JB lived for Sunday trips to the library growing up, and her favorite subjects were english and writing. She graduated Penn State with a degree in creative writing, then landed a job in publishing in New York City. Production led to design, which fed her creative soul and her bookshelves for a long time...
Now, JB writes romantic suspense and contemporary romance to make your heart race!
Oh my god. I love it. It's sooooo good. Twisted with lots lf scenes that are hard to read. So much is going on in this book. I was making notes while reading. The reason is this books i from my favorite genre detective mystery. When ever i read a detective story or a legal thriler i make my notes.
This books is the 2nd in the series. I haven't read the 1st part, but after reading this one i desperately want to buy the 1st book. I am already searching for it because mostly books are not available in my country.
Thank u so much bookserien for choosing me for this review. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Dark, suspenseful, gut wrenching, horrifying with glimmers of light. Twisted, tangled, heart stopping, cringing, and yet hope. This was not an easy read. This pulled me into so many directions and was much more than a suspenseful novel. This is book 2. Technically it could be read as a standalone, but so many things make much more sense, and read seamless if you have read book one "Runaway". My heart hurt for Charlie and Fletch as they continue to navigate their rocky road relationship and possible partnership. My stomach cringed when I was with Ian in the cartel stronghold. Having lived in Mexico, the subservient role of women to their spouse, father, uncle is real. The premise of a clean addict going missing and little follow up is completely understood in our world today. The fact that Charlie knows something is wrong and reaches out to Fletch for help, is big step one. The ending leaving us with the premise of what is coming down the pike was heart wrenching in its own worth. Put on your big panties, harden your heart, grab a box of kleenex and have someone who can bring sunshine into your world on speed dial, then pick up this book. Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
This started out a little strange and I almost gave up, but I sorted out the characters and warmed up to them a bit into the book. I was glad I didn't give up. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of violence in the book. However, I don't see how you could tell this story without a fair amount of violence. So, know that the characters are prickly at the beginning and there's a lot of bloody violence, but it all makes sense in the end.

I hope you read Runaway first as this book will make more sense. It is not a must, but helpful. This is an edge of your seat suspenseful book. Now that Charlie is safe, Mitch wanted her to go into a private eye business with him. Charlie got scared and ran back to San Francisco, and Mitch went after her. At first I thought she was crazy running again, but I was glad she did. Charlie had made friends with a young Ian when she was in San Francisco as he was a runaway too. Luckily he had gone back to his father who loved him dearly. His father told Charlie Ian was missing and she told him she knew a private detective he could hire to find Ian.
After looking everywhere, Ian’s father gets a letter from Ian’s biological mother in Mexico saying he was kidnapped and brought to Mexico. I loved that Mitch and Charlie agreed to go to Mexico to try and find him. Unfortunately the man who is his uncle is a horrible and unscrupulous man who is selling drugs. He thinks nothing of killing his own family. There are some heartbreaking times that Ian has to go through and surprised to learn about a family he knew nothing about. Ian was a strong young man that used his brains when situations got too bad. There were times I couldn’t stop reading as I had to know what was going to happen next. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Ian's father works with Charlie and Mitch when he discovers that Ian is missing. Ian's world has been turned upside down. Being kidnapped Ian is thrown into a different world. One of violence. Drugs. Why would they want a recovering addict? Lazaro is a ruthless and cruel leader of the Mexican cartel. He has a purpose for kidnapping Ian. When secrets are revealed Ian realizes he must make a plan of his own in order to protect the ones he cares for. Action packed drama, mystery, suspense, betrayal and a dose of romance that will keep you intrigued throughout the story. Thank you Booksirens and the author for a digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Fast paced, dark and so entertaining this suspenseful romantic thriller kept me wanting to read late into the night! I love the main characters & the storyline which reminded me a bit of Ozark with a cartel full of killers and drug lords. The storyline was well crafted and believable & the characters were thoughtfully built into this tale of love, loss and adventure at all costs. Can’t wait for the next one! *I was given this book as an advanced reader copy in return for an honest review.
Another great story that will keep you intrigued. Each page you turn might give you the answer to the question of what could possibly happen next. Loved the characters. Well written.
Trapped is a gritty action detective story. It’s the second in a series but I had not read the first book so it can be read as a standalone.
It has some dark themes and some scenes that are tough to read. It is well paced though and it picks up speed as we get to the crescendo of the plot with lots of action. The story would make for a good film.
The main characters develop well and the over arcing story to the series is progressed.
It’s more suspense than mystery as we know throughout what is going on. There is a few things that are revealed but it’s not hard to guess those parts.
I’d recommend if you are looking for a series featuring the same main characters with lots of action and cling to your armchair suspense.
Its good to be back in Charlie Hart and Mitch Saunders world after a long hiatus in the series. Now this world is a dark one but the author writes great romantic suspense who isn't afraid to cross that line on sensitive subject matter.
Charlie is still struggling from her years of abuse. She is trying to make her relationship with Mitch work – she loves him but staying in one place and with one person just makes her want to run.
In the first book we met 16 year old recovering addict Ian. He and Charlie had become close and when he goes missing she knows some is wrong..
As the reader, like the first book we are given a front row seat to what is happening to Ian and its dark.. Mitch joins Charlie in trying to find Ian and his past issue come into play when Charlie life is put in danger.
As many threads are continued from the first book I recommend reading that first before diving into this one. Hopefully its not as long a wait for the next book..
Wow! What a great romantic thriller. If you can put this book down, you have more self-discipline than I do. I did manage to get a night's sleep before finishing. I had to delay writing more on my next novel.
Huge thanks to all readers who take time to let other readers know what you think. It helps them find our book, and it definitely helps keep this author motivated to bring you more stories.

