The Saga of Spy X13
It is 1965, the war between India and Pakistan has begun. Pokey and Burp are two students placed together as roommates in a boarding school called Saint Ferdinand, which is situated near the Indian side of the border.

The story is set in the 1965 war between India and Pakistan near the border of Ferozepur and their adventure of meeting. The protagonists of the story are two students named Pokey and Burb of Saint Ferdinand School. They form a strong bond with each other. One day they receive a mysterious note signed as Spy X13, giving them various missions to achieve. It turned their lives topsy-turvy.
The language of the book is quite attractive. The narration is impressive. The choice of sentences is comfortable for all types of readers. The cover page of the book speaks much about the storyline and plot of the book it very wisely depicts the plot of the story.
You might like to wander through a few artistic journals — they’re full of sparks and surprises.

The discipline of the school will soon be broken followed by a war when the two quiet introverts, seemingly uninteresting students receives notes from the enigmatic Spy X13. Years later when these two friends meet again and reminisce about the past, dangerous secrets come tumbling out.
Blend of past and present this book is a thrilling ride to school days fun and adventures. A gripping tale of history amalgamated with little bit of fiction. An engaging storyline with well thought out plots. This book has a mixture of funny mischievous childhood and on serious note some concerning situations regarding boarding schools and education. Written in simple lucid language but I did stumble upon quite a few new and interesting words, the author has really played well with words.
Most of the book comprises very light-hearted conversation but at places the narration is a bit woody making it more like dialogue delivery than normal conversation. Most remarkable thing is the details put into the book with utmost care. Characters are very interesting and have a nice sketch to them, development of characters is evident. It's a refreshing read no doubt.

Wow, looking at the title it surely seems like a disguised agent's story who must be serving his nation. Well, it's not literally same but it's definitely more interesting one.
Pokey and Burp, they were sent to a boarding school by their families. They both were just frightened little kids at the first look but they were getting better and being habituated to the strict atmosphere. It was the year of 1965 when the war was going on between India and Pakistan.
Then Burp suddenly started getting some tasks via chits from a stranger called Spy X13. And mind this, they were not easy tasks. They exposed some secrets and punished the headboy.
The past and present scenarios made the story more interesting. When years later, they both met with their families, some hilarious stories were told about his college life by Pokey. I laughed out loud reading them.
They talked about Spy X13 and their deeds in school. Burp was curious about who was this spy and Pokey exposed to him with good logic. But is Pokey is telling the truth? Who was the real Spy X13? Umm, I can't say it of course so just read the book to get to know.
Overall, I enjoyed this suspense and entertaining ride. The characters are well built. The language is lucid. The narration was fast paced. This was a different storyline compared to the general ones, but i liked it. If you like suspense thriller and different plot, go for it!

Whenever I find my mind wandering ,I usually pick a thriller as there is no other genre that can hold my attention for that long except a well crafted psychological mystery. Hence during the fag end of the year I decided to pick this book and it indeed turns out to be a riveting read.
The story is built on the backdrop of 1965 Indo-Pak war. The protagonists Burb and Pokey use to be friends in school. Their childhood was very disciplined as the formar education they took was in an institution that is known for its utmost strictness. One fine day they find a note from some Spy X13 where they are expected to complete some mission. Fast forward to the present day they have clear memories of their past and are determined to tread on the same path to unravel the secret.
The plot of the novel is undoubtedly intriguing. The language used is reader friendly. Though due to consistent mismatch in the timelines it does become a tad confusing at times. Also the thrill factor is a bit missing . How the war affects the lives of individuals is nicely presented.
Overall a nice one time read.

The Saga of Spy X13 is the latest book by Deepak Rosh, the author of Raja of Nowhere & published by Kalamos Literary Services. The story is set in the backdrop of 1965 India-Pakistan war & it revolves around two friends Burp and Pokey and their time at their boarding school, Saint Ferdinand, Kapurthala. Struggling to fit in, Pokey gets into a fight with a senior for which he gets caned by Father George & the loneliness along with this trauma stayed with him. Burp being his roommate slowly becomes his friend & as things were starting to get a little bit smooth, they find a note that has been signed by a certain Spy X13 where they have been asked to fulfill some ‘missions’.
As they meet again after several years & reminisce about the past, they come across this mysterious memory of theirs regarding Spy X13 but what they actually discover is something to look out for. With such easy language this book surely is a quick read that one can finish in a day or two. The author has amalgamated several events and made a concoction which shouldn’t be missed, I appreciate the fact that he has indeed highlighted what used to happen or maybe still happens under the garb of being a ‘strict’ school. The book is based on past and present. The past and present in the book is greatly described because sometimes it becomes difficult for us to understand but the author narrated the story in a smooth way.

