Now an Amazon bestselling author, Sylvia Price is an author of Amish and contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She especially loves writing uplifting stories about second chances!

Sylvia was inspired to write about the Amish as a result of the enduring legacy of Mennonite missionaries in her life. While living with them for three weeks, they got her a library card and encouraged her to start reading to cope with the loss of television and radio, giving Sylvia a new-found appreciation for books.

Although raised in the cosmopolitan city of Montréal, Sylvia spent her adolescent and young adult years in Nova Scotia, and the beautiful countryside landscapes and ocean views serve as the backdrop to her contemporary novels.

After meeting and falling in love with an American while living abroad, Sylvia now resides in the US. She spends her days writing, hoping to inspire the next generation to read more stories. When she’s not writing, Sylvia stays busy making sure her three young children are alive and well-fed.

This book is an excellent story. The author has teaching moments written into the story line. She does these in such a way that they instruct the reader in how to apply these truths to life without being “preachy”.
This book is about one of the daughters (the second oldest: Rebecca) and how she has avoided past ‘hurts’ by shutting herself off from others and the events that allowed her to ‘re-enter’ a happy life again.
It is a delight to pick up a book by Sylvia Price and know it is a clean, wholesome story.
I received an ARC from the author with a request for a review. This is my honest review along with an encouragement for you to get this book. I suggest you read the prequel “A Promised Tomorrow” by Sylvia Price (which is on free) and gives background information about the Yoder family

PEACE FOR YESTERDAY is the first book in the YODER FAMILY SAGA series and it was an enjoyable read especially since I had already read the prequel and was eagerly awaiting this book. This is Rebecca's story and it had twists and turns along with secrets, sadness, heartache, hard work and ultimately romance and love. We learn of Rebecca's withdrawal from all things social, especially at their church, due to her breakup with her boyfriend two years before. She never tells anyone what happened between them since it hurt too much.

I loved how Rebecca's family was involved throughout. They opened a bakery in town after their father's death but two of her sisters also hold outside jobs. Things are going better than her family hoped at the bakery but Rebecca doesn't like that an old school friend, Peter, comes into the bakery almost daily to make purchases especially since he wants to have conversations with her. It was nice to see some of her fears get allayed and how she opens up to him with the possibility of a future. It was heartbreaking when she overhears gossip concerning her and Peter and she wants nothing to do with him from that moment on without any explanation. I loved her mother's wisdom and how both her and Peter's trust in God ultimately led them back to each other. I liked how Rebecca's two younger sisters tried to help her open herself up to a new love because they didn't like to see her hurting.

There were a lot of emotional moments along with beautiful descriptions. I enjoyed when Rebecca and Peter spoke from the heart to each other. There was nice closure and a happily ever after as portrayed in the epilogue. There are three more sisters and I look forward to reading each of their stories.

Ms. Price is a fairly new to me author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

I have moved on to book one of this series by Sylvia Price and I have now read Rebecca's story. We find out that she was once in love and that she was planning on marring her sweetheart but he had other ideas and was not ready for marriage. He broke up with her and moved away to another Amish establishment leaving her brokenhearted.
Because of this Rebecca decides that she will never again give her heart to anyone and that she will just become an old maidle. She plans on staying with her widowed mother and working in the bakery for the rest of her life.
What she doesn't really know is that one of the boys she was friends with in school has been in love with her for years and now that she is available he wants to court her and make her his Frau. So in true fashion he starts visiting her at the bakery to rekindle their relationship. Unfortunately Rebecca wants no part of this arrangement and spurns his affection. So, her sisters set her up so that Peter will have to drive her home. She enjoys the time she spends with him and their relationship starts to bud. But then, something happens to cause her to have doubts and worry about him leaving her too so she breaks off the relationship. What will happen to them? Will they be able to work through their problems and have a future with each other?
I know I was pleased with this story and I know you will be too. Good reading. I also need to state that I received this book as an ARC copy from the author for my honest review of the story.

I received an advance reader copy of Peace for Yesterday by the author.

Rebecca Yoder has vowed to never get her heart broken again after her first love had ended their relationship. So, she avoids any social gatherings in her Amish community.

Peter Girod has loved Rebecca since they were younger and visits the bakery often where she works with her sisters. Rebecca tries to avoid any contacts with Peter.

