Blackridge Prep #3

Violent Promises

Rate this book
Violent Promises is the final book in the Blackridge series!

When one reckless decision and a possessive heart lead to an inescapable debt...

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d be at the mercy of a man who only wanted one thing, my death.

With each passing hour, my growing despair wars with my murderous blood.

Do I give in to the inevitability of life with the enemy, or do I allow the serial killer inside of me to come barreling to the surface?

I don’t want the man who keeps me locked away.

I want my monster, my darkness, my Caelian.

I long for his cruel eyes and bruising touch. The rage which consumes him calms the madness in me.

Without him, I feel as if the mania I’ve fought to control will ignite, devouring me entirely.

The day is nearing where I’ll be forced to choose, and at the end of it all, I wonder, will he be there to save me, or will I be on my own?

I cling to the hope that when the day comes, Caelian will be beside me.

But if not, I’m determined to make it out alive. There’s no alternative.

I am a Crow, after all.

Violent Promises is a full length novel and the final book in the Blackridge Series. Please be advised that this book contains content which may be triggering to some readers.

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'🆅🅸🅾🅻🅴🅽🆃 🅿🆁🅾🅼🅸🆂🅴🆂' is the third and final full length book in author A.R. Brecks's 'Blackridge Prep' series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' It does kick start off right where the previous cliffy left us dangling.

“𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆. 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒐, 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒕.”

This is going to be a no frills kind of review, no spoilers.

These two thrived in chaos, blood thirsty mania as they took out unsuspecting people off the streets, coating it in their blood. Both natural born killers from an early age, both programmed to kill without remorse. These two were imperfect, but perfect for each other. I don’t think the author could’ve paired them up better than she did.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙚, 𝘽𝙖𝙗𝙮 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙬. 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙, 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮, 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡. 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨. 𝙈𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨. 𝙒𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚.”

This series took me by surprise, never knowing I’d be falling in love with these characters as much as I did. Dark, thrilling, suspenseful which had me sitting on the edge of my seat and never wanting to close out of that last chapter due to loving this series as much as I did.

I'm excited to see what this author comes up with next, because whatever it is I'll be along for the ride.

I made it through this trilogy without giving up and that honestly says something. I might have struggled a lot with the characters and if you read my reviews for the previous books then you know there were a lot of things that I didn't enjoy. But I stuck with it because the overall story still had me captivated. I needed to know how the story would end for two crazy characters like Raven and Caelian. So without me going on another rant about the characters I'll just say, it was okay. I think a lot of people will enjoy the story way more than I did and I'd still recommend it.

The 1st book was awesome, the second I rounded up to 4 stars ⭐️ and this I struggled to finish. 54% into the book & I just wanted it to be over. I struggled to understand why Raven acted the way she did?? I know she had been through an awful lot in the 1st two books but jeezo she completely loses herself and to be honest… if you’re naturally a psycho killer I don’t see how you can lose those animalistic urges for blood & murder so quickly🤷‍♀️ yet with the Irish mafia family she became unrecognisable, it didn’t sit right with me! I felt as though I was reading about a completely different character. There were so many opportunities to escape especially outside the wedding shop that it baffled me why they were mentioned in the 1st place. Raven was a cold blooded killer and could fight like a demon, taking down grown men thrice her size yet she let Connor Oclare cut her pinky off without so much of a fight. It mentioned earlier that she was weak from two months of staying away from fighting in the notorious Inferno etc but in book one she was beaten and kept in the basement for a full week & still bounced into the inferno a week later. Like seriously… she was having steak dinners most nights & had only skipped training for two months. You don’t forget how to fight after two months!!! Then low and behold, after her “rescue” she steps off of the plane and literally goes out hunting & takes down a huge big guy without any hesitation. The remainder of the book was good though. Personally I think the whole Irish Mafia “thing” wasn’t needed. If the author put more thought into the stalker/serial killer that was after her & ditched the Irish element it would’ve flowed a lot better in my opinion. I think a duet would’ve been perfect as that 1st book was brilliant. It’s as though the author tried to add too many elements to the story and drag it out. Personally, I would’ve preferred a solid duet rather than a trilogy. Again, my own personal opinion. I really did enjoy them just not the 3rd book as much. Oh and while I remember… If a high school girl goes missing would there not be a full investigation? especially if it’s the daughter of a congressman? 🤔 like seriously, it was never spoken about again which bugged me. Surely the police would be asking questions at the school & interrogating Raven as she was the last person to see her alive? The two friends she was with the night of her disappearance never mentioned a thing to the police & were back at school albeit making snide comments to Raven about their friends death/disappearance but nothing else was said or brought to the attention of the principle or police. That bugged me, maybe the author thought we’d all got the memo that The Morrellis were untouchable. 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, I don’t mean to be bitchy but those are my gripes & I just kinda feel let down as I loved book 1 ❤️

