Mafia Bride #3

Beloved Bride

Rate this book
Is almost losing everything enough to change a man?

My husband is about to lose everything he’s worked so hard to keep.

His empire.

His daughter.

Me.

I can’t love a man who does the things that Viktor does. I can’t belong to him, not in the way I want to. It doesn’t matter what he’s awakened in me, or how much I crave him. How much my heart wants him.

Or at least, that’s what I tell myself.

But the danger Viktor poses to my heart isn’t all we’re facing. Alexei is coming. For me, for Sofia, for Ana, to wipe out the men of the three families and take it all for himself. If he takes me, I know that Viktor won’t rest until he saves me. But what I want more than anything is for Viktor to save himself.

I want him to become the man that I know he can be—so that I can become everything I long to be for him.

His lover.

His wife.

His beloved bride.

Warning

This series is full of excitement and unpredictability. But for the third book I think the warnings given by the writers weren't enough. You should warn readers about “rape”

Throughout the story, I feel the most pity for cat. It seemed that fate was not on her side at all. She had a difficult childhood being a mafia princess She was taught to accept and fulfill her duties, marry and have children, not caring about feelings. She was disappointed by her first marriage. Husband physically abused her. Later, after the death of the first husband She was forced to marry her second husband, Viktor. even though she did not want to marry but had to do it otherwise there would be bloodshed. After that, married life was not good. When she finds her husband doing the unacceptable thing is to sell the woman. Her relationship with Viktor It's just a marriage for convenience. He only needed a male heir and a mother for two daughters.

If you think cat's fate is bad No... Her fate was worse. When she was kidnapped and tortured for the first time But if you think this is bad No...the writer hasn't stopped tormenting the character Cat

🚨 spoilers.🚨

She was captured and raped by Alexei. I couldn't believe that Cat was such an unlucky character. She never did anything wrong If it's wrong, it's probably because she was born as a Mafia princess. and married a Russian mafia boss

I am very disappointed While reading it, I prayed that she would not be raped. 'Cause I feel like it's too much More than Cat deserves.

She was tortured, she was raped, she was broken, but the writers tried to show that Cat was strong. But in reality, to me, the situation forced Cat's character to be stronger. In fact, she wasn't that strong.

And I'm most disappointed. When the three Mafia Viktor, Liam and Luca fail to defeat Alexei. Let women and children be taken away They seemed to be useless. no connection especially Viktor I felt his reaction was slow. Sometimes I think he's not enthusiastic. He kept thinking in his head. What do he think of Cat? How would he like to help her? how important she is How much do he want to kill Alexei? But that's just an idea. but the opposite action

I honestly admit that all three books were fun. But after the incident that Cat was raped I feel like the world is falling apart I feel it too and pity her the most I think she deserves a better life. including better men

And the ending is a bit too short. I think there should be a scene with Viktor and Cat. better understand each other Not just a love confession And Viktor is ready to change. after a traumatic event Everything seemed too easy. no lecture expand on each character or feeling I think it's quite unfortunate.

predictable, boring, bad guy beats supposed “good guys” for a couple chapters, sophia is still an annoying little brainwashed sheep, viktor is the scum of the earth, not surprised cat ended up with him even though she deserved much better. their so called love popped up out of nowhere. why is it so damn hard for mafia authors to give us a strong heroine to break the chains and cycle, literally almost every book is the same.

Good read!

This could have A 5* read but sits firmly at a 3.
It was a good read but time and time again these powerful mafia bosses are betrayed and outsmarted by people they trusted.
This is the final book in Viktor & Caterina's Mafia Bride series. It's a love story in its own way. I felt compassion towards Caterina in the Promise Trilogy but she brought a bit too much drama for my liking in the Mafia Bride Trilogy. She was extremely indecisive and I often times felt like I had whiplash from the mixed signals she gave Viktor. I understand her reasoning to an extent behind her fighting for others freedom but then the next minute she's giving into to Victor's every command.
There were so many great aspects of this book, Viktor being at the top of the list, that I definitely recommend the read.
I'm looking forward to Ana's book, Irish Savior.

well ok

I’m still not convinced by this trilogy and that ending paves the way for Ana’s story but I didn’t get the closure I thought I would.