'The Saga Of Spy X13', is a perfect blend of thriller and suspense. The novel surrounds two guys, Pokey and Burp. Set in 1965, Pokey is the son of a local police chief and hence with all riches around he turns out to be a spoiled brat. As India and Pakistan's war is on the verge, Pokey's dad sends him to Saint Ferdinand Boarding & his life takes turn as he meets his roommate Burp. Both Pokey and Burp develop a beautiful bond & became best of friends. The main twist happens in the story when, Burp receives a letter from a Spy X13 & Burp with Pokey as his assistant is all set to accomplish the mission.
With simple and amazing plot, this novel turned out to be a riveting one. I, personally, have loved the way the author has portrayed Pokey's and Burp's friendship and the way they solve all the mysteries. It's definitely a must-read.

This is a fictional plot based on political and thriller genre. Inspired by the war is 1965 between India and Pakistan. Our protagonists named Pokey and Burp are two students received a note by a Spy X 13. And then the plot grips on and an interesting tale full of thrill and mysteries is penned down. It's a well paced plot with detailed characters and scenarios in the book.
The narration is kept simple and easy yet the author has maintained to pen down an interesting tale. The characters involved in the book are potraited well and each has been given sufficient scope to contribute to the plot. The language used is lucid.

I have always been a fan of shows like The Spy, 24, and have been reading many books on espionage. But this one is different.
With such an awesome story and amazing elements, the author has done remarkable work.
And I genuinely believe that it's a must-read for you all.

📕What it's about?
The story starts with Pokey, a ten-year-old boy living the life of his dreams.
Pokey is the son of the local police chief and a very loving child. So, he's the prince of his area.
He gets whatever he wants, toys, clothes, anything. Also, with a cool attitude and a liveliness nature, Pokey's the hero of his class too.
Now, everything's going well. He has lots of friends, caring people until that day.....
Due to the overlove and ignorance of his parents, he has been very poor in studies, plus it was the time of 1965.
India was on the verge of war with Pakistan and it could have started any time.
So, his father sends him to a boarding school called Saint Ferdinand, run by Spanish priests.
At first, Poeky had the impression of it as a big, badass school with lots of fun activities but very soon he meets his worse nightmare.
The school is nowhere near to his expectations, it's cruel, following weird rules, the beating of students is normal, and whatnot.
As expected Poeky couldn't take the toll.
And finally, an incident throws him into depression.
But Josh! The Padres fearing his father let him go. They shift him to a new room and give him some freedom.
Here he meets Burp, his new roommate.
Burp's condition is worse. It seems like he isn't alive anymore.
So, for the initial few days, they didn't talk much but soon realize that they are on the same boat.
And from here their friendship starts.
Both Burp and Poeky are the most introverted kids and losers in everyone's eyes.
However, it's just an illusion! In reality, they are much more smart and wonderful than anyone could ever think.
This becomes clear as their friendship grows.
With each passing day, they start loving life and gain confidence, and now comes the twist......
Burp gets a series of letters from a mysterious Spy X13, who asks for his help.
He says that war could happen anytime and Burp has to help him uncover the traitors inside the school.
At first, it seems a prank but soon it becomes clear that this is all true and many lives are at stake.
Burp asks Poeky to be his partner and soon starts working on the assigned missions.
Here something magical happens. The seemingly looser kids now have a purpose and show great courage, smartness.

