Life had not been kind to Maisie Decker and Elijah Young. Even after years of being apart, their love for each other never dimmed. Now reunited, they vowed to right the wrongs once and for all.

Well, this was quite darkly exquisite. If you’re familiar with the author’s works you know she doesn’t hold back. This book contains one of my favorite scenes I’ve read. It made me squeeze my legs together but not the kind you might think. You’ll know what I’m talking about if you read the book.

“I hurt myself for you. You hurt yourself for me. I’m not saying it makes us even, but I’m pretty sure it does make us a match made in Hell.”

I loved Maisie and Elijah individually and as a couple. The relationship dynamics were a pleasant bonus for my preference. I enjoyed the overall story and hope to get all the answers in the next book.

Heinous delves into the road to vengeance and feeding inner demons. It would appeal to readers who enjoy graphic horror with a splatter of Romance.

This is HORROR romance. Let me repeat: HORROR. It’s violent, gory, incestuous, and just plain WTF. I’ve never read a more painful sex scene in my whole ass life oh bitch. My coochie shut the fuck down and retreated back into my body.

“I hurt myself for you. You hurt yourself for me. I’m not saying it makes us even, but I’m pretty sure it does make us a match made in Hell.”

What a read this was. Anxiously waiting for part 2. 🫠

I had the opportunity to read an early copy of this story and I have to say that Yolanda has out done herself with this one. When she said "this book will contain some trigger warnings (which I rarely or never do)" I knew this book was going to take me for a ride. But what I didn't expect was to fall head over heels for these two characters. They are beautifully broken and absolutely perfect for each other in all of the wrong and toxic ways.

Heinous teaser: Elijah's only sin was being born

I'll say this, if you have read anything by this author you already know she weaves a tale that will make you question your sanity while simultaneously having you insanely captivated by her characters. She will bring you to the brink of your limits and shove you right over the edge. She'll have you wonder WTF you just read and pondering why you enjoyed it. If you survived Daniel Delaney in 8 Days For Salvation, met Sister Paloma Grace in Nefarious, and enjoyed everything that Daddy Pater has done, you'll have no problem with this story.

🖤 reverse agegap dark taboo romance (YES for me it is a romance)
🖤 39yo h, abuse victim/survivor
🖤 22yo H with a disability - amputee
🖤 severe mental health issues
🖤 extreme gore and violence in all the best ways

Maisie Decker is a woman who's suffered at the hands of those who claimed to love her. She's never been allowed to thrive. She suffers from demons and her grasp on reality is skewed. Yet you are drawn into her web feeling compassion for her plight and remorse for her wrongdoings.

Elijah Young is the charismatic, handsome man who will woo you with his words while secretly plotting your demise. His demons live with him all hours of the day and if you upset them they will come out to play.

The name of the book is how I feel about the book. Absolutely heinous. I want to say more but I don’t want to be flat out cruel and I fear it will be incredibly cruel so maybe I’ll hold my tongue. With that being said (lol me still saying something but in nicer terms) that had no plot or story or anything it was just words but not good words just words. Words with some shock value but nothing. This book was just like nothing ahha. Oh heinous how you are heinous

Yoly..Yoly...Yoly..
Could you BE any more scandalous!!

description

With every book I feel ok, now Yolanda has pushed my limits to the max.
This woman takes it as a challenge and moves the finish line a few hundred yards further.
There are no limits or triggers in her brain so she's taken it upon herself to banish them from readers vocabulary too.

description

How else would you describe a love so evil and cruel, but to the lovers it seems the epitome of selflessness and sacrifice ....which it is in a gruesome kind of way.
Warped doesn't even BEGIN to cover this relationship.

"Pure and vile, whole and fragmented, all-consuming and serene. "

description

Maisy Decker is physically and emotionally stunted. I think a gene rung of compassion towards random population is missing. Mom & Dad took care of that.
Her only loyalty is towards Elijah Young. Which is complete and absolute.
So in a way its kinda cute and sweet...until she reveals the *shudders* grisly truth and I had shivers running down my spine.

description

I'll cuss Yoly then nag her for next book.
Our relationship is twisted like that too
4 stars FOR WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU YOLY!!!

I never like giving a rating to a Yolanda Olson book. Her books were just too crazy for me to even think of them as words printed on paper sort of thing. So just know that the rating does not tell you what I feel about this book. I just put it in because I don't know what else I should put it as.

As for the book.

description

It has the most painful sex scene I've ever read so far (by the description alone). I am still horrified and will be forever. It's so raw and my brain needs a rest right now. If you've read YO before, you'll know what you're going to get.

