X is the twenty-fourth book of the I Found My Heart in San Francisco series.
Time has started to move faster, with three years having passed in the blink of an eye.
Jamie has used the time well, managing a gut-renovation on a Victorian charmer just a block away. They’re just a few months from being able to move in, finally getting out of the basement of the O’Flaherty homestead, possibly the last place she could have imagined herself living before she met the woman of her dreams. But soon they’ll be ensconced in their own home, and she’s so excited about living above ground that she’s giddy.
Ryan’s been chipping away at her dissertation, while working nearly full-time with O’Flaherty Cousins. By the time she has her Ph.D. she will be a pretty competent plasterer, with a minor in drywall hanging. Not exactly the path she thought she’d be on, but she’s finally come to accept that she’s a happier person when she lets life happen.
But even a laid-back Ryan is not a Ryan without plans, and she’s been nipping at Jamie’s heels on a routine basis, certain now is the time to start their family.
Jamie’s not exactly opposed, but she knows that once they go down that path their alone-time will be a thing of the past. Since it’s hard to get and keep Ryan’s attention now, how could she have more of it when they’re juggling a baby’s constant needs?
They’ve both made strides in being more flexible, but this is a big ask. Jamie would like to wait for around five years, while Ryan was ready to go once they graduated. Maybe it’s time to put a big X next to that item on the to-do list?

59 books370 followersSusan X Meagher was born in southern Illinois and grew up in East St Louis. She attended college in Chicago and started her working career there. She and her partner moved to the Los Angeles area in the late 80's. It was there that she started to write. Her first few books were simply posted on the web and became the I Found My Heart in San Francisco series. In 2002 she moved to New York and divides her time between Manhattan and the Jersey Shore. She has published thirteen books in the series and has gone on to write many individual books as well. She has partnered with other authors on two short story books and has written many stories that have been published in other mainstream anthologies. Susan is active in the lesbian author community and loves to attend Women's week at Provincetown and the GCLS annual conventions. Her stories revolve around the relationships that two women can build when given a chance and how those relationships can strengthen the individual and the partnership. Her genre is lesbian romance/fiction and she believes strongly in the happy ending that we all so deserve. Susan X Meagher was awarded a 2011 Lesbian Fiction Readers’ Choice Award for Favorite Lesbian Fiction Writer. She is the recipient of the 2014 Alice B. Medal for her body of work.

I've heard that life is all about finding out who we are. To me, life if about finding out who other people are. I'm interested in the small details of life, that's how a story about two young women in college is slowly becoming a 26 book series. The joke in Seinfield was that it was about nothing. I feel the same about most of my books. They are about the many things that happen when nothing is happening. The small joys and sorrows of everyday life can be fascinating, especially if you care about the people involved. I try to create characters that will make a reader care deeply. I'm always interested in hearing how close I am to that goal. So please drop me a line whenever you have a comment or a question about a story. Writing is a pretty solitary pursuit and it's great to know that I'm not alone.

Oh, I've missed these people so much! I loved reading this.
I'm so invested in the story of J&R and I wish so badly they were real people that I could be besties with. Mia and Jordan too. And the rest of the family. Duh.

Loved it - Wonderful Writing!
I loved reading this book - it felt like coming home to see good friends after a long time apart. For me, this book was a happy escape from the current, sometimes overwhelming complexities of real life(covid and a rabid political culture being top of mind). This author is one of the absolute best when it comes to writing about what brings and keeps two people together, the selfless love needed to build lasting relationships and the importance and joy of our chosen families. It was also interesting to be reminded of how things were before marriage equality, knowing it's worth everything to ensure we do not go back.
I highly recommend this book.

Great Journey!
After reading 24 books continuously, it feels like all the characters are like friends you never met. One of the things I liked about this series are the supporting characters and top of the list are Mia & Jordan. And that's why I particularly enjoyed reading Mia & Jordan's story in this book and wish there is a spin-off. Can't wait for the next 2 books.

Great story!
I have been reading this series since the very first book was put online over 20 years ago. This chapter is a very worthy continuation. It is the first one with a significant time jump. Also it is very much a Mia an Jordan story as well as a Jamie and Ryan story. Mia and Jordan are two of my favorites and this book show why.
I think even if you had never read any of the other books, you could read this one as a stand-alone. And if have read any of the other books in the series, this is a must read!

This is the 24th book in the “I found my Heart in San Francisco” series. Each book in this series feels like the next chapter in these characters lives. I read the series in 2020 and was so glad to see that the next book in the series has been published. While I sometimes get frustrated at these characters, I really do enjoy spending time with them. While the main characters are Jamie and Ryan, this book focuses mostly on their two best friends, Mia and Jordan. This is my favorite book in the series so far. Already looking forward to the next one.

It’s been three years since I read ’Wonder’, I found this a bit too much of a Soap Opera and was a bit underwhelmed after the excellent’Vengence’.
Unfortunately this book continues in the same vein, it was basically a domestic soap opera centred almost totally around the Mia and Jordan saga.
I still enjoy following Jamie and Ryan and I hope the author will continue with the last two books.

Finally
Wow I loved this one as always but more because a lot of things started moving along or the time jump helped with that. There is a lot of humour which I have enjoyed through out the series so far and boy did I love Anna Lisa kick ass towards the end. I’m definitely looking forward to the last two books of the series and may they be way longer.

I have read this series multiple times. When I found out Christmas morning that #24 was released, I downloaded it immediately. In my opinion “X” may be in the top three of all 24 books. It makes me hopeful that #25 isn’t far behind.

Another great installment!
These characters feel like family at this point. Susan has a unique ability to create complex, multi-dimensional characters. If you are new to the series, I do not recommend starting with this book, the history is essential to understanding the characters' motivations. The story has strayed a bit from Jamie and Ryan, so some readers may critique that, but on balance, I think it was the right choice - it mirrors real life in that way.