1️⃣. First of all the concept of it is very impressive.
With such a mind-blowing story and important messages, our author has done an amazing job.
It's for all those who doubt themselves, facing the fear of rejection, the pain of not having someone to talk to.
Many aspects of life and our inner hustle are mentioned in it.
This book is what we call Awesomeeee.
2️⃣. And the way it's been written is absolutely wonderful.
Every character, their backstories, the emotions, everything is mentioned beautifully.
As I went on reading it, the story became more engaging page by page. And two instances moved me the most:-
• First was the part where the atrocities, and pain Burp and Poeky went through were mentioned.
That sudden increase in heartbeat, that feeling of weight on your shoulders when people make fun of you or when they blame you.
The feelings of helplessness, fear, broken confidence. It felt all very real. (I almost cried)
• Second was the suspense where the Spy X13 revealed himself.
Man! It was Outstanding, literally!
3️⃣. However the best thing about this book is the messages it conveys. Hat's off to the author for portraying so many serious issues in such an impactful manner.
Plus, those awesome life lessons are like a cherry on top of the cake!

Hi! guys, would you like to read a book full of action, adventure, love, and outstanding suspense?
Or, are you a fan of espionage movies like Naam Sabana, Raazi?
If Yes, then this one is for You!
It's one of the best thrillers I have ever read. The motivational story, the amazing life lessons, all these things are just WOW.
So....
The story starts with Poeky, he is going to meet his friend Burp after long 55 years. Their friendship goes back to the time of the 1965 Indo-Pak war. But it all seems like yesterday.
Poeky belonged to a well-to-do family. His father was the police chief of Ferozepur. And as obvious, Poeky had this sense of being a "Prince" of the town.
But things changed when his father found out about his grades.
Though he was just ten years old but still he was far behind in studies than his classmates.
Also, there was speculation that tough times were coming, as Pak was crossing limits every day.
So, he sent Poeky to a boarding school called "Saint Ferdinand".
The place was cold as hell!! And very soon it became clear to Poeky that it wasn't for him.
Initially, he tried to adjust but then something happened which almost broke him. The authorities got scared and shifted Poeky to a new room.
Here he met Burp, his roommate who was even more depressed than him.
Soon these two guys became friends and started wandering like dead physiques. They lost all hope of improvement and joy.
It was like never-ending darkness for them.
But....here comes the twist. Someone mysterious contacted them and said that there are traitors inside the school.
The country is on the verge of war and they have to uncover the Pak spies.
Despite knowing the risk, Burp and Poeky accepted the responsibility and showed never seen smartness and courage.
The mysterious person was Spy X13. He assigned them various tasks and..
Now, all of a sudden they became the hidden heroes.
But...oh no! The school was going to get bombarded.
Poeky is out and Burp.. Burp was alone. Here comes the enemy air force.....

Well, reading it was indeed a lifelong experience!
The story is great and the way it's been written is even better.
I mean, unlike normal espionage thrillers, the author has chosen two kids as the main protagonist. And with that, he has shared so many life lessons in it as well!
Plus, the engaging way of writing adds an additional joy to the overall reading.
And that suspense. Man! It was mind-blowing
Guys, the part where I got to know the true identity of Spy X13 was really cool.
Hat's off to the author for such wonderful work.
However, the main USP of it is the messages and lessons it shares.
Some of them are:-
• Creepiness doesn't differentiate between ages, genders. So it's better to give your child sex education.
• Self-doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.
• A strong purpose and self-belief can make you invincible
• If you think something is important enough then do it even if the odds are against you
• What you see as trouble might be a hidden gift from almighty
• Nothing comes above the nation, so never back down from your duty, etc.
And much more....

It's one of the best thrillers I have ever read. The motivational story, the amazing life lessons, all these things are just WOW.
So....
The story starts with Poeky, he is going to meet his friend Burp after long 55 years. Their friendship goes back to the time of the 1965 Indo-Pak war. But it all seems like yesterday.
Poeky belonged to a well-to-do family. His father was the police chief of Ferozepur. And as obvious, Poeky had this sense of being a "Prince" of the town.
But things changed when his father found out about his grades.
Though he was just ten years old but still he was far behind in studies than his classmates.
Also, there was speculation that tough times were coming, as Pak was crossing limits every day.
So, he sent Poeky to a boarding school called "Saint Ferdinand".
The place was cold as hell!! And very soon it became clear to Poeky that it wasn't for him.
Initially, he tried to adjust but then something happened which almost broke him. The authorities got scared and shifted Poeky to a new room.
Here he met Burp, his roommate who was even more depressed than him.
Soon these two guys became friends and started wandering like dead physiques. They lost all hope of improvement and joy.
It was like never-ending darkness for them.
But....here comes the twist. Someone mysterious contacted them and said that there are traitors inside the school.
The country is on the verge of war and they have to uncover the Pak spies.
Despite knowing the risk, Burp and Poeky accepted the responsibility and showed never seen smartness and courage.
The mysterious person was Spy X13. He assigned them various tasks and..
Now, all of a sudden they became the hidden heroes.
But...oh no! The school was going to get bombarded.
Poeky is out and Burp.. Burp was alone. Here comes the enemy air force.....

