Rate this book
She's 54, broken-hearted, and starting over....

High-powered New York attorney Ava Flynn finds herself without a job or a future. Unemployable at her age, and broken-hearted by a husband who left her in the lurch, she desperately needs a Plan B. Her prayers are answered when a wealthy benefactor wills her a large house in the 'Sconset Beach area of Nantucket. She heads out to the picturesque New England island with her two best friends, Luna and Mila, going along for the ride.

One catch...her estranged daughter also lives there. Charlotte Killeen, Ava's daughter, is battling a crisis of her own. Her new husband, Matthew, wants a divorce, even though the couple have a newborn baby. Charlotte needs her mother more than ever, but the two have never seen eye to eye. Her marriage on the rocks and with few prospects for income, Charlotte is near the end of her rope. Then a life-threatening illness brings into focus what's important after all.

Ava's other daughter, Samantha, also lives on Nantucket Island, with her best friend and roommate, Grayson. Samantha suffers from a lack of direction in her life, and longs to meet a rich prince charming who will sweep her off her feet. When she meets the man of her dreams, she's leaving behind the one man who loves her unconditionally - Grayson.

Jackson, Ava's son, is an aspiring actor in Hollywood. Everything has always come easy to him, that is until Willow, Matthew's cousin, shows up. Free-spirited Willow is just the kind of girl to break Jackson's heart, which is difficult to do, as Jackson is always the heartbreaker.

And speaking of Willow...she's a feminist island witch and artist. She and Jackson have been through many, many lifetimes together. Yet, Willow wants nothing to do with Jackson in this lifetime. She has no desire to give up even an ounce of her power, not even for her soul mate. Willow also is hiding a devastating secret from Jackson. A secret that is guaranteed to upend his life for good.

Mila, Ava's best friend, is battling a devastating illness, information that she hasn't shared with Ava and Luna. She never wants to be a burden, so she just doesn't ask for help. But she's going to need all the support she can get. She finds this support in a very surprising place, and, in doing so, gets closer to her own destiny.

Ava busies herself with fixing up her beautiful new beach home, so that she can open up a bed and breakfast. Contractor Deacon Cromwell, whom Ava hires to do the renovation, is the man who might thaw Ava's cold heart, if only she'll let him. However, he's almost 20 years her junior and, Ava believes, out of her league. Can Ava overcome her insecurities and allow herself to love again?

In this feel-good beach read with a touch of magick, Ava and her friends and family will become your best friends. Come and share their joys and heartbreaks, their tragedies and triumphs. For fans of Susan Mallery, Jude Devereaux Nantucket Bride series and Elin Hilderbrand!

Complete waste of money and brain cells. This book was marketed to Elin Hildebrand fans. This book does not compare at all. The storyline flawed, the dialogue flat and forced. The characters had no depth. Absolutely terrible

The first quarter of the book was not too bad. I loved that the characters were older professional women who shared a strong hand of friendship. Ava seemed a relatable character who longs for change in her life. Hallie and Quinn are also strong independent women. As the book progressed the author branched into too many side stories that were joy needed. There was too much descriptive scenes and paranormal characters. It was just too much. I feel the story could have done better if it continued to focus on the three friends.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and should not influence anyone in regards to the book.

Great beach read and perfect for a snow day! I couldn't put this book down! I'm excited to see what the series does and where it goes! I loved all the characters and their stories. Through hardship, trials, tribulations, and triumphs! It only took me 9 days to read this! I've never read anything by this author before and am very pleased with what I got!

Finally getting around to catching up on my older ARCS. I really enjoyed this beach read. The first in a series of 8 and my first from this Author. A saga told from the main protagonist POV and about her life and friends and family and how she starts to rebuild her life with them all after adversary in all aspects of her life. I look forward to the rest of the series. Thank you to Netgalley, and the Author Ainsley Keaton for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a surprising delight. I chose the book from Kindle Unlimited because my Bingo card for the Library needed a book with a cover in my favorite color. It turned out to be a great story. Characters were well developed. I love stories that show the bonds of friendship between women. Which is another spot on my Bingo card. So please excuse me while I download the next book in this series do I can read #2. Then I might have to read #3 because there is a spot to fill with a book about a place you would like to visit & Nantucket is certainly on my list!

