When Alaric Mason flies a new client into a remote area of the Pacific North-West to study a population of grizzly bears, it’s supposed to be a routine trip. But when an EMP is detonated during the early morning hours, Alaric must lead himself and his client out of the dangerous wilderness and to his family before the chaos of the EMP reaches his homestead.
The Last Cabin
A cabin on the outskirts of a city becomes the sanctuary for a mother and her two children during the unfolding crisis of an EMP.
Life has hardened Joanna Mercer, and she has spent the past four years since her husband's death preparing herself against the uncertainties of life. After an EMP destroys the nation's power grid, every ounce of that strength will be tested.
This box set comprises four books: The Breakdown, The Last Cabin, Broken Lines, and Broken Ties. Between those four books, there are 1,145 pages of spine tingling action, action that never stops, from the first page till the last page.
Over the years, I have read many post EMP type thrillers, some good ones, some terrible ones, and some exceptional ones; this was one of the exceptional ones. Although there were multiple stories being told, each with their own unique characters and plot lines but, from the very beginning I knew Walker would tie them all together in the end, and he did. The ultimate climax to all these stories was one that took me by surprise. It was an ending that I never saw coming, but a very satisfying ending none-the-less.
The characters that Walker created were so lifelike that they reminded me of people that I know or people that I once knew. At 1,145 pages, this is one of the longest reads that I have read in many years, but those pages flew by so fast that it felt more like a 300 page read. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Robert J. Walker.
I usually pass up on this kind of writing but I said what the heck maybe I'll like it. So I fell into one and was very entertained like on the edge of my seat. So I read them all. Really loved and enjoyed all of them. Is there more? Thanks for your talent in writing!
DNF. I made it 4 hours in, but when a homeless man becomes the supervillain it just becomes too much. So much of this book is unrealistic in any universe. There are so few good books in this genre and I don't think I have found one worth a damn in the "EMP Survival in a Powerless World" series. That sucks.
The boxset doesn’t really flow from book to book. The first book was good and kept me engrossed. By time I got to the third book, they were all just killing each other and there wasn’t anyone left at the end that I cared enough about. It shouldn’t be a boxset unless the people carry over so that you get engrossed in their survival. The stories did make me start thinking about “what would I do?”.
Killing the enemy isn’t murder. Some grammar issues in book 2. Reservists didn’t have very secure armory. More citizens should have had firearms. How did the moslems hide their numbers ?
I loved this book. I was involved with this story from the very beginning. I liked the different people coming in and how developed each person was. I loved the main family. Will surely look for more books from this author.
The story is fast paced ,full of adventure,I could not put it down an excellent read, wanted to find out what happened but hated for it to end ,will definitely be reading more from Mr Robert J walker
This set of books kept me reading until all hours of the night. While the outcome is sad, the overall read was good. If you like dystopian tales this one is a very good choice.
NOTE: This set continues 4 books.

I enjoyed all of the books. I know there will grammatical errors, but that's to be expected. Don't know if I like the ending. It was sad but hopeful with the others.