Such a great ending for a truly phenomenal series. Raven and Caelian both go through so much in the entire series and their happily ever after was hard to find. But, they always had each other and that made it all the more better!

“𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆. 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒐, 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒕.”

One of the best decisions I made this year was picking up Twisted Dares, thereby discovering A.R. Breck. I loved this series so much and can’t wait to see what Breck comes up with next! Maybe even see a catch up novella, so we can see what Raven and Caelian are up to in the future! 👀😈

This series has become one of my favourites and I’m so sad we see Caelian and Ravens beautiful and chaotic relationship come to an end. Violent promises was the most dark of the series. We see so much character development from every single character, not always in a positive way either which I liked. But I did feel that every character had grown so much since the first book and I wanted to sob when it was over. I felt like I’ve been on such an emotional rollercoaster ride.

I just wanna shout out Rosko. what a good boy he is, the best boy ever! I love a dog/Wolf best friend! I can’t say too much without there being spoilers with this one but honestly, read this series. So well written. I’m so enamoured with the Morelli family 💜

Contains spoilers for all three books

Man, this series had everything to be good, but then it got halfway through the second book and by the third, I wanted to strangle the girl!

The author described in the ENTIRE first book that the girl was a typical psychopathic killer and had Crow blood in her veins. In other words, the blood of bad people and serial killers. So far so good, but when she is kidnapped by her stalker and held captive for a week, she witnesses some disturbing things that leave her completely out of the house.

The author simply CHANGED the girl's personality from a psychopathic killer to an insufferable crybaby! I totally understand the author putting at most 4/5 caps in book TWO about the girl going through a bad time, as she suffered a trauma, but then putting in book TWO and in the ENTIRE book THREE a character totally different from what was described In the first book, it's killer! Anyway, in the second book she ends up completely unbalanced.
In the third book, she is kidnapped again and suffers some violence in her captivity, but she simply doesn't REACT!!!!!!!! I just stayed like this: I'm a Crow, I have Crow blood in my veins, blah blah blah blah. But I just DON’T REACTTTTTTT!! I was like "mona for the love of God stop crying and react!!! her father would be ashamed"!

And then the worst of the worst, Raven became a murderer simply when a woman came close to Caelian, then she became crazy and started killing others, but Mona couldn't react when she was being raped... You'll understand, right. It's to ruin the clown's coolness and get irritated. The author got lost and I LOVE A.R. Breck's writing, but this trilogy was just a disappointment.

Anyway, the change in the girl's personality for me, ENDED the series, this series had everything to be 5 stars for me, but with these events it only got 2.5 stars. The only thing that saved this series was Caelian, my love, my princess! Caelian all the time tried to make Raven grow into her @ss@ssina personality, even when she was completely unbalanced, SINCE SHE WAS A CROW, Caelian was there to hold her back. Caelian was perfect from start to finish in this series.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, because if you've read my prior reviews on book 1 & 2, you will know I've struggled with this trilogy. This book was no different. This is the first set of books I've read by this author and I'm not sure I will read any more.

