“You look like shit, so you should get off whatever diet you’re on,” he snarled and added angrily, “And what the fuck have you done to your hair?”
Hilt tries desperately to figure out what the hell he should do. Two years have passed, and the woman who crushed him now says she made a mistake and wants to start over. She'd felt life was slipping away, and another man had given her what she needed, but that man moved on to someone else, and she spent time thinking about what she really wanted. And now she stood there and said what she wanted was him and that he would make her happy. Their kids would be happy too. His goddamned mother would be beyond happy. But what about him? Would he be happy? Saying yes to the woman he once thought was his whole world would be the right thing to do. Except there's also the memory of that one night, a couple of weeks after his wife moved out. He'd been happy that night.
On the outside, Ariel is moving on. Almost two years later, life had settled into a routine. Work, grocery shop, clean her house, go for a run. Rinse and repeat. On the inside, frustration kept building because how can you restart when nothing around you has changed? How can you truly move on when everything inside you is different, but everyone you know lives the same life they always did? It felt like she couldn't breathe freely in her hometown anymore, so she packed up and left, settling in a small rental house outside Seattle. And there he is. The man she spent a wild night with just after she took the plunge and just before everything came crashing down around her. The man she never thought she'd see again.
Please This book contains crude words and somewhat explicit adult scenes. If this isn’t your thing, then this book might not be for you.
I liked this. When they first meet, both are still legally married but separated. Two years later both are single. Not a manwhore type but both have been with someone else during separation. Evil ex. Dual POV. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. Girl posse. MC brotherhood. HEA. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series. Huge cliffhanger line for next book with a different couple.

Hilt and Ariel are both at crossroads when they meet; both are in the process of getting divorced. They have one night together but don't exchange phone numbers, which they both regret. Two years later they meet up again.
This is the fourth book in a series of connected standalone novels, set around an MC in Montana. The books are set chronologically and the characters interact in all the books so reading the previous books definitely give you history and enrich the experience of reading this book, but you can probably get away with reading the books out of order. There is no cliffhanger.
This book revolves around Hilt, the amiable bartender at The Roadhouse, the MC’s bar, where plenty of action has occurred in previous books. Hilt’s ex-wife has treated him appallingly. He has no intention of ever getting involved in a serious relationship again. His ex is tolerated around the club but not liked, because Hilt is respected and liked by everyone in the club.
Ariel is a jewellery maker who sells her work in the shop where Maggie (from book 3) works. She lives in a different state and has gone through a lot in the last few years. When talking to Maggie about the changes in her life, she decides to up roots and rent Meggie’s old house after it becomes vacant. Now her daughters have moved on to college and away from home, she decides that moving somewhere completely different and away from difficult memories is what she needs. She’s not looking for a relationship either.
When Hilt and Ariel meet there are fireworks and not of the good kind. They argue loudly and Hilt hurts Ariel with thoughtless comments because of his own baggage. This story revolves around them both trying to work through their baggage and meet in the middle. Through difficulties with families and dangers to them and the club, they try to find the ‘easy’ together.
This is a book of contrasts between the relationship and the outside world, the ease of how they relate to each other compared to the drama of how their families react. Both characters have quite easy going personalities that have been taken advantage of in different ways in the past, but they have a core of strength. Having the loyalty and support of the MC and their ladies makes all the difference to both of them.
This is a sweet, passionate and intriguing story. I love that this series looks at the relationships of 50-something bikers and the women that they meet who are of an equivalent age. They all have histories that they need to navigate but they also have experience and self-knowledge on their side. There is passion and heat but there is also sweetness and kindness as a contrast. There is hot sex followed by aches and pains the morning after, along with awkward discussions about menopause and vasectomies.
I imagine this book will mainly appeal to people over 35, but I think it would be eye-opening to people in their 20s, that maybe life doesn’t end when you get your first wrinkle, and that you don’t have to be under 30 to enjoy hot sex and fall in love.
Apart from everything else this is a great story and I will continue to buy everything this author writes because she creates great characters that I enjoy spending time with and places them in interesting situations. I definitely recommend this book.
Good one to end it on I guess. I was looking on this author's facebook page and apparently she hasn't published or even posted anythign since August of 2023. Best wishes to her and hope she's doing okay. Her readers are worried about her.
Hilt and Arial was filled with people getting hurt and not one suspect until nearly the end of the book. We had both former in-law families working to sabotage Hilt and Ariel's love match.
Good story and enjoyed the stories I read of hers. I guess now I have to find another new author since I've finished up all her books. :(
When this book showed up in my Kindle library (I had preordered) I couldn’t wait to read it, though knew when I finished I’d be sad—because how long will it be before I can visit with this group of friends again? May have to go back to the beginning and reread all, including Thor and maybe even the whole Brothers series. Love this author!
What a great story Mia Malone weaves. This is Ariel and Hilts story. Tissues may be needed. A one night stand and both are sorry they didn't exchange numbers. A chance meeting and misunderstandings and horrible exes when they meet again two years later.
When you are at the "Crossroads" of your life is a beautiful story.
Crossroads was a great read and totally enjoyed Mia's story. Mia is a wonderful author who writes such compelling life experiences. I can't wait for her next book.
As always such a joy to read! Love that her books are centered around older couples! Just wish the books would come out faster so I would have more to read! And audible also!
Each book gets better. Loved Hilt and Elle's story. This story made me cry, laugh, and she my head. Mia Malone does a great job telling stories about the over 50 crowd!!
I can hear these characters in my head long after I close the book. Hilt‘s „Babe“ is hilariously real. Some very tense moments, some absolutely hilarious moments and some very sad bits. This book has it all and I highly recommend this series, or any book by this author.
Loved this book!! I had a feeling about hilts son. But other stuff I didn’t have a clue it was who it was! My mind was blown. So happy they got a happily ever after! But not I gotta know will Jugger & Alex get a book?? That part was kinda left open.
This author has climbed my list of top favorites with her incredible writing. Her books bring so much joy in to my life. I wish they were published as paperbacks, I would buy them all.
I just love Mia Malone characters. Her characters have drama to deal with and just power through. They are supported by good friends and family, and sometimes they have friends and family that do them wrong. Thank you Mia Malone for taking me out of my own drama and seeing that sometimes good things happen to those of us that carry a lot of baggage.
As with all Malone books I loved this one and it made me reread the whole series and now her other series. Intriguing how it ended for Alex and Jugger. Fantastic book by a fantastic author.
