The Nephilim: Kings of an Epic Age: Secrets and Enigmas of the Sumerians and Akkadians

Rate this book
THE NEPHILIM, KINGS OF AN EPIC AGE , is a pioneering work tracking down the story of the enigmatic scions of the gods or Nephilim in ancient Middle Eastern tradition. Commencing with the most ancient strata of traditions of Sumer and Egypt, the focus falls on the earliest known and perhaps greatest of heroic ages, the Epic Age of great Sumerian kings like Gilgamesh and mighty Akkadian god-kings who ruled over the ends of the known world. Their epic traditions, which include some of the greatest legends and myths our world has seen, are brought to life in an unprecedented way. THE NEPHILIM also explores their secret doctrine. Although many authors have written about the strange world of the ancients, this work explores the secrets and enigmas specifically associated with the Sumerians and the Akkadians, something that has never been done before. The author’s newly published chronology for the ancient Middle Eastern world, dramatically confirmed by the recent discovery of an important cuneiform text, is utilised to shed new light on many gaps in our knowledge and to unlock those mysteries. Also investigated and studied is the relationship between the Sumero-Akkadian and the Israelite, Persian, Indian and Egyptian traditions as well as the history of religion. Readers intrigued by the ancient world and all its marvels will find this work truly fascinating and absolutely worth the read.

Excellent resource in researching (and a great deal of the research is already done in this thorough exceptionally well written book) on linking the varied myths, histories, and cultures existing in 2500/3000 BC to each other. This is not a pick up and read i want to only know about fallen angels book. This is a serious, informative and must have tool in understanding how we all do have a common history, a multi cultural heritage of explaining our origins, (in addition to the origins of the nephlim). I read this on Kindle, I have serious intentions of buying this book in paper to keep as a learning resource. A must have for those seeking resolution to the fact, all of our prehistory stories are relatively more similar than not.

Ten out of ten! Epic! Huge! Simply not to be missed!

THE NEPHILIM, KINGS OF AN EPIC AGE absolutely took me by surprise! This book is groundbreaking work in the true sense of the word, a must read for the expert as well as the layman, for anyone remotely interested not only in the ancient world and all its wonders, secrets and enigmas but also in religion and its development over the centuries.

What makes this book different from other books on the subject is that the author, in my opinion, did something that has never been done before, namely to stear away from popular and often misguided ideas about the Nephilim by presenting well researched facts and well founded arguments and theories so as to determine how the ancient people of Sumer, Akkad, Egypt, Canaan and Israel thought about the Nephilim, the scions of the gods, as well as their speculative theology about the cosmos, the stars and planets, the gods, the demi-gods and the Nephilim and how it all fits together. In the process, surprising new discoveries are made and light are shed on unexplored gaps in our knowledge about those people and those times. Not only is a connection drawn between the Sumerian tradition and the Egyptian, Persian and Indian traditions but the fascinating relationship and connection between the ancient Middle Eastern world and the Bible that would eventually follow is also looked into.

This book comes highly recommended as far as I am concerned. I can hardly wait for the second book in the series to be published!

The Nephilim offers an incredible dive into ancient Sumerian and Akkadian history which pushed mankind from living within society to civilization and eventually falling into imperialism. McLoud does an amazing job explaining who the Nephilim were and why such ancient texts like the book of Genesis refer to them the way they do. He explains that what we now refer to as Shamanism played a major role in the evolution of the religion and government of ancient Sumer and Akkad, and elements of which have spread all throughout the world. The deep level of information that McLoud provides is fascinating and never lost my attention.

For the cons, I would say there were a couple occasions where I would disagree with something he said, but it was minor and not directly necessary for the material. For instance, McLoud did not know how to interpret the long ages of the anti-diluvial kings in the Sumerian King list, but it has been clearly established that the ages given were in sexagesimal -as was common in Sumer- with the last two digits representing a fraction of a whole, which converts precisely to the decimal ages remembered by the Semitic people and recorded in the book of Genesis more precisely than the rounded sexagesimal numbers recorded by the Sumerians. Which refutes his claim that Genesis came from the Sumerian texts, since it is impossible to get precise numbers from rounded numbers, but easy to get rounded numbers from precise number.

Overall, I loved the book and I am eagerly looking forward to the next installment in The Nephilim series.

Dr. McLoud definitely published a pioneering work that is destined to become the academic go to resource for information regarding the Nephilim. Beautifully written, it covers the mythology of the fallen gods and takes the reader on a journey along a golden path that starts with the fallen ones, covers the descendants of the sun god, the fellowship of the shining ones, the god kings and ends with the celestial code deciphered. It is a must read for anyone interested in the Nephilim bloodlines and I can guarantee that the reader will be drawn back to reading it again and again. I was amazed at the sheer magnitude of new information justifying a continuous review of this extremely valuable content! Enjoy fellow travellers on the path….

A very readable academic quality book. The author is very well dug into the academic world about which he writes, and supports his arguments with lots of references. He utilises both primary as well as secondary sources to give the reader a glimpse into the speculative theology of ancient Summer, Akkad and Egypt. His theory about the origin of the nefelim actually makes academic sense. You will be disappointed if, however, you expected a story about ancient aliens and the like. He is a published scholar and this is evident in his book. I enjoyed this thoroughly and heartedly recommend the work for those who want to engage with the ancient world on a deeper level...

Many books that delve into esoterica has dubious sources, running away with wild claims and spurious conspiracies! You will not find any of these in Dr. Willem McLoud's book. Combining his own personal experience with contemporary academic research and well-written narratives of the ancients makes this book a compelling and thought-provoking read. This book clearly introduces Sumerian theology and history in light of their times, expanding into the esoteric traditions that deeply influenced world history.
