This was a challenging read to get through and 2nd worse book in series so far.
I'll start by saying I don't like sect building reads. Also what's with mc personality it seems to be all over the place.
Honestly this was just confusing alot with things that don't make sense and mc pulling skills, technique and knowledge out of fin air to fit the moment felt cheap for a better word and lazy sorry say making read dissapointing. Also seemed very wordy at times often unnecessary so also was very dissapointed when Kaiser won the coin toss would be much better if lost can be a bit boring if wins all the time. (Few small losses adds excitement to story.)
Too many characters without character index added to say end book makes very difficult to remember all if can that is.
About duel zones shouldn't they immediately or shortly after duel auto close not wait until mc decides to.?
And constantly using excuse of year and half of training with Sawan for excuse of all new technique was ok at 1st but soon became a 'eye rolls' again really come on.
Skimmed a lot I'm this just so could get through it all, I could say a lot more but think I have said enough sorry to be a downer hear but was expecting to be a lot better.
Hopefully book,10 will be better.

Just…bad.
I liked this series, I never expected too much because the writing was very amateur since the very beginning. However, this book was just bad, I almost stopped reading mid book. Where do I start:
-Overly complex rule systems
-too often Kai would have some technique that he developed in the past but the author never bothered mentioning
-little time spent on development, which is the fun part in my opinion
-author who change the narration from 1st person to 3rd person in a very unnatural and unnecessary way
-the story was boring
-and there were no characters I cared about

Awesome
This particular book wasn't the most fast paced or the most action packed in the whole series but oh was it interesting. Honestly I love this series and what it does but having a book dedicated to explaining this new world and all the different factions and political climates and what not is just so refreshing. And the epilogue was just amazing! The cliff hanger that the author left us on is just! Umph! I can't wait for the next book and I really recommend this book series for anyone with the maturity of a young adult or teenager.

Becoming a True Leader introduces a new arc for Kai, pushing him into an intense, more personal struggle within the Trial Worlds. This shift from being a participant to aiming for leadership feels like it should be a pivotal moment in his journey, but I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet. While the story dives into Kai's inner conflicts and his quest to reclaim lost parts of himself, the transition seems a bit abrupt, almost like it's trying to redefine his role too quickly. There’s certainly a lot of potential for depth here, but I’m on the fence about whether this direction will bring the same excitement and impact as previous arcs.

It was pretty good.
As the foreword mentions, it’s heavy on the explanations. The book is more a set up for further books than anything else, so while it does expand the story some it more gives a great deal of depth to the mechanisms in the universe.
The book itself was alright. It wasn’t the best, but wasn’t the worst either. It tended to jump around a little and with all the details it can be easy to get lost in them and grind to a halt.
Ultimately though, there is enough action and story progression that I think it was a good call to get the hard stuff out of the way first so that hopefully that latter books will be a little less dense with the explanations.

Confusing
Not very good, confusing, not sure if it's because the last book was so long ago I just don't remember what's going on, which says something all on its own as many books are sometimes years apart and the story is still easy to pick up where it left off, or that this is just a jumbled mess, this felt like the first book in series, and not a very good one, where everything and everyone is just sort of thrown together with zero world building, character development or backstory, frankly it was kinda terrible.

The author warns about the pacing slowing down because more exposition is needed to build out the world, and it's clear that there's more exposition than previous books. I'm not convinced that so much was needed, but Ajin still continually intersperses plots so that it doesn't ever slow that much.

slow moving but still good
This book really does involve a lot of explanations about the workings of the world. But having read all the way to book 9, it is still exciting reading these and getting the understanding for things to come in the future. I just know the next one is going to be absolutely out of this world.

A truly spectacular entrance to the series.
I'm not entirely sure but there may have been a
reference to a game I used to play so kudos to that.
I loved this book the explanation went a long way to explain the universe that this book is super cool I can't wait for the next book.

Can't wait for book 10
The foreword is so true. A lot of stuff gets established in this book that's gonna be expanded on in the future. I really like this type of progression since most of the actually confusing loose ends are tied up, while we get new mysteries to uncover.

Great read
I've the world/universe building and all the small intricacies that go along with that. The battles were ok but that to be expected for all the world and faction building going on in this book. Looking forward to the next book.

The warning at the start
The author warns you that this book might not be 100% like the previous ones in the series but I find that to be wrong and I absolutely loved every second of reading this.

Initially confusing but stick with it
I didn't want to have to get to know a whole new cast of characters but then I forgot that that was happening and just went with the f!ow. I am now looking forward to the resolution hopefully in the next instalment.

4/10 that’s generous.
Sluggish, didn’t really get going. Didn’t really inspire much and was a struggle to stay interested. Not the best book in the series by far.