Raven seems to find herself in this book, but not not before I had to suffer through about 1,178 pages give or take a few. She doesn't really come into her own until oh about 50 pages left in this book. We still get the whiny Raven who is scared and just doesn't know how to control herself.

And don't get me started on Aria. She's 50,000 times worse.

I'm glad it's over.

This was painfully awful. Don't waste your precious time.

After the last book jumped the shark at the end, I decided I would still try this book. Oh man, it was so hard. I skimmed through til like 40%, then I just couldn't do it anymore. I DNF. This author has good ideas but then she pushes to make her books a series, for the almighty dollar I assume, then they just fall dead and awful. Such a shame. I definitely won't read any more books by this author.

Waah I’m so sad this series is over now! Caelian and Raven were everything! They were so perfect for each other. I loved seeing them come together and grow together! SO much happened in this book, it was just one thing after the other, didn’t expect to find it sad half way through!! I just wanted to hug them all! I was so happy to see them over come everything! Loved the family and I definitely need books for the brothers 👀 I still wasn’t too bothered about Aria, she annoyed me too much in the first 2 books to end up caring 😂 such a good series!! I wish we could of had an epilogue just a little bit further out!!

I have never had such a love-hate relationship with a book. I loved that I had the third book in this series so quickly - thank you for a rapid release! But I was also heartbroken that this was goodbye for Raven and Caelian! I simply need more from them!!!!!

Even though I was mad it was over it was the perfect ending! The love between Caelian and Raven is just to die for (literally) they have such a deep connection, watching them grow together and the way they learnt to calm/control each other's emotions is so beautiful to see... they are truly made for each other.

This was once again a very DARK, action-packed, steamy, masterpiece full of violence, love, loss, heartache, and healing, and you will NOT be disappointed. A.R always does such an incredible job at writing crazy unique plots, with badass main characters, loveable and interesting secondary characters, and drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and Violent Promises is no different.

If you haven't started this series yet, then what are you waiting for? You honestly won't regret it. This is hands down one of my favourite series! Fingers crossed we get more from this world soon... Gabriel, Aria, and Matteo (pretty please A.R)!

Freaking Caelian makes my heart swell! Him and Raven are just 🤌🤌🤌

Violent Promises picks up at the end of that doozy of a ciffy from Deceiftul Truths. I have been anticiptating this one because I know it's going to be an epic ending for Raven and Caelian. There is so much happening in this one. I am so proud of Raven from the first time we met her until now. She has grown and even though she was strong before, Caelian has boosted her and made her unbreakable for anyone, but him. The way they possess each other... *sigh*

This book had me on the edge the whole time. I never knew what was going to happen and with a threat looming over their heads, my anxiety was HIGH. SO HIGH throughout the book. A.R. Breck has created an amazing series with characters that will live with me forever. I would love to see more from this world... Aria and Gabriel? 🤞🤞🤞

Anyway, I will always reccomend this series to anyone that loved their FMC and MMC a bit unhinged, loves suspense, and loves the touch her and die vibes, this series is definitly one to read. I love that they both are so possessive and perfectly made for each other. This series has been a favorite of mine and will forever stay with me. Now I need a reset button so that I can read it from the beginning for the first time again.

“I’ll mend your soul everytime it cracks, and I’ll repair it each time it begins to shatter. I’ll pick you up when you fall, and I’ll hand you a knife when you seek death. You don’t have to worry anymore, because there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. “

Is somebody cutting onions up in here? This was
so bittersweet. I’m so sad Caelian and Raven are
done, but if we really had to be over this book was
it. I fucking love Raven and Caelian and this will
probably be one of my favorite series ever. I’m
obsessed okay? I think you probably should be
too! I’m hoping we get more out of this world.
I loved every single person in the Morelli family,
and we can’t forget Aria. If you haven’t read this
series yet what are you waiting for? Get your ass
in gear and get to it!