For those who just want the juicy detail,

Before you get more disgusted, the h is 39 and H is 22.

From Yolanda Olson, whose restless imagination cannot be contained, comes a powerhouse of a story about a broken woman and her fractured devil that saves her.

This story is a testament to true love and the lengths you would go to survive it. Yolanda Olson is a true pioneer for female authors in the field of psychological dark romance.

4-star review!!!

Gosh where do I start with this one. It is probably the darkest book I have read so far, but I still gobbled it up. It is definitely not a read for everyone and I highly recommend checking trigger warnings beforehand. However, Yolanda does an amazing job at making the trauma that both the main characters suffered seem real. Even though it was a difficult read, I still enjoyed the beautiful aspects of Maisie’s and Elijah’s relationship and how well they understood each other. I recommend but proceed with caution.

This is a bloody hell of a freakshow journey.
It's gruesome and creepy as hell. Both MMC makes me shiver till the end.
This is a book that I definitely am unable to love the MMC and want to know what awaits ahead of the story.

It kind of pains me to say this but I'm not sure Yolanda Olson books are for me. I've only read a couple but I never end up loving them. And I know how many love her writing but for me something is missing.

I am a little curious to see what happens when Maisie and Elijah reach their two destinations so I still might read the sequel. Especially because it looks like its from his POV.

Someone once said that if you talk about the devil, he’s bound to appear.
Most would keep silent, hoping that they’d never be found by such a monster, but I prayed for his touch every night.
I knew the devil when I was a child and fell in love with him the first time he taught me that I wasn’t as damaged as I was led to believe that I was.
He cared for me, helped me learn how to smile, and see the world in a different way even though he didn’t realize that he had done so.
But they feared him; hated him.

So seventeen years ago, they ripped him away from me.
What they didn’t know was that he had already created a monster in his very image.
I thought I’d never see him again—I finally resigned myself to that. But then he came back, just like he promised he always would through that smile of his.

After many years and challenges, Maisie Decker is reunited with the one person who could make her happy, but Elijah Young is plagued by demons. Together, they are stronger and set course to regain what they lost.

“I hurt myself for you. You hurt yourself for me. I’m not saying it makes us even, but I’m pretty sure it does make us a match made in hell.”

As this plot unfolds, the connection with Maisie and Elijah strengthens with each proving how far they will go to protect each other. With a combination of psychological and horror elements, these characters endure in the only way they know how, and this story certainly delivers some cringeworthy and memorable content.

Maisie and Elijah are broken but are also survivors, as they are intriguing characters on multiple levels. As some pieces start to come together, more questions arise and I will anxiously await the answers in the conclusion, Hideous.

Heinous is a psychological dark romance that pushes limits. This book would appeal to those who like to play in the deep end of taboo.

Heinous has become one of my favorites from the author.

You meet Maisie who is reunited with Elijah. They escaped the horrors that separated them in the first place, but even though they escaped, they are not truly free. They must go back - back to the monsters. The monsters that were suppose to love them, the monsters that their own demons were created from. Heinous takes you on their journey to go back home, to finally have their freedom. And nothing and no one will get in their way. Maisie and Elijah meet a few people along the way. Things happen. 😉
One even takes something from Maise and now they take a detour to reclaim what was taken before they go home.

My sweetest Elijah. Even though his demons sings the devil's dance, he is always so gentle and caring to Maisie. My heart melts everytime to his words to Maisie. 😭🖤😭🖤

My brave Maisie, the damage soul that has been through soooo much but will not be broken. Elijah holds her heart and she understands and calms his demons. They are one.

I wasn't expecting to feel so much for them. Their bond for each other. The feels. Protecting each other at all cost with no limits. And trust me, it's all cost and no limits Yolanda Olson style so there are warnings for the strong subject matters.

Maisie and Elijah's love over powers the world's cruel, twisted and sick games. They are truly meant to be. I'm so excited to continue their story in part 2.

Monstrous masterpiece

This was such an incredible read! I am never shocked or surprised anymore when I read this author's books. I know going in that ANYTHING could happen in their stories and in this book, ANYTHING DID HAPPEN. Just when I thought the story was going go to one way, it went another. The twist with Maise and Elijah was one I didn't see coming at first. I thought they were one thing, then another then turns out they were another. But give it to Yolanda Olson to make the story even better with it.
I loved the love they had between them, the obsession, the MADNESS oh wow so much madness, I loved the blood and the fight to keep each other happy. Elijah, I LOVED HIM! UGH!!!!! His mania and psychosis made me weak. And the fact that Maise matched his crazy for her own crazy, jealousy and possessiveness just made them a match made in hell. Oh and don't think I haven't been going stir crazy wondering WHAT MAISE LEFT BEHIND. I think I might know what it is but I guess I will see.
When I got to the end my mouth was hanging open. I think this could be up there in one of my top stories by Yolanda Olson and now my only question is "WHEN DO I GET MORE ELIJAH AND MAISE???"
I CANNOT WAIT FOR HIDEOUS!!!!! Since Heinous was told from Maise's POV, Hideous looks like it takes off where book 1 ended and is told in Elijah's POV and I am so anxious for it! This book gets all the wickedly horrifying stars. LOVED LOVED LOVED!

