Confined into a dark, abandoned basement with nothing but the clothes on my back.
There's no escaping obsession, especially one honed by a serial killer who's bound and determined to call me his.
Forever.
Every day grows more dire with death circulating my existence.
I believe all hope is lost until I'm saved by my own monster, the man who enslaves my soul.
His darkness is even more dangerous than my abductor's, his obsession even more deadly.
But my life is still at risk, and I find myself barely able to hold on to my sanity as danger once again looms in the distance, the walls closing in on me at every turn.
The mania I've attempted to keep hidden after all these years is cracking, shards of insanity splitting from my chest and falling to dust at my feet.
I have no choice but to stalk through the madness and hope I make it out alive.
📚'𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐒'📚 is the second full length book in author A.R. Breck's 'Blackridge Prep' series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' This is a continuation of Caelian and Raven's story. This can not be read as a stand-alone.
Holy fuckeroo. This was twisted, addictive, and had me sitting on the edge of my seat more times than I can count. The body count increased, bang bang death! Blood on their hands..And a serial killer on the loose tick tock. He was coming for her..
Caelian god where to start with this character, this guy pretty much stole the show in this book, for a guy that struggles daily with his emotions he got me in this book. He was just that much more. Everything concerning him was switched up a notch. I fell under his spell and didn't want to wake up. The backwards and forwards of their strong wills at loggerheads will grab each angst whores attention, these two are toxic, psychotic, and ruthless killers.
Raven had her wings clipped in this one, she'd lost that fight in her, she was broken and hanging on by a thread, one wrong move by anyone and she'd go Psycho on them. She was like a natural disaster waiting to explode.
This series to date has been such a high octane rush with each page inhaled!
Then words failed me as I was catapulted over that cliffy to end all cliffy’s! That was brutal. A few curse words thrown in the authors direction has me highly anticipating the next book!
Such a unique, unpredictable, unputdownable series, there is no other series like it!
The first book was saved by the fact that I found it to be an intriguing premise. This one not so much. Raven felt all over the place in this book and she was constantly flying off the handle, which could go with the whole "I'm so dark" thing, but it felt too random and became annoying. This entire book was just frustrating with almost every interaction between characters being nothing more than someone screaming about something or getting angry, especially Caelian being mad at Raven for stupid reasons. It was honestly exhausting and all of these fights barely moved the story along so it felt very repetitive and like we were just going in circles.
Also Raven's character has changed so much it feels like, and not in a good way. There is no badass fighter in this book. She might go into her little temper tantrums and do stupid shit like try and beat someone up but it was more that she couldn't control herself and not that she was some amazing fighter. Which is how the first book started until the Caelian came around and suddenly Raven became a damsel.
Also Aria did not get any better in this book and instead just gave me more reason to hate her. But I've already moved on to the third book even though I really couldn't care less about the cliffhanger that came out of nowhere. So I guess that says something and overall the story is enough to keep me going.
After inhaling/devouring the first book (which I absolutely loved) I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one, anticipation levels spiking when it arrived on my kindle and then life was put on the back burner while this was inhaled in one sitting. I loved coming back to this world.
“𝑾𝒆’𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓.”
The spice is AMAZING. Caelian and Raven’s relationship is off the charts. These two are OBSESSED with each other and I love it! Even the extreme parts.
My girl Raven… she’s gone through so much and she’s still going through a lot. First she has a stalker on the loose, gets kidnapped, and her cousin being mad at her?? I honestly wonder if she’ll ever catch a break. Although she has Caelian and his love/obsession, there’s a lot of secrets between them.
The authors pacing throughout the series so far has been phenomenal. I never feel bored, and the twists at the end!?!? I swear, the storyline will keep you hooked and guessing what’s gonna happen next.
I seriously cannot wait for the next book!! I’m dying to know what happens next!
