When Maria tumbles back in time to ancient Scotland near the MacClaren Keep, she must set aside her skepticism to see what’s really in front of her—her true love…
Atheist scholar Maria Olmos has spent her life debunking the beliefs of others and writing books. She doesn’t believe in much, so when she finds herself in ancient Scotland, she decides she must be in the middle of an extremely dedicated and elaborate prank. It’s the only logical explanation.
Like the rest of his family, Bran MacClaren’s lost love has returned in the form of a confused woman from the future. But unlike the former reincarnated time-travelers, not only does Maria show no interest in him—the man she was destined to reunite with—but she actually gets involved with a guard for the MacClaren’s sometimes-enemy Lord Weatherby.
Bran and other time-lost women do their best to convince Maria of the truth of her situation, but as they do, the already tenuous situation gets even more complicated when Maria finds herself drawn to both men. Caught between them, she’s even more confused than ever.
And when the tension eventually spills over and real blood flows, it forces her to finally admit the situation is far more real than she thought, and that her true love is right in front of her.

Book: Highlander Needed Author: Rebecca Preston Series: Highlander In Time, Book #13 Release Date: May 14, 2022 Print Length: 182 Overall Rating: 5 Stars Blog Rating: 5 Saltire Flags
Bran MacClaren discovers a woman named Maria Olmos from the future looking exactly like his beloved deceased wife. Now this is not uncommon with the people living within the walls of MacClaren.
This skeptical academic and writer does not believe in much and thinks someone is playing a well thought out hoax on her. Maria even thought she might be at a taping of a re-enactment show but there were no camera’s or proof. Was it an historical reenactment or a weird cult? Maria was even more freaked out when Bran insisted she and a group of American women from the the twenty-first century were the reincarnation of their dead sixteenth century Scottish wives!
Maria soon realizes she is in medieval Scotland and somehow traveled through time. Furthermore, this reincarnation of dead Scottish women had something to do with a witches curse! After she meets all the other women from her time she is convinced these women were somehow forced to marry these men. Can she save these women who must be drugged or brain washed or will she realize Bran is her forever soulmate?

Controversial, skeptical and with a difficult vision of what she considered her reality, María was turning out to be a tough nut to crack. At the beginning of the story, I was with a big smile believing that at last the enigmatic guardian of Lord Weatherby was going to have his chance, but something else turned out. The thing got ugly, and curiosity made me read the story at once because I wanted to know where it was going to end. Drama, a dangerous situation, and a need to consider open-mindedness make this story interesting and intriguing. I really like these time travel stories and each time the women are more different and the plots more complicated. Action, suspense, doubts, confusion, strong emotions, violence, romance, and passion. I voluntarily reviewed this copy which I liked very much.
As a devout atheist and believer in empirical science, it clearly was hard for Maria to believe she had been transported through time to the 15th century. Watching Bran and Maria try sort out the situation was a bit awkward. Assumptions, influence of others and overriding weight of correcting for the curse really pushed Maria’s buttons of resistance. With a misunderstanding as a trigger, the reality and frailty of life in this time was revealed. I like to both Bran and Maria eventually reflected on the situation to embrace and share with each other what was really important. It’s always satisfying to see a HEA in the end!

Maria is an academic that writes books debunking traditional beliefs. She believes everything can be explained rationally. When she is sent back in time, she doesn’t believe it. When she is told she is the reincarnation of Bran’s wife, she doesn’t believe it. When she is told the other 21st century women have come to marry their soulmates, she doesn’t believe it. It takes more than that to shake her beliefs and almost causes some real problems that are unexpected. Rebecca Preston always writes a great time travel with characters that are well rounded. This one has a heroine that takes almost too long to come to recognize what’s in front of her. Great read with a lot of drama and a great HEA.
Maria Olmos is an author who does not believe in God or magic. She is in Scotland to research her new book. When she goes for a walk around the hotel she suddenly finds herself transported to the past. She does not believe it and thinks someone is playing a trick on her. Bran MacClaren is still grieving his dead wife. When a woman turns up that looks exactly like her he is amazed. It takes a while for him to realise that Maria is not his wife. Are his feelings for her real or does he still think it is his wife??
This is another good time travel story in this series.

