Rescue Farm #1

Well Trained

Rate this book
JEFF:

Straight men like Andrew Pierce don’t just show up on my rescue farm with imposing intensity. They definitely don’t step right up to my desk, stand over me like a Greek god, and offer me their services.

I’ll buy whatever he’s selling, as long as I can stare up at him from this angle every day.

He’s commanding, and he’d be a perfect trainer.
For the rescue dogs—and maybe even for me.

The gravel in his voice sends me straight to my knees.
His fingers mold me into perfect passivity.
And when I see the conflict in his eyes, I know I’m in too deep.
He’s in control, and I might just love it.

ANDREW:

My visit to the farm was supposed to be a quick sale—until I meet Jeff. When he lifts his eager eyes up to me, I want to get unprofessional. Out of line. Bossy.

Will I train the dogs on his farm every day?
No problem.
Will I put Jeff in his place every night?
It’s all I can think about.

I have a business to run, and a willing man to tease.
The two may collide, but it might be worth it.

This is the first book in the Rescue Farm series. It can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

The beginning of a new series, this time in an animal rescue center
Jeff and his friends run an animal rescue center and Andrew will offer his IT services and end up training dogs
Jeff has a huge tax debt and is about to lose everything and among all the guys, they try to find ways to get to pay the debt as the attraction between Jeff and Andrew increases
It wasn't one of the best books of this author much due to MCs who have no attitudes of 30-year-old men
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. This was bad. Jeff acted like he was a teenager. Andrew was a little better but man, lack of communication on this level bugs me.

Tried to be kinky. Failed.

I won’t be continuing the series.

This was a low-angst story about the MCs trying to save a rescue farm. I really liked Andrew, he was smart and practical, Jeff not so much. They were so different too, it was hard to picture them together. My favorites were the dogs at the farm, especially a big one called Bear. I might continue the series. Jeff runs the rescue farm with two friends and I assume the next books are about them.

This was a very fun read and a great start to a new series! I really enjoyed Jeff and Andrew and their story, they are a really great pair and I love what they created for the rescued animals! Definitely a fun start and I'm already looking forward to more in this series.

Jeff inherited some land and has decided to start an animal rescue, his heart is in the very best place but sometimes his mind gets a little scattered and he's not always great at making plans for his big ideas. Just at the right time, Andrew, a local IT business owner, pays a visit to Jeff's rescue hoping to get some new business. There seems to be an immediate connection, and not just between Andrew and Jeff, but also rescue dog, Bear! With Jeff's rescue in danger, it seems like Andrew can help in more ways than one and it seems their relationship is headed for more than business partners. (and that includes Bear)

I thought this was a sweet and fun read! Andrew and Jeff are two very different men with very different ways of doing things, but together they just work! These guys, along with the rescue, seem to have to work through a lot to get to the happy, but they do, they don't give up. I also loved the animals in this book, it was a fun addition, along with Matt and Derek and I'm hoping we get their stories too. I loved rooting for the romance between Jeff and Andrew along with the rescue center and animals and it just made my heart happy!

Great story, almost ready to go to go adopt a pet. Jeff opened a rescue center with his good friends Derek and Matt. He received a tax bill due within a month that stated his property would be seized for back taxes if the bill was not paid in full. The concept is fun. Matt and Derek, while secondary characters, were not deep characters even though they were equal partners. Jeff, while full of enthusiasm and energy, did not seem to have much of a business sense. Andrew owns an IT company and shows up at the center and is drawn in by the animals and Jeff. He stays and becomes an asset. The road jto happy for man and pets is definitely not bumpy and there's a few potholes on the way. Can Jeff meet his tax obligations? Can Andrew provide a good IT solution? Will the pets thrive? Bear is an absolute peach! Mr Collins usually hits it out of the park for me, but Jeff's business model was an absolute turn off for me. I couldn't get past his lack of planning. Bear picked me up. Nice story. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fun, light-hearted, low-angst story that will leave the reader all warm and cuddly. Jeff has inherited land and opened an animal rescue shelter. When Andrew stops by one day to solicit web design business, there are immediate sparks between the two. Andrew shows a propensity toward dog training and later volunteers to work part-time at the shelter. As the two men get to know each other, they learn that they are very different. Money issues and a threat to the land compound their challenges. Can the love these two share overcome the obstacles? This book is well-researched into the operation of an animal rescue. The passion and interactions between the MCs is powerful. Very pleasant reading!

Sweet

It's not you its me. This story was just too sugary for me. Two gorgeous men meet, instantly the skies open, angels sing, and a rainbow floats across the sky. Oh and did I mention they're also animal lovers? The animal rescue farm is in deep financial trouble! Oh my what to do? Also a bad man wants to buy the property! I know we'll put on a show err I mean an auction. Everything was so sweet I had to go to the dentist after reading this book. Even the sex was boringly sweet. Of course there's a HEA. Everything was tied up in a nice bow wrapped around a candy cane. If sweetness and light is your thing you'll love this story. Otherwise I hope you have a good dental plan.