Yeah, I was afraid of this, but I didn't like it. My problem...Raven. She is horribly immature. Of course, she's damaged. Of course, she's been through some things. But she was the first book and nothing has changed. We literally spend 399 pages of the same thing. She's constantly saying she's scared, she doesn't know how to find herself. Cae is constantly telling her I'll help you, follow me, I'll show you. Then what does she do... A girl was touching Cae, Raven beats her up. A girl was talking about Cae, Raven kills her. A girl was talking about Ravens scars, so she beats and chokes. A girl says I know who you are Raven, she starts to beat her. Get the pattern. Good, because THE WHOLE FREAKING BOOK IS LIKE THIS!!!!! Everyone is chasing their tails trying to fix everything for her. It's beyond ridiculous.
She causes all the issues herself in this book. It's because she won't listen to anyone. And again, this book ends on a freaking cliffhanger. And the sad part is, I'm going to go and open the next book now because I have to hope (there has to be hope, right) that the author will finally let Raven be the hard core girl she's supposed to be. The equal match to Cae. I guess we can only hope.
a thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of this book!
once again i have been sucked back into the world of the morellis, and i couldn’t be happier! i absolutely love raven & caelian’s relationship & all the problems that come with it, but i do think that this book was a bit repetitive. whole i did enjoy aria’s character, in the end, i do wish her development hadn’t been so quick, as it seemed almost unbelievable.
that being said, the ending has left me excited for the next book and i can’t wait to see where the blackridge prep world will take me!
While book 2 might have been a little better than the first one it was only because of Caelian and his brothers. I may have been on the fence about how I felt about Raven in book 1, but I definitely wasn’t in book 2. I couldn’t stand her. She was reckless, childish and threw more temper tantrums than a five year old. I just couldn’t stand her at all. And for the most part Aria was just a brat. I was actually glad to see Caelian’s mom lay into her in the beginning, she deserved it. Someone needed to do that with Raven. She just kept stirring shit up and causing more problems for Caelian’s family to clean up. Every time he told her not to do something because of the dangers or to let Aria be for a bit to calm down, Raven ignored him and did the opposite. Even taking off in his car, crashing it before it exploded and then demanded he take her to Inferno because she wanted to fight. I almost quit reading because I dislike her that much as a character.
Idk what happened in this book but I am disappointed. Raven unfortunately goes through severe trauma from the copy cat serial killer crow. In this book we also get to see who it is. - Beside that Raven becomes insufferable and annoying. She lets her anger and jealousy get the best of her, and made irrational decisions. Caelian and his family have more patience then me honestly… In a way I understand her frustration on not finding the serial killer…. On the other hand…
And aria. I liked her character in the first book. Sometimes it felt like she was being sheltered by not only her parents but Raven as well… As she witnessed the murder of her parents from R’s hands, she started to act mean and reckless as well. Did she forgot how abusing they were being? Unfortunately, with the cliffhanger, I want to read the third book to see what happens.
I like it xd
Thank you to Taylor who not only recommended this series to me but also dealt with my freak out text messages all day.
I am UNWELL and UNFIT for what these books are doing to me. Like, Raven honey. Baby girl. Put the weapons down. Cae for once is not the absolute batshit crazy one??? Who would of thought. I need everyone to get their shit together and fix this crazy ass mess. Otherwise I will be needing immediate sedation. Thank you.
The heroine is so dumb like....SO DUMB It's a shame because I'll still read the next book because of the damn cliffy they left this book with I cannot believe this plot is so dragged.
Raven needs to get her mind in her fucking head and not her man's dick and also her knee
Thank you PeachyKeen Aurhor Services and AR Breck for an ARC copy of this book.
'I'm a monster, she mumbles. And the darkness, so you're exactly where you belong'.
Holy 🔥🔥🔥 I'm normally cautious of the second book in a series. It's hard to match the same energy of the first book but oh did this not disappoint. Dare I say even surpassed the energy of Twisted Dares?
This book wastes no time picking up speed, exactly seven days from where the last one stopped. We quickly see the aftermath of what transpired at the end of the last book and are kept on the edge of our seats.
'Don't keep me out of your thoughts or your fucking nightmares. Let me fight them with you. For you.'
I was so impressed with Caelian 🥵🧎♀️ His character development is everything. Raven has a storm coming at her from all angles. And for a man that doesn't understand emotions, Caelian steps the fuck up to support his Queen. It is so, so perfect. I'm officially a simp 🧎♀️🧎♀️🧎♀️
Raven also embraces her inner monster more and it's so satisfying.
