USA Today Bestselling author Kimberly Krey is known as the Queen of Steamy Clean Romance. She's a fervent lover of God, family, and cheese platters, as well as the ultimate hater of laundry. Her readers count on faith-filled romance novels that stay clean without losing the steam.
A violent man is hunting, an undercover bodyguard is mistaken for the intended target, and unexpected love sparks amid danger. Cabin Fever at the Homestead Inn is a tense, heart-centered sweet romance that pairs protection-work suspense with quiet domestic warmth. The book is Book 5 of Kimberly Krey’s Billionaires in Hiding / Homestead Inn run and was published in March 2022; it’s often described as a standalone read within the series.
Closer to the emotional center, what moved me was how Krey balances looming peril with scenes of everyday care: the Homestead Inn’s routines, small acts of service, and the slow softening between protector and protected give the story genuine warmth rather than turning it into a nonstop thriller. The pacing leans brisk where suspense is needed, then eases into quieter, character-driven moments that let vulnerability and trust develop believably. My only gentle reservation is that, because the book aims to remain sweet and largely clean in tone, some readers hoping for a darker, more procedural suspense might find the danger moderated rather than visceral. Overall, I found the marriage of safety-work tension and emotional intimacy satisfying and emotionally honest.
I award four stars because the novel delivers strong emotional payoff, credible character growth, and well-executed suspense for a sweet-romance audience; it doesn’t get five stars only because readers wanting grittier thriller elements or deeper procedural detail may feel the peril is somewhat softened to preserve the tender tone.
This exciting conclusion to the Billionaires in Hiding series was worth the wait! I've waiting a very long time for Maverick to get happily ever after, and although his wild ways threatened both his life and happiness, his bodyguard was there to protect him--Ember.
The chemistry ignited from the start, yet I kept having a nagging feeling that it was Maverick who should be protecting Ember and not the other way around. These characters were solid, swoony, and strong. Bodyguard love and kisses were pretty dreamy though.
I loved how the suspenseful thread that's appeared in many of the stories finally tied together, giving this one moments of peril and danger that were thrilling and chilling.
This series would definitely be much more enjoyable if read in order.
Content: mild moments of danger/peril/violence; mild romance

It's here! The final book in this Billionaires In Hiding series! This family of siblings has become so familiar to me and I've been rooting for them all along. Maverick is the last of the bunch to get his happily ever after and it was worth the wait. The chemistry between Maverick and Ember was sizzling from the beginning. I'm so glad I didn't have to wait too long for some kissing because yeah, it was fun. The whole overarching plot that stretched across the whole series finally came to an exciting ending. It gave this book a bit of light suspense and I liked that. And what a happy epilogue! This book was so satisfying all the way around.
I would recommend reading this series in order. It will be so much more pleasurable if you do.
Content: kissing, mild peril, mild violence

When the Duran family is forced to escape from danger again as Ava’s stalker ex-boyfriend obsessively continues to search for her, the family decides it isn’t safe for Maverick to stay alone at the Inn. Enter Ember, a bodyguard hired to protect Maverick. At first, Maverick thinks it’s a joke. This tiny woman couldn’t protect him, a big, muscly, fit guy. Doesn’t take more than a minute for Ember to prove him wrong! Ember is well trained, smart, and beautiful, a triple threat! As they settle into life together at the Homestead Inn, the pair begin to think that the danger is past. Until … It was great to read about Maverick, the rogue twin who has a sense of adventure and likes to live his life free of commitments and fancy-free. This book can stand-alone, although it’s more fun and makes more sense to read the previous books in the series in order. It does not end on a cliffhanger. A sweet, clean, recommended read.
This is the final book in the Billionaires in Hiding series. Maverick is the only family member who hasn't found his happily ever after and it doesn't look like he's in a hurry to find his other half just yet. It seems Ava's ex-boyfriend hasn't given up looking for her so the entire Duran family needs to leave the Homestead Inn for a safer place until he's caught. Of course stubborn Maverick refuses to go so he's assigned a bodyguard to keep him safe. Ember is not the bodyguard Maverick was expecting and sparks immediately fly between these two, just not the romantic kind. All that begins to change when the two of them are needed to fill in at the activity center at the Inn.
I really liked Ember. She was smart and knew how to do her job but she was also good with the kids in the activity center. Maverick finally met his match in Ember and unexpectedly (to him) got his happily ever after. The reader also gets an update on the other couples from the previous books and a satisfying ending to the series.

