From the bestselling author of STRIKE BACK, Chris Ryan returns with the second in his new action-packed series.
Tough enough? Smart enough? Jack will require all his skills just to stay alive as a Special Forces Cadet . . .
In this second book, the cadets are sent to North Korea.
A British agent investigating the rogue state's nuclear capabilities has gone missing. The secretive nature of life in Pyongyang means that unfamiliar adults would be attract suspicion and fall under immediate surveillance. So the cadets form part of a young pioneers tour to the North Korean capital. Once there, they must use their skills and training to find out more about the missing agent.
In the course of their investigations, they forget the one rule every undercover operator must trust nobody. When a local teenager they befriend betrays his suspicions to the North Korean secret police, the young cadets must use all their skill to escape the authorities and the country. But can they locate the British agent at the same time?
Colin Armstrong (b. 1961), usually known by the pen-name Chris Ryan, is a British author, television presenter, security consultant and former Special Air Service sergeant. After the publication of fellow patrol member Andy McNab's Bravo Two Zero in 1993, Ryan published his own account of his experiences during the Bravo Two Zero mission in 1995, entitled The One That Got Away. Since retiring from the British Army Ryan has published several fiction and non-fiction books, including Strike Back, which was subsequently adapted into a television series for Sky 1, and co-created the ITV action series Ultimate Force. He has also presented or appeared in numerous television documentaries connected to the military or law enforcement.
Max and his Cadet friends have been pushed hard by their ‘Watchers’ – Adult Training Officers in the Special Forces Cadets. They are fitter, stronger, and able to cope with stress and dangerous situations like never before. Which is lucky, because their second mission is a huge step up from their first.
A Special Forces Undercover Intelligence Agent has gone missing in North Korea. It is a country ruled by an iron fist and a merciless army. The cadets don’t believe how different it really is until they arrive and are constantly treated with suspicion. They are told to trust no one.
They have a job to do and when it is time, they fly into action. Glad for their tough training, they are suddenly wondering whether they will survive, let alone free a fellow angent and flee the country.
With even more action than the first book in this series (Siege), the cadets are dodging search lights, soldiers, police and gunfire. They must work together to complete their mission, pushing their wits and bodies to their absolute limits. Another page-turning, non-stop action read in this new series. I’ll be pouncing on the next one as soon as it hits the shelves!

This book was just as good as Siege, the first book in the Special Forces Cadets series and I liked how the cadets bonded and worked together as a group rather than a group of individuals. An exciting read.
I am eating thru this series! It is so so good. The dynamics of the characters with each other, along with their unlikely allies is so powerful to witness. The team and their Watchers are really coming along as a combined force to be reckoned with. Cannot wait to see their other adventures, and here's to me hoping that all of them will make it out alive by series end, even tho I've had the sinking suspicion since the start that it won't be the case... 🤧
How to blackmail North korea? By telling them kids kick their asses.
da fuq?! Why would they care if you tell the internet all about your raid inside their land? Every day there are memes and videos of people mocking the fat kim and his country.
The author dont seem to have a realistic idea how the world works.

Enjoyed getting to see a new side to all the other character. that didn’t get much spotlight in the first book. Definitely had me on the edge of my seat and im excited to see where the series goes next
This is a great book, for a short book it was very action packed. It is great seeing the team develop further as a unit. Normally i like longer books better however these are great little reads.
