I absolutely love the Bubbles in Space series that combine old timey detective stories and cyberpunk dystopianism. This is a combination that isn't completely original (see Blade Runner and great books like the Easytown series by Brian Parker) but it's still pretty damn enjoyable. I also love how Bubbles is such a completely BAD detective. She stumbles from scene to scene with no idea what's going on, no idea how to proceed, and a lot of bad decisions making things worse. That just makes her even more likable, though. I loved this entire series from start to finish and am reading her HoloCity novels just to continue reading about Bubbles.

I was lucky enough to find Bubbles in Space: Complete Series for free. This is how I feel about the series by S.C. Jensen. The protagonist "Bubbles", earned her nickname under very unfortunate circumstances. She may not have been the greatest cop that ever looked over this advanced post-Apocolypse city, but she was honest and truly cared about people. Graft and corruption were more than just rampant in the city and Bubbles looked into a friend's death just a little too much. Powers that be tried to kill her. She lost her arm but kept her head. So now retired from the force Bubbles becomes a private detective and this book is written in a 1920s private dick style which makes it fun. To say that Bubbles has issues is the understatement of the year. But, she is persistent and this series follows her escapades trying to solve murders, corralling a rag-tag group of followers as she goes, and trying not to get killed herself. A fun, very in-depth story line, the mysteries are great but the solutions usually come too fast to fully grasp how she figures out the truth. (Very 1920s private eye style). I did enjoy the characters who were, as a whole, true-to-life-like persons. I recommend this series for a great change of pace from your standard syfy story line.

Yes! Yes! Loved it!

I finished reading the series on the 5-hour flight home from a Thanksgiving family trip. Grateful for the company!

I loved how spunky and determined the protagonist is. I love her vulnerability and her kick-ass nature.

I love the homage to Dashiell Hammett's and Raymond Chandler's stories.

And I love how there's more!!!!

Such a fun book! The author created beautiful worlds that allowed the reader to imagine a super fun future in space. The characters had depth and were all quite clever. The witty banter between them was my favorite part of the book. Can’t wait to get to know the characters more in the following book in the series!

Wow This was a really fine read and really very good. I really liked the way the style changed.
The characters are fun, interesting, and really well-developed.
Having each book use the same base, but a different plot really made this enjoyable.

I would like to see this series made into a series of movies. with Margot Robbie as Bubbles would be a money machine.

!!!!!

I’m not sure if this is a comedy, sci-fi,fantasy or just a morality play but, whatever it is, it’s definitely worth a read. There’s a plot and several sub plots, we have romance, intrigue, politics , fashion and lots more but, most of all , there’s a good few hours of real escapism here for all to enjoy.

There’s a lot here I liked, but what made me put the book aside was that it felt like things kept happening to the main character, who just kept reacting and going where the wind blows, constantly overwhelmed. I went in looking for more of a detective story, so this didn’t really work for me.

This is great detective noire with buddy comedy thrown in. I love the vernacular created. I think it could be a great screen play.

I love Bubbles and SC Jensens writes amazingly well. Highly recommended for fans of Noir Detective stories, some dry humor, and a cyberpunk futuristic world. I picked up the whole series.

This was entertaining science fiction. I went into the story knowing a little background on the storyline, so knew what to expect. I think that helped me to enjoy it more. Someone picking up the story cold, may find the main character off-putting at first, but bear with it. It'll be worth it.

The main character, Bubbles, is a recovering addict with only one arm. Despite obstacles, she overcomes through brains and, I must say, a great amount of luck.

Read this book if you want a well written story that entertains.
