This tween’s chapter book is cute, although (for me) it pushes the line just a bit for a kid’s book because of its language and attitudes. I encourage parents to examine the book first to see if it’s appropriate for their kids. (Smooching, kissing, romance, and words like stupid, etc. are used freely.)

KATT LOVES DOGG is the Romeo and Juliet of the animal world. The heroes, Molly the Katt and Oscar the Dogg are natural foes. After all, katts and dogs have always been sworn enemies. But Molly and Oscar defy the odds as BFFs who enjoy each other’s company. And they understand others who feel the same.

Not only is this an adventure story, but it includes humor, wit, and line drawings throughout. I’m not a huge fan of the poots or butt references, but they are harmless, and teens probably find them hugely entertaining.

OVERALL: The main themes throughout the story are overcoming prejudices and cooperating with others—timely and critical messages. Discrimination and intolerance are often passed down through generations. They are learned views, which is why I find the messages of this book extremely important for young people to receive.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. My review was not influenced.

This book was received as an ARC from Jimmy Patterson in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was beyond adorable and had a lot of references to Romeo and Juliet and fictional family feuds. Dogs vs, Cats is the most epic feud of all time and James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein do a brilliant job incorporating humor while telling a dramatic, romantic and even thrilling story. I know our tween readers will have a blast reading this book and will be talking about it non-stop. It's always so nice to see children enthused about books and I am happy this book will continue that trend.

We will consider adding this title to our JFiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

342 pgs. Book two proves that lots of adventure and teamwork can really help some animals that are natural enemies. The humor and fast-moving plot make for a great read. Highly recommended for Grades 4-6.

Look, I adored the first one, in fact I still reread it. A great message of hate and how we can get along if we try to see from the other persons perspective. I love the character building, not to mention it's a childhood favorite of mine.
This book, on the other hand, has no well done message, no character building, and no real purpose. It is a shadow of the surprisingly well done first book.

They kissed in the first book, but now they're just friends? Um... Excuse me? I don't have any friends where it's normal to kiss each other!

The premise of the Romeo and Juliet characters are dumb and overused, unless you do it well, or in a cute way. This was not done in a cute way, as you can guess. They didn't even try to make it seem clever, like making a twist on the old tail. It just kinda slapped you in the face. The reason the first one worked was because they let the reader find the hidden messenge.

The first book finished up all that needed to be said. This book just exists for the fans (me included in that minority), but for me it really didn't cut it. (Not to mention I bought this at full price! No Thrift Books for me.)

*This review is a criticism of the book, not the author or the fans. James Patterson can, and has, written many good books.

It was a cute and funny story about the importance and advantages of working with others not like yourself.

This is a children’s book I know. But books don’t have an age limit on them and it’s one of my favourite authors, forgive me. This is actually book two in the Katt VS Dogg series and I didn’t read book one before but it read fine as a Standalone. It is beautifully illustrated throughout and a story full of hope, love, friendships and working together.

Cats and dogs are known to be enemies right? But what if it was the opposite? What if they were in love? Friends? What if all animals who didn’t get on decided to all accept each other and become friends? Work together? In this story you’ll find out all about that. When Molly (Katt) and Oscar (Dogg) become good friends they both find out a shared hidden family secret that made them enemies and they’re determined to fix it. Break the rules. Change the rules.

Fab, fun read. Something a little different for me. Would highly recommend to children and adults if you like. A well deserved four stars from me.

A cute book about cats and dogs that either get along or don't and learn that life is much more enjoyable when you do. Not only cats and dogs though, other animal species are learning also. Through the Wilderness Reserves all of the animals have a place to go and be accepted for who and what they are.

I acquired this book through my local library, just like the first one, and while I found it fun, engaging, and humorous just like the first book, but the pacing felt a bit slow in the first half. By no means is it bad, it just took a bit longer for me to get invested. It is still a fun time for kids and adults who enjoyed the first in the series.

Katt and Dogg are back. Their cousins are a modern day furry Romeo and Juliet. It’s a cute story about how differences of look keep people apart, yet some can see past it and fall in love. When the furry friends team together to help true love, more is exposed.

A nod to Bard in this generational tale of love and hate, and feuding families as Oscar the Dogg and Molly the Katt spend a camping expedition with their individual families, but find themselves teamed up again to find their cousins who are in love, and has disappeared.