A lot was resolved but I didn’t care much for a lot of it. Cat’s hot and cold got old for me. And Viktor’s stubbornness to see why what he’s doing was wrong didn’t make much sense. I also feel that drama was created for the sake of filling this 3rd book and went a bit too far in some aspects.

I skimmed a lot here so maybe I missed the best parts. Who knows. I just don’t care enough in the end sadly.

3.5 overall rating. The main reason for the reduction in my overall rating was the confusing sequence of events beginning with Catarina's abduction; which results in life-long scars and injuries to her body only to be thrust into self-defense training and then engages in rough sex in a matter of a few months. No discussion of the mental trauma, physical pain or need for medication once the story moves on.

This series has been enjoyable at times and agonizing and frustrating at other times. I thought by book three that Viktor would finally come around but it literally takes the downfall of his bratva as well as everything he has worked for and tried to protect, aka (family and Catarina) before he finally gets it. Geez....slow to the uptake Viktor! This series has plenty of bloodlust, torture, BDSM and kink with characters you love to hate throughout the series. The slow burn love story is torturous at times, but has plenty of sex/lust for readers. Viktor's character is a mixture of good and evil who is constantly fighting his inner demons; which has resulted in his character being unable to become the leader he is meant to be because he is "bathed" in the ways of his predecessors, i.e, father and gf. Catarina helps him to see and understand that there are different ways to run his Bratva that doesn't include the sex trade.

Catarina's character is reduced to a sex-crazed pool of goo, who craves Viktor's punishments and BDSM more than she ever imagined! After everything this woman has been through, that theme did not set with me. I envisioned a sexual, erotic, lust driven romance, not another chapter from "Fifty Shades of Gray". The author turned her into another boring submissive Bratva wife only to....bam; do a complete about-face. It got tedious trying to keep up with her character changes. So much drama surrounds this couple who are clearly different but who manage to find a relationship neither of them would admit too in the ashes of an out of control forest fire. The amount of times her character thought or said that her only fate was to become a bride in an arranged marriage was enough to make me start skipping dialogue because it was tooooo repetitious. I normally enjoy character dialogue and encourage it because you get to understand what the character is thinking, but some of this ranting and raving dialogue was like watching a person have a mental breakdown over and over again.

The end of this novel is very graphic (reader beware) with lots of torture for the women in this series as well as their captors. By books' end I was shaking my head and thinking "how much chaos, torture, rape, can one woman be put through? All's well that ends well for our characters (accept Ana) with Viktor and Catarina finding middle ground and admitting their love for one another. This series was a tortuous love story that deserved a happy ending but wasn't the easiest trilogy to get the through.

ugh, disappointing when I wanted it to be so good

How many bad things does one women have to endure? I can get behind enemies to lovers, I can get behind the tough life of mafia, but I can’t get behind this book. Should have been 2 books instead of three, drawn out story of a paranoid woman who can’t talk to her husband, wants to change him and bad, horrible stuff keeps happening. With the gut punch at the end of the last book, why couldn’t they have some peace and get their acts together in this book rather than more trauma. I wanted so much for this book and was disappointed. My two cents, others may love.

Caterina really went through it in this trilogy. In the first quarter of this book, she was really annoying. Victor's business was disgusting and I'm glad she stood against it but at some point it felt like it stopped being just about what he was doing but also about the fact that she was benefiting from it by living a rich life. If felt like virtue signaling.

The stuff that happened with Alexei was dark and definitely should have had a more explicit trigger warning.

This wasn't my favorite book in the trilogy, but I'm glad Caterina got her happy ending. Hopefully Ana will get hers as well.

3.5 stars.

horrible and completely unbelievable

The heroine gives her self to her captor and her husband is ok with and they sleep together right after. So over the top bs. It was ridiculous and to much violence and not needed. No love sorry.

Absolutely Loved!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I loved this series! Cat got on my nerves at times with how she acted. She couldn’t get out of her own head, she was raised a mafia princess, she knows what men in her world are like. But yet she acted so clueless at times.
I really did enjoy the series though, and the chemistry between Cat & Vicktor was hot. I just wish he could’ve been more open with her earlier on in the book.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

conclusion

M. James has written another great addition to this inter connected story. Caterina and Viktor go into an arranged marriage with their eyes open. What they are not prepared for is their world to come down around them and they have to fight for all they know. There are many triggers and violence is a lot and may not be for everyone.