Maverick is the last single Duran sibling who, all of whom are in Wit Sec, and this final installment was worth the wait. Mav is the black sheep, he doesn't listen well, and I'd say he needed to grow up and get over his jealousy of his brothers. Enter Ember, his tiny mite of a body guard. She is a spit fire with her own commitment issues. She is EXACTLY what he needs. I love the way Kimberly Krey ended this, the suspense, (don't worry not too much) was perfect and the end was just fantastic. I refuse to even spoil any of this for you. I would recommend you read the whole series, though I think you could read this alone, this whole series was a favorite for me, I could not wait for the next book to come out. This book was just the cherry on top!!
This is a wonderful finale to the Billionaires In Hiding series by Kimberly Krey. The last of the billionaires hiding at the Homestead Inn, Maverick, is still as stubborn as ever and refuses to leave the Inn with the rest when Ava’s ex boyfriend gets closer to locating her. The siblings hire a bodyguard for him. Ember is hired to protect Maverick. She is hardened ex military and thrives on helping others to stay safe. What happens when she is mistaken for the missing Anna Fielding? Can the playboy be tamed? Can Ember’s heart open to the love of a man?
Great wrap up to the Billionaires In Hiding series. Meeting all the family and watching them find their forever person one by one was really wonderful. I especially liked how each character learned so much about themselves along the way. I would recommend this story to any reader that enjoys clean and still steamy romances.
What a great ending book to the Homestead Inn stories: all the Duran children happily matched up with their sweethearts. I enjoyed watching Maverick finally getting his HEA, after repenting of his player ways and trying to be a better man. The story was well-paced and kept me turning page after page. And I especially loved all those steamy kisses while still keeping the story clean. Thanks for another fantastic story, Kim!
The last book in the series is everything you would want. The tension, climax, and resolution are so riveting, and the love story between Maverick and Ember is so heartwarming, tender, and swoonworthy. Each and everyone of the books in the series is worth the read.
A good clean fun romance with suspense, the final of series. Maverick is rebelling against the family decision to go in hiding from Ava's (Anna) ex-boyfriend so enters Ember, his new bodyguard. Sparks start flying. I am glad Maverick finally finds love and the ending of the story is great. I would highly recommend this series.
Cabin Fever at The Homestead Inn: Against All Odds is exciting, romantic, intense, and the perfect ending for a superb series of romantic suspense books. Emery and Maverick are a fantastic couple and I enjoyed reading as they grew together, worked out their differences, and became better people. If you are a fan of romantic suspense stories read this one soon.
I love this series! When an imprisoned grandfather turns on the mafia, his five grandchildren are forced into the witness protection program. Relocated to the Homestead Inn, each adds a feature to the Inn and finds love in a different way. Playboy Maverick is the last to find love and has just about decided once he gets his contribution to the Inn completed, a gondola ride to a nearby mountain peak with a coaster ride down, he might just have to leave the four happy couples. When Ava's abusive ex steps up his search for her, everyone goes into hiding again but Maverick refuses. Ember, a private security specialist is called in to protect Maverick and at their first meeting, proves to Maverick that she can handle herself and protect him by slamming him into a wall and restraining him despite the difference in their sizes. This delightful story has plenty of kissing and tons of suspense!
This book of the series, Cabin Fever at the Homestead Inn: Against All Odds (Billionaires in Hiding Family Romance Series Book 5), did not have the family as involved as previous books did. It lessened the enjoyment for me, therefore, a four star. I liked the series for its charming family.
Cabin Fever at The Homestead Inn: Against All Odds
The last of the billionaires in hiding, reads of their good deeds as well as their bad ones but mostly about helping a young woman get away from her abusive boyfriend who would not let her go and do what she wanted. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
These books are fabulous. These hunkie brothers WOW and Kimberly is fantastic with the sizzle she adds Awesome! Great stories and love them all In one book - makes it easy to just continue on especially at 3am because I just can’t stop they are so good!
This book kept me awake and focused for half the night and I am a speed reader!! Having never met a billionaire I can imagine the portrait is spot on for this book. Am looking for more good reads from this author.
This is a great series. The characters are well developed and interesting. It would be better to read the series, starting at book one and ending here at book five.
What a great, exciting and fun last book in the series. I loved all the characters, suspense, action and love. I've read many of Kimberly Key's books and have enjoyed everyone. I highly recommend this series.
The concluding story & Maverick's turn to find his girl. The 1st meet scene is funny. She took Maverick down a peg or 5, including his ego. She could handle him. The last 3 chapters are the concluding fight for safety and right. Good story.
Man. Suspenseful! Maverick and Ember are such strong personalities and the circumstances forced them to get to know each other well. I love what the siblings each added to the Homestead Inn.
Fantastic story just as I thought it would be. A great series this one as been, full of adventure, intrigue, love and family ties. A wonderful job on this story and series!
This was the last of the series and was another great story. I would love to visit the beautiful homestead inn. The characters will bring you laughs, tears and cheers.
I loved this thrilling conclusion to billionaires in hiding. I really enjoyed Ember and Maverick together. I liked the slow start to their relationship.
what an up beat way to end the year with Happily ever after and end of a cute series While it was clean might have been little to much kissing for some church libraries
