Zoe Ray has a passion for captivating readers with characters that have insane chemistry. The Alpha Boss author began writing as an escape and gets lost in the stories she creates. She loves writing about alpha males and the women they can't resist, mixed with action and adventure.
When she's not writing, she enjoys immersing herself in culture, visiting museums, theaters, and traveling. For now, she has many more stories to share, and couldn't be more excited. Follow Zoe Ray, and get lost in her steamy love stories.
I wanted to like this one. It had the potential to be a good book but the author missed so many opportunities and lanes to delve into. Book was mehhhh. Spice was good though.
I needed there to be shock or some hesitation when she found out. I also don’t like that Darius asked her to be his mate while she was under the influence and didn’t know what she was in for. It should’ve been explained. I’ll also never be okay with having sex/foreplay with animals. The author could’ve very much kept that scene.
I hate when the MC is the odd man out for no reason. Like everybody in the family is lean except the MC. Or the family not being supportive at all for no reason in particular. The hair thing I understood to an extent but everything was just there for drama and didn’t add to the story. That bomb about Andre came out of no where and was never addressed. Like Darius didn’t even tell Aubrey, hey Andre is a wolf too. And now Darius is a millionaire? Audrey and Damien literally built no kind of relationship.
Some grammar issues. Author switched between first and third person. The dialogue could’ve been better. Felix and Damien should’ve had a POV. Only having the two POVs aids to my thinking that Audrey is only with the other two to be with Darius. Missed work and Sunday dinner but the shop is closed on Sunday so how did she miss work?
There were things I liked, didn’t like, and not sure how I felt about them. As shifters go the dynamic was different in terms of abilities and how a mate bond works. I appreciated Aubrey’s realistic reaction to an unorthodox situation. The way Darius behaves, the way all the guys behave was, I don’t know. I can’t decide if hate it or that’s it’s just so different that I’m just not used to it. It’s like her and Darius’s relationship is the most important, even the dual pov makes it seem that way. Plot wise I’m conflicted as well. And the stuff with her and her family really made me mad. I’ll definitely have to try another book to get a better feel for the writing style.
I believe this was my first shifter romance so I have nothing to compare this book too, & this book made me think 🤔 I need to find more shifter reverse harem romance books 😂! If nothing else, for the spice! Now I see what Bella from twilight’s dilemma was & why she had a hard time choosing between a vampire & a wolf! Both creatures intriguing in their own right!
Although there were things that were presented & said in the story that were left unexplained & felt a little unfinished, the overall story was pretty decent!
& the things that were taught in the process of telling the story was very good and made for a better reading experience!
“Everybody married ain’t happy, and everybody happy ain’t married. You remember that.”
Even though I have over 100 unread books in my kindle I saw the cover to Claimed At The Stroke Of Midnight and I knew I had to read it! It’s the first time I read anything from Zoe Ray and I absolutely LOVED IT! I read a LOT of Paranormal Romance & RH books but they rarely include people of color! So this was everything I’ve been looking for and more! Sexy Alphas & a Strong female lead! There was humor, action, romance and HOT SPICE! I’m looking forward to reading more from this author!
This was my first wolf shifter story and I was not disappointed. It was cute how Darius couldn't be without her. I love how Felix's character grew, and Damien was the ultimate charmer. Audrey's family was something else and I'm glad the triad showed her unconditional acceptance. There were a few errors, mostly spelling but not enough to detract from the story.
Audrey just wanted to be successful on her own terms, loved, and accepted but her family doesn’t respect it. They criticize her at every turn, questions her decisions, and gang up on her with every interaction. Never mind the fact that she’s a successful entrepreneur, social media influencer, and independent. They can’t get past the fact that she’s still single, childless, and doesn’t straighten her hair. She has endure so much ridicule and judgment from them, but she still perseveres. Darius is practically a reclusive alpha who is apart of a triad with Damien and Felix. He knows they’re mate will have to be with all of them. He encounters Audrey and tries and fails to keep his feelings and his wolf at bay. A very quick and lusty mating soon reveals that some very important things and people were omitted. Then the drama begins! Great read even though I wanted Michelle to get the breaks beat off of her.