I gave this two stars, would've been 5 stars if this story was edited to one decent book and the fluff and fillers were removed.

Frustratingly great!

I really liked this trilogy but there were things that annoyed and frustrated me. One obviously there is a story before this series with Luca and Sophia that I missed so I recommend reading that first since a lot of the first book and other parts in this series refers to events that happened before and obviously during Luca and Sophia’s books. Had I known, I would have started there. Next I really, really liked viktor! I can’t really say the same for cat. He showed her repeatedly that he was different with her and he gave her so many chances and still she acted like a spoiled brat. All she cared about was being loved and wanting real love but yet she was blinded with it right in her face. She became jealous of Sophia and Luca but had that same love with viktor if only she would just open her eyes and stop being so dumb. She repeatedly sabotaged herself to the point that it just got annoying and after awhile really made me dislike her. She refused to be happy for anything and when she allowed herself a glimpse she would immediately shut down afterwards and revert back to the I can’t let myself do this again crap. Another things was she constantly talked about what she was born for, knowing her role when she was married, her mother prepping her for a life as a wife and yet she had a problem with all of that with viktor and was hostile with him from the night of her wedding. She semi redeems herself about half way through with her strength and how she tries to protect everybody but still up until the end she is unlikeable and very self absorbed and immature! Still a great plot and the story just gets better as it unfolds. I just really wish the female h was better suited for viktor and the story!

Sadly disappointing and uninteresting. Chapter after chapter the story is stagnant, most often filled with the same narrative repeated over...and over...and over - like it was cut and pasted.

Caterina was born and raised a mafia princess well aware of the mafia ways, crimes, and her duties. Yet she CONSTANTLY whines to herself about the same things (like a broken record), complains, and makes unreasonable demands that she won't have sex with Viktor, her newly married Russian Mafia Boss husband, throughout all three books in this series.
Frustrated and growing angry, I finally started scanning past all those repetitive narrative paragraphs, sometimes whole chapters, looking for anything new developing in the story where I could continue reading again.

I was generous with my 3-star rating. I started to wonder if the author's beta readers were either too few, too personal, or had limited knowledge/experience reading mafia crime, dark/disturbed romance genres therefore unable or uncomfortable to give the author more honest/helpful feedback. I'd want my beta readers to favor this genre for a long time and read many of the best and most popular of these books. It's early yet, the number of book ratings and reviews for all her releases are still very low, time will tell. I think she has great potential.

I read (and love) lots of mafia crime, dark romance, adult, erotic stories. IMO, the story and character development in this book and series were lacking.

Alright, it’s done. I made it to the end. I rated the previous two books both with 3 uncertain stars. I’m solid on the 2 stars here. 2 because I do enjoy the authors style of writing but she still failed to redeem an irredeemable man. This isn’t surprising to me but it’s disappointing.

The H tries to justify his human trafficking throughout all 3 books. Right up until his wife and children are kidnapped by HUMAN TRAFFICKERS. His own defected men. As I warily predicted his long suffering wife paid the price for his grossness. She’d already been beaten and tortured because of him in book 2 and now she’s raped, repeatedly by his former brigadier who intends to sell her and his children.

Of course, this finally prompts his change of heart. Too little, too late. Now he finally realizes he can still trade skin but he’s going to do with prostitution of willing women. Too bad that didn’t occur to him before his wife was raped. If the author wanted to give him what he deserved let him get sold into sexual slavery to learn his lesson. Ugh.

Nasty story.

This is the third in a mini series. The 'hero' is a sex trafficker, member of the Mob and all round Nice guy. Not.
The heroine is forced into marriage with him, undergoes many experiences, including torture and rape. Add in a pregnant woman who gets beaten, a child who gets shot, and you have the makings of a very nasty experience. I am. No prude, but I won't be reading this author again.

Honey, I got to tell you, you don't even know what you're writing about. The story could be good, with a decent plot, but this needs some serious editing and adjusting. Caterina gets 'raped' by Alexei, and one of her thoughts is 'he was a surprisingly boring lay'?! That's not rape in my book. A real rape victim would NEVER think that, not in a million years.

