This was just okay. I think the romance progressed too quickly and they were all the sudden in a physical relationship. I wanted a little bit more development there before things got to the level that they did. I wasn't a fan of the conflict that was keeping them apart, so it was hard for me to enjoy their romance overall.

4.5 Stars.....Just about PERFECT:)

Oh gosh Hudson and Stella were incredible together! The storyline was great, it was a fast paced read and I say that because once I started I did NOT put it down. It was heartbreaking, it was "honest", it was an emotional story filled with LOTS of hot and very sexy times between these two.

I adored BOTH characters and Hudson, my girls....oh is he one unique swoon worthy man. He was equal amounts of pure, honest, totally alpha in a very sexy and sinful way. he was NO manwhore and he may be one of the most intriguing men I have read about.

Yes, I am going to go there, I LOVED the ending BUT, yep, you guessed it, it did NOT meet my end of a story criteria, arghhhhhhhh........ I want more and I want definitive and I don;t want to guess and/or wonder about those next serious steps to be taken. I want to know far out in their future together so with that being said I dedicated a half star. This book does include another story in which YES I am reading.

I am hoping and praying that there will be a book on Dallas and Willow. It's going to be a hard read given the circumstances and if there will be a story on them I am hoping this author will do it justice and not some dead-ex troupe that ends up falling flat.

Congrats to Author Charity Ferrell, this story was a home run with me for sure!!!!!!!

Ahahah wait a sec oh god -

I had a lot of errands today, so I put this audio on before running out.
People who’ve now seen my Extremely Fucked Up Cringe face: the people waiting in line plus the nurse (I got vaccinated), everyone at the grocery store (I’m collecting adult points), my fellow passengers on the bus, and my cat (if I’d had one).

Let's set the scene with this amazing quote:

It's like I'm on top of the world (well, the world's greatest cock)."

Our main characters (and they are really The Main Characters, if you know what I mean) are Stella (half famous actress) and Hudson (caveman military guy).
Hudson is a small-town, family lover boy who would do absolutely everything and anything for his family - BUT it gets a bit tricky when his brother asks him to take his job as a bodyguard for Stella so he can spend the last weeks with his dying wife. Hudson is like: 🤨 HELL NO this is where I draw the line man, ain't gonna work for some spoiled brat, I've seen the newspapers!!
After some begging, he finally gives in and decides to get on a noble quest as a Good Brother and takes the job, but he makes sure that everyone (especially Stella) knows how much he resents her. Because, you know, logic.
Stella is an actress, although it's not very clear if she loves her job or not, because mostly she's complaining about it and all the complications that come with it. Then Hudson arrives, and she gets like super horny the second she sees him, and quickly decides HIM I'm gonna bang!!

But here's the big shithole: she's already in a fake relationship trope with another famous guy and is under a contract she can't breach without fucking up her career.

And THEN the next shithole comes, and hear this: Hudson doesn't want to "be" with someone who's "playing hooker" with another man, he has some PRIDE GOD DAMMIT and he ain't sharing! This puts Stella in a difficult situation, now she needs to choose if it's worth risking her career for getting laid. 😕 Obviously, this puts them both in a hard dilemma. What will they do? Can they survive this?

But ffs, as we all know, ✨horniness ✨always wins

Quick comment: I honestly felt like I was gonna die on the spot here

Fast forward into the drama, stop reading if you don't wanna see spoilers at this point , when the insta-love has hit its peak and the shitstorm is about to go down

Hudson's brother's wife dies, and Stella follows him to his hometown. He casually mentions that he would never leave this place, he would never want to have children growing up somewhere else. In her mind she's like okay that sucks because I don't want to leave my career but we'll talk about this later. They decide to take a quickie in his car, and apparently she's not worried about paparazzis, so naturally, she gets a shock when someone has witnessed their cozy time and shared it with the public.

Now she looks like a cheating asshole, she broke her contract, and her career is reeeally on fire in a bad way. And Hudson, being the supportive good guy he is, gives her an ultimatum: break the contract (implicitly: fuck up your career) and be with me, or leave and never call me again. She begs him to give her a couple of weeks to smooth things down and find a way out of the contract, but he puts on his stern face and says NOPE 😤✋. And I honestly felt a bit bad for her at this point, because jesus fucking christ is he a handful, it's her freaking CAREER

My head hurts

There's a half-cheesy reunion blabla, and here comes my favorite part!! She later moves to his small town and decides to make a show based "loosely" on her life, about a rich famous girl moving to a small town to be with the love of her life after she was portrayed as an idiot in the magazines. THAT'S SOMETHING I WOULDN'T MISS FOR THE WORLD, Kardashian's go throw in your towels you're done

In conclusion, I think I'm gonna lay off contemporary romance for a while 🥰

I had more fun writing this review than listening to this book

He is her bodyguard and calls her a hooker?

