An edge-of-your-seat (fr)enemies to lovers romance about an outlaw biker with the Devil on his back, a good girl with a badass streak who’s about to find out who she really is, and a childhood marriage pact that comes back to haunt them both.

Lex Davenport was the boy my dad warned me about. Literally.
The son of a Mafia boss, Lex was the bad boy I snuck around with on summer holidays. When I was ten years old, we made a marriage pact and sealed it with blood.
Then we never saw each other again.

Until he happened back into my life years later—all grown up.
Now, that boy I used to know is an outlaw biker, tattooed and mysterious… with eyes that follow me from the shadows wherever I go.

I don’t know why I can’t stop thinking about him. Or why his mere presence sets my body on fire.
I don’t do bad boys.
I know; some girls say that and don’t mean it. But I really do.

Until the day another man proposes to me, right in front of Lex, and everything changes.

I never thought a childish pact could come back to screw me over like it did.
But I’m about to find out what Lex is really made of… what I’m really made of… and just how far the Devil will go to get what he wants.

Judging from the synopsis I thought I was getting a different kind of story. A better and more interesting story.

I was beyond bored at some point. The male lead was the kind of guy who just gave into circumstances and didn’t really fight for his life and his freedom and that’s not really an attractive quality. He wasn’t even informing himself about essential things which could be lifesaving for him and those he loved. He was very meh.

I couldn’t see or understand the connection that the heroine and hero had. It was all based on lingering looks and no conversation, no actual knowledge of the other persons life or character.

The conflict was not that bad but the hero and heroine were more like witnesses to everything rather than actual decision making participants. They had no power and kinda appealed to others to make their life better so that they can be together.

Overall, this was a disappointment in many ways.

What a phenomenal read! Rebel Heir is book 2 in the Vancity Villains series with ties to the Dirty series by this author.

Mrs. Diamond always had a way with prologues for me, and like a few of her others, this one was wonderful. I was hooked immediately. I loved the introduction into the connection these two characters share.
We have met both Talia and Lex in her previous books and I have to say, they were both fan favourites.

This story was gripping, I was on the edge of my seat, it was exciting, mysterious, suspenseful, fun and sexy!!
I was easily drawn in by the detail of the story, the character depth, their thoughts and emotions-it was all so well done. I absolutely love the writing style and passion of this author and I craved more of the story with each page. There were a few twists and turns that had me dying to know what would happen with these two next!

Lex was so fantastic, I loved seeing his personality shine in this book He is so much more than I could have ever hoped and made for such a great and surprising leading man.
I loved Talia, she is so wonderful, I enjoyed getting to know her better. She is passionate, hardworking and fun. I loved her sass and determination, she showed great strength.

The emotion in this was in full force. It was raw, beautiful, and oh so captivating. But I also have to say it had me laughing a whole bunch too! Talia and Lex are just amazing characters who I couldn’t get enough of. I didn’t want to put the book down!

I highly recommend this book as a must read book this summer!!

The best part we got to see some of our beloved characters from this authors previous series!

5+ stars

Rebel Heir is an incredibly entertaining romance that check marks all of my boxes! This is not just a beautiful love story, but rather a novel full of suspense and intriguing twists and turns that at times left me on the edge of my seat wondering just how everything was going to play out. Adding in the humorous moments, the spicy scenes, and the action and angst, Rebel Heir is a remarkable and enjoyable read!

As the son of a mafia boss and patched member of a MC club, Lex is quite the delectable bad boy. He also has this protective and caring side which I adored. Talia is an interesting heroine. Her sassiness and her determination to go after the things (or person) she wants endeared herself to me. She did make what I consider poor decisions early on that while I understood where she was coming from, I sometimes wanted to shake her. Together, Lex and Talia are dynamite with their smoldering glances, sizzling chemistry, and underlying connection. This book, while rather long did move at a good pace and ensnared my attention from beginning to end. If you have enjoyed this authors previous books, then you will love Rebel Heir!

I voluntarily read an early version of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

I'd give this book more stars if I could. My favourite read of the year so far. This book was delicious. Lex was delicious (and such a bad boy). And Lex and Talia together were heated and passionate deliciousness. I have definitely been feeling the loss of reading this book as I couldnt put it down.

