Run. It’s all Caio knows how to do. Foxes run. And wolves... they hunt.
Caio is being hunted, again. Since the war that left the shifter world fractured, he’s rarely felt safe. When he’s chased onto pack land, he thinks his luck has run out. Instead, the wolves take him in. He can’t help but be suspicious of their motives, especially those of their leader, Roman. Yet the dark-eyed alpha looks at him like he’s more than just prey.
The love between a fox and a wolf hides in the shadow of the moon.
Roman does whatever it takes to protect his pack and make their home a sanctuary from the outside world. And then Caio arrives on their doorstep. He doesn’t have the heart to turn away a scared, pregnant omega, even if he is a fox shifter. But trying to help Caio tangles them together in a way he isn’t prepared for. Caio can’t stay—there's no place for a fox in a wolf pack—but Roman isn’t sure he can let him walk away.
Run to You is a slow burn m/m shifter romance and the first book of the Moonshadow Den series. It contains mpreg and mature themes.
Claire Cullen is an author and aspiring baker. Since she was a toddler, she has loved making up stories. Getting them down on paper proved a challenge in the early years when her preferred medium was finger puppets. She moved on to pen and paper, and later to keyboards, and hasn't looked back since, except for occasional bouts of nostalgia.
I really don’t like cliffhanger well I guess on this case I should say to be continued. That’s how the ending felt to me. Honestly, I enjoyed the story. I would had wanted the baby to be a wolf baby instead of a fox baby, but it was still enjoyable. I love slow burns falling in love little by little. Just makes me happy..
There is zero world building. Nothing. There is very little sense of time. Meaning sure, there was a war, but how long ago? Who knows. Main characters - nothing. We don’t know their ages, what they look like, they’re absolutely blank. In fact, they are so blank, that one could pass as a female character easily. The alpha ? Not sure what part of the way he was written made him one, other than he inherited the pack and he won a fight.
The sex scenes were so bland and boring. I mean they are totally written in a very Harlequin “his excitement” type of way. One hop, skip and jump away from “his member” which would have been just scandalous. The one thing that truly did me in, was the part where that one gender ambiguous character feeds his baby. How? With what? I can appreciate omegaverse just fine, but THAT is the line in the sand for me. Add that the super low pace, kinda boring, slow burn with a very unsatisfactory climax and I’m done. Sorry, this author is not for me.
What a beautiful start to a series. I loved every moment. The was a journey. A hard caught kind of love. Hurt comfort, predictor pray kind of love. Can an alpha of a pack fall for a lone fox? Sworn enemies, both coming from loss. But when love is the binding factor anything is possible. I didn’t known what to expect from this one. But I’m so glad I read it. This is not a fluffy read. They fought and won this love. There’s angst and tears and boy did the title come through. Lots of running away. The writing was great, the smexy (only twice) was hawt, and the side characters.. can’t wait to read Tris or even Z’s stories.
After my first Claire Cullen series fizzled out, I wasn't sure if I was going to try her works again, but there was just something about this cover and synopsis that kept calling out to me. And I was so pleasantly surprised with the captivating world she painted.
This story had a hidden depth to it, heavy at times but beautifully woven. Caio finds himself in such a tragic, heartbreaking situation that my heart couldn't help but go out to him. Life has not been easy for him and over the course of the novel, we learn just how many struggles and loses he has had. Then there is Roman who is navigating being a new alpha and struggling to find the balance between asserting his dominance but not abusing his power. Over the course of the story, secrets are revealed, and these two grow in tentative closeness; even though Caio feels like a future for them is impossible.
I loved how Caio softened Roman's rough edges. And Roman was such a rock-solid, pillar of strength, he was the perfect counter for Caio. And if the romance wasn't enough, there was the added intricacies of the war between hyena, wolf, and fox shifters. As well as navigating pack politics; who is upset, who isn't getting in line, and who wants Caio gone. I just couldn't put the book down and when it ended, I immediately started the sequel.
Roman is the leader of the pack, the alpha prime, since his father passed away.
Caio is an omega, fox shifter, pregnant and on the run. Hunted, he enter Roman territories. Instead of being killed, he is given food and shelter, so a few days. There are prejudices against the others race, because of a war from the past.
It was cute, but I am not a huge fan of the “pregnant from a dead mate” trope. The rogues wolves had no personalities and gelt like a unknown enemies.
