I did not like the FMC. I just could not connect with her on any level. She was his complete opposite, but it felt really mismatched.

This was my least favorite of the series so far and I feel sad about that.

I can't even write a full review because I barely remember anything and I only read it 10 days ago, I even forgot that I did not write a review lol

Obviously people will feel differently than me so if you are still interested in reading this go ahead! You might end up loving it as I seem to be in the minority.

I will definitely finish the remaining books in this series.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Opposites attract
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely loved Callum - talk about the perfect opposites attract story! Autumn is a free spirited girl who has lived her entire life as a nomad - her mom taking her from one place to another, never staying anywhere for long. A stop in Chicago turns into a longer than intended stay when she ends up injured when she's in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's when she meets Callum, leader of the Westies of Chicago and a man she KNOWS needs his aura cleansed, lol. The attraction is quick and hot and Autumn decides to go for it and spend the next week with this enigmatic man that she knows she's eventually going to need to leave. With threats to Autumn looming, Callum decides to let her go, but sometimes fate has other plans.

Seriously one of my favorite lighter mafia reads! You think it's not going to work... the hippie girl and the mafia guy, but it totally does and I LOVE how all in Callum is. He is finds her absolutely fascinating and is completely obsessed. Autumn is everything I love in a heroine. She's caring, has a strong soul, and is willing to throw herself out there for what she wants with no games and ulterior motives. Callum is well written, the storyline great, and there is tons of action from beginning to end. Additionally, we get to see our favorite Syndicate characters, Cleo (Callum's sister) and Haruaki, her Yakuza husband. Callum is a definite recommend for me and I am so glad they are continuing the series. Can't wait for Kenji!!

Callum is the 6th book in The Syndicates series by Cala Riley. It can easily be read as a standalone, but best enjoyed when read in series order. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.

⛔️ My bookshelves can sometimes contain spoilers

This was my first read of this mafia series by this amazing duo! I don't feel like I was lost or missed out on info - what I did miss out on was 5 other amazing books that I will need to read!!

Callum is ruthless, feared and dangerously intriguing. You don't want to get on his bad side. Despite him being the leader of the Westies in Chicago, he has a softer side. His heart is dark, but it bleeds light for the innocent. Especially one young woman who never should have crossed paths with him.

Autumn is such a free spirit. She's quirky, adorable and sassy when she needs to be. She will not allow anyone to bring her energy down. For sure the light to Callum's darkness. Even with all her whimsy - she has found a way to being a leader, a mafia man, a hot possessive man....
TO HIS KNEES!

This was packed with heat, darkness and characters that grew on me.

It pains me to give such a low rating when I so wanted to like this book. I had so much fun reading the previous book Haruaki that I was really anticipating to enjoy this one as well. Unfortunately no, it didn't work. The writing was okay, quite good. The chapters looked good until the hippie discourse set in and then everything quickly went downhill. It was the plot that totally lacked any tension between the H and h that killed it. Because of that any appeal to their supposed romance ultimately fell flat. Everything was bland, including the leads' personalities (I even found myself disliking Autumn as the story enfolded), with not much real action (or else so unrealistic ones) and at times tmi on so mundane, so unnecessary boring stuff (e.g. a apple crisp recipe!). Even my beloved Cleo and Kai seemed off in the plot whenever they appeared. *sigh* this makes me sad I could not like it.

If you are not a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, this book is not for you.

Accidental pregnancy is not a favorite trope of mine so I’m not surprised I didn’t like this one as much as some of the others in the series. My biggest gripe with the trope in this book is that Callum (MMC) hid the fact that his protection broke and yet somehow the FMC (Autumn) was totally ok and unbothered by it when he finally decided to tell her. She was an ok FMC, but I just couldn’t help but cringe when she was explaining crystals, stones, and candles to Callum. I’m all for opposites attract but hippie and mobster is a weird pairing.

Additionally , as much of a fun read as this was, the transition from lust to love was too quick for me. There wasn’t enough yearning. I loved Callum in the previous books but in this one he was a carbon copy of Killian.