WTF?

He insults her in every second sentence and she gets aroused?

Is it supposed to be sexy when a man judges a woman, calles her worst names and has ZERO respect for her?

I'm out!

3 Stella and Hudson Stars

Stella is a famous Hollywood actress and her bodyguard, Dallas , has to return home due to a family emergency. He sends his newly home from deployment brother, Hudson , to replace him.

Hudson and Stella have an immediate connection and there is an element of insta-lust but Hudson keeps her a bit at arms length because he can't see how they would be able to pursue a relationship with such different lives and backgrounds. Stella is very much the pursuer in this relationship and I felt like I wanted Hudson to put a bit more effort in.

When the inevitable conflict happened I was disappointed in Hudson. Reflecting on it, I think I just struggled to connect with either main character although I preferred Stella. She may have been the one living in LA but she was not as idealistic and simplistic in her outlook in life as Hudson.

Not my first or last read by this author! What I love about her is that she writes beautiful and every book has it own, JUST it's own..i don't know how else to explain it!

Stella and Hudson, Okay little background...I am usually not into the whole princess high and mighty heroines B U T Stella might be a TV star but she is still down to earth, funny and fearful..as in her stalkers are the aggressive and forward type. Que Hudson who is drop dead gorgeous and ONLY her bodyguard...right!

When Stella offers Hudson a deal he just can't refuse no matter how hard he tried...I mean what to they both have to lose right?! No attachments, when it's done, it's done. Yeah right, I say! Their slow burn drove me NUTS, until the sweet day came where they both let go and boy did they. Their adventure was sweet, action packed, funny and HUDSON is SWOON worthy!!

I am rating this a 4.5 & would recommend it. It is Book 1 in the series & I have read Book 3 already, looking forward to more.

DNF at 71%.

This is just so bad. I don't know what to say really. It is not hilarious bad, or offensive bad, it is just boring and useless. The characters are not developed, the story is a series of tropes (pop star and bodyguard, tortured vet, small-town boy and big city girl) glommed together with nothing added. It is like a romance book written by a computer. I wanted mindless and I got brainless. No.

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

This is the first book that I have read by Charity Ferrell and for some reason I didn't connect with both the characters even though the story was interesting, I felt like something was missing. As much as I felt the disconnection, I did enjoy the story, so I will share with everyone what I liked about Stella and Hudson's love story in Just Her Bodyguard. I do have to say the chemistry between these two is hot, hot, hot and you can't help but fan yourself after reading some of their steamier scenes.

Hudson Barnes is a military man who came home to a cheating fiance and a disloyal best friend. Little does he know that being the new bodyguard to a Hollywood diva was going to land his heart and body into a complicated mess! I liked Hudson right from the start, even though he seemed to be judgmental at times. I looked past that and saw the broken heart underneath that needed to find love elsewhere. He was all dirty talk, delicious muscle, and heart that I couldn't resist!

Stella Mendes is a heroine that I really couldn't find any connection with except for the fact that she loves Hudson whole heartedly, so you know she has good taste. I adored her relationship between her and her personal assistant Willow and they kept me laughing with their quirky sense of humors when they got together. It took me awhile but I eventually saw the heart beneath this young woman who grew up under the cruel spotlights of Hollywood.

Charity Ferrell delivers a couple from different worlds who collide and become one, no matter the consequences to reputations or hearts involved. While this will never be my most favorite book around, it was an entertaining read and Charity so delicately teased us with Willow and Dallas in Just One Night that I am impatient to get back to this fictional world and get to know more about them. I have a feeling that they will end up being my favorite couple and Charity Ferrell will become a must read author for me. I can just feel it in my bones!