I tried to like this book. I really did. I was attracted to the novel because its protagonist is a female attorney, and so am I. So I thought I could relate. I couldn't.

The plot just isn't believable. There's no way on earth an attorney -- a high-powered, experienced female tax attorney, like this character -- would let her husband withdraw all her life savings from a joint bank account when he leaves her and then do nothing. That's just not believable. But our protagonist, Ava, just resigns herself to it.

There's also no way a professional, experienced attorney would tell off an important firm client, even if she did have a death wish to get fired. It just doesn't happen. And why wasn't she a partner after she spent so many years at her firm anyway?

In addition to the unbelievable plot line, the book is filled with grammatical errors, spelling errors (magick instead of magic/Sidney, Australia instead of Sydney) and cliches ("Denial wasn't just a river in Egypt," really?). Plus there are way too many references to TV shows and to Sex and the City in particular. Don't compare characters to Carrie and Miranda; show, don't tell.

I know a lot of people read this book and seems to have given it good reviews, but it just didn't work for me -- although it did convince me that if this author can write a book and sell it, so can I.

I kept hoping this book would have interesting/engaging characters. They were predictable throughout the book. I will not be ordering the others in the series.

I really was excited for this book. A great premise, characters about my age that I could relate to and an opening chapter that really engaged me. Then the story spiraled out of control. Ava, the main character, is fired from her job as a defense attorney for wealthy clients and learns of an inheritance- a house in Nantucket. Her excitement of the inheritance wanes as she learns of the stipulations, one being she may not sell it for a certain amount of time. Ava then decides to turn it into an upscale bed and breakfast. Thus Ava and her two friends Quinn and Hallie find themselves headed to Nantucket and change for each of them.
This story had so much potential but it seemed that the author couldn't decide where the focus of the story needed to be. Knowing that this is to be book one of seven I think Keaton tried to introduce every character set for the series and give us their full history. Too much going on in one book and never really knowing who the book was supposed to be about. A little disappointed.
I appreciate the opportunity from NetGalley to read and review the book. All opinions are mine.

I picked this book out of Prime Reading, which appeared to be my kind of book. I love the beach, and though I'm not a woman in her 50s, I still wanted to give this book a shot. But my Lord, where do I begin with my problems from this book? The characters grated me, especially the main character and her two best friends. Ava gives me massive not like other girls vibes, and these women are once again supposed to be in their 50s. I couldn't get into the plot or the writing; these characters sounded strange to me as they used random metaphors that were out of left field. The info-dumping about these characters made me question if any of this information would even matter and dragged the story out for no reason. There's a line early on in the book that draws a comparison to 9/11 out of all things; this is where I knew I was in for a treat.

Review:
The Nantucket Beachfront Inn" by Ainsley Keaton

My Opinion:

'The Nantucket Beachfront Inn' was quite a story of how 54-year-old Ava Flynn had been a Manhatten Lawyer. It seems as though Ava's life was going badly for her... as her first husband dies, leaving her with three children, her second husband leave-taking money from her, then losing her job. However, Ava gets a life-changing gift when a former client bequeathed her a large mansion in Nantucket. That did give her a fresh start where she would pick up her life and start a new endeavor as a Nantucket inn owner. Ava's two best friends, Quinn and Hallie, come with her and help her move in as she decides to make this mansion into bed and breakfast. There will be many issues along this journey.

As the story continues, Ava's three children will appear, which will bring some havoc with them in one form or another. One of the daughters is not getting along with her husband and has come with her daughter...[the granddaughter] to stay at the mansion. Ava's sons me from the L.A. area to help her move. Ava's mom [Sairse] I in the picture too. Oh, and by the end o the story, the second child Sam comes into the picture. Just one powerful family dynamic will come into play and have one shake their heads.

Along with all of that, there will be a healing witch that will come into the story. So now I will stop here, and you will have to pick up the good read and see how well the author brings it all out to the reader.