I’m also starting to notice as I continue reading this series that all the books move in the same predictable pattern which is starting to bore me. There wasn’t enough high stakes action in this plot and when we get to the climax the “villain” of the book isn’t taken out by the MMC. A side character does it—underwhelming.

“I will never regret you, mo stór. My treasure. The love of my life.”
“I’ll never regret you either. I love you.”

This is the sixth book in The Syndicates series and I couldn’t put this book down. I’m obsessed with the series and I love how each one is a standalone. This writing duo never disappoints with their books.

Autumn is a nomad that has always moved from city to city. So when a stop in Chicago on her way to her next destination turns her life upside down when she witnesses something she shouldn’t. That is when she meet Callum. Callum is the new leader of the Westies of Chicago. So when he saves her from his men, he take her to his house so she can heal. Callum become very protective and possessive of her. They have an undeniable attraction and connection to each other. So they decide to spend a week together before she leaves and their connection becomes so much more intense during the week they spend together. But when there is a threat he decides to let her go but sometimes fate has other plans. I enjoyed how different they were, how she is a free spirit and he is a mafia man. I love how perfect they were for each other and how they are exactly what the other needed.

I was so happy to see Cleo and Kai they are definitely one of my favorite couples is the entire series.

I can’t wait for the Kenji book.

I would recommend if you like:
💚 Mafia romance
💚 Opposite Attract
💚 Accidental pregnancy
💚 Possessive Hero
💚 Quirky Heroine
💚 Steamy Scenes

This is the 6th book in this incredible series, and this is Callum and Autumn’s journey. Autumn is sassy, quirky, and caring, and she is a free-spirited nomad, who moves from town to town, and when she lands in Chicago, her life is tilted on its axels, when she crosses paths with Callum. Callum is ruthless, feared, dangerous, possessive, and caring, and is the leads of the Westies in Chicago. When fate destines these two to cross paths, they spend a passionate week together, and Autumn is the light to Callum’s darkness. These two may be complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. When Autumns’ past comes back to haunt her, Callum will do whatever he must to protect and keep her safe. This is a well written story which has explosive chemistry, and is action packed, with emotions, love, suspense, danger, intrigue, and is a steamy and entertaining riveting page turner.

I love Cala Riley’s mafia books. They never fail to bring the action and the heat and Callum was no different.

I loved that Autumn was so different from any of their normal heroines with her quirks and free spirit. I also loved how much of a back bone she had with Callum. It takes a strong person to stand up to the ruthless leader of the Westies but Autumn did it while also bringing the humour. But my favourite part is seeing a ruthless hero bought to his knees. Every. Single. Time.

If you love mafia, opposites attract, some suspense, with a possessive male and an accidental pregnancy then you should definitely check out Callum.

Girls you did it! You added yet another fantastic book to your mafia series. Can it be read as a standalone? Yes. I do recommend that you start from the beginning to get a better understanding of all of the side characters and the roles they play in the series. I fell in love with Callum when I read Haruaki's book. Callum called to my heart because of the softness of his personality. That man was ruthless when it came to his position but with his sister or Autumn he was a completely different person. Autumn that girl was wild and I loved it. Callum and Autumn were complete opposites but wow did they balance each other out. I can't tell you how invested I was in this book or heck even in this series. This book will make you laugh and swoon its a perfect mixture.

I really enjoyed Autumn and Callum's story! Holy cannoli! Cala and Riley do it again.

Autumn is a sweet, loveable free spirit, while Callum is a possessive ruthless mafia leader.

Autumn finds herself in a challenging situation, and Callum comes to her rescue.

These two are so different, but when they finally come together, it's FIRE! They go through a lot to get their HEA, but it was so worth it.

I am excited about Kenji's book!

Cala Riley never disappoints with their storylines and characters and Callum is one of those books that hits the spot. Callum is a strangers to lovers, opposites attract, age-gap romance that has suspense, twist and turns and steam and love. This is book six in The Syndicates series and one that you will not be able to put down. I loved Callum and Autumn's story and the connection that they had right from the start.

