Riane Arvid is a superhuman cop from the future, trapped in the year 2009 by group of murderous fanatics called the Xeran.
Nick Wyatt is a handsome twentyfirst century warrior who has been a target of the Xeran his entire life. He's the only one Riane can turn to, but his intentions are as mysterious as his origins. In an attempt to discover the truth about each other, both Riane and Nick decide seduction is the best tactic.
"Guardian" is a wonderful addition to Angela Knight's 'Time Hunters' series which began with "Jane's Warlord". I can't tell you how many times I've read the the first few books in this series. I love the way Ms. Knight writes her heroes and heroines and this stuff is pure fantasy with the added bonus of really, really hot sex!
Riane is the daughter of the couple from "Jane's Warlord". She's had to deal with the prejudice of being neither aristocrat nor a bioengineered warfem like her father. She's happy working as a Temporal Enforcer -- preventing time travel crimes and chasing down those who manage to commit them if they aren't prevented. When she's offered the chance to go after the traitor who tried to kill her parents, she's ready to rock! But her suit malfunctions and strands her in the 21st century --with her enemy waiting...and a man who is either her savior or another traitorous Xeran.
Nick's been an orphan since the age of fourteen when his mother was apparently killed by the creatures the two of them had run from as long as he could remember. He didn't see his mother die. However, as soon as the green armband she'd always worn appeared magically on his arm, he just 'knew' she was gone. The glowing armband has saved his life more times than he can count as he's still on the run from the creatures. The armband somehow gives him access to enhanced knowledge and powers; so he's used these abilities to save innocent lives and stay one step ahead of the bad guys. Then one night, his armband leads him to HER. It's the grown-up version of the girl he 'saw' in a vision years ago. But how can he say that to her...she'll think he's nuts! Of course, the best thing to do would be to help her escape the creature trying to kill her before he tries to explain anything!
When I read Angela Knight, I can almost picture myself in her books. Her characters become friends I remember long after I finish their books and I'm always happy when 'old' friends get a scene (or more!) in later stories. While her characters don't waste much time before getting to the 'good stuff', there's always a plot reason for it that makes sense to me--not just sex for shock value. The plots are engaging; with enough twists, turns, and flips to ensure I can't get complacent since I can't predict where she'll head next.
I appreciate the fact that Ms. Knight doesn't overwhelm me with science, even though these stories have scenes in the far future. She gives me enough information to understand the technology used, without resorting to 'rocket science' I wouldn't understand. I'm not a scientist...and I honestly don't want to become one, so scientific jargon just jars me.
When I figured out who Raine's parents were, I was worried Angela Knight was going to end this series I enjoy so much. No worries, though; towards the end of the book it becomes obvious there's more stories to come set in this fascinating world. 'The Time Hunters' series is a cool mix of mystery, fantasy, science fiction, suspense, and really hot sex. It should come as no surprise that all these books sit on my keeper shelf -- "Guardian" is the latest to join the group and the only downside to having read it is that now I know I'll have to wait impatiently for the next one.
5 Reasons to pick this one up: 1. If you like paranormals. 2. If you’ve never read a paranormal and you’re wondering what all the fuss is about. (Ms. Knight is a good story teller no matter what the sub-genre.) 3. If you like books with elements of time travel. 4. If you enjoy reading a book that is part of a series. 5. If you enjoy strong dialogue coupled with action and an interesting mythology.
Quick synopsis: In Guardian we meet Riane Arvid, a genetically engineered human and a Temporal Enforcer, in other words she’s a member of the time travel police. After her time travel suit fails due to sabotage she finds her self stranded in 2009. Enter Nick Wyatt from the 21st century. Orphaned at a young age, he has been fighting and protecting himself from the Xeran (the villains of this series, or as the cover blurb says “ murderous fanatics”) for most of his life. With both of their lives being threatened by the Xeran they must learn to trust each other if they are to survive. A time tested plot, and this one is done well.
Things I loved about this book: 1. I loved the unique way time travel is used to create tension and urgency. In the future time travel is part and parcel of daily life; and if you want to take the family on vacation to, oh let’s say, Regency England, well then book your ticket early. With time travel come the hazards of criminals going back in time for monetary gain, or evil doings. To prevent this, the Temporal Enforcers make time travel safe for everyone. They also make sure no one goes back in the past to screw up the present or the future. How cool is that? Imagine someone going back in time and making a killing at the stock market, ( a story line in the first book, Warrior) or even going back and meeting Bernie Madoff before he became the guru of Wall St. and making sure the only money he ever touched was the change he gave you after you ordered your Big Mac. Or meeting Picasso before he was “Picasso” and having your portrait painted. The possibilities are endless and they fueled my imagination beyond the reading of the book. Nice.
2. Which brings me to the second reason I loved this book - it fueled my imagination beyond the reading of the book. I love the thoughts Miss Knight’s world provoked. She sparked my imagination.
3. There is lots of well written and exciting action.
4. The dialogue is peppered with wit.
5. The characters have chemistry.
6. It was fun to read.
So if you’re looking for a paranormal, time travel, action packed romance, might I suggest Angela Knight’s Guardian?