The possessiveness of both of them is HOT 🥵. Caelian and Raven are the definition of 'Look at him/her and you're dead'. May the afterlife be kinder than the death either of them will bring them for looking at him/her.
We also meet more of Caelians family and learn more about them in this book. I personally fell even more in love with Caelian's mom and brothers. Lucia is such a badass; I wouldn't be against a prequel about her.
I also LOVED the tidbits we learned more about Daddy Crow. The combination of the dark mafia life and the serial killer history is fascinating.
This book was so hauntingly beautiful in the mesh of the devastating, soul crushing pain Raven is coping with and the captivating, enthralling power of Caelian's love for her.
Oh and the spice? 🔥🥵 Bar raised and tripled from the last book! Again Caelian 🤌🧎♀️🔥
I legitimately cannot stop recommending this book enough and may or may not be counting down the days until the next book in series (THAT CLIFFHANGER 😑🥺)
Twisted. Addicted. Mind Blowing. Toe Curling. Exhilarating. Just freaking perfection. I inhaled every single world. I am freaking love the Blackridge Prep. Caelian is just one of the best antiheroes I have read and I am in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was the worst. I wonder if the author was on crack while writing this.
Caelian, your gf was abducted by a serial kill*r and missing for a week, and u had the audacity to ask, "Did he f* (u mean r*pe?) you?" 🤡 — and then get mad at her as if she planned it for herself. I completely lost it there.
"Am I? A monster?" Yes, Raven, you are. Along with your psycho bf.
It’s a 3.5 and it pains me… all of those stars go to Caelian, Gabriel, Matteo, Drogo, and Lucia… because Raven?! You fucking popsicle. I’m not saying we should put our hands on people, let alone *the reminder to myself* a fucking 16/17 year old, but HOLY SHIT she needs the fucking common sense beat into her. It is *quite* obvious that Raven is horridly immature. Caelian is 7X crazier, truly, and it fucking clicked for him to not just fucking kill everyone. Raven is hypocritical to the fucking EXTREME and it shows her immaturity. “You can’t kill everyone who touches me!” *spoilers ahead******* I’m going to pull out this Glock and just fucking murder a bitch on a boat because he didn’t push her away fast enough and because I have zero situational awareness I don’t understand the importance of this woman even though I’m on a boat of mafia families and I’ve never seen this random flashy white woman with them before”. For the love. Of. Fuck. Raven. I don’t want anything to do with this infuriating child 🥹 She got Cealian shot, cunt. She put people in danger. Asshole. Caelian better be alive when I get that next copy or I’m gonna paint the town red with Raven.
I’m gonna go cry now 🥹😭 Raven’s stupidity gets a punch to the kidney 😭😭😭😭😭 CAEEELIAAAANNN.
You broke me AR 🥹😭 now put me back togetheeerrrrrr 😭😭😭😭😭
Let me start by saying I love crazy. Crazy and sneaky….crazy and wild…….crazy and high…..really any combination except crazy and TSTL!
That is what Raven was…crazy and stupid. She could be a crazy badass if she had Caelian at her back but the second she was on her own she became a whimpering mess. I have read through 2 books now where Caelian is trying to teach her control. Where the f@#$ is it!?!? There is no control! Not even a hint of progress.
I’m going to finish this series because I don’t want to quite now but I’m so bummed 🙁
~4.5 stars~ Who knew psychopaths could be so protective? Like how do they have time to protect and serial kill? It’s amazing time management skills actually
5/5✨ 2/3🔥 “𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐈 𝐝𝐨. 𝐍𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞, 𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐭’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡. 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲.” Y’all!!! THIS BOOK! Ugh, I absolutely loved it! And after that cliffhanger?! I need the third installment ASAP! I’m so addicted to these characters. I absolutely adore them. This is book two of three and picks up where book one left off. Raven had been kidnapped by a serial killer and Caelian is trying to find her. These two went through a whole slew of moments and emotions with each other in this book it was def a bit of a rollercoaster. “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰.” Caelian had me swooning so damn hard in this book yall! For somebody who is a legit psychopath, he can be VERY swoony. He’s got a way with his words. While also still being the possessive alpha we know and love. I also really enjoyed the fact that Raven is the same way. She is definitely “touch him and I’ll kill you” to a T. With all the trauma she went through, she’s got a lot to work out in this book, and she will continue to work through it in the next book.. but she’s still such a badass bitch and I love her so much. I cannot wait to see what she brings in book three! “𝐈𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐈’𝐦 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧.“ This is book two of three and cannot be read as a standalone. You must read the first book, Twisted Dares before this one.