⭐️ 4.5 "Hollywood" Stars ⭐️
After falling in love with the Twisted Fox Series in the last few weeks, I needed to read more of Charity Ferrell's back list novels. Just a Fling was a really good book that had me entertained all read long. After a slow start, the intrigue took flight and ultimately had my complete attention. The evolution of Stella and Hudson's romance was so beautiful. The alpha bodyguard discovered that the sexy actress he worked for was so much more than the diva he assumed she was. They shared real moments that created a deeper connection between them. The sexy encounters between those two were SO HOT! Overall, this book was well rounded with humor, flirty banter and feelings! I'm now diving into book two of the Blue Beech Series, because that ending had me eager for Willow and Dallas's story!

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I had strong feeling I was gonna love Hudson but I didn't think it would happen right from the start but it did. I loved everything about him. Not only is he a hero but he has such a good heart. He's so. Family oriented he is truly the whole package. I also instantly liked Stella, she wasn't a diva like everyone said, no the girl was sweet and caring. And when you put the two together you get smoking hot fire.

A slow beginning but overall a great story from start to finish. What really drew me in was the drama promised and absolutely delivered throughout the story, especially at the ending. That along with the romance made the book difficult to put down.

I wasn’t super into it at the start of the book if I’m being honest. I mean, I really liked the premise with the betrayal of his friend and fiancée, the job to a presumably diva actress along with her own bad history of dating. When they did meet however I wasn’t feeling the chemistry and connection the story tried to convince me they had, this due to them getting past his first prejudices of her real quickly and them somehow always ending up only talking about sex. There were just lacking some more depth in the development I feel like. I did like both characters however and that’s probably what kept me invested in the story, and a really good thing that it did because it wasn’t long until I finally fell heads over heels into the romance.

When they finally got past the hurdle and admitted as well as committed to their feelings the romance got that depth and intrigue I sought. Throwing in the tragedy that happened to his brother the relationship and characters development worked out beautifully right into the big climatic conflict. This I both absolutely loved and hated at the same time. I loved the drama and heartbreak of it and really felt for the characters involved. What I hated however was the double standard of it all. She was supposed to give up both her home and career for him, while he gives up neither yet she’s was the one at fault in the whole mess? Admittedly it was a bit more to it, but essentially this is what it boiled down to no matter what he said.

I get his side of it all not wanting to be, as he put it “in the shadows”, but it really frustrated me that he could not see her side of it. What he was asking of her was what could not only ruin her career but also get her sued, and all she really was asking for was a bit more time to figure out a good solution, which if you ask me was neither a big ask or that unreasonable. But he couldn’t even give her that. It was all his way or no way. It annoyed me that she was put in blast for ruining the relationship when she was the only one willing the try to meet in the middle while he wasn’t willing to do anything.

As much as it annoyed me though, it also meant that I really cared about the characters and got really frustrated on her behalf which means that the story worked wonders. It also helped that Hudson later on had a bit of a redemption with an apology and willingness to compromise in the end. The book left me completely satisfied with the conclusion as well as fully anticipating the next book with the whole Dallas and Willow drama. A story well worth four stars that hopefully the next can live up to if not more.

What a cute romance! Just Her Bodyguard is a good book. I liked the whole body guard slash protectee relationship. I don’t usually go for romances with Hollywood stars in it, but I am glad I took a chance on this one. This is a stand-alone novel in a series. It is the first book. This book has romance, scandal, heart break, and a ton of heat.
I was interested to see how the plot of this book would play out. I don’t usually read books like this, but the whole forbidden romance intrigued me. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. This books overall theme would be reflection, I would say. Reflection on your life and what you want out of it. I liked that about this book.
Stella is not what I expected. I expected more of a diva and I mean that in a terrible way. I was surprised by how much I liked her character. She had sass, but she also had a heart. I liked how down to earth she was. Hudson is one hot character. Former military? Check. Hot as sin? Check. What else could you ask for? He is the whole package. A real man with real feelings, but also protective and hot. He is perfect.
The heat between these too is perfect. I loved the push and pull between them. Their attraction is what started this book, but it got better with each conversation they had. Then when the clothes finally came off? Can you say HOOT!
The writing style of this book is good. The pace of the book is steady. The story is told from dual point of view, which gives us much needed insight from each character. I liked the introduction of the minor characters. I really enjoyed them. I also liked the world building that was done in this book.
In conclusion, this was a great book. I wouldn’t mind reading it again. I will be recommending this book to others. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and see who it is about. This author did an amazing job in getting us invested in the minor characters while also giving us enough story to leave us feeling satisfied. Great job.

