Ember McNair-Jamison is a witch recently married to Sheriff Cedric Jamison, a wolf shifter who can no longer remember his wife. Kara Dennings got her conviction overturned on the grounds of temporary insanity and has been released from prison and returned to town. Ember was outraged. Then Kara and James Connor had an argument when he saw her and threatened her. No one, of course, wanted her here, and when her dead body is found in the parking lot outside of Ember’s café, things don’t look good.
As Ember searches for Kara Dennings’ killer among many suspects, she is trying to find out what happened to Cedric. Why are his memories of her missing? Who is responsible? Does it have anything to do with the murder? And is there any way to restore his memories?
Once again, there is so much going on here to be figured out. The mystery will capture the reader and pile on the excitement as Ember follows the clues, with a personal stake in the outcome this time! The characters are well-portrayed, and the story line is fast-paced and intriguing! Grab your copy and see if any good will come out of this upsetting situation.
When Kara Dennings is released from prison, the town is not happy. Especially James Connor. But when she is found dead in her car outside of Ember's Pub things really get interesting. Then to top everything off, someone has removed Cedric's memory of Ember. He has no idea who she is. Ember is heartbroken over this. She finds out that Beulah, Cassandra's sister is in town with the wrestling group. Big Tabacco is the manager of the wrestlers and he isn't just a manager, he too has some magic to him. But who erased Cedric's mind and can they get it back while trying to find a murderer? Will Cedric let Ember help him as she'd done in the past? Can they find the murderer? What kind of future lays ahead for Cedric and Ember? I personally would have given this a five-star rating except it is a 'cliffhanger' and I don't like those. There should be a disclaimer in the story that this is a cliff hanger. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ember and Cedric got married at the end of the last book. Finally married she hopes for a peaceful time for the two of them, but almost immediately there is another body and, returning from the crime scene, Cedric has no memory of Ember left. Confused and scared about this situation, Ember tries her usual ways to figure out who the killer was and who cursed Cedric and why. A story with more on the line than usual, as Cedric does not know what to do with a wife he cannot remember and therefore has no feelings for, while trying to solve a crime. Nor is he happy with Ember's unconventional ways. A multi-faceted story that lead to wrong clues, sometimes to funny encounters, sometimes to a fight. Engagingly written, this book keeps the reader on their toes for most of its story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
