On the eve of their 25th wedding anniversary, Dan and Barbara Williams find themselves on the verge of calling it quits. To make matters worse, their daughter has surprised them with an early three days together in a secluded mountain cabin.

There they discover journals filled with entries from previous visitors and begin to follow the story of Karl and Judith Wilkins, newlyweds in 1935 who vowed to return each year on their anniversary. With each poignant entry telling of their love, hardships, and struggles to stay together, Dan and Barbara gradually begin to find that the feelings they thought were lost may only need to be rekindled.

Overall, I thought it was very touching story with interesting plot twists. I didn’t particularly like the current day couple but found their situation relatable. The parallel couple’s story was far more interesting and brought meaning to the overall book and cabin.

I got this book in a giveaway. It is not the kind of stories that I usually read, but I enjoyed the book. I like how the story or stories are told. Dan and Barbara were able to get in my nerves a few times, so I completely could understand why they wanted to be away from each other. They were childish and I'm sure that many of us know couples in a similar situation than they.

Dan and Barbara Williams are gifted a 3 day trip to Cabin 6 for their 25th wedding anniversary. The couple have been dealing with issues in their marriage but don't want to turn down this gift from their daughter.
Dan is annoyed with no internet, wifi or phone signal that he will be bored. But Barb finds journals that are left in the cabin that they begin to read. They find out newlyweds (Karl and Judith) stayed in the cabin on their wedding night and vowed to return every year on their anniversary. Dan and Barbara are soon invested in their story.
I enjoyed this story. I liked that it had the stories of Dan and Barbara as well as Judith and Karl. Both were interesting and had great characters.
I liked that as Dan and Barb read the stories, it brought up memories for them. It was interesting reading about them.

I thought this was a thriller book, a cabin in the woods. Took me a long time to realize a killer wasn’t coming. Re read the synopsis and I have no idea where I got the idea. Haha. This was a tear jerker. Such a sweet story and brought me so much emotion. And it was only a little over 200 pages, which was perfect.
