So I had never heard of Jahquel J but the way people were raving about her books I had to jump in !! Let me tell you she has me in a chokehold!! Now on to book three because I need to see where this is going !!
In this book Messiah is getting back into the drug game after being in prison for three years. A lot has happened when she was away but her bestie Jaylah held it down and made sure the every T was crossed. The twins are getting big and adjusting to their mom being back in their lives. Rasheed feels like he can control Messiah but we all know how that will turn out. The drug games begins and Eli is still in the run.
My goodness so many twist turns. I couldn’t put this book down.. Can’t believe her step mother & uncle set Messiah up! Theres gonna be hell to pay! Can’t wait til the next installment.
Jaylah is the real MVP in this story. So many pregnancies not near condom on sight! Lol Except for Courage.
Idk if there’s a book about the Miami family with all the “K” names; but if not, that part of the book was too drawn out. I did not care to read about them.
I wanted to give this 3 stars because the error in the beginning was actually insane. Like… did we all read the same Part 1?? If you made it to Part 2, you obviously know who was holding Messiah hostage. So please explain to me how suddenly the gun holder changed?? And not only changed… but somehow the original gun holder became the hostage instead.
Now wait… it gets better. The new people holding the gun were LAST SEEN in a basement… hog-tied… with a knife through their hand. So I just want to know: Did they teleport? Did the knife politely remove itself? Did they untie themselves with their mind?? Because HOW are they suddenly up, mobile, and holding somebody hostage in the very next scene like nothing ever happened?? 😭 There were other inconsistencies too, but somewhere in between the confusion and the chaos there was still a decent story trying to survive. So fine… I’ll give it 4 stars. And honestly? That’s me being generous. Because how do you leave Part 1 on a heart-clenching cliffhanger just to follow it up with… this level of confusion???
The ending fell a little flat for me, Miss author Lady, and her cliffhangers always top 10. However, books 3 and 4 didn’t do it for me. I wish LB got what he deserved, and I truly do not understand why Rasheed kept letting him slide. Ock and Jayla 💜 love their relationship down. she deserved to be happy. I do feel like I understand why it ended the way it ended because Messiah did need to grow the entire series. She didn’t really learn so I understand why, but I also still feel like it wasn’t necessary like that who extra character wasn’t needed and then please don’t get me started when the whole Eli situation. His ass should’ve been dead in book 2.
But with all that being said, I devoured these pages and im on to her next series
I really had to push through this book and Crack Money, Cocaine Dreams 1 because the grammatical errors and inconsistencies with the character names, ages, and timeline was driving me wild. If this story was set in 2015-2018, then how was Messiah & Rasheed in their early 40s, Maliah & Mariah freshly in their 20s and Kelis was 18 in A Staten Island Love Affair which was set in 2019. That’s a big ass time jump. I found 85 errors/inconsistencies in the first half of this book alone. I really dislike Jahquel J’s editorial services because they can’t edit/proofread for s**t. I don’t know if this was a contractual obligation for Jahquel J because both parts seemed rushed.
Whew, this book was a whole lot. Messiah & Jaylah were no joke. A few times I'm screaming at Messiah for what she's doing, and then I'm screaming for Rasheed to get himself together as well. Taylor & Tyesha were two sisters who just got on my nerves. Taylor should have been gone a long time ago. I enjoyed Jaylah & Ock's relationship and felt they deserved love as well.
I was so happy when Messiah got all the people that betrayed her. I didn't understand why everybody kept messing with her like she wasn't a real gangster and she didn't stand on what she talked about. They thought just because she was a woman. She wasn't coming 10 toes down about hers. I was disappointed that Rasheed for how he talk to Messiah. That make a opportunity to open that shouldn't have never been open.
🔥🔥🔥 Baby somebody's in trouble!!! OK it's time for Eli to be dead... He got away he should have started over but noo. They bout to light Miami up soon as they find out Messiah is being held there. I can't wait for all the fireworks to come in book 3!!
I know Rasheed slipped up that one time with Taylor but Messiah went and caught feelings! Jaylah and Ock are so good together and Cyn got Frenchy making changes. Eli and Juan got exactly what they deserved.
It was great to see Messiah in her feelings and all the couples fully expressing themselves. They married to the game and found real ride it die love. All the ladies can handle business and it's all respect. I just need to know where Carla get her cut throat demeanor?
When I tell you, I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Everyone got what was coming to them, and a few not quite enough. But in the end, the ending alone could be a whole other series.
Baby. Never did I imagine Messiah would even go there but she did and with great reasons. I’m glad Eli and Tyesha got the end of the stick they deserved.