There will be many characters that will come in the story to fit this all together. So be ready for a read that will have a lot going on that you will have to keep up. Some you will like more than some others!

Be ready for a story that isn't only about Ava, her inheritance, her friends, family, and healing witch, but will leave us wanting more as the story end in a cliffhanger where we will be left wanting more. From whom will this be?... Deacon, Samantha, Quinn, Jackson all lay at the feet of Ava.

Thank NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

Ainsley Keaton lives by a beach with the love of her life and her two fur babies, Annie and Bella. She writes heartwarming fiction that focuses on universal concepts like forgiveness, loyalty, redemption, love, reconciliation, and family value, both biological and chosen. Her themes are realistic - getting older, starting over, mother-daughter relationships, adult children issues, schisms between family members, sibling rivalry, overcoming adversity, and dealing with insecurities. If you like your beach fiction with a lot of humor, spice, and a touch of magic, you'll love Ainsley's books!

"Live and learn."

Ava was recently fired from the job she’s had for 23 years. Her husband stole all her savings and abandoned her. She’s estranged from one of her daughters and has a difficult relationship with her powerful mother. When a surprise presents itself, Ava finds a new opportunity in her lap. Maybe her life is about to begin truly.

This was not my typical read. On the one hand, I found how this book was written was truly clever, as it served as an introduction for the remainder of the series. On the other hand, it felt like things were rushed, and a lot happened that didn’t necessarily make sense.

There were elements of this novel that I found truly beautiful. I love that there were older women (in their 50’s) navigating their lives. But I also felt as though these women were described as old, and 50 isn’t old by today's standards.

Several characters, and I didn’t feel they were fully developed. There are six other books on this series, so I am thinking this book was simply to introduce the players and insert some drama.

There were elements of this story that I think weakened the plot, which makes me sad because this could have been a beautiful story of redemption, forgiveness, family, and friendship.

I don’t think I will be continuing the series; I didn’t feel engaged with the plot. I wanted to like this story, but it wasn’t for me.

I enjoyed this book and getting to know the main characters. It was a bit overdone on the "self-analysis" but I tended to skim over those parts! Looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Amazon synopsis (not a short one!)
She heads out to the picturesque New England island with her two best friends, Quinn and Hallie, going along for the ride.

Hallie is at her own crossroads. She has a dead marriage, a daughter who won't speak to her because she smothers her, and no life to speak of. She has a drinking issue and an unhappiness issue as well. She's also dealing with menopause symptoms that are literally keeping her awake. She feels that her life is over for her, but the island, and a beautiful young psychic named Willow, show her that her life is just beginning.

Sarah, Ava's long-lost sister, is heading out to the island as well. Sarah was the beautiful golden girl who's always had a charmed life. She was the cheerleader and homecoming queen in high school, the gorgeous cool kid that Ava never was. She was the paramour of a globe-trotting billionaire who never had to lift a finger to do much of anything. But looks are deceiving. At the moment, Ava hasn't spoken to Sarah in over 20 years.

Nobody can break your heart like your sister, because nobody knows you better. Can Ava and Sarah make amends after so much hurt and heartbreak between the two?

Ava busies herself with fixing up her beautiful new beach home, so that she can open up the bed and breakfast.

⭐⭐⭐💫 (rounding up for ratings)

Have I said before that I hate the genre called #womensfiction? Smh. I really hate the name. This book is not really a romance though there is a little of that. Its definitely not a mystery or any other type of genre. So it gets lumped into women's fiction.

So this book is about a 50+ woman who is questioning working for a law firm who is not as ethical as she would like. Then she gets bequeathed a piece of property by an old client. This woman has 20 something triplets and 2 best friends. The book is about all of those relationships.

The POV changes from chapter to chapter. But the book is not told in first person as most POV changing books are. But you do get a better sense of each of the characters from their chapters. As I stated in my hashtag in the beginning, this is the beginning of a 7 book series. It was enjoyable enough as a stand alone but I think this book would be better read as the full series. Bc this book is told from 6 different POVs, it feels like it's just the intro to a full story. Not the full story itself. That is why the low-ish rating.