Her mother and her sisters are concerned about Rebecca and want her to find joy again. When Rebecca's sisters make up a plan to bring Rebecca and Peter together, Rebecca finds out that she does enjoy his company and wants to spend more time with Peter.

But after hearing some gossip about her, and her previous boyfriend, Rebecca retreats in fear and does not want to get her heart broken again. Miriam, Rebecca's mother, has a talk with Rebecca about working through her fears, and Rebecca has to make a decision about what to do.

A warmhearted story of love, hope, and having faith that God has a good plan for your life.

Rebecca has been hurt before as far as love is concerned. She was determined that because of that hurt to remain single and never fall in love because her heart could not take it. Ben has always thought about Rebecca but was not sure how to get her to notice him. Rebecca's sisters thought they would be a good couple and ended up staging a situation where Ben had to give Rebecca a ride home. A friendship starts and Rebecca is opening her heart. Rebecca overhears a conversation and gets upset and starts to think she is foolish for opening her heart. Will Ben and Rebecca be able to work through things or will Rebecca continue to let fear plan her life.

Rebecca was heartbroken when her first beau Hiram broke up with. He apparently found her too clingy and interested in grown up plans for planning a family and marriage

Peter Girod was someone who had long been a friend, then her crush in grade eight.

Can she trust in God, herself and Peter enough to take another chance on love?

Moving beyond psin with the help of faith, fate, and maybe a meddling sister or two might not be easy. It could prove to be a real blessing though

Amish life with hardship and faith tested family, life and romance

Opening a baker shop it was a blessing for Miriam family: they can pay bills and mortgage, keep their house and farm,
but also a lot of work.
Miriam daughters are in the age of courting, but seems they don't put a though into it.
"In God time", Miriam tells herself.
About all, Miriam is preoccupied of Rebecca, that struggles after her boyfriend broke their relationship.
I can relate with Miriam disconfort, every mothers wish all the best for her daughters.
I'm barely put down the book, I enjoyed reading it!

This is a great start to the Yoder Family Saga that follows widow Miriam and her four unmarried daughters - Megan, Rebecca, Josephine and Lillian as they discover God's plan for them and the hope He provides for a happy tomorrow. I loved the sweet and emotional Amish romance between the second daughter, Rebecca and Peter Girod. i knew as soon as I started reading that I would not be able to put the book down until I read the last word. I look forward to what happens next with this lovely family. I received an advance reader copy of Peace for Yesterday and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I received an ARC to review: Rebecca and Peter's story is a sweet and entertaining read but is by no means superficial. After the devastating loss of her father, Rebecca also needs to deal with pain from the past - of a broken heart - before she can move ahead in life and love. Family and faith are at the core of the story and the characters' lives. Poignantly written, this story both entertains and encourages one's faith in God.

When we left the prequel to this series, the Yoder family had just received an envelope from an anonymous person with enough money to open the baker that Mariam had wanted to open.

Rebecca and Peter started seeing each other. Events occurred that had her doubting their relationship. Will their love for each other and praying to God for direction be enough for them to realize what God wants for their lives?

I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

This tells about the daughter Rebecca who is 20 and thought she had found her husband but it doesn’t happen. Now she’s having doubts that she’ll be alone with no husband or family of her own. She also wonders if something is wrong with her. Can she let her fears go and see if she can find another to fall in live with?

This book by Sylvia Price is a continuation of the Yoder Family Saga. Rebecca is twenty years old and has already suffered the loss of two men she truly loved. The man she thought she would marry walked away without even looking back and her father got cancer and died. After such devastating losses, she put her heart on ice trying to spare herself any future heartache. But Peter, with the help of her younger sisters, sets about to thaw her heart once again.

This is the first in the Yoder Family Saga. It is about 20 yr.-old Rebecca who is battling with fears and insecurities from a prior relationship. These emotions have made it difficult to form lasting relationships. The part that was brought home for me was when her mother had a hard talk with her in which she advised that Rebecca choose her fears or God's guidance.

Rebecca was really devastated by Hiram when he broke off their relationship a couple of years ago. Fear of being hurt again makes it difficult to maintain a relationship with anyone else – especially when that someone is somebody you don’t want to be around.

Sweet story spiced with the drama of overcoming obstacles

This story shows insight into the near disasters we create for ourselves and others when we put fear over faith. The author handles the realizations and reversals of direction in a satisfying way.

Great story about not being guided by fear, trusting God... and family.

The moments where the main characters are having their separate epiphanies might require tissues.