Caio has been held captive, but when he gets a chance to run free, he follows his mate's directuons. Right into a wolf pack, which isn't great for a fox. But Roman feels the need to protect Caio, so he does.
2.5 stars. This was fine, very average. The writing wasn’t terrible but there were some continuity things that bothered me and I found the ending to be a bit anticlimactic.
Meh. Okay, so why five stars then? It's everything it claimed it would be. Well written, well edited, full of emotion, lives up to the blurb. I just really hate mpreg. Was hoping reading an author's work that I've enjoyed in the past would help me look beyond that. Not so much. But it's still exactly what it said on the tin, so five stars it is!
This is fantastic start to a new series, Caio and Roman are great characters and the story was interesting and well written. I hope there's going to be much more from this series!
While the characters were great in general, and I liked the closest pack members - something was just really off the way the plot moved, and with Roman and Caio. I mean, the story started with Caio being ‘captured’ by Roman’s pack, and Caio spent quite a while thinking he was being returned to decent health so the pack could hunt and kill him. But then one day Roman does his best to show Caio that’s not it at all. They would never participate in a hunt as a pack, it’s not them. Shortly after that, Caio and Roman share a kiss. Then there’s a challenge for leadership against Roman as alpha, by his second, Zayn. Roman wins and doesn’t kill Zayn. All is forgiven. Then that same night, Caio and Roman have sex. Um, okay? Like it just moved so fast. And the fact that it’s so glossed over. It was the most non-specific sex scene I’ve ever read. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating. I remember my Twilight days. 😆 Still, it was pretty freaking close. Such a strange hookup. Then they wake up the next morning and Caio is like, okay it’s time for me to leave now. I need to get home to my family. Okay. So Roman offers to have a few wolves walk with Caio back to his home, but no one is allowed close because Caio doesn’t want anyone knowing his family is dead and he’s all alone. Too bad Roman doesn’t listen to this. They get in a little quarrel and Caio spends forever staring into fires and being numb to the world. Then he goes into labor, and while he’s in labor Roman tells him about how he knew Caio’s dead mate, the father of his soon to be baby. Blake was a part of Roman’s pack. Caio then gives birth. They decide they need to go back to Roman’s pack, although Caio is very reluctant. They get into trouble on the way. Some rogue wolves (same ones that killed Blake and hunted Caio pre Roman life) are hunting them now. They spend forever being chased and hunted, and trying to stay alive. Like I guess at this point I’m irritated? Because there’s maybe 40 pages left and almost all of those are spent on them being chased around. Eventually they get back to the pack, and Caio is finally accepted because he was Blake’s mate. Not because they decide it’s time to stop being prejudice toward foxes (which would have been a fucking spectacular ending) but because Caio ‘belonged’ to another wolf. No more talk about it, he’s just pack. We were reduced to just a tiny ole epilogue of Roman and Caio actually ‘being together’. But were they really? From the way this book flowed, and even how it ends - with Caio going into ‘heat’ and Roman ‘fucking’ him, and a small talk about kids - do they even freaking like each other!? It felt more like settling and rushed affairs to me. I’m not even sure if I’m supposed to believe they’re a mated couple now. I think this book was going for HEA, but it fell flat.
At least for me. I started this review with 3 stars, and as I went on I reduced it to 2 stars. The more I wrote, the more I realized I really wasn’t a fan of this plot. There’s soooo much that could have been done with that beautiful Wolf/Fox war and how things could finally change between the two. Or an epic budding romance for two MCs that deserved a bit of love in their lives. But nothing was done about it. Sadly.
I know there’s a second book out there. Not sure if that one does a better job of all this, maybe I’ll take a peek at it just to feel a bit better.

UHHHH idk what to rate this. It wasn't like super deep story wise or the bestest ever but it was fun and cute to read. I'll give... 3.85 mostly for cuteness
Rating (All ratings use a Scale of 1-5) = 3.5 stars Blurb = 3.5 My Genre Scale = 5 Odds if not your genre = 2
Development of: = *World = 3.5, world and background are developed slowly. There is not a lot of info dumping at the front. Questions that naturally come up like what did the foxes do or why did so many omegas die during the war are answered, but it is slowly revealed throughout the story (more organically). *Characters = 3.5 *Plot = 3.5
What stood out (taking in consideration I've completed over 2000 m/m books) = Nothing of real note stood out. It was just a solid entertaining read.
Mood Type : Appeal to those looking for... (and /or those who should avoid) A solid shifter mpreg with likable m/c's, and a very resilient omega. A good tale on overcoming legitimate grudges and prejudices.