Straight and to the point. I was excited to read this story when I saw 3 gorgeous black men with a wolf on the cover, finally.. a reverse harem story with black men :)
The plot was great, the dialogue between the characters seemed too simple. I felt that the book lacked descriptions to connect me to the characters in a way that would make me want to re-read this book. Things like describing the way Damiens eyes twinkled when he called Audrey Luna, or the way his face had those sexy crinkles by his eyes and mouth when he laughed. Or how exactly did she break down Felix's guard, what emotions in his past did he have to work through that made him accept her love and change for her, which he said he would not do.. I read the explanations the author gave, I just didn't FEEL them. Meh! I didn't fall in love with all the characters.
Now the mature scenes were well written, no complaints there. I could clearly visualize every touch, stroke, and lick that Audrey gave and received. So those get 10/10 😉
I was ecstatic to read a fantasy reverse harem with all black cast but this book was trash. It seemed rushed and had no real depth to it. It felt like it was written by an inexperienced or basic writer. I read it completely to try and give it a chance but it was just so flawed. First the dialogue between the main female character and her family was annoying and then she finds a mate without knowing and they’re already fucking without knowing his name and then begins crying out of nowhere and he’s making her submit with no finesse. It was a bore. The spicy scenes was okay but I would have like the dialogue to be more balanced, an actual storyline would’ve been nice and add in some depth and finesse it would have been a good read.
Based off the writing style of this author I will not read any of her books again. I’m confused as to how a lot of people enjoyed it. My only guess is they have never read fantasy reverse harem that is well written. I’m disappointed that I have wasted my time.
This book did the thing I dislike about some of these books that involve more than one male main character (MMC). Audrey, the female main character (FMC), has more of a connection with Darius than she does with Felix and Damien. I thought it would be because she spent more time with Darius, but even in the end it seemed she was more so Darius’s woman that he willingly shared with Felix and Damien.
Speaking of all three men, I’m so confused about their dynamic. Darius is Alpha even though Felix and Damien are triad bonded with him, and that’s why they all will have the same mate. I don’t understand how their triad is supposed to be so strong but the other two aren’t co-Alphas with Darius.
The relationship between Audrey, her mother, and her cousin is supposed to make drama, but it just did not work for me. It was poorly fleshed out. I was disappointed by the resolution. It was very convenient.
Cons: For the love of gawd get a copy editor!!! There were too many typos and that was just annoying. The MC's name is Audrey, but I saw the name Aubrey a few times in the beginning. There wasn't enough world-building, and this story really needed it. I didn't like Audrey. She was too whiny, insecure, and immature. I'm all for flawed characters, but it got to be too much, I was rolling my eyes halfway through this.
Pros: The spicy scenes did not disappoint! The story was engaging in spite of the writing. I was annoyed with a lot of the prose, but still interested in what would happen. There was also an interesting twist (no spoilers) that helped drive the action forward.
This was my first shifter book, I normally just stick to human-on-human action, lol! It was fun and I would probably read another of this author's books, but time will tell if I become a true fan.
I really enjoyed this book but it just felt a little rushed I think. I would have liked to know more about Damien and Felix but more so Damien. His character felt like an afterthought. The spicy scenes were solid but the one when he shifted into his wolf was a little off putting. Overall I like dialogue and the heroine was sassy but not overly so. Sometimes black women in romance are written to be super “sassy” to make them “more black” and it drives me crazy. This book was well written and I will definitely read more by this author. Headed to download another one right now actually!
This book was such a pleasant surprise!! I really liked this book! It was the perfect amount of spice and plot. Why choose and reverse harem is one of my favorite tropes where the men do not sword cross and in this book it was perfect because she had 3 beautiful shifter men and none of them sword crossed!
The only reason it is not a 5 is because about 2 or 3 parts of the book felt rushed but overall this book is great! I am pleasantly surprised and relieved that I did like this book because I was weary of this author because I did not enjoy the first book I read by her called “Mark of the Dragon” but this one made up for it!
This is the second selection I’ve read by Zoe Ray, and I’m glad I didn’t give up on her. This title was so much better than the first one I read. The storyline is decent and pretty well fleshed out. Ms. Ray’s world of shifters veers away from typical shifter lore and that may be off-putting to fans of the genre. Additionally, the MFC’s family’s issues with her are so superficial it comes off as juvenile. In truth, both antagonists/conflicts are very basic and easily resolved. Stir, I may try another of her titles.