This is the 2nd of the Vancity Villains series, a sort of tie in to the Dirtyverse. If you're a fan of the Dirty series, this crosses over more than a little and we get to see a few of our favourites make appearances. Talia and Lex are both already established in the world of the band and its well loved characters. We've had hints of these two through the past stories and there was an undeniable chemistry. But we learn so much more about them, their families and their interwoven histories in Rebel Heir. Lex is more than the silver fanged biker and Talia is more than the feisty assistant to Maggie.

I cannot say too much without giving things away but this book was gripping and exciting and surprising. These two were much more than I was expecting and you really have to go the journey with them. They have wounds to heal and heartbreaks to overcome. It is a tangled web these two finds themselves woven into.

If you love Jaine's Dirtyverse then this is a must. If you love a second chance romance between a biker and his good girl (!) then this is also a must read. Its just all round sexy, heated, thrilling Jaine Diamond perfection.

Lex and Talia have known each other since their childhoods and both have always had feelings for one another when they are young Lex has Talia agree to a blood pact that she will marry him if he is still unmarried at the age of 29. Lex's father is a mob boss while his mother is from a wealthy family but Lex has been disowned because of who his father is and joined the West Coast Kings so that he could distance himself from the man he considered the devil of the underworld. Lex has been a patched member of the Kings for about a decade and is now 29. For the last few years Lex has been doing a favor for his father each year to keep the man from retaliating by hurting something or someone Lex loves. The first few years of ignoring his father the man had taken his son's teeth, killed his dog and almost killed his best friend. Now it's time to do his father another favor and that is to kidnap Talia DeSantis and hold her for ransom from her father.
Talia is supposed to get married to her boyfriend Carl and on the day of the wedding Lex comes and takes her from the wedding. She thinks he is taking her so that the two of them can be together when really he is taking her so that he can hold her for ransom. Things get out of hand when Lex's psychopath of a cousin gets involved and he kidnaps Roni a west coast King's (Jude's) old lady. Jude is devastated that the kidnapper has not only Roni and Talia but his unborn child as well.
Lex knows that he is a dead man either by the King's hands or his fathers and decides he will get the woman to the Kings safely. He returns Roni but Talia refuses to leave him and the two go on the run before Lex turns himself over to the kings.
However this whole situation becomes more complicated when it is revealed that Talia is a mob princess and her father is the godfather of Canada.
This book was really good. I loved Lex and Talia together even though Lex seemed to be constantly thinking he was unworthy of Talia. Talia was so head over heels for him she was willing to go with him every step of the way during the kidnapping and was adamant that she could help keep Lex alive despite his betrayal of the kings. Their chemistry was off the charts and I thought that Lex being afraid of his father was completely founded considering his father's history of violence and everything his father had done to Lex.

Lex & Talia’s Romance Is A Spinoff Of The Dirty and Players Series! Familiar Names Reappear As Their Story Unfolds Amidst A Powerplay In The Underworld. The Story Goes Into The World Of The West Coast Kings MC.

ABOUT THIS BOOK:

This is book two in the Vancity Villains series, which is a spinoff of both the Dirty and Players series. These series are all set in the same world with plenty of character overlap. Although this book reads well as a standalone, there is much more meaning and appreciation for those that have read the other series first.

To date, this series includes:
1. Handsome Devil (Dane & Devi’s story)
2. Rebel Heir (Lexington & Natalia’s story)
3. Wicked Angel (TBA)

This is Lex and Talia’s story. Talia is best friends with Roni, whose story with Jude is told in Dirty Like Jude in the Dirty series. Jude and Lex are both members of the Kings, a motorcycle club, but they belong to different chapters. Jude’s brother, Piper, belongs to Lex’s chapter and is Lex’s sponsor. Both Jude and Roni make a number of appearances in this book. In Dirty Like Jude, Lex and Talia first cross paths in this world. They later realize that they had been childhood frenemies. The tension has slowly built in the background in the four years that have passed since that first meeting.

IN THIS BOOK:

The story opens in October as Dirty and the Players return home to Vancouver at the close of a nineteen-month world tour.

Natalia De Santis, twenty-six, has always striven to be a good girl. She came from a good home, went to college, and landed a job she loves. She began working for Brody Mason as an assistant for the management team of rock band Dirty while still in college. Two years ago, she moved up to assistant manager for the other band Brody manages, the Players. Talia is full of smiles and has a wardrobe of cute clothes. She also has an occasional stubborn streak. She hates to be underestimated and is driven to prove herself.

