daughter Abigail to Heritage Cove, where he's opening his vet practice. Neither Hazel nor Gus is looking for love, but could they each be what the other needs? And is happiness even possible when their pasts won't let them go? I have really enjoyed this series of books; they have a wonderful sense of community, are full of fun, and have fabulous characters. Like the books proceeding it, this story had me hooked from the first page. I am happy to recommend the complete series as all five books have plenty to offer and are a wonderful summer afternoon distraction. I want to thank publishers Boldwood Books, author Helen Rolfe and Rachel's Random Resources for the invitation to the tour and for a copy to read and review.
This was such a lovely, comforting read and even if you’re not a horse lover you’ll find yourself right at home at Heritage View Stables. Hazel is such a lovely character who deserves a bit of happiness and to hopefully move on from the accident that has stifled her teaching for so long.
I found it really comforting how Arnold was with Hazel, even though his frustrations were clear, you could see how much he cares for and loves his sister and will do anything to help her. One character I really didn’t warm to was James and I found myself hoping for Hazel to finally cut all ties as he really didn’t understand her current mindset and way forward.
Heritage Cove itself is just as good as in the previous books, but I have to say the bakery and waffle shack really shone in this and I found myself getting very peckish throughout!
Another fab book from Helen with a great storyline, Gus and Abigail have such an amazing relationship and I loved watching something develop between Hazel and him to, even if it didn’t always look like plain sailing!
I enjoyed this uplifting story featuring Hazel, co-owner of Heritage View stables and Abigail, a sweet girl who has recently moved to the village with her father, Gus. Abigail is desperate for more riding lessons but why is Hazel digging her heels in about teaching her? Abigail melted my heart at times and I loved how caring and protective (with good reason) her father was. I loved hearing about the horses, how well they were looked after, even though I'm not a big fan of horses. This is a story of new beginnings and was a pleasurable read that I recommend. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Once again Helen has captured our hearts back in one of my favourite places of heritage cove, Gustav is a bit of a revelation, being the new vet he makes an impression more ways than one, my favourite of the cove has to be Barney very charismatic gentleman was great being back amongst friends a truly fabulous read that I can highly recommend. As are of Helens books.❤️❤️
I enjoyed being back in the cove and this time at Heritage View. Gus the new vet meets Hazel who runs the stables with her brother Arnold. Gus has a daughter who tries to hide her facial scars from an accident, whilst Hazel has scars but not visible. This story is about all of them sorting out their problems and getting out the other side.
This was a heartwarming story about overcoming past hurts and fears. I loved the horse aspect. When I started the novel, I was anticipating a romance. And while there was a love story, that wasn't the focal point.
The Archers meets Gilmore Girls in Helen Rolfe’s witty, enchanting and poignant new novel, Finding Happiness at Heritage View.
Running Heritage View Stables is all Hazel has ever wanted. Taking care of the horses and managing the business with her brother is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream – until a terrible incident makes her question whether Heritage View Stables is really the place for her. Can Hazel ever put things back the way they were? Will Heritage View Stables ever feel like home again? Or will the life she treasures be put in jeopardy due to an unfortunate chain of events?
Gus had come to Heritage Cove to start over with his ten year old daughter, Abigail. After a tumultuous time for him and Abigail, it looks like things are starting to fall into place. Heritage Cove is the perfect place to open his veterinary practice and the countryside has done Abigail good as she has finally started to come out of her shell and be the happy little girl she was before the accident. Romance is the very last thing on his mind – until he crosses paths with Hazel and begins to experience feelings he hasn’t felt in a long time…
With the past still exerting its hold on them, will Hazel and Gus find the happiness they seek at Heritage Cove? Or will their doubts and insecurities end up costing them the second chance they deserve?
Helen Rolfe’s Finding Happiness at Heritage View is feel-good escapism at its most charming. A touching, tender and witty tale that cannot fail to brighten up your day, Finding Happiness at Heritage View is a comforting, uplifting and emotional page-turner with beautifully drawn characters, gentle humour and sweet romance that will keep you spellbound.
A book that will give you all the feels, Helen Rolfe’s Finding Happiness at Heritage View is not to be missed.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Heritage Cove is a little village by the sea. Hazel has always dreamed of running Heritage View Stables. She and her brother Arnold run it together since their parents decided to take life a bit easier. But a shocking incident that involved a young boy and an irate, attacking father, has left Hazel lacking in confidence and immobilised by fear. She teaches some classes but only to adults. One day she hopes to return to teaching children. But she has no idea when that might happen. Gus has moved with his ten year old daughter, Abigail to a Heritage Cove. He intends to open his own vet practice and he hopes it will be a place where he hopes Abigail can heal emotionally from her traumatic accident that occurred while Abigail was with her mother, Julie. At Heritage Cove, Abigail starts to come out of her shell. She is looking forward to having her horse Denby come to stay. Gus has found some stables for him and seeks to get riding lessons for Abigail. But Hazel refuses to teach Abigail, and he has no idea why as she seems to relate well to her. He is definitely not looking for a romantic relationship, yet he is drawn to Hazel. But Hazel is more than a little wary after seeing Gus in a temper. Hazel, Arnold, Gus and Abigail are all great and easy to relate to with their various issues. The setting is great and those who love horses will no doubt enjoy all the horsey details. Not ever being a particular horse fan, I could at times have done with a bit less info in those aspects. But still, it is overall an entertaining read because the characters draw you in and make it come alive. This is the 5th book in the series about Heritage Cove, but it reads fine as a stand alone.