Well, reading it was indeed a lifelong experience!
The story is great and the way it's been written is even better.
I mean, unlike normal espionage thrillers, the author has chosen two kids as the main protagonist. And with that, he has shared so many life lessons in it as well!
Plus, the engaging way of writing adds an additional joy to the overall reading.
And that suspense. Man! It was mind-blowing
Guys, the part where I got to know the true identity of Spy X13 was really cool.
Hat's off to the author for such wonderful work.
However, the main USP of it is the messages and lessons it shares.
Some of them are:-
• Creepiness doesn't differentiate between ages, genders. So it's better to give your child sex education.
• Self-doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.
• A strong purpose and self-belief can make you invincible
• If you think something is important enough then do it even if the odds are against you
• What you see as trouble might be a hidden gift from almighty
• Nothing comes above the nation, so never back down from your duty, etc.
And much more....

This back story sheds a lot of light into these two main characters, it reveals about their shy and introvert nature, who were struggling to set into the environment of the school.
🛩️This was also the period of the 1965's Indo - Pak war, so there were situations of chaos and tensions all across the country. All of a sudden in the middle of all this, Burp started receiving anonymous letter from the name entitled as "Spy X13". According to the letters, there were some tasks assigned to them. Being roommates, Burp also associated Pokey for carrying out these missions. And this series continues further and they went on rampaging several missions one after the other.
🤔Okay, let's talk about some sence here. Isn't it unbelievably strange? Why would some unknown person preferably choose to send letters to Burp only? And why would he keep performing the assigned tasks? Who was this anonymous character designated as "Spy X 13"?
❓And what's up with the school's norms and disciplinaries? How on earth, some outsider is doing all this?

The Saga of Spy X13 is a tale of two men reminiscing their school days and how they rebelled against corporal punishment culture of the past.
Even though that's the gist of it, the book is indeed a roller coaster. Especially the last 2 chapters. The author's narration is so strong that one cannot help but turn page after page until you get to the last one. I've rarely come across such a gripping plot and storyline.
The book perfectly presents the author's understanding of human nature and psychology through the character of Pokey which was my personal favorite. Even though I relate more with the character of Burp, I'd rather be someone like Pokey.This unique tale alternates between the past and the present. Each character in the plot has been skillfully created and depicted. The novel is a definite page-turner due to the author’s method of revealing each scene with those exciting missions and it’s the road to completion. Although the text moves quickly, you won’t find any less description or frame drops. It’s beautifully told, maintaining its momentum through the last page.Rumours of presence of spies were spread all over.But students like our protagonist were much worried about the oppression on them.The air around the campus was adventurous for some and fearsome for others.How does the introverts like Burp and Pokey overcome these issues??.How did they do that??
Well the answer to these questions are funny and interestingly described over the pages.I found it funny just because you probably will never run a school so close to the border or near any place that is too much affected by wars and disputes.
It was set in 1960s, when the Indo-Pak War was going on, which has taken some major role in the story!
Childish thrills are prominent.
The plot drifts in between, but it's a complete Page Turner.
Simple language and single POV. Sentimental super short, suspense thriller.
A total mind game.