While she might work with bad boys, they are not at all Talia’s type. Her boyfriends have all been respectable and law-abiding citizens. She met Carl Caldwell several months ago while in Toronto for the tour, and they have had a long-distance relationship ever since. He is kind and a little old-fashioned. He has a wardrobe of blazers and sweaters, and her parents already love him. While he lives in Toronto and travels frequently for business, he makes time to see Talia regularly.

Lexington Miller Davenport, turning twenty-nine, has been keeping a secret from his brothers in the West Coast Kings MC for nine years. That is bad news because you are not supposed to keep secrets – especially the kind Lex has. He has been a patched-in member for ten years now and spent another year as a prospect before that. His brothers in the Kings are his family, and as much as he never wants to jeopardize those relationships, he has little choice in the matter. Lex might be from the billionaire Davenport family, but he and his mother were long ago disowned thanks to her bad decisions. At one time he had expected to inherit a fortune by his thirtieth birthday, but the Davenports – his mother’s family – want nothing to do with him. He is the son of the Devil of the underground. His father, Joseph Montanari, is the Montanari crime family boss and an evil man. Lex and his mother left his father in Toronto and moved to Vancouver when he was thirteen, but once Lex graduated from high school, his father had expected him to come back. The trouble all began when Lex chose a different path.

Lex has learned a few lessons since then, the biggest being not to get attached. He cannot show any vulnerability lest he risks his father exploiting it. Despite keeping his distance from others, everyone likes Lex. His sense of humor attracts friends easily, and his good looks ensure his choice of women. His platinum canines are eye-catchers that somehow manage to function as a lure, adding to his character. He is not into the club bunnies or the mamas at the clubhouse, though. That got old fast. Lex prefers smart and classy women – women that don’t belong in his world. He enjoys reading the classics, and he might once have been considered a romantic. He had wanted to become a poet, but those dreams died years ago.

Lex keeps busy with King business, but what exactly he does he cannot say. He is rarely home, so a year ago he gave up his apartment and independent living in favor of staying at the clubhouse and saving a little money. He sometimes works on Jude’s security team for Dirty, but he had not gone on the last tour. Although he and Talia did not see one another as much since she was promoted, he knew going on tour with her again would be unbearable. Lex had been hired about four years ago, but it was soon after that Jude noticed his interest in Talia. Jude strongly suggested that he look elsewhere, that Talia was not a one-night girl, but Lex had his own reasons for keeping his distance.

Lex had spent summers with Talia from his tenth to his twelfth birthdays. Before they last parted, she had agreed to marry him when he turned twenty-nine. They had a pact, signed and sealed with their blood. Talia coming back into his life, however, was torture. As much as he wanted Talia, as much as he had always wanted her, he could never have her. He would never do that to her. She deserved better than him, and he would never endanger her.

When Lex and Talia cross paths at a party after the tour, she has Carl in her life. She shouldn’t be thinking of Lex, but thoughts of him overpower her. Lex has done his best to avoid Talia for four years, but when they come face to face again, thoughts of her begin to invade his consciousness. He tries to resist her, but she doesn’t make it easy for him. As the two begin to contemplate their feelings for one another, unexpected circumstances hijack them both. Lex’s father orders him to kidnap Talia and hold her for ransom, and when another man shows up to ensure the job is done right, Lex’s plans to keep them both safe blow up royally. The couple faces danger as they fight to survive. There are politics and turf wars as well as crimes and retribution. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.

Don’t forget to download the free bonus epilogue that takes place eight months in the future.

Wow! Lex and Talia’s story is rich with details that take the reader into the world of the West Coast Kings MC. This story does have a little violence but less than you might anticipate for an MC story. Lex and Talia have incredible chemistry. How they managed to mostly avoid one another for four years is a bit of a mystery. They have incredible self-control. There is a perplexing scene in which Talia seems to go over the deep end, but it does soon begin to make sense. Lex’s self-control is so well-honed that she decides to push him until she breaks it. It leads to an epic scene in the woods. There is an earlier scene that is likewise memorable, that one involving a gun.