“She looks angelic, and it feels like it should be a bad omen to look at something so beautiful. The things she does to my psychotic soul, taming it when no one else could. She’s saved me, and she doesn’t even know it. I was a fraction of a human, a manic man running on autopilot, only driven by blood and pain, but then she showed up and taught me so many things.”

This trilogy is a adrenaline inducing crazy dark and twisted ride and we get the perfect ending for this story! Caelian and Raven are by far my favorite psycho toxic couple ever these two are made for each other their chemistry is intense they are both over the top jealous possessive and just crazy for each other not only does Caelian give off major touch her and die vibes but Raven is right there with her love for him she’s insanely protective and possessive over him as well . This story was literally all I’ve lived and breathed for the past couple months this couples journey has been bumpy it’s emotional even heartbreaking but what a journey it is . I hope this isn’t the last we see of the Morelli’s I love this mafia family and their world is crazy and addictive I’m keeping my fingers crossed! I highly recommend reading this trilogy and if you do read it go in blind and hang on for the dark and crazy ride !

I love this series. It just got better and better with each book. This final one was the perfect ending to this series. Although, I am sad that this is the last of Caelian and Raven's story. These two are Clyde and Bonnie aka endgame.

Caelian and Raven have come a long way from book one. They have grown and learned how to keep their rage under control. Yet, that does not mean that I want to be on their bad side as their enemies including Connor discover. Yet, I don't feel bad for Connor. He was a real a**.

A.R. Breck kept the fireworks coming with this final book. I was on the edge f my seat while reading this book. Just as I was recovering from the first big moment, the next shot was fired and so on. If you enjoy reading dark romances with kick butt characters that will rip a hole in your heart, than, you need to read this series!

Violent Promises is the final book in the Blackridge Prep series by A.R. Black and it is as dark as one book can get! The ending comes with blood, gore, pain, and lots of tears but it also gives us a glimpse of immense devotion and true love. How can two equally psychotic people fall in love, you ask? Well, you have to read the trilogy to see for yourself. So, if two of the most apathetic and insouciant people like Raven and Caelian can find peace in each other, there is hope for us yet! Of course, they have this incredible chemistry going for them as well, so let me cross my fingers😉😂 If you are into dark romance full of action and suspense, Blackridge Prep series could definitely be the answer to your prayers.

What a whirlwind of emotion! I had to set it down and come back after calming down multiple times! There was a LOT of resolution packed into this final book and multiple times I was afraid of a repeat. I’m glad Raven got her sense relatively back because damn 😂, I was gonna have to fight the sense into her haha. I’m so sad to step away from their world, but I will grovel and beg for an Aria and Gabriel spin off.

ARC REVIEW

These books honestly get better and better, and I’m sad this series has come to an end! I do hope we’ll get more of these characters though because there are still some unanswered questions around some of them! Caelian and Raven’s story was toxically perfect and I just love how they accept each other so completely! A.R. Breck did an amazing job writing complex characters and gave them so much depth, with a great story line, and let’s not forget the smut! I was anxious for most of this book and I absolutely loved it! And I’m obsessed with the ending, coming full circle!

I became bored with the series and honestly just hoped that it would be over with a HEA. I had to stop about halfway through when she was rescued because I didn’t care to read her recovery story and how the planed to murder the guy who took her. Interesting plot for the whole series just dragged on maybe a bit too much.

The story is dark, twisted, intense, thrilling, steamy, angsty dramatic and romantic. It is a dark high school, mafia romance novel that begins after the cliff hanger at the end of Book 2. The author answers all questions that had arised in the minds of its readers in Book 1&2. The author gives a proper conclusion to the story which the readers hope for, after the first two books. This books comes with a lot of trigger warning and is darker than its predecessors but will be liked by its readers. It is narrated in dual POV and has a resilient female protagonist. It is a highly recommended book for readers who like this genre.

Personal Take:
This book was the best out of the three. Mainly because it had the ending which I wanted. This book was darker than the rest of the series and I just loved how strong the female protagonist was, till the very end. This was a great read for me.