Jeff cannot help but rescue every dog! He had inherited the farm and of course turned it into a rescue, but then got in over his head as there was an also the issue of back taxes! Poor Jeff really did need Andrew's help! in more ways than one! Andrew who is actually an IT kind of guy ended up loving and being a natural with dogs! Sweet story told in both of their POVs, and I loved that that saving the rescue really was the focus!! Although these guys do go from working together, becoming friends and then they give in to become to lovers!!! I received an ARC and I recommend for the dogs and two very different guys mutual love of saving the dogs bringing them together!

A wonderful love story with drama, cuddly fur babies and everything at risk but love the greatest gamble - ready to read yet?

Enterpenuer Andrew of IT business he knows what it takes to run a successful business but having a life outside of work that's a challenge. Jeff who lives with risk & luck sure ends up following his dreams and passion. The owner of a rescue farm has a temporary home for fur babies until they arrive in their forever home. Don't miss the plot within a plot keeps you on your toes. I enjoyed this story. Next book released 3Jan22 so worth grabbing that one next. MM Romance.

I haven’t seen anyone do the phone number written on the hand in a long while. It is cute and flirty, but numbers are exchanged on cellphones. That a business owner did it to another business owner was unprofessional. A tax bill like the one in this book would probably be in the thousands. If people in this rural area are anonymously dumping their unwanted pets, who do the shelter owners think are going to pay adoption fees for a dog they could probably get for free? They would have to rehome a lot of dogs in the thirty days until the tax bill is due. These unrealistic details are taking me out of the story. This will probably be a DNF book for me.

Great start to a new series!

Great start to a new series. I loved Jeff and Andrew. The characters felt realistic and their relationship had its ups and downs since this was an opposites attract story, and these two come from completely opposite backgrounds and experiences. I loved that they had the love of the rescue and helping it succeed in common. I also loved Jeff's friends, Matt and Derek, that help run the rescue. I look forward to see who they get paired up with.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Dog Rescue

Well Trained started out a little slow for me but by the time Andrew came to the farm I was fully in love with Jeff! Talk about total opposites! These two are so attracted to each other, but both are thinking about how to help the dogs find forever homes. With Andrew donating his spare time teaching the dogs to be better mannered so they can be adopted, Jeff is helping his two partners keep the rescue running.
With a big tax bill due, it's all paws on deck to find great homes, raise awareness and money and find love.
A sweet low angst romance!

Jeff is a bit of a scatterbrain but he has the biggest heart. He needs Andrew and his detail-oriented personality to keep him from big problems. Andrew is obviously a caretaker and he doesn’t expect anything in return. He’s a successful businessman but takes some serious time out of his schedule to help Jeff and the rescue. They have to work at meshing their likes and get past some big hurdles as they are so very different. I liked that they worked through things and came out stronger.

Jeff is a optimist but he is a very hard worker. Andrew has a detail-oriented personality and is an IT business owner. Andrew stops by Jeff's new Animal Rescue to try helping with designing a website and adding security and ends up working part time for Jeff, he also finds that he is attracted to Jeff. Even though it is a new business that is run on a shoestring you come away with the feeling that the animals are top priority. Sparks fly and the old buzzard gets his come-upins in the end!

I expected better.

I usually like Jason Collins work, but this was disappointing. I really didn’t care for either lead character. They didn’t seem well matched even in an opposites attract situation. It may claim to be HEA, but I predict a break up in less than a year.
If this had been the first book I read from the author, it would have been the last. Give him a second chance. He can do much better.

I think that Well Trained was a good beginning to Jason's new book series. I liked the story line with the rescue dogs and the characters. The characters had a good friendship and the couple had great chemistry. I enjoyed Jason's scene descriptions. He manages to entertain me with both cute and romantic scenes.
I received this as an arc and freely left this review.

So close to 4 1/2 stars

I really liked this book. The story was lovely the characters were good and the steamy scenes were great too it just felt like there was something missing. Not sure what exactly but there was just something. I'm not giving up though I shall read some other books by the author and see what happens!

Not my favorite.

With the way the summary was written, I was expecting to see some kink here, but we didn’t get anything out of the ordinary. It was actually pretty vanilla.

Not sure why the author made it seem different than it was.

I also just didn’t really connect with the characters and didn’t think they had much chemistry.

Though I loved the animal rescue setting!

must love animals

Firstly, This is a well written book. Characters are well formed and written.
The book is real life not one of these high end massive guns blazing etc. but just normal everyday people and their problems. It was nice to read, easy and had a great storyline.

It was..

It was just ok not great. If it wasn't for the animals might have been even more lacking. I never really felt the chemistry of these two and it was all very quick or time line was not mentioned..

Nice storyline, but simplistic.

The premise of the story is interesting, and not a bad read.
I found quite a bit of it very unlikely to occur in the real world.
The IRS does not handle property taxes is a example.

The opposites attract trope was kind of thrown at us out of the blue. Most things were great, until everything they liked was opposite, and the other guy was really bothered. It wasn't like "we like different things, that's fine, let's talk about it".

This book isn't for me. I just don't want to know this much about the day-to-day of running an animal shelter, nor about IT, which was the other POV. :(

Well Trained is well crafted. The characters are memorable and delightful and hot. There's just the right amount of angst. Sweet read.