There are a few issues that merit mention. First, there are some weak points. The story is sometimes overly dramatic and some things are overly simplified. There are points that call for action, but it strangely never comes. There are questions that pop up, but most are eventually answered.

Lex and Talia’s MC romance is about family and loyalty. It is also about secrets and betrayal. Lex and Talia had been from the same world when they were small, but as adults, they couldn’t be more different. The magnetic pull they felt for one another as children never dissipated once they became adults. Their chemistry is raw, mixed with denial and a lifetime of desire. Neither has been living authentically. Lex tries to placate his father. Similarly, Talia hopes to earn her father’s approval by being the good girl he expects. The story is wonderfully written. The plot is somewhat complex. There are multiple groups at play – the mafia and the MC, along with their various factions. Lex and Talia’s story unfolds amidst a powerplay in the underworld and Lex’s ongoing struggle to break free from his father’s clutches. The wind-down is slow but satisfying; there is a great deal going on, and the detailed explanations are worthwhile. The story goes slightly into the weeds about MC politics, putting the reader in Lex’s world. The characters are carefully crafted and three-dimensional. There is a large cast of supporting characters, and they all feel authentic. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Lex and Talia, with one chapter in King’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

Oh my gosh, Jaine Diamond is freaking AMAZING! I got hooked on her books from the Dirty Series (which if you haven't read yet- do it asap) and haven't looked back sense. I have loved all of the spin offs from that OG series because this world is extremely special and there are tons of deserving characters that you can't help but get invested in and want more from!

This is Talia and Lex's book and man, was I looking forward to this! Talia always seemed a little too innocent for this world and Lex was just a plain mystery, so OF COURSE I wanted to know everything about them. Let's just say that there is a LOT more to both Talia and Lex than you could have ever thought. The book is HOT with some crazy, combustible chemistry, awesome feels, and some twists that I definitely did not see coming! Needless to say, this is a 5 star read from me and I recommend you checking it out ASAP!

PS: Thank you to the author from allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

I fell in love with Lex quickly! . Lex and Talia were friends as kids. Fast forward, they find themselves occasionally working together. Talia works with the band The Players and Lex sometimes works security for Dirty. They mostly try to avoid each other, but soon find themselves more often in the same room. Talia quickly realizes that those childhood feelings she had for Lex never went away. Lex has a lot of family baggage. He thinks it’s best to stay away from Talia, but he finds it harder and harder to do. Lex’s father is a dangerous man, and he’s determined to pull his son into a life he doesn’t want. This book has it all. A nice mix of the dark mafia and a badass motorcycle club. A sexy, reluctant hero, and a heroine who’s finding her true self.

This was one of the coolest plots I've read this year.
Seriously the mash up of Mafia and MC was so crazy and the twists and turns were amazing.
Im totally in love with this book.
Few things annoyed me hence the 4.5 stars...
The h, Talia, was a bit of an idiot and that was overdone.
I loved Lex. He was a seriously cool H.

Blackbelt romance where characters lead double lives and the women, like in most of the books by Jane Diamond are the higher belts. Basically, very savy and more put together compared to their male counterparts.

Platinum level!

Sat in the edge of my seat… who am I kidding? On the edge of my bed until 2 am wondering how the heck Lex was going to make his way out of this mess!
Couldn’t be happier with the ending and love the forest scene, fluffy costume and all! What a picture!

MC cheats on boyfriend in the first 10%. Pet peeve. Not sure if I will continue with this.

Update: I continued and wow, MC does it all again - getting drunk at other MC's birthday bash and ... argh...

Also, another thing that might bother some of you: These two had a kind of relationship before. Male MC hurt female MC cause he felt she was too good for him and shouldn't be tainted. He then went on to keep all of the other males from her. Toxic but hey.

Anyways, finished this one after all. Was kinda interested to find out how the whole abduction thing would work out.

A swoony biker and princess you won’t want to miss!

I have literally sat on this amazing book by Jaine Diamond, since it came out over a year ago. I can’t even say why, other than I felt I needed to finish reading the Dirty and Players series first. I’m glad I did, because Jaine Diamond has quite a compelling universe of characters going on in good old V-Town!

It’s a much more rarified Vancouver than when I lived there, but that’s one of the reasons I love all of her books so much. Bar none, Jaine writes THE BEST rockstars, and now MC BIKERS!