Warnings = None other than somewhat Insta-love"ish", but not atypical for shifters. HFN/HEA = Yes
Series Notes = 1st in a new series. 2 currently out as of the end of April. *Reading on? Eventually. I like to read books within a series back to back, so I will probably wait for more to come out. *Reading back to back? N/A *Can be easily read without the previous? N/A
Rating Notes = (SubPlots, thoughts, etc... ) The backstory was very intriguing. The pacing was strong. Biggest complaint was the timeline was very unclear at times enough to give pause but not really distract. I stayed engaged throughout.
*************** Below is my philosophy on reviewing! *************** 1. I try to take into account and note common pet peeves noted by other readers 2. "Brain candy' does not necessarily carry a negative connotation. (What is brain candy? Publishing industry 's version of pop music - Typically: formulaic, from a prolific author published often and quickly (like monthly), things escalate fast, and are often solved easily etc..) It has its uses: to pass time when tired, on the beach, etc... The problem comes when "brain candy" is unexpected or even disguised. 3. Why rate the blurbs? : Like many readers, I do not like to think I'm reading one kind of story; just to end up with another. But...I also don't think a book should be docked stars for being as stated. If I don't like stories about "_________", and I choose to read it; I shouldn't give it 2 stars based JUST on my preferences. Unless... it wasn't clear in the blurb. 4. Other Factors that effect my perspective when reviewing: Since 2009, I have exclusively read m/m. My 1st was in 2007. I am a Kindle diehard, and I never do audio for m/m. I read at least 100+ books a year - with an average length of 220± pages. My Goodreads lifetime rating (at the start of 2022) was a 3.60 average for 1715 books. Which considering, one should be better at picking out books the more one reads, I feel is an accurate average. I have over 800 reviews within the m/m genre here on Goodreads. 5. I'm really confused by reviews that consist of just 2 to 3 sentences - with no explanation or evidence. I'm even more baffled when it receives "likes". I'm unsure of how it is useful to others on whether or not to pick a book, for example: "It was a fun read". Umm okay... What made it fun? For that matter, what do you define as fun? Do not even get me started on people who have rated over a 1000 books with a 4.99 rating average. How is that helpful? And there's is absolutely no way that every book is above average great / 5 star read. Why even bother to rate books? 6. I am not a writer nor a wordsmith, but I am a passionate reader. I joined the m/m group years ago, but I mostly lurk. I like to ask questions, debate, and quite possibly play Devil's advocate - which is hard to do online, with unknown people - to whom you are also an unknown- and no body language is available to convey intent. Plus, true debates seems to be a lost art form where respect and even friendliness can be shown between those with fundamentally different opinions.
Enemy at the gate, let them in or kill them? After the great war, the shifter world changed. There were new alliances and new enemies. There were new conflicts and much miscommunication. Caio, was an omega fox shifter, who was pregnant and running for his life. His alpha mate, Blake gave him instructions on a route to run to safety if he ever found the chance. He was being hunted by the wolfe shifters who had released him. He was malnourished, emaciated so his effort, was valiant. Then he ran right into a wolf pack. Roman, alpha recently ascended to Alpha. He wanted to be a better Alpha to the pack, than his father. We are introduced to Roman's inner circle who are a great group of A/B/O who protect the pack. Everyone has different baggage from the great war. Some were able to store their baggage away and a few dragged it along with them. The foxes and wolves have a bad history. Roman must decide what happens to Ciao. They walk a tightrope with the direction their relationship takes. Ciao, is absolutely amazing! Roman, is a good guy and an amazing Alpha. Roman, lets Ciao stay, but what does that do to Pack? Does Ciao feel comfortable? Does Pack welcome Ciao? There are lots of reveals and in some places more questions pop up. Old friendships and relationships are revealed. This is an excellent start to a series and an intriguing new world and relationships. all the Pack characters are fun and intriguing, can't wait to read their stories. Well done!