So great to return to Heritage Cove, a village by the sea, To catch up on the long standing and new members of the community. This story focuses on one of each and what they get up to And the past events which cause them so to do.
Hazel, with her brother Arnold, run Heritage View Stables where Horses and riders are treated with great care. Hazel used to love helping children learn to ride But events now mean she'd rather run away and hide.
Gus is the newcomer, moving there with Abigail, his daughter, He's setting up as a vet and hopes to be the best yet. However, an accident caused Abigail great pain And her face will never be the same again.
Both have their worries and aren't looking for romance, But fate is stepping in, maybe Abi's horse will give them the chance? Finding out about what happened in the past Could help them help each other put it behind them at last.
Get ready for confrontations, strong words and more, Along with horse characters you just have to adore! There's angst and turmoil, shattered confidence, too, Can they help each other find a new way through?
With secrets from the past remaining concealed It will take a dramatic incident to get them revealed! I really enjoyed reading this delightful book And hope you'll consider giving it more than a look.
For my complementary copy, I say thank you, As I share with you this, my honest review.
This is the story of Hazel and her brother, and of Abigail and her father. Hazel and her brother own and run a horse stable and give riding lessons. New in town, Abigail’s father arranges to board her horse at the stable. A couple of years ago, a terrible incident involving a young boy has emotionally scarred Hazel. A couple of years ago, a terrible accident has emotionally and physically scarred Abigail. As the story evolves, both Hazel and Abigail, with the help of their family and friends, overcome these tragedies, putting the past behind them. It’s a lovely and sweet story, illustrating the difficulty in adapting and accepting what can’t be changed, but showing that you don’t have to let the past control your future. For regular readers, a trip to Heritage Cove is like visiting old friends, and a happy vacation that is as close as the pages in the book.
Hazel runs Heritage Vieww stables with her brother. Where they teach riding to people in the local area. However, after a terrible incident, Hazel is not sure if she could ever teach again.
Gus and his 10-year-old daughter, Abigail, have moved to Heritage Cove where he is opening up his own vet practice. Here Gus is delighted that Abigail is finally coming out of her shell and he is happily seeing her flourish.
Can Hazel and Gus help each other through the past traumas and learn to let go?
This is part of a series of books however, it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read any of the others and enjoyed this one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hazel has kept her secret from her friends for so long. They have tried to take her out of her comfort zone since shes been on a break from james. James doesn't know the meaning of i need some space. He keeps turning up and trying to get her to leave the stables and sell her half but she doesn't want to. She loves the horses and running the stables. The new vet needs a stable for his daughter Annabel's horse called Denby. He wants Annabel to have lessons with hazel but hazel isn't teaching children anymoor. There are many twists and turns. I cant wait for the next instalment.
I have recently discovered this author and I didn’t realise that this book was book 5 in the series although it could be read as a standalone.
This was a cosy escapism read which also covered some difficult issues. I loved the descriptions of the characters and the beautiful setting and look forward to reading the back Catalogue of these books
This was an uplifting feel good read and perfect to start of my new years reading.
Another great book by Helen. I love the start in the set class and the way you go on the journey to the end of the story. This story shows how confidence can be lost and the damage it can cause but also the way to start to gain it back. I love how the characters feel so real and that you want them to have a happy ending. I'm not into riding but these stables sound great.
I loved reading this book returning to Heritage Cove and the riding stables. The new vet , Gus, has just opened a new practice and he has a daughter who is obsessed with horses. Hazel one of the owners at the stable with her brother Arnold loved being with Abigail and her dad Gus.
I thoroughly enjoyed being back in the cove again and great to see old favourites like Harvey , being mentioned. The story was lovely, such kindness shown by the whole cove
Another dip into the village of Heritage Cove. Nice to hear about some of the characters you’ve a,ready met. But if you haven’t visited the village before this book could still stand alone as a good read.
If you're looking for a good quality easy read you've found it with The Heritage Cove series. Excellent characters that are easy to warm to & to care what happens to them. Look forward to the next installment.
This book is heartwarming, a feel-good book, and it is difficult to put it down. I have read all of the Heritage Cove books, and they are all as enjoyable. I will definitely be reading some of her books.
Lovely calm story of trust and love with a sweet ending. Would recommend reading this book in order as you get into each character as if you lived in the village and knew everyone personally. Great read
