Living full time in his motorhome in Florida with his big-headed cat, Walker figures he has it made. But when he gets a call saying a woman pretending to be his wife has promised to buy the estate of a mafia hitman and the seller wants his money, he knows to expect trouble. The place he's buying is rumored to have a hidden treasure, one that could be worth millions. Others are already looking for it, and if they find it before Walker does, he'll suffer the wrath of a mob kingpin. To make matters worse, the bikini-wearing machete-toting woman who lives next door with her beer-drinking monkey is not too fond of strangers or newcomers. She's set on making life difficult for those who cross her. Walker has to be careful as he unravels the mess his pretend wife has created while staying on the good side of the guys who hold the guns. Ride along with him and his cat as they try to unravel this latest mess along with all the weirdness that Florida can throw at them. It's another fun Florida adventure featuring Mango Bob and Walker with lots of laughs along the way.
My husband and I love his books, have read everyone of them. I only wish Mr. Myers would Write them faster ! We own an Motorhome and travel a lot and live in Florida.
Another enjoyable read. Having visited the area it was great to hear them described as I saw them. Interesting story line and was hard to put down until I had finished.
This book barely had any mystery and dragged on and on with little to no activity of interest. I was hoping it would be something like Carl Hiaasen's novels of the non-touristy Florida, but this one does not measure up. The characters were flat and while time and pages were devoted to getting to know them, none of them were all that interesting (except perhaps Clyde the chimp). The plot is too outlandish to summarize here, but the main character lives in a motor home and is called back to his main base in a Florida campground by a female acquaintance and a realtor. Seems he's supposed to be closing on the purchase of a waterfront property with his wife (although he's not married), and he goes along with this peculiar notion but we never really understand why. There are gangsters involved and the property he's buying also has a gangster background. The chimp and his keeper, an ex-circus person, live next door. That's all you need to know. I don't know if I'll attempt any of the other books in the series (and inexplicably, there seem to be a lot of them). There are too many good books out there to waste time with not-so-good ones.
Walker, Bob, Abby, and Boris are back together with a new group of friends. Abby says they are married and does a real estate deal for Walker that he finds out about on the day the deal closes. The story gets even more interesting after that. A great read.
Two cats, a chimpanzee and a couple of old organized crime bosses
Another fun read starring Walker and Mango Bob the cat. Walker finds our he is married and is buying run down property in eastern coastal Flirida. He can't refuse as a Russian crime boss has asked him for thus favor. Walker finds many interesting treasures on his new property including a woman and her very smart beer loving monkey.
I always enjoy a good Mango Bob story! This one was no exception. If you’re looking for a dark and depressing story to fill your heart with angst and more to stress about in this strange world we live in~ this is NOT the book for you. It’s a book for someone who enjoys the good things in life~ with a hopeful vibe. Plenty of eccentric characters and humor to make for a fun read. I hope to see the next “Bobventure” come out soon!
Or should I say, another fun Johnny Walker story? Always fun to read about an interesting cast of characters. I think Walker is more capable than the people (women) make him sound in the stories. The story was interesting as usual and I look forward to the next one.
What a great story missed thE car even if I'm not a cat guy my a itty would be chasing her everywhere good read one of many I've found in my kindle. I hope and pray for more good books like this series read everyone and they are like the ones you never put down.. Ciao from costa Rica and the coffee harvest is over God bless all in the states .....
I'm not sure exactly why I love Mango Bob and Walker, but I think the stories about their lives are totally fun. There's a good balance between normalcy and "Florida unusual" and I can't wait for the next episode. I'll be preparing for the next book by reading up on Crescent Beach!
Why would someone who has money his own home wears cargo pants and fishing shirt put up with women who treat hm this way. Ridiculous! The first few books i really liked but it’s gotten ridiculous nobody would put up with this male or female.
This was a big surprise . I love to read mysteries, so when I ran act this series I thought it would be a waste of time to get the first book in the series .!!! Boy was I wrong!!!! I have read all of ones so far and just started " Mango Thief ". I truly recommend the " Mango Bob" books, funny and serious at the same time.
Good, clear writing. Convoluted-enough plot to be interesting, but not so much as to be frustrating.
Not all the characters are sympathetic. Professional people acting totally unprofessional. EG - The Realtor who barged into a private residence without calling ahead or by invitation, because she "wanted to surprise" the owner.
I love the Mango Bob adventures! It's fun to read about places in Florida that I'm familiar with. I also appreciate that the author references life in the post Covid world we live in.
Always enjoy the Mango Bob stories. This is another good fun story and even had a chimpanzee named Clyde! Being a FL resident I always get a chuckle when Walker describes FL drivers. He is so spot on. Looking forward to the next fun adventure!
After a slow start, the book took off. Entertaining and a lot of fun. Although I do not think I could be on the road without be fix address, I enjoy these tales of escapism.
Love, love, love this series! Every time I read finish reading one I’m always hoping the next one is ready to hit the press! I recommend this to anyone who loves a good story, humor, and laughing out loud. Thanks again for another great book Bill Myers 😃
This is a light hearted read. The author makes me feel the scenes easily. This is my first Mango book but now I will go back and read more of his adventures. Thank you for the fun story telling.
This entire series has been so interesting & so much fun! By the middle of the first book I was already wanting to take a trip in an RV. I sure hope there is another book soon!
I have now read all of the Mango Bob stories, and I really enjoyed this latest one. Having family in Florida, the sights are fun to hear about. This story was a little different from the other stories, so it was a pleasant change. I'm waiting for the next one.
I have enjoyed reading every one of these books . Bill M. Myers has created a fun bunch of characters just going through life and getting into and out of trouble. Easy and very enjoyable reading. Keep 'em coming Bill!
If you haven't read the Mango Bob series you are missing out on fun, quirky, and enjoyable characters. I would recommend starting from the first book and work your way through them all. I've read them all over the course of a couple years and there wasn't one book that I didn't enjoy!
Reminiscent of an author I won’t name. This. moves right along and the characters are well written. I especially enjoyed the cats. They added an extra layer to the story. Looking forward to the next book. Highly recommended
It's reminiscent of Carl Hiassen without the sharp political overtones. The characters are deliciously unique and interesting. The addition of Clyde was a character was brilliant. The storyline moves along quickly without unnecessary entanglements.
While the storyline, with the active cats, was okay, I found the entertaining part of the book had to do with Clyde, the neighbour’s beer drinking ape. Ya never know what he’s going to do next…
Fun book with an adorable monkey who drinks beer, two cats, retired circus neighbors and a treasure hunt for a lost money pit. Include a fake marriage and a Russian boss giving the orders and the fun begins. Would highly recommend!
