It begins with a clap of thunder and a burst of flame.
After eight years, Koreck and his wife have built and improved upon an invention that will shake the world’s core: firearms. The danger of these weapons becomes rapidly apparent when the master of Rafdorek’s 3rd army, Ebonskar, demands the production of such weapons for every soldier under his command. Knowing this was never their desire for their creation, Koreck and Kheta decide to follow the one option left to them – betray their people, abandon their city, and abscond with these weapons before they fall into the hands of tyrants.
Yet those who seek conquest and domination loathe to allow such a prize to slip their noose. Koreck will learn firsthand the price of treason, and that running can only take you so far.
I enjoyed this book. First time I have ever seen the hero of the story be a hobgoblin. The end of the book gives you a good bite into what the next book will be like.