Bran MacClaren finds a woman named Maria Olmos from the future who looks exactly like his deceased wife. Now this is not uncommon with the people living within the walls of MacClaren Keep. In fact this has happened 13 times before. But this time, Maria is convinced these women were somehow forced to marry these men. and is determined to "save" them. I loved this twist on this story. As always, this book is full of sizzle, steam, twists, action, drama, and more. All 13 books are available to read for free with Kindle Unlimited. All of these books have their own unique twist and are great reads.

I love Time Travel books and Highlander time travel are even better and Ms Preston does the genre very well indeed! This one has the young lady assuming a COS play done very well indeed but comes to realise she is indeed in the past when the land around her is too well done too! She is a writer and believes in only what can be proven tangibly, to her detriment in this situation
Still, a very good read that I enjoyed very much indeed! and look forward to reading the rest of this series which I seem to have missed :( I received an ARC copy of this and am leaving this review freely and with no reservations whatsoever
Highlander In Time continues to be one of my favorite Scottish Time Travel Romance. The story is wonderful and I love the characters. One of the best things about each new book in the series is that in addition to the newcomer we get to see what the previous ladies have been up to. I always plan to read Rebecca Preston’s books when I have the next day off, that way when I get sucked in by the story I don’t have to put it down. “Highlander Needed” is another great book. I enjoyed the story and the characters, and cannot wait for what comes next.
Maria, our protagonist, is a prickly character who shows little ability for self-reflection until almost the end of the story. As a result, she isn’t as likable a character as many of our earlier time-lost women. Yes, this is part of her stubborn refusal to accept time travel, God, etc., but it doesn’t need to be a wall that precludes a friendly warmth that other of the women before her have had. Just saying—I didn’t warm to her, because she isn’t a very warm character, and that detracted from the story for me.
Bran can't believe his eyes. Could it really be his wife?
Rebecca Preston is absolutely amazing. She is one of my go to authors although I must admit I have a few. The main characters were perfect for eachother and the story flowed perfectly. I can't wait to see what Ms. Preston has for us next.
I enjoyed Maria and Bran's romance. There were a couple very surprising twists here that made this entry in this series feel a bit different than the others. The writing was good, the story entertaining and the characters likable. All and all a very good book. This is my volitional, forthright review.
Arc review For honest Review Maria olmos is a atheists scholar and a writer with many books written . when she is tossed back in time to the 16 th century to Scotland where she meets the other women that the same thing has happened to them and marry the men of fate that look like their dead wifes. Awesome .
Time travel story that’s excellent. Maria a writer and atheist who has no belief in God, magic or the supernatural. Suddenly her world is turned on end as she stumbles upon Wetherby Castle. The characters are unique, interesting and keep the reader turning pages. I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Preston.
This was a good time travel romance. I really liked Maria, she had a very natural skepticism about the entire situation which I really found believable. I liked the chemistry between her and Bran. This was an enjoyable read.

I love time travel and when it is done correctly it is magical. This story is magical. I did like Maria and her confusion at first. The other characters were there to help her in her journey. I was mesmerized with the story. This is another wonderful story in the series.

I loved reading this time travel story. I was hooked into the story and the characters right from the start and could not put it down. I loved it and cannot wait to read more from this author and more of this series. Great read, well written.

Maria is not my favorite person until it's tooo late. She want's to be a myth buster and prove that things aren't what they seem. These women have given up the future to be in the past. Talk about the truth biting you in the butt!!! good read.

I really enjoyed this one. It is a little different to the others in that there there is no big mystery to sove, no huge drama if not for Maria trying to come to terms with her new life and Bran grieving his wife. I loved Baldric in this one, he is such a great character. Engaging read with great attention to detail, wonderful characters and well written. This is a great addition to the series.
A highly entertaining, heartwarming and fun adventure through time filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists and exciting emotional turns. An edge of your seat roller-coaster from beginning to end.
As Maria was interested in superstition folklore religion witches and magic, she didn’t believe in any of it. Then she was swept back in time and didn’t believe it either. Sooner than later she found all she didn’t believe in was true.
It was good and different again from other books as to the woman coming back in time. Her reactions and how they influenced the people of time. It was entertaining.
sorry this one was my least favorite of the series. REALLY didn't like Maria much as a character in general much less as the heroine. Hopefully the next one is better.
I was wring when I said Scarlet was the worst. Maria is. She is incredibly self-centered and unlikable. Bran deserved better. Baldric too, for that matter.