Quick, easy reading. If I have the chance, I'll read the rest of her books. I'd love to see the rest of their stories. I'm all about the different relationships. I love a character driven story.

I need a Nantucket Island in my life! I love these stories of women of a certain age finding the strength to start over when life deals them a bad hand. It gives me hope for when I'm their age in another decade or so! Granted, the chances of someone bequeathing me a house on an island are nil, but a girl can dream, right?

It's a story about friendship, sisterhood, mother-daughter relationships, finding your inner strength in the face of adversity, starting over, and the pursuit of true love. There's a lot going on here, but relationships are always complicated. And not everything is going to perfectly work out with all loose ends neatly tied up. The ladies come a long way, but still have a few things to work out.

Ava is the center of this wheel and her friends and family members are the spokes radiating out from her. She is the reason that all of their lives are so intertwined. The different characters and generations have some similar issues and I think are learning from each other as they work through their problems with each other. It's hard to get specific without giving away too much of the plot.

Watching them grow and evolve and learn was actually rather inspirational and I may have to take a page out of some of their books. I can feel that there is a lot more to come in their stories and am happy to see that a whole series is planned for them. I look forward to them.

I received a requested review copy from Goddess Fish and the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the story of Ava Flynn, a female who is a high powered attorney. She had worked for the same firm for 24 years when she finally decided enough was enough and spoke up about how she felt towards one of the firms best clients, who took pride in not paying taxes. As a result of speaking her mind she looses her job, even though she isn't the only one who feels the way she does.

Ava now finds herself single, almost out of money and needing to find a job. She has three kids who are now living their lives on their own away from her. So while trying to decide what to do she gets a call from an attorney, and this call could be exactly what she needs. The attorney works for a former client of Ava's who she had become friends with over the years of working together. This client has passed away and has left Ava her house on Nantucket Island.

Although this was an entertaining story I struggled with all the many other stories that were happening inside this story. I liked that Ava took this opportunity to reinvent herself. I did enjoy the book as a whole. It was entertaining and kept my attention. It is definitely one that I would recommend to my friends.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ava's 53 and her life isn't going well. She's the widowed mother of triplets and her second husband has hit the road (along with a lot of her savings). And then there's the matter of her job. She hates it, but needs the high salary to support her NYC lifestyle.
Ava manages to get herself fired, and is not having much luck finding a new position. When, suddenly, she learns that a fairy godfather/former client has left her a $7 million house on Sconset Beach in Nantucket, with some conditions attached.
It's nice to read a book about a successful single "older" woman and I actually liked the beginning of the book about her work and NYC life. There were so many gaps/disconnects for me in the rest of the book, however: Ava's relationships with all of her family seems seriously dysfunctional but we don't really learn why; it's based in Nantucket but I never got that Nantucket "feel"; and how does she go from being a lawyer (and never owning an actual house) to wanting to run an exclusive B&B?
This is the first of a series of seven books (that all seem to be coming out in 2022) so maybe some of the gaps will be addressed.

Ava has had a serious set-back in life. Her husband left her and stole all her money. She lives in New York and is a high-powered attorney. She's stressed and unhappy and she takes it out on a scuzzy client. Said client is rich and powerful, which leads to Ava losing her job. At her age, it is tough finding a job that pays the same as her previous job. Then good luck shines on her in the form of an inheritance. An previous client has left her a large, Victorian home on Sconset Beach in Nantucket. With her tail between her legs, she approaches her estranged mother and asks her to invest in a Bed and Breakfast. Her friends come with her as she repairs relationships with her mother, a daughter, and builds a new life.

This was an engaging story. There are lots of stories going on at the same time. The author is setting the path for additional stories. So sometimes I wished there was more information, which will probably come in a subsequent book. The writing style is easy to read. The characters are varied, from the staid workaholic to a free-to-be-me witch. The only thing I didn't like was some of the language and how easy some of the characters fell into bed.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read a new author and offer my honest opinion.

