With help from his old flame, Taylor gets a spot on the rescue team and heads to sub-Saharan Africa, where he must face hostile warlords and an even more hostile rescue team, all while finding out what Northbridge is hiding. If he fails, more than the lives of hostages hang in the balance.

A break from the formula
The John Taylor books are a fun series, but as a detective thriller series you can expect investigation with high stakes and occasional action. Book 8 breaks from the formula, but in an enjoyable way. I was a little unsure about the “home front” story thread, but it paid off in the end. Another fun book in the series.

I waited until I finished the series before I wrote a review and I have to say,this is one of the best series I've come across in several years.Some of it is fairly predictable but it still has a good narrative and a realistic MC.Get started and enjoy. I did

Five Stars
Another great book. I have read all eight of the John Taylor books in order and have enjoyed each and every one of them. As always, lots of action and thoughtful use of tactics and military skills. I will now read the next book in the series, Designated Target. A big thank you to the author, Travis Starnes, and from me another well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.