i can’t even tell you how much I love this series. You must read twisted dares before this book as it’s not a stand-alone but MY GOSH.
where do I honestly start? it’s so dark and twisted and I absolutely love Raven and Caelian!
Caelian. That man honestly he is so so so possessive and OTT about his girl BUT so is Raven! She gives off touch him and I’ll k!ll you vibes and I am here for it, go get your man girl!
I had my theories on the person from book one and I was right yaaas.
I’m gutted for what Raven went through honestly the poor chick doesn’t get a break but she comes back stronger every motherfin time!
I also felt so bad for Cae, he hardly understands the emotions he feels for Raven but watching him lose his mind because she is going through so much killed me off.
i love them together what an unbreakable force to be reckoned with.
Aria still has some making up to do for me, but if she is gets back in my good graces I am here for her and our dude Gabriel together but ONLY if she steps the heck up, Raven gotta teach this girl to step it up.
CAELIANS MUM? That woman is who I wanna be in real freakin life what a baddy 🔥
This book hit every single spot I needed it to, but that ending and cliffy kicked me in the butt so bad I was NOT OK. I am not ok. Book 3 is gonna blow my mind I just know it.
This is an arc review but all opinions are my own.
By the end of the first book we’re left with lots of unanswered question and just when I think I know where this book was going something else happens. There’s definitely just as many twist and turns as there was in the first book.
The first book is my favourite out of the two but I still did enjoy this one aswell. Caelian was just as perfect and psychotic as he was in the first one. For me the side characters really stole the show for me. I LOVED Lucia so much in this book and I honestly would love a book on her. It so refreshing for the mum to be the tough and badass parent instead of the dad. I loved her slightly tender moments with both Raven and Aria.
As awful as I feel saying this the reason this book was 4/5 for me and not 5/5 like the last one is because of Raven. Some of her decision really annoyed and frustrated which put her in shit situations that could have been averted. I understand she’s still young although she’s gone through a lot but it’s just a pet peeve of mine in books in general when someone makes decisions that put themselves in harm when it’s just so not needed.
I honestly really do believe that these two are soulmates and made for each other. I loved how Raven was very much touch him and you die and was just as obsessed with him and he was her. I can’t wait for the next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶.5
This series is going to be the death of me I swear (in the most positive way 😂) one of my favourite series and we’ve still got one more book to go! I don’t think my heart can take it though because oh my god. I did not see that twist or ending happening! Completely took me out of the blue, swept me off my feet. I was lay in bed like ??? What happens next I need to know!!
I love that we’ve seen Raven and Caelians relationship grow and we see a slightly more humane Caelian (only towards Raven don’t worry he’s still a sociopath) even though they are completely toxic and the worst combination but I do adore them, they just make sense.
I adore Raven, I see a lot of my self in her. The emotional unpredictability, the impulsivity and just the way she’s a mess. I feel I can relate to her and that for me always makes the reading experience a lot better. The characters in this book are so well written. I loved that we got to see and learn more about the Morelli family, especially Lucia. I’m hoping there’s going to be a certain spin off story with two of the other characters, fingers crossed!!
I can’t wait to find out what happens in the third and final book and I’ll be needing all these books in physical copy because they are books I’ll be reading again!
*this is second in a trilogy, you MUST read them in order
TROPES: this is dark please check TW, both MC’s are morally grey, killer antihero, HS {please note FMC is under 18}, kidnapping {not by H}, cult
Cealian & Raven…. I love them so much. I couldn’t believe the cliffhanger in book 1, I needed more! These two sucked me in from the first book & I don’t ever wanna look back. I’m loving getting to finally see Raven start to fight back for her life & Aria’s. There is so much passion, pain, heartache & love in this book {even if they don’t fully understand how to love yet lol}.