So I had gotten all the Just *title insert here) the blue Beech series with Just friends that was coming out so I sat down and read them all, and now to the reviewing I have been reading and reading and now finally trying to catch up with my reviews so please forgive my rambles..So out of the Blue Beech this was I think my favorite, why you may ask, or you might not even care..so sorry.. Any who as I was saying out of this Blue Beech this was my favorite and I think it had to do that he (Hudson) was not a manho- what? Yes my friends even I could not believe that we had this hot, military tough guy and yet not a manho- who knew that authors could have go this route, not me I was amazed and so proud of Charity at that point. So we meet Hudson who is home from the military after deciding not to reup only to get a dear john letter from his fiance that she hooked up with his bestie and was breaking up with him...Yeah I hated her too, now I would have liked the story just fine and even would have liked Stella, she wasn't a ho, she seemed to be a kind and good friend but her begging for Hudson to sleep with her, was ridiculous this girl had no respect for herself and she killed me with that, had she been a little better I would have just been happy with her, but again the begging was just too much for me.

rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

Oh how dissapointed I am.
The one good thing about this book is being a good introduction into the next one.

The relationship between the two characters was almost nonexistent, the only attraction was sexual.

Also Hudson was such a stereotypical man. Doesn't want to try yoga or sushi, only drinks beer, doesn't want to talk about this past trauma.
And talking about trauma, i absolutely DESPISE the trope when your PTSD nightmares miraculously disappear because you sleep next to your love interest. Dude you had 2 trips with the military, go to a therapist.

But I will continue in this series because the 4th book made me cry so i have hope. (and i bought a ebook membership to read them)

Make me yours is written by Charity Ferrell. This is my first read from this Author, and it will not be my last. In this story we have Stella, she is a famous television star. Stella was living the perfect life. She swore off men, because Stella has had a relationship that ended badly. Stella has her co-worker pretend to be her boyfriend for the cameras. But Stella has to have a bodyguard. But when she meets Hudson her bodyguard. She's attracted to him immediately. He's good looking, just has a charm about him. Hudson only agreed to help his brother out, so his brother can stay home and take care of his sick wife. Hudson really didn't want to have to guard a spoiled, snobby, actress. But when Hudson meets Stella, she's beautiful, smart, with a little sass. Hudson is attracted to Stella, even though they are the complete opposite. Hudson and Stella are perfect together. I really enjoyed these two characters, and this book. Hudson is a strong, loyal, sexy, smart, fierce, and protective man. Stella is a strong, smart, sassy, sweet, loyal woman. If you want to find out more about Hudson and Stella, you'll just have to read this great book. It is a great story. I could not put the book down. Kept me on the edge of my seat. There's different emotions in this book. I am looking forward to reading more from this Author. I recommend this book. Thank you, Charity Ferrell. Great work on this book :)

This Charity Ferrell standalone romance was my first read by her, and it was enjoyable and entertaining. Hudson Barnes is a small town boy who turned into a military man, but during his last deployment, his fiancée found comfort in his best friend. He returned home broken hearted and untrusting when another tragedy strikes his family. Hudson takes his brother's job as a bodyguard for famous television actress, Stella Mendes. Stella is a television actress trying to make her way into movies who has had a few run ins with crazy fans and death threats, so she uses the services of a live-in bodyguard. In the interest of of professionalism, this relationship is considered forbidden before it starts, but will these 2 be able to ignore there mutual attraction?

This book has just a few of my favorite things: a broody military man, forbidden romance, and serious tension. I binged this book, and have full intentions of binging the next two books about the Barnes siblings.

Characters 3/5--- Plot 2/5--- Writing Style 3/5--- Overall 2/5

I didn't love it; I didn't hate it; I certainly wouldn't reread it nor recommend it to others. I felt there wasn't enough substance to the plot, the story being a little bland. I also felt like the characters could have had some excellent development with their allocated backstories; however, nothing came of them; the story just brushed over them. The writing wasn't terrible, but I felt it was cheezy, and some of the more heated scenes felt tacky. I had issues with the distasteful "ownership" troupe, there is sexy and submissive, and then there is objectionable portrayal- the relationship was portrayed as only physical. I also disapprove of how the issue of PTSD was presented "PTSD goes away cause he sleeps with her"- it is a real issue, and it's disappointing that an author would write about it in an almost mocking manner.
I was disappointed but glad I had it as an audiobook, so I didn't physically waste time reading it.