Autumn is a free-spirited nomad that has never stayed in one place for long. She has always moved around with her mother and she never knew who her father was. As she travels from one place to another she, unfortunately, is kidnapped. When she is rescued by a handsome stranger, Callum, she is taken back by his warmth and sweetness. She has so many questions about his life and what he does. Why does he have so many around him? Why is she not able to be alone in his house? When she meets his sister, Cleo, an instant friendship is formed and she feels like she has a sister that she never had. When Callum suggests that she give him a week to swoon her, she accepts. Her lifestyle is so different from Callum but when she includes him in the things that she loves, he actually eats it up. When she finds out who he is and what he does, she should run the other way but she doesn't. If anything she is pulled in more and wants to make sure he is safe by using crystals and candles. The sparks that happen between the two of them turn into a full explosion of feelings and steam. Autumn has the surprise of her life but how does she react? When her life is in danger what will they both do?

Callum is the head of the Westies in Chicago and is ruthless, dangerous and feared by everyone but he also has a soft and sweet side that comes out when he rescues Autumn from two of his enforcers. He is instantly attracted to her but because she is too sweet and innocent he knows that he cannot expect her to want to stay with him. He tries to keep his lifestyle away from her but it doesn't work. Suggesting that Autumn give him a week to treat her like a queen, he ends up falling in love and would do anything that she asks of him. Due to his lifestyle, he meets a variety of people and when he sees Autumn's eyes in another, he knows he needs to dig further into her background as well as this person. When danger rears its ugly head, how will it be dealt with? Can Callum convince her that he needs her in his life? That she is his queen?

I cannot say enough about Callum and Autumn's story. I absolutely loved this book and it is still lingering in my thoughts days later. The way that Cala Riley pulled me in with how beautifully written it was and emotionally gripping had me sitting on the edge of my seat and suffering a book hangover. I highly recommend picking up Callum and enjoy a wonderful love story that will have you feeling all sorts of feels.

A hostile takeover of the Chicago faction of the Westie's wasn't what I wanted. It's the life I've been handed though. Struggling through day to day operations, I never imagined my future. Until I met Autumn Davis. One week with her and I knew that she was something special. Unfortunately there are skeletons in her closet threatening her life so I send her one her way. I never imagined she would come back. Can I keep her safe while also keeping her with me?

Callum is the leader of the Westies in Chicago. He is certainly feared and dangerous but quite intriguing. However the man does have a much softer side. He is a man who cares for the innocent and he will take care of anyone who harms them. But the one that gets under his skin more than anyone is Autumn. A young lady he never in a million years should have crossed paths with.
Autumn is adorable, super sassy and very quirky. The girl is at her best when her energy is up and she is all in her own world and she refuses to let anyone ruin that for her. She and Callum would be an odd couple for sure since he is a man that carries darkness with him every where he goes. Callum though he was rid of her and she had moved on since she is such a free spirit and never stayed in one place for very long. But she has come back for one thing and that only one thing is Callum. Can these two from total opposite sides of a coin really ever make it work? You have to read to find out. I loved getting to know these two character's and the story they had to tell will have you reading well into the night.

This is the first book I’ve read by Cala Reilly, but it definitely won’t be the last. It has all the things I love in a good romance - mafia families, lots of action, and a great love story.

Autumn Daniels is in a Chicago bus station at midnight waiting for the bus to Minnesota when she walks to a store to get some snacks. While she’s there, she witnesses an attack, and two men decide to take her and kill her the next day. When Irish mob boss Callum Brennen shows up to check on things, he finds Autumn, and he is angry. He takes Autumn to his home, helps her, and lets her stay there for a few days until she’s ready to travel. The two become close…and closer. Eventually passion takes control, and their relationship becomes physical. Autumn still leaves for Minnesota, but certain events transpire which send Autumn back to Callum, but also back to face an unknown threat. Can Callum save Autumn and protect their love?

This book is great. It’s perfect if you like dark, but not too dark. It’s perfect if you like spice, but not too much spice. There’s lots of action from the opening pages until the end. The characters and world building are fantastic. Autumn and Callum are so well-written. I adore the fact that Callum is so straightlaced while Autumn is basically a hippie with a penchant for healing stones. I especially love supporting characters Connor and Cleo. I hope Connor gets a book - he’s tough and sweet rolled into one.

