what in the Edward Cullen did i just read??
i– maybe im a bitch but this was so bad. like i was laughing bcos i could not take this seriously type of bad. this just made zero sense to me? where was the coherence? the structure? the pacing?
and we get it, Elijah is sooooo 👻bad🖤 and he wants Hailey bcos he can feel her darkness too.
they tried too hard to be edgy. it was giving me Megan Fox and MGK.
the only good thing about this was finally finding out who Zayde’s love interest is... safe to say im pumped af👀and i hope his book beats this author’s last few releases.

A dark, fast-paced, chilling, steamy romance in the four universe; when a story starts with a fire & a dead body...how can I resist such a mystery?!
I got this as a Halloween freebie, which is great, cause who doesn't love freebies? ;) I read this short in around an hour!
With such a hook at start, I was eager to find more about Hailey & Elijah. They're neighbours & have similar friends group, with Hailey's bestie Fallon being the little sister of Elijah's bestie Tim.
Eli has always been obsessed with her, he has this darkness, which comes out to play with Hailey.
With him gone to college, she thought she'll be able to sell her grandma's house & move on, BUT then he comes back unexpectedly!
Their attraction is red-hot, so irresistible. She may hate her with words, but her body does love him 😁.
This story's suspense component grows with Eli & gang's feud with the Four. It's climax gave me more questions than answers which I hope we'll find in Zayde & Fallon's book, can't wait!
It's true that if you let 'em go & they come back, the love's true. Without Eli, Hailey's life is so...empty. She realises how much she cares for him. Yay, these two end up together ⭐.

4 short and smutty stars!
Mayhem is set in the Alstone world. Elijah and Hailey are characters we haven't gotten to know but boy were they unforgettable for such a short story.
Elijah is possessive, a bit stalkerish and has a dark and depraved side that calls to Hailey. The steam and connection between these two was so hot. No matter how hard Hailey tried to lie to herself she always knew that her jagged edges fit Elijah's just right. Throw in some shocking suspense with the Four and a brief encounter with Zayde's love interest and you've got yourself a thrilling ride.
I only wish it had been longer because these two were everything with their particular brand of crazy. I love this world that Steele has created with her dominating men and fierce yet feminine heroines.

My eternal complain with these kind of short stories, especially by Becca Steele, iσ that they are never enough...
I just want more and I need more exploration of these characters and this story...
"Mayhem" was also a part of the Alstone world and you will probably know by now, that I adore this world and I adore the Four.
Becca had created a very intriguing short story which was grabbing you from the first page till the last one and she just making you crave another one fix of Elijah and Hailey...
These two were unknown to us and they were carrying a weird darkness and a dependence to each other even though they seemed to have a beef between them.
They were really hot together and i liked their back and forth very much!!!!
Also, I really enjoyed that we took some glimpses of the Four and we got to know Zayde's significant one...
OMG!!! After what had happened in here, I can imagine what a wild ride Becca will give us with the last book of the "FOUR" series!!!

Mayhem is a short story set in the Alstone world! These two characters surround themselves in a darkness that they both feel alive in. Elijah and Hailey are interesting characters that I enjoyed reading about.
Becca Steele never disappoint with these types of stories that capture your attention from the very first chapter. Elijah and Hailey’s story was honestly really intriguing to me. It’s set in the world of The Four series which made this story even more exciting to read. Elijah and Hailey both have aspects of themselves that simply fit right. Something I really liked about them is even though it takes a while to come to terms with how they truly feel, when they hit that point it makes them feel more alive.
This story also introduced Zayde’s character and now I’m SO excited for his book. The back story of it all is very intriguing and I’m curious as to how everything will be.

Hot cover!
Apart from that... A poor attempt for a dark novella. Guy is probably sick, acting "weird" and "bully-like" in a relationship, and she's got it bad enough to not want anything else from certain point. Yeah, let's romanticize the toxic behavior and relationship. If you're ok with this stuff, you may enjoy this fast read and (as I understand) a prequal to the Four series. 2.5 stars

Ooh Elijah and Hailey....sparks were flying despise his intense ways.
Thoroughly enjoyed this short, steamy, spooky story. I love a spin off in the world of the Four, especially when it's the rivals. I'd love more on their rivalry, perhaps a spin off series!