Triggers: kidnapping, drugging, skin trade, violence, rape,

FMC: Cat
MMC: VikTor

Plot:

VikTor finds cat who is almost dead. She’s got cuts scars and bruising all over. He has his family (daughters, nanny, ppl who live with him and workers) brought to Russia to protect them. One of his men has rebelled against him and started killing anyone loyal to VikTor. VikTor sallies from the Italian and Irish mafia join him at his Russian fortress. In the mean time cat and VikTor try to overcome the kidnapping. They immediately screw each other which to me seems highly improbable and ridiculous. Seriously who thinks about sex when someone is that brutalized. Cat was stated to hardly be able to move but then things get from bad to worse when another attack at their Russian fortress happens. This one injures one of VikTor s daughters and she needs surgery. Again it’s very improbable and way OTT. But regardless VikTor rival ends up taking down all of the mafia bosses and kidnaps their women and children to potentially sell. Cat is raped multiple times again after she’s kidnapped yet again. This after her initial kidnapping where she was stabbed multiple times with a knife wound. He lets the men live and eventually they come save their women folk.

This series had a lot of potential but was very rushed and OTT. My review for book 2 & 3 is blended.

I’m happy I stuck with this series because it does “end well.” Book #3 is the most stressful book in the series, and it does deal with disturbing content, so definitely read the trigger warnings beforehand if you plan on reading it.

That saying, I’m happy Viktor finally saw the light. The fact that it took so long to see why his job is absolutely unforgivable is mind boggling. Like you’re a grown man. You have kids, daughter’s at that. Seriously use your brain as to why what you do is wrong.

Everyone knows a man who only started viewing women as people AFTER they had a daughter. That’s Viktor, but it still took him YEARS after the birth of his kids and death of his first wife to learn this lesson! He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.

The book was entertaining, very spicy and easy to breeze through.

Random thoughts while reading :

-Viktor is truly bad at his job, especially for a career criminal! Why stay in the same “safe house” after you were already attacked in once? At that point, it is no longer a safe house.

-What happened to Caterina’s training? There was all this talk of her learning to fight and use a gun, and she had like one session.

-What happened to everyone at the party? I feel like that was a time to get rid of everyone situation.

I LOVED IT!

I loved this ending. At times it got pretty intense. When Cat give Viktor the ultimatum I thought she was crazy because just when things were starting to become so good between them, but then again I can see where Cat was coming from. My heart was breaking for the Anika and Yelena. Those two have been through so much in there short lives and then to be kidnapped and exposed to the dark side of Viktor's business brought tears to my eyes. At times things got so intense I was bouncing in my seat trying to read faster. I get so excited when things get so intense I just get jittery. Lol. I thought the ending was almost perfect. I would've loved for the girls to have been a part of Caterina's and Viktor's final proclamation of love to each other but it was still a great ending to their story. I can't wait to see what's to come in Ana's story. I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND THIS TRILOGY TO EVERYONE.

will we make it through this

Catering can’t deal with Viktor’s livelihood! Being born a Mafia princess, she should have been taught to keep her mouth shut. Her idea of giving her husband an ultimatum is beyond stupid. Viktor could have Exiled her from his life, never be seen or heard from again. But when Catarina, his daughters and other friends wives get kidnapped by an ex-employee. Viktor and this friends save them all. Viktor kills Alexis, piece by piece, which he deserved. Caterina let her husband love her. Viktor finally understand about why Caterina hates his profession. He decides to change that, but he doesn’t have any idea to what it will be. And he finds out the Caterina is having his baby.

Good Book

This is book 3 of 3 so must be read in order.
I will say that parts of this series I didn’t like especially the human trafficking aspect and what Alexi and others did to the women in the book.
I know that human trafficking isn’t supposed to be nice but what Alexi did was just despicable.
I do like the stage scene with Viktor, Cat, Sasha, Levin, Liam & Max that was very good.
Catarina did annoy me again in this book with the back and forth and I get it’s hard to trust but she was just very annoying at times.
I would have liked to have seen more with their kids at the end and even both calling her Mama just to end their HEA a little better for me.
I will wait for Liam & Ana’s story next.
