An Elondrian ambassador and his wife are kidnapped by the overlord of Cylmar, and Ayrion finds himself being whisked away in the middle of the night to save them.

Not even given the chance to tell his tribe that he is being sent on a secret mission, Ayrion and Room Eleven find themselves being forced to sneak behind enemy lines.

Unfortunately, as Ayrion's luck usually holds, nothing goes according to plan.

With this being Ayrion's first time to lead a mission, he doesn't want to fail, but the deeper into enemy territory they get, the more likely that outcome becomes.

On April 14, 2014, I opened my laptop and began typing what would become two multiple award-winning series: The Aldoran Chronicles, and Street Rats of Aramoor (both set within the same world, but twenty years apart). I just LOVE this series! I was thrilled to be able to continue that amazing track record I've had with the wonderful talent of Mr. Wisehart.

This is the 5th book in the series as we are following the life of Ayrion. This second series is somewhat of a prequel to the other series (The Aldoran Chronicles) that showcases the adult Ayrion. THIS series lets us follow Ayrion as we get to see HOW he became the man that we meet all those years later.

And...we are finally getting close. This book has us in his later teenage years. I think he is around 17 to 19 years old and he is having to make decisions about which pathway he is going to follow between Sandstorm and the Lancers. The prior books introduced us to the street gangs and they were a huge part of each story. Now, he is a Lancer for the Crown and has built a reputation despite his young age. Unfortunately, the Crown Prince has inserted himself into the Room Eleven group's new secret mission that they are given by the King. They are instructed to go rescue the Ambassador and his wife from another country that has a very evil and cruel leader.

As usual, what makes the book is not the mission itself, but the events that occur on the journey. And yep, this group definitely doesn't take the easy road. In true Ayrion fashion, they end up saving a town from an evil "shade", rescuing merchants from bandits, restoring the fish council....in other words, well, actually, I'm not sure what the words are except that "things" just tend to happen when Ayrion is around.

We also get to see a fantastic reunion with two people (no spoilers) that we were totally not expecting to ever see again, and to be fair, the Prince was only a LITTLE awful and difficult. Well, maybe a little more than a little.....

I also would be remiss if I didn't mention how fantastic Tim Gerard Reynolds is as the narrator. He does truly make this series a joy to listen to.

All in all, another wonderful installment in this series. I have not looked it up and have absolutely no idea how many more books there are in this series. I realize that we are getting CLOSE. It's been a while since I read The White Tower - which is the beginning book of the Aldoran Chronicles - so I honestly do not remember how old Ayrion is when everything goes to hell, but I'm hoping that we at least have one more book. Fingers crossed.

One day I downloaded a free prequel by an unknown author (at least to me), and started reading, expecting to not like it. Then Michael Wisehart has waved his magic pen and I was in a trance, I was so involved in the story, my emotion was so wound up, I thought I might explode.

Every book since, I got as soon as it was available, and every time at the end, I would think, "I didn’t think he could have gotten any better". But he did.

Then he surprised me when he published "Street Rats" and I read with anticipation, and was not let down. I did not at any time in all of the first three books ever know what was coming next. At no time did I ever think, why did he say it that way, it was alive, and I with it.

This 4th book made me mad, I had just got the newest book by a favorite author, and then I got Wildfire, within the first few pages, the other book became boring to me.

Other reviews I just read say it all about the majestic read of this story, all I can do is add my praise. I can only say that most good authors can tell an interesting story, but in this book, Michael tells it with characters that come to life in your mind. They breathe, you breathe. It is like Pinocchio, just a character before This author waves his magic wand and breathes life into them.

One reviewer mentioned some of the characters, and every one of them are memorable, even if they play a small role in the story.

I want more, and though I am intrigued with the method of how Michael used to bring young Aryion to age, and to the place the adult version is seen in his first series, I will still miss this young man, and all his juvenile cohorts, friends really.

Read and enjoy.

Reevey is terrible, irritating and annoying.
Surely book six will be better. Not every thing has to be a cliffhanger. I knew Sapphire would come even though Ariyon said he'd go alone.

good finale

This was a good finale slash segue to the next series. It was a good coming of age story. Much enjoyed.

Loved book 5 as much as the others. Loving the white tower series.

I think even though I love both series I would have enjoyed it more if the books had gone from beginning to end as far as Arions age and events. It's quite confusing how one series is the earlier life of arion and later life of arion. And then there is the long wait between books. When he is younger you can't really enjoy the adventure totally because you already know he don't die otherwise how would he have made it to the white tower series. It's hard to read about Damian as arions Freind when we already know that he turns out to be an enemy. It's like telly a punch line before the joke. Please finish the street rats before the white tower

I am so pleased with this series! It’s been a long time since I’ve read books of this quality with a compelling story and characters who seem so real. I can’t wait to add these books to my library!

The only reason I did not rate this book 5 stars is because it felt different, understandably so, from the others. This series is a five-book prequel to a previously-written trilogy - which I also plan to read - so this last book is the segue, and you can tell. But it’s still very good.

leg stab, leg stab,
This is what it must feel like to have your luck stat maxed out

I don't want to be that guy because it seems like a lot of people love this series. It's a decent enough story, but it has some issues.

light spoilers but so what I liked about this book. The mission part was enjoyable, especially the murder mystery part. and him reuniting with his family.
things I didn't like. why would any King allow his son to go on that mission that is illogical and bad writing. also, this book seems to solve every situation with last minute luck It's repetitive. The MC's is correct? wildfires destruction is his fault because he decides to use his special move leg stab instead of just getting rid of his enemies.

also when Red says If you knew what they did to me down there You wouldn't be saying that. and MC says Oh I've got a pretty good idea. that was super cringe with the context being she was getting ready to kill a soldier that probably took part in torturing/sexually assaulting her

I wish they would have dropped the romance in book 3 because it's written so poorly. feels like it's just tacked on.
oh yeah, on the magic side of things the main character shows no interest in any other magic other than his own like the invisibility spell that the murderers were using. that's pretty neat. maybe you should be looked into it or where five books in and we still don't know anything about Red's brother Po

lastly, at the end months have passed and they don't even think about going to eliminate Cutter or potentially going down to the warrants and getting rid of the warrant King and spats brother

honestly, I don't remember this character ever going on attack instead of playing defense and getting saved by luck. Don't get me wrong. I will finish this series but I don't think I want to read the White Tower series if it's like this.