I was happy to see the plot pick up from book 1 & I appreciated the pace of this book so much more. I never got bored or felt like it was too slow of a progression. I just wanted to know what was coming next. I also lived for all of the possessive AF scenes with these two. I was drooling because they both are so OTT J/P with each other, it’s great. It’s nice to see a FMC be able to claim her man publicly too, plus Raven always does things a little extra which I just adore the heck out of.
I’m sitting in the edge of my seat waiting for book 3, gaaahhh!!
This book picks up right from the first one, Twisted Dares. These books are not meant to be read as standalone novels. Yet, the good news is that you will fall in love with Caelian and Raven that you will have no problems reading these books. In fact, I am hooked these books are so good. These books are like potato chips, you can't stop reading!
I love that this book was giving me more of a Mafia vibe. I got to know more about Caelian's family. They are not people that I would want to piss off. Not that Raven is a saint. Together these two are like combustible flames. The more I get to know of Caelian the more I fall for him. I guess you could say that I am into psychotic maniacs. The third book can't come fast enough with another cliffhanger that A.R. Breck has left me with in this book.
A.R Breck has seriously outdone herself . I did not think it would be possible for this series to get any better but man was I so wrong . Deceitful Truths picks up right where the first book left off and to say that I was excited to once again dive into the continuation of Raven and Cealians j emotional journey would be a understatement. Deceitful Truths is Darker and more Intense. It’s raw and gritty , emotional and heartbreaking, it’s filled with so many new twists and turns , it will literally keep you on the edge of your seat anticipating what’s going to happen from one moment to the next . It’d a emotional rollercoaster that kept me up till the early morning hours because as many times as I tried to put it down I just couldn’t do it . Raven and Cealian are so beautifully flawed yet perfect together. Now to patiently wait for the third book . Violent promises.
Book 2 picks up right after the cliff-hanger of book 1. Caelian is on the warpath, hunting for Raven.
Finds himself with feelings towards something for the first time In his life and he doesn’t know how to handle those emotions except with violence. I actually really like his cold demeanour. There’s no games from him. Everything he does is calculated and controlled. Which is so opposite to Raven, where Caelian feels nothing, Raven feels everything and let’s her emotions control her. Caelian really impressed me in this book, and honestly Raven annoyed me 🤣. She was so defiant and It’s like she was trying to get herself in trouble!
I enjoyed seeing more of Caelian’s family. The Morellis are definitely badass!! Seriously, his mum is my idol 😅.
That cliff-hanger though??!! Brutal! I already can’t wait for the next book!
It's extremely and I mean, EXTREMELY hard to not get sucked right into these books. Book two starts right off where book one ended and it did not hold back. The character development in this was even better than book one, I love that we got more from the brothers and Aria. However, I didn't like that Ravens character isn't as bad ass? She is started to get feelings, which is so unlike book one.
My biggest complaint once again is that I can't believe these characters are just kids in high school. I just really wish they were older, especially with how the book ended. It seemed much older than what it was? If that makes any sense. But I'm also glad it ended the way it did, because it does make you immediately want to read book three. I'm glad I'm reading this series because there's something about it that you just become obsessed with.
I really don’t like raven, I know she likes to kill people but can she get real like why she’s beating and killing people left right and centre, there’s no need. And then when she gets pissed of when Celian like shouts at her and starts to ignore him and be angry at him like wtf everything he’s saying is true. Then at the end when she shot the women like what there’s a time and a place. And then this whole Brody shit was pissing me of like your the big bad mafia but you can’t find this one man, the only thing I liked was the aria and Gabriel tension. This book pissed me of that I had too keep reading and will read book 3 to see if raven ever gets her shit together. She just seems like a pick me but sociopath version.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
JFC Are you kidding me Breck? You may never see this review, but WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK?!
How dare you build this story to such a crescendo, and leave me with this hole in my heart. How DARE you.
If you picked up book one and made it to book two and you're hesitant to download it. Do yourself the courtesy and DOWNLOAD this b*tch. You wont regret it.