So Dark and Awesome, Can’t Wait For Book 2!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review

If you’re not familiar with Yolonda Olson and her awesome writing style then please read with caution. Yolanda has just become one of my new favorite authors for books that are absolutely dark, forbidden, and non-traditional romance. You could even say this one is not your typical romance at all. This particular book/series has more of a horror side to it and I absolutely loved it. It was a nice creepy dark change from my norm and I am looking forward to what comes next in this series.

This is Elijah and Maisey’s story and their struggles with each other and their darker desires for revenge and payback upon those that have hurt and wronged them. They both come from the same brutal home and abusive upbringing and were forced apart for so long until Elijah came back and stole away Maisey. If you go into this with an open mind and look past their unconventional and forbidden love along with their brutal desires to kill, you will see their love is unconditional and true.

The ending will leave you with more questions then answers and a definite need to know where these two go next. Highly recommend reading TW but I definitely highly recommend this book to anyone that loves dark horror type reads.

Once again Yolanda comes out with a story from hell. Literally. It’s like she goes on a trip there gather some fucked up plot and sex may I add then add them to a book for us to read and go to therapy because of it.
I will not rate this because I always rate according to my feelings and right now I’m scared of myself, so no rating. As for Heinous it’s not for faint hearts and take what I just said seriously. The sex in the book is beyond painful. I felt it and was like “stop movingggg”the entire time. But Yolanda as always casts some Hideous magic on me ‘cause right now I want to know what happens next in Hideous.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't this, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
If you have triggers proceed with caution with this book, as this was the darkest, most twisted book I've read in a long time and since I live in the dark that's saying something.
For me personally I adored the gruesome detailing but struggled to really connect with the characters or plot, or if I did it wasn't both at same time.
Not sure why though as this was well written and I sped through the book unable to pick my jaw up off the floor.

listen - this book isn’t for the faint of heart. i picked this book up on a rec from a facebook group i’m in not really expecting it to be as dark or messed up as it was. few triggers i feel are the hardest to handle were female mutilation and inc3st. know your limits before picking this one up.

3 stars solely because i almost wish this would’ve been a prequel of sorts giving us more background on the characters and how their relationship started. we kind of just get thrown in and i find it hard to feel what connected them besides being abused by the same people. but it was…. interesting to say the least and i will pick up book two mostly out of curiosity 😂

This was the first time I any books by the author. And there are very few words try an express myself and how I felt reading this book I will try.

To start off this book had me confused 75% of the way just trying to understand the relationship between Elijah and Maisie. I just ended up giving up trying to figure out what their relationship was if it’s brother and sister or if it was a mother and child or if it was like an aunt and nephew. I think that is one of the major reasons why I didn’t necessarily enjoy or even understand the book as much as I wanted to. I like to have clear establishment of what the relationship is between characters.

Leaving that to decide we go into the plot of the book. This is a roller coaster at the very best way in trying to describe it. Both the main characters have lived through some horrific thing and are just reuniting after many years apart. They begin their journey for revenge and trying to free themselves from their demons. That’s all I can really say without giving much of a plot away.

Now very very few things will ever trigger me as a reader. I have read pretty much everything under the sun and have not been triggered. I will say that this book has Lenny of things that might put people off of reading it. I will say this they didn’t necessarily deter me from reading or finishing the book. I would say it did not help my understanding of the book. So below I will list the trigger warnings that this because in case it might help.

Potential Triggers
MSBP (FDIA) survivor
Sexual assault survivor
Self-harm
Genital mutilation
Extreme scenes of graphic violence resulting in death
Family love (both forced and consensual)
Severe mental health issues (for both)

To be honest, I believe I have a really high tolerance of disturbing graphics and nothing much would shock me. However, Heinous stunned me speechless and pushed me beyond my limit in a not so nice way.

I applauded the author’s courage to deliver her story without holding back in the gore and darkness. I knew a lot of readers really appreciated the extreme graphic details. However, I found myself cringing and wincing a lot. I could not connect with the writing and I didn’t know where the story was leading me. I was uncertain if I would land in a safe place. The worry and unsettling feelings hindered my enjoyment of the book and the connection to the characters.