Lex is absolutely dreamy/swoony. The life he is trying to lead with his MC brothers all while dealing with his mafia daddy and his love of the gorgeous Natalia (Talia/Tal), whom he made a blood vow with to marry by age twenty-nine.

I know nothing about biker gangs, but I want to believe their code is as honourable as the West Coast Kings. It would need to be for the organization to be so tight. Lex is a very honourable guy who wants to do the ‘right thing' by avoiding Talia, but she won’t let him ignore her. And she’s pretty much impossible to ignore. These two are so hot for each other, and so much happens to them as they navigate the shark-infested waters of the mafia and biker gangs.

I love that Talia believed in Lex, no matter how much he tried to push her away (not good enough, too dangerous, yada yada yada… we know it’s gonna happen Lex!), even though he consistently rejects her. You gotta love a woman who stands by her man AND keeps her dignity and her belief in herself and her love intact. She’s no pushover, but she is unafraid to love (which I adore).

This is a really well written book, fascinating to read from the biker aspect, and I’m so glad for this HEA. Oh, and there are some seriously heated and very visual sex scenes going on in the theatre of my mind that I may never forget. So wickedly fun!

Next stop on the all things Jaine Train, is Wicked Angel. Johnny Oh! That’s going to be one helluva ride. The next station is… Poundtown!

Rebel Heir is the 2nd book in the Vancity Villains Series by Jaine Diamond. This book is intriguing, full of drama, and lots of slow-burn romance that leads to fiery flames between summer childhood friends Lex and Talia. Lex is the bad boy biker, while Talia is the good girl next door. When Lex was 12 and Talia was 10, they made a pact to get married on Lex's 29th birthday. They each signed their names and sealed their pledge with bloody thumbprints. They rarely crossed paths until 16 years later when they were both on tour together with Lex as security for the band Dirty and Talia as an assistant manager for the band Players. When Talia continues to run into Lex after the two bands' tour ends, she begins questioning her current engagement, but Lex rebuff's all her attempts to seduce him. Talia's efforts to work through her muddled feelings and instant attraction to Lex leave her more confused than ever. Despite Lex turning away Tal, it does not mean he feels nothing for his childhood friend, but the real motives behind his actions are much more complicated. Both father's and family ties intertwine into a tangled mess that causes drama, family interference, and danger for both Talia and Lex. As Lex tries to keep his biker life and his family's mafia ties separate, it becomes a jumbled turmoil that begins to unravel into chaos.l The road to happiness seems impossible, but the HEA will happen! A beautifully written book by Jaine Diamond! Her books are each a jewel to not only admire for being well written but to devour in the first reading and to savor on each re-reading of her books. And each of her books will be re-read over and over!

I felt this book was never-ending and kinda dragged. It wasn't equal to the first one. First off, sloooooow burn. Second, all the MC and Mafia rivalry is annoying. Their fathers are enemies, and these two are involved.

Lex Davenport was the boy my dad warned me about.
The son of a Mafia boss, Lex, was the bad boy I snuck around with on summer holidays. When I was 10 years old, we made a marriage pact and sealed it with blood. Then we never saw each other again.
Until he happened back into my life years later—all grown up.

Devi married Lex’s half-brother, Dane Davenport, last year. Besides that, Devi’s best friend, Katie Mayes, was married to Jude’s best friend, Jesse Mayes, Dirty’s lead guitarist. We were a tight-knit bunch that had just gotten more… entangled… over time. I really couldn’t have avoided Lex Davenport if I tried. And I did try.

**Roni and Jude (characters from different books)

I devoured Lex and Talia's story! So many juicy secrets in this novel. There was a slow burn will they or won't they vibe for much if it. The angst and buildup lead to an explosive crescendo...FINALLY! More insight into the motorcycle club and the inner workings of the Canadian mafia are shared. You will also find out the story behind Lex's sexy, silver canines. It also never hurts to get more scenes with Piper, Jude, Shane and Maddox. This is a perfect second story in the Vancity Villains series. Humor, intrigue, suspense and quotes from Romeo and Juliet make for an enjoyable read. Lex and Talia are straight fire.