I love shifter tropes, even reverse harems are cool for me, BUT…I could not finish this book. The writing seemed rushed and the reactions of the characters were overly dramatic. Perhaps to quickly get us to the buildup, not sure. I just couldn’t get into it. I really wanted to see where Audrey would go with the other two wolves, but I stopped at 47%. It just wasn’t worth it to continue.
Maybe I’ll come back to this book, but I doubt it. Sadly, this was raved about on Tik Tok and it just didn’t live up to the hype for me. 😬🤷🏾♀️
This was a reverse harem human/wolf shifter romance. The premise was a good one with somewhat interstate characters. There were several lulls in the story that mostly occurred during scenes with dialogue and that was only because they seemed to go on for an unnecessarily long, repetitive time that didn’t move the story forward. But outside of that the story progresses well.
It was a nice story. I agree with others that it feels as though Damien and Felix were extras in the story and not really apart of the relationship. Also, the conflict between Audrey and her family was a little too....something? Idk, but I wasn't really feeling it. Overall, I love that the paranormal world is expanding to include women and men of color. I would definitely like to see more work from Ms. Zoe Ray!
The story is really good! It's very intriguing and a real page turner. I love how you made the story spicy without making it slutty. I love that the lead character, Audrey, is a strong woman, not some abused person. I would read more from this author. However, the book is in desperate need of an editor because there are so many mistakes! I get it...I am a self-published author also, but if you aren't great at editing you need to invest in one.
I posted on FB last month that I needed a good book and Zoe, girl thank you. I really enjoyed it. As a avid reader of the supernatural genre this book read very well. I loved all the twist and turns but what stood out the most was all the lessons, my favorite character was Damien for that reason alone. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
Wow!!! This is the first book I have read by this author. Let's just this.story was not what I was expecting. I enjoyed this book that I finished it in a 1 day. Her family.was a little extra for me and her cousin is another story. Family is supposed.to have your back through the good and bad. Audreys' family dropped the ball on several occasions.
This story has it all! Romance, drama, betrayal, comedy, murder & a HEA. I loved reading the evolution of this relationship involving Audrey, Darius, Damien and Felix. There’s was some “fatal attraction “ happening which was exciting and an unexpected love connection! I would definitely recommend this book!
Man oh man! Where do I start with this book?!!? You know those fantasy that some might have but you’re not allowed to speak about let alone act it out…..well nobody said you couldn’t read about it or wonder what if…….. Very good read, if you want to unwind and let your imagination taker you on a trip!
Exciting, 🔥🥵💦 I came by this book randomly and I am so happy I gave it a chance. The men were sexy and exciting. I loved Audrey's no nonsense attitude. I wish we could've gotten a little more conflict but all in all this book is now in my top ten. I want to read more from author. I am hooked.
This book had so much potential. The plot was good, and would have made a great story. It’s the writing and inconsistencies that got to me. The dynamic between the MC and her family literally drained me. If the fate of the world depended on the MC, why go look for a replacement? I had to stop 50% into the book.

Lol I wanna mate with an alpha wolf! This story was very interesting. To have a man feel connected to you, to want to spend the rest of his life with you, to year for you when you're away from each other is so amazing. Amd now imagine that with 3 men! Wow wow wow is all I can say ♥️
This right here was a good time. If you enjoy shifters, reverse harems and three Alphas. This is the book for you. Did it have drama, yes! Did I enjoy the drama, yes again! Did I want Audrey to have all that attitude she had for her mates for her family, yup! But that's another story for a different day.
The spice in this book was exactly what was needed.
This book was something different. That cousin was a whole jealous so and so. I would have done way more then what she did. Nicole was a whole nutbasket. I see that wolves can be cray cray to not just humans.
Love the flow of the story. Loved how Audrey found herself and got what she needed and deserved with Darius, Felix & Damien!! She still should have have beat her cousins ass!! Lol!!
Baby listen….I wasn’t ready for this…..I’m still in shock after reading it twice…..hmmmm I’m ready to speak French!! Okay!!! A must read….LORDT!!!Zoe over here turning people OUT!!!
Miss Z, you put it down with this book!! YES MOMMA!! Felix, 😘my favorite!!! A Book for the romantic paranormal shifter lovers. It covers all aspects of what I love in an excellent read. Please, keep them coming!