I have been finding out with regards to spies for a significant time now and I am happy that consistently I have this extraordinary time with every one of the accounts. In this story, I have discovered oddity too alongside a famous storyline.
The story begins with the perspective of Pokey who is meeting his closest companion Burp after everything checks out and them summarizing their secondary school days is all the story contains. They used to remain in perhaps the most focused school St. Ferdinand's lodging and unexpectedly they were flat mates as well. From complete aliens to discovering the two of them are thoughtful people, from battling similar difficulties in school to getting a secret out of nowhere to determine some way or another identified with Spy X13 they went on a long excursion together and turned out to be closest companions. The story is set in 1965 it shows the timetable where the conflict between India and Pakistan occurred. How this is identified with their lives and what the secret was about are the things you will become more acquainted with subsequent to jumping into the story.
The story addressing a few courses of events and associating assortments of episodes to the existences of these children made it exceptionally engaging. The plots couldn't have been set in a superior manner. How the creator kept up with the leap between the two courses of events in his portrayal is commendable. It certainly was a quick-moving read brimming with undertakings so it was holding enough to finish it in one go. Pokey was considerably more in the story than Burp while the story was similarly about both of their childhoods so Burp's part might have been added more. Unrolling the genuine secret was very fascinating and unmistakable. Generally, I lived it up completing the story and definitely denoting this as a recommendable one.

They studied together and were roomates in the boarding school Saint Ferdinand which is located near the Beas river in the erstwhile princely state of Kapurthala, near the Indian side of the border.
This school was administered by a sect of Padres who firmly believed in physical punishment to correct all shortcomings. Any infringement of rules produced severe punitive response for everyone.
Pokey and Burp were 5th graders. The seniors were doing concussion acts against their juniors beating, thrashing wantedly that made them stressed and were not regular in school activities. They were given tablets as therapy and it's side effects made them fugue like stage because of ingoing crisis.
One fine day Burp and Pokey received a letter from SPY X13 with some tasks to be done. They were excited and did the task whatever the SPY X13 has assigned them. Major part is indo pak war was going on and these kids were vehemently doing the task🤗. They were dubious about the spy.
Who was the SPY X13 ? Why he has assigned tasks and chosen pokey and burb to accomplish? Is he/she a Pakistani spy?

I appreciate the author for his wonderful work. Such a thrilling book which makes you engross to know what's next until the end😍. The character depictions and narrations were awesome which makes this a gripping book. The bond between Raghav, burp and Pokey were lovable ❤️. I finished in a single day 😍. It's a fast paced thriller which will never leave you boring😀. Each scenes and missions revelations make this a best page turner😍.

The character depictions and narrations were awesome which makes this a gripping book. The bond between Raghav, burp and Pokey were lovable ❤️. I finished in a single day 😍. It's a fast paced thriller which will never leave you boring😀. Each scenes and missions revelations make this a best page turner😍.

A really good book for beginners easy language and a very interesting story. Stories with a hint of political chaos was something I'm not that familiar with but I'm happy gave it a try and it turned out to be good, loved the character development and kudos to the design and title. Loved the characters they were relatable the book's concepts are ahead of its time.
A little bit about the book, In 1965, the war between India and Pakistan had begun. Pokey and Burp were two students who were placed together as roommates in a boarding school called Saint Ferdinand, which was situated near the Indian side of the border. Burp was a Pakistani student and Pokey was an Indian student. However, they got along well and were able to cooperate in order to survive the war.
Both 5th-grade boys seem to be struggling with their adjustment to school, until they receive a note from a mysterious "Spy X 13." This prompts the two boys to start acting out and having fun, to the dismay of their teachers. The war is getting closer, and things are starting to unravel.
Years later, Pokey and Burp met again. As they reminisced about their time in St. Ferdinand, they discovered that they had shared some dangerous secrets. Burp had been working with the pirates, and Pokey had been smuggling goods for the king. The two of them had been through a lot together, and they were glad to have each other back.
Shamim Noor is the self-styled detective who is determined to find the truth. She is always on the lookout for clues that can help her solve the mysteries surrounding her life. 🎀This book is one of the most thrilling book I've read recently. The way author has presented this story is really very applaudable. Along with amazing characterization, he has written the plot with alot of detailing for each and every aspect of the story. As this book is a thriller book, there are many twists and turns all around the book, and it'll keep you hooked till the end. Language & narration of the story is also too good.🎀

That help was much needed for spy as it will help him find the traitors and help all of em from the mess which was ongoing. So they've agreed to do the help. Continuosly many days they keep getting many letters from the Spy asking them to do many different things, and just bcz of following those things both boys created a massive mess in the school. On background, the war was taking peak and disaster was following the war. After many Years later, Pokey and Burp meet again. And many dangerous secrets came out as they discuss those things that happened to them.✨