I’ve been patiently waiting for Lex’s story and BOY was I rewarded!!!!
The secrets, the angst, the bad boy/good girl paradigm - Rebel Heir is everything a romance reader could ever wish for.
I loved the childhood connection and their adult reluctance, but when things finally click - it’s pure magic.
As always, I enjoyed catching up with all of our favorite Dirty-verse characters, such a special treat to get glimpses into everyone’s life.
I definitely recommend Rebel Heir to all romance enthusiasts!!!

I have enjoyed every Dirty, Players & Vancity Villians moment thus far but "Rebel Heir" brings so much more to this dirty world. The danger and suspense is ridiculous and who knew this world could be any sexier or dirtier? I may have to re-read the book immediately because I could not slow down! The chemistry and loyalty between Lex & Talia is electric! I am a romantic at heart and Lex brings it all! Sometimes, even as a kid, the heart knows what it wants...even if you don't. Hold on for an extremely hot & wet ride! 😘

This is one of my TOP Rockstar Reads EVER!!!!!! This story is just PHENOMENAL!

I loved everything about this book! Jaine Diamond’s writing is intelligent, interesting, and she definitely has a way with words. The story was a true romance with a lot of heat.

The author is going to break your heart and put you back together, but then she will make it soo much better.

Jaine, you make it feel like I am a part of your stories when I read them. You are so very talented and I highly recommend for everyone to read Rebel Heir.

Rebel Heir by Jaine Diamond
Narrated by: Lee Samuels,, Stella Hunter, Connor Crais
Audiobook Rating: 5/5
Story Rating: 4.5/5

Rebel Heir is non-stop, edge of your seat, & full of suspense kind of romance book. I didn’t think it would work out having a light mafia with MC club kind of vibe but it truly surprised me. I enjoy listening and reading at the same time on this one, for sure. It keeps you guessing, plenty of action, a bit of angst to full-on spice and everything nice. You wonder if being a bad girl is the way to go. Ha!

Lexington Davenport: Lee Samuels voiced this role. He did remarkably well as the son of a mafia boss and the true member of West Coast Kings MC club. Lex portrays the bad boy persona but deep down he is very alpha-overprotective, charming, and a lot of heart. Lee had the ability to capture the feelings for Lex, providing the significance of what he is, all the hard shell of a man outside but a soft hearted of a man inside. Yes, Lex is truly vulnerable and blooming but only when Taila is around. Lee Samuels did an incredible job!!!

Talia: Stella Hunter voiced this role. She is a captivated and interesting heroine with best friend, Roni! She is sassy, strong-minded, but most importantly, a bite-eating down right fighter!!!! What Talia goes through with Lexington, in childhood years to adulthood is so surreal because it came to the point, how will these two really work as a couple. Taila portrays the good girl next door but as usual, the good girl next door wants something more, wants the bad boy in her life. The banters and the chemistry was off the hook! Stella Hunter did a phenomenal job!!!

Dane Davenport: Dane and Lex for me check marks all of my boxes! So, hearing both, Lee Samuels and Connor Crais, is just so lovely. Even if Connor was there for just a short period of time, he played Dane in the last book quite well. He is fitting to be part of book 2 because a lot of things are going on, more juicy secrets revealed & etc. In any case, it is always pleasing to my ears hearing a familiar voice!

I believe this is such a great thriller story plot with many electric memorable and sizzling chemistry moments with Lex & Talia which the narration brought them to life. I love reading/listening to other characters such as Roni, Piper, Jude, Shane, Maddox from book 1 into book 2, too! Overall, this book got my attention from the beginning to the end. If you want childhood frenemies & a whole lot of villain love, this book is for you!

I've read all of Jaine's books and this is another good one but isn't quite up there as one of my faves quite yet after my first read for a couple of reasons. As usual I loved the characters (the R&J quotes were swoon-worthy) and Jaine's writing is so fluid and easy to read I was totally engrossed in the complexity of the story despite not having an interest in biker/mafia themes. But I wanted more of the other characters we know and love or that are likely to be important later in the 'series'; Dane appeared in person a couple of times but where the hell was Shane (other than one appearance early on)? We do get a lot of Lex's thoughts about his relationships with both Dane and Shane but didn't really get to witness their interactions to really feel it for ourselves and connect with them as characters. Witnessing the banter is usually a big part of the fun... Perhaps it was meant to illustrate Lex distancing himself from everyone but the amount he spoke/thought about Dane and Shane it seemed odd that they weren't actually present for much of the story. And Talia should've had more girl time with Roni for sure.