Stella has sworn herself off all men, no relationships, because love sucks! Now to pass the time Stella is going to kill it with being the top of her career, but all plans change when he walks through the door with the job of being her bodyguard. He is the complete opposite to her LA life, but boy does him being dominating make her feel safe. But they shouldn’t really be drawn to each other like they are!

Hudson has just return from his last turn as a marine, and getting back on his feet is going to be difficult especially when as a favour for his brother he takes over his job while he takes care of his sick wife. Hudson never wanted to work with Stella let alone have to live with her. She is TV’s it girl, living a life of luxury in Hollywood, defiantly not his type, but boy is she going to prove him wrong, her smart mouth and killer body, and the right amount of sass brings him to his knees.

They promised they would keep their distance for each other, but no one can stop what happens when the doors close. But can one of them be strong enough to risk it all and truly be each other’s life?

This is the second novel I have read from Charity Ferrell, will most defiantly be looking out to read more of these incredible books from her.

This book was amazing. It had everything you needed to make this an amazing read that I was unable to put down and had me hooked from the first page. The two characters in this book were captivating to read and loved everything about them. I’ve been happy, laughing, sad, angry and frustrated all while reading this book, but I think this is also what helps makes this book even more great as it gives the book a balance through the storyline. There were things in this book that I didn’t expect to happen, that shocked me. But there were also things that I was just thinking stop fighting it and get to it.

I loved the chemistry that these two characters had, they knew when to be professional but they also had wit about them. The quickly broke down each other walls, that they had built up and slowly help piece each other back together. I love reading their developing connection, I love the chats that they would have late at night, or how without even realising it, how much they were helping repair each other from the inside. The connection they also shared within their sexy scenes also shows the trust they had in each other. They had me laughing and grinning uncontrollable on numerous occasions throughout the book with their witty comments, cheesy lines and just seeing them be flirty with each other. I liked how they more or less felt trusting of each other from the start and how it only improved over time with their connection continuing to grow. These two are defiantly are good couple as they each balance each other out.

This book also has brilliant secondary characters that really help these characters within this story, from Dallas and Willow. They each have very sad events that occur in this book but at other times really hold their own and are brilliant characters that also stand out in this book.
I also loved that this book was written in dual POV’s as we really get to found out these characters thoughts and feelings through their words, not from other people.

Hudson starts of in this book in a completely different headspace and mind-set. Just coming back from his last tour with the marines, Hudson now has to now try and move on with his life after the events with his Ex-Fiancée, and try and cope with all that he has scene. But never did he think that his life was about to become even more complicated. Taking over his brothers Bodyguard Job while he stays and spends whatever time left with his wife, Hudson flies out be the bodyguard for TV’s it girl Stella Mendes. But Hudson is soon to found out that she is nothing like what is sold in the headlines and tabloids. No Way. She has a killer Body, a smart mouth and is nothing like the spoiled princess he was expecting. As they start their journey together he finds himself opening up to Stella, while she also breaks down his wall that he fought to put back in place. She slowly begins to heal him and mend them broken pieces inside him. Never did he expect to fall in love. But will things get too far before they get to make a go of things together or will Stella lifestyle and fame break them before. I loved seeing Hudson heal in this book, he makes the biggest change in this book and its one that truly needs to be made in order for him to start again, with someone who deserves his love. He is a gorgeous, stubborn, loyal and protective of anything that’s his, and can tell he can and will love unconditionally.

Stella never really had a childhood. Being taken from audition to audition from a young age she was thrust in to the spot light. But people see her as the headlines suggest, a spoiled princess. But boy are they wrong. From her breakup with Knox Rivers she has sworn herself off men, that is until Hudson. But boy does she have a lot to prove to him. But with things and feelings developing between them, Hudson has only ever been the one to truly make her feel free to be herself, and not what everyone wants her to be. But being signed into a contract to be in relationship with a co-star, pressure it put on a building relationship that could threaten to tear things apart, as well as secrets. Would she be able to give up and flush her career away for love, or will she become as the tabloids suggest? She is a confident, headstrong woman who loves her career, that didn’t realise how much she could love someone from a completely different world or lifestyle.

Overall this was a brilliant read, that has a brilliant story, incredible characters who find love, learn to trust and repair each other. I hope this isn’t the last of these characters and that their story continues, but until then don’t miss this read!