Laying the groundwork for a new series; happy-for-now ending ahead...
I only gave this book four stars because when I accepted it for review, I was unaware that it was a series and there would be more books to follow. All the main female characters find a happy-for-now in this book. They have sloughed off an unappealing life and followed Ava to Sconset Beach where she miraculously is bequeathed a solution to her current NYC problem.
Ava Flynn is a high-powered tax attorney for the rich and obnoxious; now wants out!
Hallie Gleason for the past 20 years has been a wife and mother but not happily.
Quinn Barlowe is just tired of the constant go-go-go and rush-rush-rush of NYC.
Sarah Flynn has nowhere else to go.
Each realize they can start a new life in this little Nantucket village that time has not altered, by design.
Colleen Flynn is a Federal District Judge, mother to Ava and Sarah. I feel there will be a lot more about her in a future book but in this book, Ms. Keaton has focused on Ava, Hallie, Quinn and Sarah. You will feel heartache with some of these women along with anger possibly but you will also see a future that none of them had expected too. Their futures will be explored in later books.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through NetGalley.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book.

Ava, in her mid fifties ends up leaving her intense law firm job and is gifted a beach house in Nantucket by one of her former clients.

Ava has not had the best luck at keeping relationships in her life. Her first husband died in an accident while she was pregnant for their triplets. Her second husband leaves her and takes all her money. She is estranged from most of her husband. She is estranged from her mother, who doesn't seem to approve of her. She has two best friends but they keep a lot of their personal drama from each other. Then her job as a high paid tax attorney who helps the rich avoid paying their taxes. One night when she is fed up she ends up yelling at the firms most important client and is then let go from her job. Everything is just turned upside down in her life until she is bequeathed a 7 million dollar beach home.

Receiving this home is the best thing that could have happened to her. I love how Ava was able to have the strength to do something different in her life. This is a great story about repairing relationships in your life, at starting over, and facing adversity. I'm hoping to read more in this series.

I really enjoyed the story, but I found the extremely excessive & unnecessary use of the word "that" to be distracting. I marked 118 of them, and I did not count them all. There were multiple instances of verb tense disagreement such as using "would've" in place of "had", for example, ",,,she and Matthew never would've had her if she and Matthew had (not would've) broken up..."; singular/plural disagreement, such as "...stress and hard work was..." and "...next to her was Robert and Nathan...." These things don't bother some people, for me, they are like chalk squeaking on a chalkboard.

This was a great story, but I would have enjoyed it too much more if it had not been for so very many distractions in the writing. I would like to read book #2, and I hope the writing is cleaned up much better before sending out proof copies to readers. I give the story 5 stars, but I give the writing 3 stars.

I want to thank Sunrise Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review The Nantucket Beachfront Inn by Ainsley Keaton.
Ava’s husband is killed when she is eight months pregnant with triplets. Her second husband empties out her bank account and takes off. She speaks up at her job and is fired. Quite a beginning!
Turns out a former client and friend leaves her a large home in Nantucket with stipulations! She’ll need her family, old friends, new friends and maybe even a “witch” to help her succeed and find a way to turn this property into a successful B&B.
The author discribes her characters so well.
There are enough unanswered questions to fill the following six books in the Sconset Beach Book series. Looking forward to continuing the saga!
You are quickly drawn in. The book published November 2021.

Ava Flynn was a lawyer and she was always fighting for the billionaires that didn’t want to pay their taxes. She hated her job with a passion but she needed it badly. Then one arrogant client made Ava lose her patience with him and she ends up jobless. At 53 years old who would hire her making the money she was accustomed too. Her first husband had been killed before she gave birth to her triplets. Then her second husband basically screwed her over royally. But she finds her way along with the help of her two best friends, her mother and her children. All of them have secrets but feel as if they tell them out loud they will be judged. Friendships, secrets and new prospects made this book so enjoyable!