I have been reading about spies for quite a time now and I am glad that always I have this great time with each of the stories. In this story, I have found novelty too along with an eminent storyline.
The story starts with the view of Pokey who is meeting his best friend Burp when the time is ripe and them recapitulating their high school days is all the story contains. They used to stay in one of the most disciplined schools St. Ferdinand’s hostel and incidentally they were roommates too. From complete strangers to finding out they both are introverts, from fighting the same challenges in school to receiving a mystery all of a sudden to resolve somehow related to Spy X13 they went on a long journey together and became best friends. The story being set in 1965 it shows the timeline where the war between India and Pakistan took place. How this is related to their lives and what the mystery was all about are the things you will get to know after diving into the story.
The story representing several timelines and connecting varieties of incidents to the lives of these kids made it very engrossing. The plots couldn’t have been placed in a better way. How the author maintained the jump between the two timelines in his narration is praiseworthy. It definitely was a fast-paced read full of adventures so it was gripping enough to complete it in one go. Pokey was much more in the story than Burp whereas the story was equally about both of their childhoods so Burp’s part could have been added more. Unrolling the actual mystery was quite interesting and distinctive. Overall I had a great time finishing the story and surely marking this as a recommendable one.

If you have ever lived in a hostel then you must know the adventure it involves. This book will take you to a journey where you can relive your childhood days.
Pokey and burp(Bal Ravinder pal) were meeting after a good long time of approximately 50 years. They were roomates during their school life in St.Ferdinand School Kapurthala Punjab 1964. Both of them were introverts and were facing difficulty in adjusting to the strict hostel Life initially. Pokey had a very comfortable life as his father was a local police chief in Ferozepur.He had all the luxuries of life and was favourite kid of everyone in his school. Therefore a sudden shift in life was uncalled for him.Burp was also forcibly sent to this school by his parents and hence he also behaved like a zombie. Being bullied by seniors and ignored by school management were two major areas of problem in their lives. However gradually things improved and so their friendship.
This was also the time of India Pakistan war 1965 so the feeling of anxiety and fear was all around. In the middle of all this hustle and bustle Burp began to receive some random notes from a person called Spy X13 with some task to perform every time. This is where the story actually starts to form a grip . Who is this Spy and what are the tasks? Read the book and experience the magical feeling of mystery and excitement.
It's a short read of about 150 pages and captures the essence of 1960's beautifully. The friendship of Pokey and Burp and how they perform every task is the USP of the book. Climax is a little off the track however overall it's an amazing read.

Flashback and we are in the time where the two were students and roommates of boarding school called Saint Ferdinand.
They bonded over their common circumstances where they had each other to deal with the difficulties of the boarding life and the bullying.
The reunion rekindled their memories of the bravest and adventurous time of their life. It was during the 1965 war between India and Pakistan when one day they received a note from Spy X13.
This note led them to secretly accomplish tasks and do quite risky things without being caught or revealing the identity of Spy X13.
These flashbacks made these memories clear and the actual secret behind everything that happened even clearer and they were utterly shocked.
But what was the secret?
Did they finally figure out who was Spy X13?
What is the relativity of their actions and the war?
This is my 4th book from this author and I'm amazed by his spectrum and hold on writing. Really enjoyed this book too. A very well set plot with good amount of drama, Life like events, humour and excitement.

Gripping.....
THE SAGA OF SPY X13 by author Deepak Rosha is an outstanding mystery novel.....the story begins with the reunion of two old school friends Pokey and Burp....they are meeting after a longtime and reminisces their school days .....the plot is set in the backdrop of 1965 during Indo-Pak war and hence it gives the glimpse of some historic events like Nazi's Concentration Camps etc in a very unique way.....
Pokey and Burp are the protagonist in the story.... they both are students of the same school St. Ferdinand in Kapurthala, Gujrat.... they began sharing the same room in the hostel....both Pokey and Burp were introvert by nature and this similarity made them good friends.....one day Burp received a note from a SPY X13 who had assigned them a mission.....
What is the Mission...?
Will they be able to complete the Mission....?
Here, the story becomes more adventurous and gripping....the story will hook you with its amazing twist and turns throughout.....l found it very interesting to discover the connection between Pokey and the war....
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can't resist myself from finishing it in one go.....the storyline is fast paced and beautifully narrated.....the characters are very well potrayed and felt real....the language is kept simple and lucid....