Mayhem by Becca Steele is a short standalone story set in the world of the Four.
Hailey and Elijah’s story is told from both POV’s. They have a past and the second Elijah steps back into Hailey’s life, his darkness consumers her once more.
The story is a little darker, but it also fits in with a Halloween theme of the anthology this was in.

Woher kamen jetzt bitte Hailey und Elijah?
Haileys Leben wird seit der Highschool von ihrem Nachbarn Elijah terrorisiert. Doch seit Eli nach Edinburgh gezogen ist, hat sie ein Stück ihrer Freiheit zurück.
Doch als der 31. Oktober vor der Tür steht, ist auch Eli zurück, um den geplanten Coup an den Four durchzuziehen.
Ich kann mich überhaupt nicht an Hailey oder Eli aus der The-Four-Reihe erinnern. Erst als Fallon erwähnt wurde, konnte ich die Figuren einigermaßen zuordnen.
In der Geschichte passiert wirklich nicht so viel, insbesondere wenn man den letzten Teil der The-Four-Reihe schon gelesen hat.
Der spicy Part war ganz nice, aber insgesamt geht natürlich alles extrem schnell auf diesen weniger als 100 Seiten.

This was the perfect short novella written by Becca Steele. This story is a precursor to The Four series. You will get a brief glimpse into the characters that makes The Four series so very exciting to read as they all make cameo appearances in the story.
Mayhem centers around Elijah and Hailey. Elijah has been a lifelong bully to Hailey. Her tormentor who loves her beyond all reasoning. Hailey thinks he hates her.
Not to give too much away, though, I’ll keep my summary of the story very brief. This was short but very good nonetheless. All books written by Becca Steele are amazing to me.

I really liked this story and I hope we get to see more from them when Becca gives us Zayde's story because I think Zayde and Elijah together could either be really bad or REALLY good if you know what I mean!

Loved that was set in the Alstone world. Still working my way through The Four series and was so excited to get a glimpse of the guys.
Becca Steele always has me failing in love with her characters so easy. Elijah and Hailey had amazing chemistry. Elijah is her obsessive psycho ex neighbor who is possessive , jealous and a bit unhinged. Her mind says she wants normal but her body wants his wicked ways.

Loved this short story set back in the world of Alstone! I adore The Four so seeing a different side to them in this was so interesting! And I now cannot wait for Zayde’s book even more!

This was a short story set in the Alstone World with some guest appearances from The Four (we also get to meet Zayde’s love interest). We get to meet Hailey and Eli in this dark, twisted romance. Eli is the best friend of The Four’s rival family, The Hyde’s, and the night they decide to play a prank on The Four things do not turn out the way they were intended.

Lo leí como parte de una antología de Halloween (Hallowed Night A Halloween Romance).
Estuvo bien, aunque al ser una historia corta sentí que las cosas pasaron rápido.
Los personajes fueron interesantes, y aunque no me gustan los libros de bully romance, me llamó la atención como para querer saber más de los protagonistas, lástima que los siguientes libros de la saga son de otros personajes.
Me gustó el final, fue cute ver ese lado de los protagonistas.
También me gustó la manera de escribir de Becca Steele.

AHHH!! What a great prequel to The Four Series, and backstory to Fallon & Zayde’s book. My heart truly broke for Fallon and the rest of the side on the Hydes for what they endured.
ALSO, I absolutely fucking LOVED Hailey & Elijah. They were such unhinged passion, and chemistry that I ate it right up. Besides the drama between the Four vs. the Hydes, I was so very much invested in their own story. Although short and sweet, It made such an impression on me that I wish we could have more of them. I’m very much content with what was given however, and am SO HAPPY they got the HEA they deserved.
Well done AGAIN, Becca Steele! I will forever be a fan, and a happy reader with your stories. I can’t wait for what the future holds with many more books to come.

I chose to view this as a writing exercise exploring multiple possibilities pertaining to tropes and formulas in The Four series. I really don't enjoy the stalking /obsessive cruel trope. I need a good redemption and being a toxic psycho doesn't do it for me. (My own problem, not judging).
The things that happened in this book felt out of context and we only got glimpses into what was really going on, thus my writing exercise view.
I think the best thing to come out of this story is a preview into Z's history, I cannot wait to read his book.

A short read and a great example of th e writing style of the author. I loved the intencity of the main characters for each other. With Hailey questioning Elijahs intentions when he has been so hot and cold with her. A great read I really need to know what happens next.