Run to You is a great start to a new series with wonderful characters, excellent world building, an intriguing storyline and I really enjoyed it. Caio is on the run and needing help but there is so much bad blood between the foxes and the wolves that Roman's pack is reluctant to even save him from imminent death. When Roman decides to bring Caio into the pack to allow him to recover and get strong enough to be able to return to his home there is a lot of opposition from several pack members as well as a lack of communication so that Caio is even more uncertain of what his future holds and what the wolves intentions are. I love how their relationship develops and how supportive and caring Roman is to Caio. They face a lot of adversity and they will have to make some very difficult decisions if they want to be together. I love the ending, the secondary characters are interesting and I look forward to reading the next book in this new and exciting series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
That's a nice start for a new shifter series, with new rules and new settings. I enjoyed a lot, but I must say, I'm a bit confused about the time-line and how old the characters are. It is mentioned that the war ended 3 years prior if I'm not mistaken, and that Roman's father became alpha leader at the start of the war and his ruling was of 3 decades... is everyone in their 40s? Is it that aging is different because they are shifters? I think the author may have made a mistake (or I did), but even though it left me confused at times, the rest of the story was amazing. I can't wait to read the rest of he series, I hope we get a redeeming book for Zayn (even though he is already redeemed from my POV, but he has a lot of growing to do)

This will sound repetitive but I am so not a fan of mpreg. Or omegaverse. Why do you read it, then, you might ask. And if you do find the answer, do let me know.
But it wasn't... Bad? (I am starting to dislike this phrase). It was enjoyable enough to finish.
To make long story short, it was a bit too focused on Colby's unfortunate situation, his unreasonable (but justified) fear was making the book a bit to glum (dark?) When it was obviously put in some weird future or something and had a pretty tragic but still unique sounding world that was only mentioned briefly.
I do wish... Let me rephrase: for a book that was stereotypically centered around an abused and hurt (and pregnant) omega finding that one alpha and pack that would care for him, it was a good book.
If I had to say 1 thing about the story it’s that. My first time reading this author and didn’t know what to expect, I have read other omegaverse MPREG stories but this is the first fox shifter. The story brings up a lot of points it doesn’t fully explain. - why are all the shifters separated by species - more as to how the war came to be - why the chase of foxes specifically
The entire story surrounding Blake. That’s another part that doesn’t do it for me, he had a partner and was pregnant from him before he ended up moving on with a different one. I don’t feel there was enough time to separate those 2 events to make falling in love not seem instant.
This is the introduction to the MOONSHADOW DEN. CLAIRE CULLEN is the ultimate shifter writer. She writes her shifters with such love and care regardless of the type of shifter they are. Her understanding of the world of shifters are unmatched. Roman is the Prime Alpha of his wolf shifter pack. After the last big shifter uprising, he is trying to rebuild. Caio is an Omega Fox. He is on the run after his Alpha mate is killed. This has a happily ever after and a wonderful bunch of characters waiting to see if their next. I loved this Book and I'm hoping more will find their mates in the future. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
What a fantastic start to a new series. I loved it! This world is unique. Torn apart by an all out war that pits wolves against the aggressors... hyenas; with foxes caught in the middle. This opening segment features Caio... pregnant fox running from rogue wolves. Running straight into the arms of Roman...alpha prime of his wolf pack. There is redemption, acceptance, challenges, strength, rogues, violence, mercy, compassion, and cuddles. You will love this book! I can't wait to read the next one.
I love this author’s shifter books, the world building is different and unique. There’s no fated mates, no love at first sight, the loving relationship was built from scratch. Roman was rough on the outside but actually a softie, especially for a pregnant omega. Caio’s background story was heartbreaking and he had the strong will to survive because of his cub. It was a hard earned HEA. If you love a good shifter book, make sure to read this one and check out the author’s other works.
A very quick read, simple story, likable characters, it was exactly what I needed for an evening with a blanket and a cup of tea. Caio, a fox shifter, is running for his life, chased by a pack of werewolves right into another pack's territory. He doesn't expect any better treatment as foxes are numer 1 public enemy due to their involvment in a war few years ago. He misinterprets any kind gestures as a mind game or preparation for another fox hunt with him in the center, so it comes as quite a shock that Roman doesn't want to kill him.
An engrossing read, there's Mpreg, if that turns anyone off, I'd just like to say its written with very little detail and feeling. Almost an invisible part of the story. Despite it being a slow burn, it really didn't touch much upon the two characters and things just happened. Regardless of it, I liked it as an angst free read that didn't demand a lot from me.
I had this book on a list for a few days and for some reason never felt line reading it. But I’m glad I did because this is a really good book. I loved to see the changes in Caio and how Roman protected him. I’m not really a fan of slow burn usually, but this one was well done and their story felt natural, like I was with them there watching their love grow. Can’t wait to check the other books in the series
