Poetry. If you don't yet know Mario Susko's poetry, let this be the book you come to treasure. An international reader, Susko's popular YouTube video (by poetryvlog.com), indeed shows Mario's distinctive dragged down humanity--a tendency to survive by the absurd rather than to be torn apart by the tragic (Library Journal)--still lifting itself to the page, as if at least out of witness. What is surreal is existential. If Bukowski had endured Croatia in war, this might be a kindred result. Only, the cynic is beauty. Susko's poetry is the friend you're glad found a way to bring himself to water.