Callum is book six in The Syndicates series and is perfect as a standalone. Be sure to let me know if you read it - I’d love to discuss.

Thank you Greys and Cala Reily for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.

I have to say from the offset and before i get into this that I bloody love this book. I seriously could not put it down.

This story is Cullum's. He is the new head of the Irish Mafia in Chicago. Taking over is hard work and its about finding the trust worthy and who is apart of that family or not, which is something he wanted to be hands on with.

Callum chooses to go and check on his enforcers to show from the offset that he means business. Unlikely for them they messed up on their job and brought home an innocent girl stripped her naked and were going to disperse of her. Thankfully she was quick and had something about as she made noise altering Callum to her presence.

From the second they meet Callum makes Autumn feel safe and protected even though the instincts her mother taught her tell her otherwise. Their connection begins with building trust and feeling safe with one another and as the story unfolds this really does come to light just how much they trust and need each other.

I loved insights and differences between their two lives and who they were as it showed their similarities as well and they blended together perfectly.

The hippie and the gangster struck gold in the Irish mob.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book it kept me gripped from the first page and I can not wait to read more from Cala.

Autumn is a nomad kind of person, never settling in one place too long and always listening to her heart for the call to move on. When she stops in Chicago on her way to her new job in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, everything changes during one trip to the convenience store.

Callum is new to his position as the head of the Westies of Chicago. He is ruthless, feared, and one intriguing character. As the new leader, he is unsure about who he can trust in the Westies. Callum life is turned on it's end when a quirky nomad falls in to his arms, quite literally.

Callum is book six in The Syndicates series by Cala Riley and my experience in the series and Riley is a new-to-me author. As a lover of dark mafia romances, I really enjoyed this book. Callum is this merciless leader but when he's with Autumn, he is protective and his lighter side shines bright. Autumn is a free spirit, incredibly sassy, and can hold her own against the dark side of the man who has settled her nomadic heart. Cala Riley's Callum has heat, heart, hurt, secrets, and surprises that keep her readers turning page after page, reading chapter after chapter. I couldn't put this one down and I'm am excited not only for the next book in the series but also to go back and read the previous books.

These authors promised us something special with Callum and they delivered something special, I love a good Mafia romance and The Syndicates has been a great series, I am always impressed how Cala Riley mixes dark and dangerous with men that are 100% swoon stars to the women that capture their hearts, and this is so true of Callum, Autumn is like no other starring lady we have had, a woman who hops from city to city, never staying in one place to long, a trait instilled in her by her mom because of a secret that Autumn has no idea is about to catch up with her, maybe if she had stayed out of Chicago, the one city her mom told her never to go to, things may have been different, but then she would not have been thrown straight into the path of the newly appointed Don of Chicago Callum, Callum knows he has no time for a relationship but Autumn with her Bohemian ways, her cleansing candles and stress releasing stones has someone made it through his walls and he will stop at nothing to keep her safe.

The twists and turns, the heat and the chemistry between Autumn and Callum is well told, and I adored that we got to see Callum's sister Cleo again, the little mix is as feisty as ever.

I'm always a bit wary of jumping into the middle of a series, even though a book is standalone, experience has taught me you miss out on so much of the back story doing this and that can ruin a book. But, this was well written and not reading earlier books did not detract to much from Callum and Autumn's story, although I do feel your reading would be enhanced by reading the series in order.

Callum and Autumn meet in a rather dramatic and unusual way. The attraction and chemistry is right there from that first minute. However, Callum's position as leader of the Westies in Chicago, along with Autumn having a connection she doesn't even know about put her in a dangerous position. After a week of scorching hot passion Callum sends Autumn away, he doesn't want to, he knows that what they have is very special.

Callum and Autumn's characters are very diverse. Callum, the hard, dangerous mafia leader and Autumn, who is soft, caring, nomadic despite being brought up never knowing her father. The "marriage" that is Callum and Autumn is perfect in so many ways, the diversities between them complimenting and enhancing them both. Their journey is a hard one, with many spanners thrown into the works but will make you both laugh and cry, and leave you with all the warm feels you need.

