Back to Graves Glen for some more witchy-fun 🤩
And, this time we have another warning is in place: ‘Trust me, magic that seems like a little bit of fun and not all that serious can very easily blow up in your faces.’ 🪄
Gwyn, who is often described as a ‘tornado disguised as a beautiful woman’, is perfectly content with her life in Graves Glen. She has her mum and her cousin, Vivi. She runs the family store, ‘Something Wicked’, which is a successful witchcraft shop. As Halloween approaches, things inevitably get busier in Graves Glen. However, they take an unexpected 180 when Wells, Rhys’s brother arrives in town… ✨
Wells runs a pub back in Wales. However, with his country pub dying and no real reason to stick around, Wells decided he needed a change of scenery and so he up and left to go back and join his brother, Rhys, in a small town in Georgia. He was determined to carve out a space for himself in what was originally his family’s own town. Even if that meant squeezing Gwyn Jones out.
I loved being submerged back in the world of Graves glen and all the wonderful witching found there. However, there was a slight shift in perspective…First time around we had Vivi and Rhys, this time the MFC is Gwyn and the MMC is Wells. But despite this shift, I was very happy to see lots of action from Vivi and Rhys.
When Wells arrives, he very quickly opens up a shop of his own, Penhallow's, right across the street from Something Wicked! He should have known this was going to cause trouble…or maybe he wanted a little bit of fun trouble? he soon learns that he's gotten more than he bargained for in going up against Gwyn. And, what starts out as a bickering match quickly turns into a very unprofessional, yet extremely enjoyable - and very hot - kiss. Of course, Gwyn blames it on the magic ✨
“It was a magicked kiss. Love spell magic, Vivi!” 💋 - the best kind of kiss 😉 However, Vivi, being so knowledgeable about many magical curses, quickly reminds Gwyn that ‘While the idea of a love spell has loomed large in popular culture, such magic is nearly impossible to pull off unless both subjects feel a mutual pull toward one another.’ And the kiss only happened because she WANTED it to happen 🤭
I thoroughly enjoyed this haters to lovers romance ❤️🔥 it was different from Vivi and Rhys’s love story but had all the same vibes…cheeky, fun and, of course, magical ✨ “I want all of you, too,” he told her. “The powerful witch and the woman who loves nothing better than to take the piss out of me when I deserve it. The woman who inspires loyalty in talking cats and Baby Witches and everyone she meets because her heart is the only thing more impressive than her magic. I want you, Gwyn Jones.”
However, at 60% through the book there was actually very little storyline, aside from their slow burning romance and I was starting to get a bit bored…it needed SOMETHING to come and save the storyline…
And with that, cue: witches on broomsticks 🧙♀️🧹🪄✨ a mysterious new coven of witches comes to town to save the day, brining plenty of drama to the story! With Gwyn’s powers fading, being under the mercy of the coven, and some unfortunate circumstances close to home…can she and Wells work out how save the town before it’s too late? ⏰
Erin’s pacing was perhaps slightly slow but when she brought the material, she REALLY brought it and it was highly entertaining! Saying that, I did prefer the plot of the first book and think it was generally a stronger book. Let’s see what the final book in this unique ,witchy, trilogy brings… ✨