Suffice to say I will re-read it, probably after a re-read of Handsome Devil, and maybe I'll change my mind. I was so excited to learn this was the mysterious Lex's story and while he didn't disappoint, I was left wanting a little more this time. I've probably been spoilt by previous books where you get more updates and interactions with earlier couples so you can see how they're doing. That's one of the things I love, glimpses into their ongoing stories. So having Jude in this story, just perfect... I just needed more of those other connections!

Rebel Heir by Jaine Diamond

We finally get Lex and Talia’s story. Book 2 in the Vancity Villians series. Both characters have been around in Jaine’s Dirtyverse for a while now. Talia, as part of the management team behind Dirty and The Players. Lex, one of the bikers that provides security for the bands. And now we find out they have a history!

You could probably read this book on its own but I highly recommend you read the entire series. The Dirtyverse world, characters and relationships flow from one book to the next. Everyone knows everyone through blood, friendship, sex or music.

Who would you choose, the boy you loved when you were a kid who grew up to be a “villain” or the nice guy you are dating. Talia’s a good girl. And good girls don’t choose the bad guy, do they? Lex feels that he doesn’t deserve her, he has nothing to offer her, because being with him will put her in danger. But the chemistry between these two can’t be denied.

It’s a slow burn kind of romance with lots of obstacles for our Romeo and Juliet to overcome. Secrets, a Biker gang, the Mafia, blackmail and kidnapping.

Loved getting to see so much of Roni and Jude (Dirty like Jude). And Roni’s big sister relationship with Talia is great. Several laugh out loud moments from their conversations.

Fav quote:
“I was trying to save your life.” I held his gaze. “I don’t need a hero. I’d rather go down in flames with the villain.” “You don’t mean that.” “If he’s you, then yes I do.”

Highly recommend. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Holly nickers people.. this was got AF.
Well this is another one of the those really damned good books in a series I happened upon.
Nicker melting worthy and sexy in that lovey dovey way, to be honest you would need to read Handsome Devil to get this gist of this book beginning and that was equally as good if not more.
Jaine is an amazing Author, another one of my tops of the pops authors.

Lex is Dane's cousin, well actually they were cousins and best friends and then they found out that they are bothers.
Dane inherited his billions from the family of media moguls in Toronto, Lex was about to get his billions too, but his mothers very rich family wouldn't give him what he was owed because he was the son of a Mob boss (called the Devil for F**K sake) annnnnddd.. Lex is part for the West Coast Kings MC.
So there is a whole lot of complicated there for Lexington Davenport.
He meets his kid crush, Talia and he tries to keep her safe, but ends up kidnaping her. (yess... you can say it.. what the everr loving...!!)
Now this story has its twist and turns and I am not about to give them away.
But you will be surprised that is for sure.

I loved the story and the characters and plot to the story, I am really looking forward to the third book.
And this is def going to be on my must read again list.
I did the Audiobook and the book too. Loved both of them and I think I am totally in love with Stella Hunters voice, she did an amazing narration.
Totally recommend this series people.
Enjoy :)

“Talia, you’ve been kidnapped.”
“What are you talking about?” I was starting to get creeped out, the way he was staring me down.

“Which part of ‘I kidnapped you’ are you not getting?”

Ok so it was pretty good then when I was almost at the half way part, it picked up and omg YES!!!!!!

Ok we have an MC bad boy who’s dad is the mafia. Lex didn’t want the mafia life, hence the MC life as a middle finger to his dad.

Ok so we have a good girl who’s dad warned her to stay away from that boy when they’d come to visit. So she did. Talia stayed far away. And then she didn’t.

Ok so in childhood Lex made Talia swear she would marry him when he turned 29 and pricked her finger to seal it in blood.

Ok so fast forward she’s getting proposed to by some knob and Lex is just staring at them. And staring. And staring.

I super duper loved Handsome Devil and this was a great next book in the series!

“I’ve never lived in a world where it was safe to love you.”

Another great book by Jaine Diamond!

I read the Dirty and Players series quite some time ago. Then this serious pops up and of course I read it. It had been a while since I read the other ones and I didn't immediately make the connection with the author until I started seeing the characters appear in the first book and then of course throughout this book as well.

The author has a wonderful writing style and differentiate her characters very well. It is one of those things that I appreciate in series because I don't want the same cookie cutter story book after book.