Truly, I really appreciate the author’s effort and time in publishing a book. I believe that it has its own audience who would enjoy it. Regretfully, it was a really difficult read for me.

I volunteered to provide an honest review of an advance complimentary copy of this book.

If a book has to give a warning and tells me it’s taboo... EXTREMELY TABOO... I am one-clicking that title without another word said. Heinous is exactly what it says. Taboo, violent, with lots of triggers and so much more; and I couldn’t put it down. The writing had me justifying the behaviour of the characters and waiting to see how they would carry out their next kill and holding my breath wondering if they are going to be caught.

Maisie and Elijah are both harbouring so many demons; Sick, dark and violent demons that cause mayhem and death in gross but fabulously gory ways. Their story is a sad, sadistic tale that made me feel sorry for them and the need for revenge is still there too and I hope it’s vicious too. The love between Elijah and Maisie is obvious to anyone with eyes.

To read this story you will need to have a love for gruesome details and the forbidden to really enjoy it. The plot is great and definitely gives me the need to buy more Yolanda Olson books. I can’t wait for the next book to give me answers.

I’m always apprehensive about opening a Yolanda Olson book and I mean that in the most amazing way. I love that I never know what I’m going to get and everything is on the table.
She doesn’t hold back and she doesn’t gloss over the grittier aspects of life, she yanks you through it by your hair, and I’m here for it!
Heinous deals with mental illness and how it effects the people surrounding it. It deals with family and how unconditional love really is unconditional. (She wrote me a romance, I don’t care what she says.)
Elijah and Maisie are complicated and toxic, jealous and consumed with trust issues. There’s an age gap here and some physical limitations, but at their cores, they really love each other and would do anything for the other. (And they do)
I cannot wait for part 2!!!

If you've ever read a book from Yolanda Olson before then you know you're in for a ride of your life! This book is no exception!
Limits are pushed, and moral boundaries are stretched!

Maisie and Elijah - love has no boundaries!

Just when you think you know what's coming next, Yolanda has thrown another curveball.
The heartbreak of the past, for the hurt and turmoil they've both endured.
The obsession of the present, their love for each other and their need to make each other happy with their 'gifts'.
And finally the intrigue of the future - What is it that Maisie has hidden?!?!?

I've really enjoyed the start to this journey, it's dark and taboo, everything I enjoy from a book!

(I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review)

This the first book by Yolanda that I have read. I will that I felt confused for most of this book. This is a dark taboo romance. I am not completely sure how I feel about some aspects of this book. Maisie and Elijah are traveling together. Maisie has secrets and wants to get closure before telling them to Elijah. Elijah hears and sees things that aren’t there. Maisie has a darkness in her as well. She went through horrible things are a young girl. Things aren’t much better now. Maisie and Elijah have a taboo relationship. They are in love. They aren’t concerned with whether anyone else thinks its right or wrong. Elijah is the only person who hasn’t hurt Maisie. I believe there will be another book that connects to this one and finishes it up. Great job Yolanda.

Might be my new favorite!!

Ok this book, what can say. It's just such a great story, Maisie Decker and Elijah Young are both such broken people that you just love them.
Maisie was severely abused by the people that are supposed to love her. Elijah who was also abused is finally reunited with her. They have escaped their hell and are finally happy together. Of course, their relationship is toxic, filled with demons of their pasts, and own insecurities, but they love each other unconditionally.
This book of course is taboo, dark but well worth the read. Also matter what Yolanda says, to me it's a romance, a dark twisted romance but one just the same.

Bring on Book two!!!!!

“Our love was cruel and evil. It was something no one would understand, but we didn’t care because it was ours.”

Elijah and Maisie’s story is an exciting and hair-raising journey. These two characters have suffered through a harsh and unfair childhood at the hands of their family members. Nothing will prepare you for the horrific actions that take place when insanity takes over. If you’re up for a dark, taboo, and gruesome read, then grab this book and get ready for a spine-tingling adventure that will leave you in a state of extreme shock.

*this book ends on a cliffhanger* get ready for the continuation of this joyride. 😉

So this will probably upset some people be warned. But if you have read anything from this author before then you know what usually happens in her books lol that being said the story is about Maisie and Elijah. They have been through some crazy things but now that they are back together nothing is gonna stop them. They have a few loose ends to tie up but once they do they can be together forever...... Of course the journey to forever had a few twists and turns. Who am I kidding it's a damn rollercoaster from the beginning to the end.