Such A Great Series!

These five books were a delight to read. Not only was the story amazingly exciting and uplifting, it was skillfully written. A great mix that is hard to find these days.
It is best to read the books in order.

At 14, Ayrion gets banished from his home and runs from one life-threatening adventure to the next. He makes good friends along the way despite his colorless eyes giving away his mercenary heritage. As he grows into adulthood, he finds he has to make some difficult choices, leaving behind his childhood.

"This Street Rats of Armor" is a prequel to the main series that I intend to start reading as soon as I finish this much deserved review.

The books in this series have a lot of fighting that will make you cringe if you are like me, but they are generally wholesome books -- no language, and only a few oblique references to rape. I would rate it PG-13, although I'm sure there are too many younger children would probably not be phased by the content

I do highly recommend this book, and this series, although they should be read in order.

A very good adventure

Nothing goes right for Aryion and he has to adapt as he goes along. To rescue the ambassador and his wife he’s back to sneaking around. Only this time he has a crew from room eleven at his back. Being a superb swordsman he gets into various scrapes as he goes to the neighboring country to rescue the ambassadors. Getting out my be a problem when they get discovered during the rescue. Then following that Aryion goes undercover into the warrens on another rescue mission. He manages to bit off more than he can chew. Read the adventure for yourself, it starts in banished, the street rats of arimore.

Although book 5 is titled Wildfire, we spend most of our time following Ayrion and the lancers as they attempt to rescue the captured ambassador and his wife from the dungeons of Cylman.

It's a good adventure. They have troubles in a two where people are being killed brutally and randomly, and then they're on to the city of Ecrin. Soldiers are everywhere, but they still need to get the job done.

Wildfire gets tacked on at the end. Book 5 is a return to book 1, where we see more of the kingdom as Ayrion gets them into adventures.

Which means there is only one book left: Avalanche. Cutter is finally going to get his due.

All right

Honestly, when I read this, I was expecting some more goings on in Aramoor, but it turns out three fourths of the book happens in another place. Aryion and his gang of lancers have to rescue an ambassador and his wife after negotiations go sour.

This is the last book in the series, but there's very little concerning the book's title. I found the ending somewhat hurried, but fairly satisfying. Not a bad read, so I'm off to the next series...
The character I'm actually gonna miss most is Reevie.

After being woken in the middle of the night and for a clandestine top secret mission that that couldn't nor did they have the chance to tell anyone anything about where they were going or if and when they would be back. It was well written. As Wisehart continues to expand on the main characters in the book and have them growing up and maturing want new things it will be nice to see what next will be in store for the friends. Which I look forward to reading the final book in this series "Avalanche" to see what more exciting things Mr. Wisehart has planned for the friends.

Absolutely loved this series. All of the books are solid and entertaining. This latest is more in line with the first in the series in that it follows Ayrion while he is out of the city on a mission with his team. We got to see some old faces, and Ayrion got to showcase his skills when it mattered most. He is around 17 in this book, and is just figuring out where his life is headed, and what it will mean to those around him.

Another Great Read

Michael Wisehart newest book is one of the best fantasy books I’ve read in a long time. If you are a fan of horror, fantasy, action, suspense, it just a good time you will love this book. It truly has everything that a good fantasy read should have ate it. I am looking forward to the next book as I begin the new series for me at least that Wisehart has created.

Thoughtful and Exciting

As several other reviews have indicated, this book tackles some serious issues and does it with thoughtfulness and grace. No just glossing over the issues, nor over analyzing it, simply spending enough time to bring the issues to light and let readers decide how it should be delt with. Really a well done book and a great send off for the teenage years of Aryion.

Not much about Wildfire

Disappointed that the title and the content had very little in common. Author through in a short bit to include Red from the Wildfire tribe, but used MOST of the book to tell an unrelated tale. Good story, but NOT about the Wildfire tribe. Mistitled. Not a consistent contribution to the books preceding.

Street Rats

Just finished the last one!! Loved this series ❤️. The unexpected twists and turns held my interest. Action around every corner. I'm not a young adult, but still young at heart. Keep up the good work Michael. I'm going to start the next series. I'm sure it will be just as good 👍

I gave this a 5 star rating because any book that keeps me up way to late night after night deserves it.

I am disappointed that this is the last book in the series.

Bout time, when is the next?

It is refreshing to see a book with so few errors. I saw one word that was arguably used incorrectly but I won't tell you where. See if you can find it.
I have read his books since the white tower. A good author is hard to find. So follow this one.

Couldn’t put it down. I read this after the other series and wish I hadn’t. Well written in a twisty sometimes humorous sometimes dark way. The depth of character made me feel I knew them. This is a must read!!!

A much better storyline with a definite start and end.
Although, the first part of the book was a bit long.
I didn't feel that there was anything dangling at the end. However there are still some loose ends to tie up to make this series complete.
I guess the only thing to do is -- on to book 6! 👍
