Review of the complete series

I can't believe this has such a low rating, the story is so wholesome.

«Can true love really overcome any obstacles? Saki, a high school student, confesses her feelings to Makoto. Taken aback, Makoto reveals his secret, but the sudden discovery doesn’t seem to bother Saki who is already head over heels for him. After being rejected, Saki asks Ryuji, Makoto’s childhood friend, for some advice on how to win his heart. A love triangle unfolds when Ryuji realizes that he might also have some feelings for his old friend.»

At first I was attracted to the art and character design, then I discovered a very well-paced story and round characters with relatable motives - especially Saki, she made me cry in the end.

It is very short though, which only adds to the charm in my opinion.

The ending is bittersweet, which I especially like in coming of age and romance stories with teens.

The manga is exactly what I thought it'd be! A lighthearted adorable romcom with incredible art (also fully coloured!!)

The manga is about Makoto who cross-dresses as a girl and Saki who asks Makoto out and doesn't mind him cross dressing at all. It does showcase some of the challenges of how one identifies themselves and how other people react as well as how it impacts family, but it keeps it all in a light manner.

It's such a cute and fun read. I'll definitely be reading the coming volumes too as I'm excited to see where Makoto and Saki's journey will lead them and whether there will be more romance in the future.

Honestly, the exploration of gender, sexuality, family, loneliness, and self-discovery throughout this story was really well done and bittersweet. There were plenty of fun and happy moments, but it made the emotional parts land well. I picked this series up on a whim and I'm really glad I did!

I love it so much! Senpai wa otakonoko is is a wholesome rom com with beautiful art exploring gender and sexuality. It's a fun read and I'll definitely check out the future volumes.

I'm curious to see how Makoto and Saki's relationship progress and it was also nice to see the challenges of being open about your identity, about the loneliness that comes with the freedom and how it impacts you.

come ho fatto a non conoscere prima quest'opera!??
ho appena finito di vedere l'anime + il film e mamma mia😭💘.
non si parla solo di accettazione di sé stessi, ma anche di "fare ciò che si vuole, fare ciò che ci rende felici", ed è qualcosa di cui, personalmente, mi dimentico sempre.
e guardare un anime del genere ti riapre gli occhi, ti fa credere che non è tutto perduto, che non c'è una sola via d'uscita, che tu puoi, ANZI, devi fare ciò che ti rende felice💕.

È solo questo che conta ❤