Cala has done it again!! Callum has just become another of my absolute favorite guys. Callum and Autumn were simply amazing and wonderfully written. I just can’t get enough of the characters Cala has written in her Syndicates Series.

After a Hostile Takeover Callum has become the Head of the Chicago branch of the Westies. As with most of the Syndicates Men he is a firm believer of no hurting innocents especially when they’re women. So when he decides to check on some of his men he finds a woman locked away. Autumn just wanted to get some snacks and a drink after spending all day on a bus heading to help a friend for the winter, she never expected to witness a crime and taken to be dealt with brutally. Then she’s found and saved by a Ruthless and Handsome man and their story just gets even more intense and crazy. You’ll have to read to find out just how perfect these two are and how hot their chemistry is!!

This book has all the feels just like all Carla’s books do in this series!! You have an OTT protective and possessive alpha male, a sweet feisty and strong willed FMC and a whole lot of danger, twists and turns, betrayal, secrets and a whole lot more!! Ends on a HEA. I highly recommend this book and this entire series. Can’t wait for Kenji’s story next.

perfect combination

This had all my favorite tropes!
mafia
dirty talking MMC
funny FMC
kidnapping
forced proximity
opposites attract
and one more that I won’t spoil

Autumn meets Callum after she’s been kidnapped by rouge members of Callum’s mafia while traveling. Autumn takes up Callum on his offer to make things right by staying at his house until she can get her affairs in order and get on with her nomadic lifestyle.

The forced proximity does its job and these two total opposites end up connecting with each other more than they anticipated.

They take advantage of their short time together and come to terms with a no strings attached/friends with benefits relationship until it’s time for Autumn to move on to her original destination.

But the universe always has a way of bringing us back where we’re meant to be.

this is my second book by Cala Riley and I’m loving their character style! I’m notorious for starting interconnected series on any book except the first because I pick based off my favorite tropes 😅 that being said I don’t feel like I missed out on anything! I loved seeing glimpses of other characters and it makes me excited to read their books as well!

🌶🌶🌶/5.

This was a pleasant surprise. I thought I wouldn't like this book as much as I did just because of that type of fmc it has but I was mistaken.
I actually love Autumn and how she is and I love the way she meshes with Callum.
I actually liked how this became an accidental pregnancy since it's something I don't read often but I especially liked how Autumn handled it. It never crossed her mind to keep it a secret, in fact the fact that she was pregnant was what made her certain that going back to Callum was the right thing to do, like the universe was telling her that's where she belong.
Callum had a lot on his plate but he has Declan by his side so he wasn't a workaholic. Btw I loved seeing Cleo, Haruaki and Declan so much on page since I already read their books so I already know and it makes this book even more special.

I loved the way Autumn reacted to all the things going her way, from discovering who Callum really was to who her father was and what all that entailed. I just liked the way she viewed life.
Despite how it happened, I love the bond she created with Connor, her personal bodyguard, and I hope I see more of them in the future cos I just don't he is smitten by little Emily. 🥰

This book was so much fun!
This was my first Cala Riley book. This is part of a series but this can easily be read as a standalone.
This book is a steamy opposites attract romance between a mafia man and free-spirited woman. She actually decides he needs his aura cleansed! I found this so funny and unexpected in a mafia romance. I really loved how gone for the heroine the hero was from the moment they met. It was *chef's kiss* The steam between these two was top shelf. I definitely needed to bring out my fan for some of their scenes.
There is a ton of action here that I was never bored while reading. Something was always happening that was moving the story forward.
This is definitely on the lighter side when it comes to mafia romances. I would recommend this if you want to give mafia romances a try but don't want to jump right into the darker waters. I would also recommend this for fans of opposites attract, accidental pregnancy, possessive hero, alpha hero, quirky/sunshine heroine, humor, and steam of course!