The book follows a couple investigating the disappearance of a young man. With little to go on, no ransom note, no body, their research leads them to Mexico, and the drug cartels of north and south America. The theme that blood is thicker than water comes over very clearly. Whilst it would have been interesting to have read the previous book where some of the characters are introduced it does not detract from the satisfaction of this one. The characters are well portrayed and it is easy to visualise them. A fast paced story, difficult to put down , the subjugation of some of the poorer people by sheer terror from drug barons is well depicted. ROMANTIC FICTION & MYSTERY - JB SCHROEDER'S BEST STORY YET -YOU CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!
Fast paced, danger packed romantic fiction by JB that picks up where Runaway left off. Mitch Saunders and former Runaway Charlie Hart face many obstacles in strengthening their relationship not the least of which is finding Charlie's friend, Ian Cross, who has suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth. Nail- biting excitement with twists and turns you don't see coming. I was hooked and drawn into the story from the first page on. I literally couldn't put it down. Now I'm looking forward to the next Mitch/Charlie adventure!
This is about people trying to rescue an ex-junkie from his blood family in Mexico after they kidnapped him. Little does he know who these people really are and why they took him from his 'loving rich father' in the United States. He gets an eye full of things he never dreamt actually happens. Can Mitch and Charlie get him back? At what cost to their relationship? I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of this book.
Even though it's the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. It's a dark, suspenseful story with the main plot that concludes at the end of the story, and Charlie and Mitch's story runs throughout the series. At times, the action slowed down, but the climax was powerful. The characters' growth showed throughout the book.
A spine-tingling, gritty, edgy, Thrilling novel that pulled me in. It was difficult to put it down! ... It's heart-breaking, heart-pounding, haunting, steamy~ an edge of your seat novel!
JB Schroeder is a skillful writer that draws you in and doesn’t let you go till the end.

Charlie and Mitch's latest case to rescue their friend, Ian, leads them on a dangerous journey that had me digging my nails into my palms as I read. A well-written, fast-paced story. I look forward to more from Charlie and Mitch!