Ava Flynn’s life is a disaster. She’s 54, unemployed and single. One thing is looking up, she was recently left a beach house in Nantucket by a wealthy former client. She hopes to turn the large home into a bed and breakfast inn to generate income. Her estranged daughter lives on the island as well and has struggles of her own. Ava hopes to repair the relationship with her family in time. Ava’s two best friends come to the island to help her remodel and get her life together. They each have life struggles of their own.
This book is part of a series so there are a number of characters making their introduction. I love anything set in Nantucket so this was a great beach, summer read for me. One of the characters threw me for a loop about halfway through but maybe she’s just eccentric. I will have to pick up the other books in the series to see how their stories unravel.

This is a new to me author but I loved what I read, captivated from the first chapter, I couldn't put the book down. If you like Debbie Macomber, Sherryl Woods or Nora Robert's writing, then you'll like this author.

This book is the first book in a series set on Nantucket Island. It's a story of 4 ladies Ava, Sarah (her sister), Quinn and Haille. Ava inherits a house on the Island, and the others join her. It's their stories which start the series off.

I have a feeling I'm going to be reading the rest of the books in the series next as I'm invested in the story.

The books will be best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

I'm sure you wont be disappointed in this book, but be prepared to give up a few hours as you won't be able to put it down.

This book begins with Ava, a High-powered New York attorney who specializes in tax law, getting her wealthy clients off for tax evasion. When she is finally fed up and tells one of her clients the truth, she is promptly fired. She then inherits a valuable home on Nantucket Island, but there are several loopholes she must accomplish before the home is transferred to her permanently. She decides to renovate the home into a boutique B&B and convinces her two best friends to move with her. Although the friends are extremely close, all three have secrets that they must overcome that they haven’t told the others about. I found these characters very well developed and am looking forward to see what happens next in the series.

The Nantucket Beachfront Inn is the first of a series by Ainsley Keaton. Attorney Amy Flynn finds herself middle aged and pushed out of the firm where she should have been a top partner. She also finds herself the recipient of a large beachfront home on Nantucket as the beneficiary of a dear client who has passed. Amy and her friends Hallie, who is in PR, and Quinn, an interior designer, head to Nantucket to recreate the home as a bed and breakfast.

This is a multi-layered story with many different stories intertwined with a full cast of characters. This interesting story is sometimes too much…too many characters, too many storylines. But still, a good read. I did enjoy this story and recommend it.

The Nantucket Beachfront Inn has all the marks of a good read; well written characters, great scenery, decent plot, and good pacing. The reason I rounded my 3.5 down to three stars instead of up to four has to do with the overabundance of pop culture references and a feeling the author was throwing every hook into this book to see what would stick. I think there are good bones, it's just a bit fleshy around the middle. As this is the first in a series, I hope Ms. Keaton will refine and limit her story ideas. Overall, I feel it has great potential, and will be reading at least one more, and hopefully all future titles. Thanks to Netgalley and/or the publisher for giving me this title in exchange for an honest review.

I’m catching up on some older arc. The premise of the story intrigue me. I value my female friendships. Ava, Hallie and Quinn are in their 50’s living in New York City have their Wednesday night wine get together each have personal drama going on that they are keeping to themselves. When Ava’s inherits a beachfront home on Nantucket, the ladies all decide to go. Each lady finds a peace on Nantucket and decides to stay. The book is a collection of what will be a series books currently there are 11.. If you are wanting a quick beach read, this book is for you. My rating is a 3.5.

Thank yo #NetGalley, #AislingDelaney and #TheNantucketBeachfrontInn:SconsetBeachBooks for the ebook for my honest review.

"I just wanted to let you know that sometimes life gets out of hand, but it usually evens out in the long run."

Ava and Sarah are estranged sisters. Both have had a relatively successful life: Ava as a high priced New York lawyer and Sarah, a former architect with her long term relationship.Ans their mother is a judge in Boston.

Hallie is a depressed codependent mother. Quinn is a successful interior designer. Add them to the mix and when Ava loses her job but inherited a large house on Nantucket she hopes things are going to be much better

These women are fully formed with somewhat real issues. In this first of a series Ainsley Keaton has drawn reality and as a retired person I really enjoyed getting to know them. Highly Recommended 5/5