* Thank you to Grey's Promotions and the authors for an advanced readers copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed this. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

I have to say a girl on the hippy side of life meeting the head of a mafia family makes for an entertaining read that's for sure. Autumn loves to fly by the seat of her pants by traveling & working jobs along the way until it's time to move on. She's in Chicago for a stop before continuing on to her next job when she's at the wrong place at the wrong time & ends up getting kidnapped by Callum's men. Luckily, Callum checked on those men since he's having issues with taking over so he finds the most beautiful girl & takes her to his home. They had an instant connection & spark flying so it wasn't long at all before they were lighting the sheets on fire, but she also became a place of peace for Callum in a very short time but they agreed on a temporary arrangement so she went to her next destination before too long. Of course they're perfect for each other so the separation didn't really work for them & she came back. Callum is book 6 in the Cala Riley’s The Syndicates series. And every one of these Mafia men so far have all been 🔥🔥... so first I fell in love with Killian then, Enzo and NOW, Callum! Oh man! This Story. Did. Not. Disappoint! It started off strong and kept going till the very end.

And the best thing about the Syndicates Series... Cala Riley's mafia men are alphaholes who bow to no one but their women bring them to knees and they would burn the world down for them!

Autumn is a freespirited girl who is living her life on the open road, never staying one place for too long. When she stops in Chicago.. and with an unfortunante event... she crosses paths with Callum. This made man is blown away by this carefree beauty... and wants a week to "woo" her! Though completely opposite... their chemistry is scorching!

A chance meeting or absolute fate
Callum (The Syndicate Book 6) by Cala Riley is an exciting mafia romance. Both lead characters were fine with the status quo until their paths cross and lives collide. Callum is a tough bad boy, takes his responsibilities seriously and without regret. Autumn has lived her life as a nomad, not knowing any other way. When these two meet, collision and confusion flood the mind while the hearts throb for one another. The chemistry is palpable and undeniable, yet both think a long lasting or forever relationship is possible.
The plot is multi-layered from both character’s perspective individually and as a couple. The mafia aspect gives this romance a bit of a dark side and the antagonist impacts both Callum as the mafia leader and then Autumn, through her past.
Overall, Autumn and Callum navigate real and imagined obstacles and come through it all forged in love.
I read an ARC of this book via Grey’s Promotions and voluntarily share my review.

I really enjoyed Callum it drew me in from start to finish I didn't want to put my reader down and when I was done I wanted to go back and re read . Callum is book six in the Syndicates series this would also be the fist book I have read in the series I felt like you could read it as a standalone but I wish that I read the first five books in the series to better acquaint myself to the secondary characters . This would also be the first story that I have read by Cala Riley and I can't wait to read more by the author in the future . The couple had a lot of chemistry and when they finely connected... just fireworks baby also really liked how they were with one another they had a mutual respect that I admired . I can't wait to read more by the author in the future I highly recommend this book along with other stories by Cala Riley .

While this might have been book six in the series I can tell you I wasn’t lost at all. I fell in love with Callum and Autumn. Callum is a ruthless and unforgiving leader of the Chicago Irish mob and he rules it as such. Autumn is a free spirit who basically lives this nomad lifestyle you would never think these two would ever end up together but I can tell you now these two were made for one another. Autumn is sassy, fun, and will go toe to toe with Callum in a heartbeat the only woman that can give this man a run for his money. I love how ruthless Callum is but when he is with Autumn we get to see his softer side. This is one of those books that once you pick it up you wont be able to put it down. Its captivating, thrilling, it has heat, fire and will keep you turning the pages wanting to know what comes next. I must say after reading this book I will now be going back to read books 1-5 especially because I want Cleo and Kai’s story!! Fantastic read.

I received a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review. This is the newest book of the Syndicates series by this amazing author duo. This is without a doubt my favorite book In this series. Callum is protective swoon worthy book boyfriend we all love to love. He meets Autumn when he saves her after being taken. Neither plan to fall for one another but the instant chemistry and feelings between them are undeniable. Autumn moves around a lot, never staying in one place for too long, but fate brings them back together after she moves on to work for her mother’s friend.
The love between these two was so heart warming and even had me shedding a few tears.
The character development in this book was perfectly done. I loved the growth of the characters, how they grew together and individually as people was everything you hope for in a book. I can’t give this book and author duo enough praise, it was pure perfection.