This book did seem to drag a little bit at the beginning from like 15 to 40% or so but then I finished it in the blink of an eye after that. And was sad to see it go. Lol but Alas, all good things must come to an end.

I got to admit, Carl was a pretty terrible character. Don't get me wrong, he was well written and worked very well for the story, but he just seemed so bland and so not what she needed. So it's a good thing Lex saved her from him. Lol

The twist on The story was good as well. I did not see that one coming. But it made a nice crossover into the book too. I would like to have seen more done with lex's dad than what was in the book. Cuz there's no way he's straightened out. So it would have been a nice to see a conclusion on that side. But really, it was just a really great book and I will now mark my calendar for the third book. Lol may cannot get here fast enough.

It’s hard for me to put my thoughts in to words but I guess what it boils down to is that I’m not a fan of the miscommunication trope - where events and issues would have been avoided if one character just told another character the truth - and this book really emphasized that in its plot line. Lex could have been open with his brothers from the beginning but felt like he would be doing more harm than good if he told them what was going on (by starting a war between the mafia and his club). He didn’t have enough faith in his club tbh and it was clear he wasn’t in the top ranks of the club either bc he didn’t even know everyone the club was connected with (or he probably would have come clean sooner bc as it turns out they’re connected with the mafia godfather - Talias father - so it would have been figured out so much quicker if he had told them).

I also felt like Lex’s cousin could have played an even darker role, done some more terrible things and then he wouldn’t have been so cheesy

I diiiiid like that Talia turned out to be a mafia princess :)

All in all, I thought this book was just ok. This was my first MC/mafia book ever and I diiiiiid pick it up bc of the cover.

Oh - and the ending where every solution resorted to them being married? Too convenient…I want a HEA but that seemed too easy.

Lex and Talia met when they were kids. Their parents used to vacation together during couple of summers and Lex and Talia made a pact, Talia would marry Lex when he turned 29. Fast forward 16 years and they meet again, there’s feelings somewhere between them but to untangle them they’ll have to go through hell together.
Lex and Talia have been mentioned before in other Dirty/Players/Van City Villains books, so if you’ve read them you have a little bit of background.
But this story is about to blow your mind! Is such a slow burn, with Lex carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, trying to protect everything and everyone he loves from the ultimate devil. Or so he thinks!
And Talia is such a ray of sunshine, I love her! She knew what she wanted and fought hard for it.
There was so much angst, I was worried they were not going to be able to make it in the end but I just kept on reading and getting more and more mesmerized by these two. Such a great story! All the bad boy, good girl vibes!Highly recommend it!

I felt a little like I was on a runaway train while reading much of Rebel Heir. In the best way. I found myself wanting to hold my breathe or hide my eyes @ times, but I definitely didn’t want to put my kindle down.
What starts out as a childhood pact, good girl/bad boy, “will they or won’t they?” story quickly turns into a dark, unpredictable glimpse into what it takes to survive in the world of high level organized crime. How can Lex let himself love someone when everything can be taken from him in an instant? How does he escape the inescapable?
I like the parallel of Talia & Lex hiding out after a caper when they’re children, & what they go through later. The pull between them is so strong that neither has the ability to break it. Even when they should.
I highly recommend this high octane high stakes game of human chess that surrounds a love story that seems predestined.
One thing’s for sure…
there’s always a bigger fish.

Props to Jaine Diamond for making me laugh in the middle of Lex & Talia’s stressful situations, & letting me read an advance copy!

There is so much non-stop action in this book. I started it thinking the story was going to go one way, and it did not do that at all. It was a great surprise and the way the story moved along kept me interested and intrigued for the entire book. There are some great twists in the story and I absolutely loved how it flowed and kept me engrossed in the book.

I love that there are so many characters from the Dirty Series, but you don’t have to have read those books to connect to the characters. It is amazing how she makes families who are so strong and not blood related. The devotion characters have for one another can be felt in every chapter. Family is so much more than those you were born into.

Lex and Talia are part of so many families-the Dirty family, his MC family, and the mafia families. They all combine to make one heck of a romance. This is one couple who has to fight hard for their relationship, and the way to their final HEA feels so fulfilling. This is the second in the Vancity Series-the first book was fantastic. This was a great book!