The second book of the Time Hunters series this one picks up just about where Warrior finishes. In Temporal Enforcement HQ, Galar's still on his honeymoon, the Temporal Enforcers are still trying to track down Ivar Terje after he nearly blew up the base in his successful prison escape. Dona and Alerio are still drooling after each other even though fraternization between commanders and their troops is frowned upon and Senior Investigator Corydon is convinced Dona's the mole who helped Ivar. When Riane Arvid's time suit malfunctions, leaving her trapped somewhere in time, things only go from bad to worse. On the other hand, it you're going to be trapped in time, Riane figures there are worse fates than to be stuck with handsome, sexy and seriously buff Nick Wyatt...but there's more to Nick than the obvious, and more at stake than her virtue while she waits to be rescued. Knight will never be mistaken for the great American novelist, but if you're looking for action and lots of hot, steamy sex, you could do worse for a summer weekend read.
Apparently this series is incomplete, the ongoing plot is left unresolved. I would have liked to see where it ended. I think there were too many sex scenes. I hate when books write so many of them I find myself skipping them to get back to the action. I bet half this book is sex scenes as was the last book as well. I need more plot and a conclusion. I also have a rough time accepting all the double agents allowed in this high tech facility. Come on, they have the ability to detect truth!! You would think after the first betrayal they would question everyone with their computers shut down to hide their lies before being allowed in.
In the second book in the Time Hunters series, genetically bred machine-like warriors, Warlords and Warfem (men and women respectively), come from the planet Vardon in the 23rd century. Other than warring with the vicious Xerans, they police time travel to protect the people in the past, the present, and the future. The Warlords/Warfems rely on their computer and sensory implants to do their jobs, which makes them tougher and smarter than most normal humans. Warfem and Temporal Enforcer Riane Arvid and her genetically enhanced wolf partner Frieka are sent out on a mission when Riane’s specialized T-suit malfunctions and she’s sent spiraling through time. She winds up in the year 2009 and meets a strange, powerful man who’s more than just human. He’s part Xeran, but the kind, protective man is nothing like the murderous Xeran she knows. Nick Wyatt has been running from the Xerans all his life, and he doesn’t know why they killed his mother and wants to kill him. He has powers he doesn’t understand, but he uses them to help other people. Then he saves Riane from a Xeran attack, and though she doesn’t trust him at first, he knows she’s the only person who can answer his questions. As they get to know one another and the truth comes out, Nick’s life and everything he’s ever known changes forever. I loved this story! Riane and Nick have great chemistry. Their love bloomed from mutual trust and respect, and they didn’t really fight the connection between them despite the odds of their relationship lasting. The side plots with the secondary characters (Frieka, Dona, Dyami, Galar, and Jess) continue the overall series arc about who’s the traitor in the Outpost, which added more depth to the story. There’s more information about the Sela aliens and the T’lir artifact (it’s a power source), and the questions I had from the previous story were answered. The sex scenes are super hot but not very long as in the other books. This book seemed to focus more on the H/h’s emotions and the problems they and their friends must face, instead of the H/h having sex at the most inopportune times. Anyway, I enjoyed this book a lot, and it’s my favorite of the series. 5 Stars

Nick Wyatt lives in our time, and uses his special skills for good, saving strangers from harm. Rianne lives in the future, and regularly jumps to the past, keeping the universe safe from those who mean harm to humankind. They are fated to meet, that much Nick knows. Just what their meeting will mean is left to be determined.
This sci-fi/romance novel started off poorly, but it picked up for me about a quarter of the way in. There were some nobel characters, a great premise for the story, and non-stop action that kept it going. I didn't care particularly for how the romance/sex scenes were written, but it was important to the story. I think the action and sci-fi pieces were written better, though much was left unexplained even at the end. Time travel is always confusing, and that's no different here, but even the characters themselves admitted to be confused on the concept, so again I let that go. Overall, this was better than I thought it would be at the end of chapter 1, but not on my favorites list.
Nick Wyatt, half human, half Xeran, loses his mother at 14 but is given her green power stone which he uses to help rescue a 12 year old Riane Arvid. Sixteen years later he senses a female being attacked and goes to the rescue to find it is the same girl. She has been stranded in his time and mistrusts his Xeran half. Back at her home they are searching for her and a possible traitor. Riane is trying to get home, fight a wealth of enemies who are after Nick's power and determine how they are being targeted. Great story lots of action and erotic chemistry.
Absolutely brilliant! Is he human or more? Have they ever met before? The characters are real and the plot is compelling. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles and be triumphant. For all fantasy lovers out there, regardless of what genre, this is a must read. The romantic angle is played beautifully. (So much better than the "Masters " series. )

I so love this book ,from start to finish it was kick ass.
I love love love Nick ,he's just plain awesome ,he's been though so much that I felt so bad for him ,I thought it was so cool how he saved Riane when she was a young girl ,his powers are totally bitchin ,I also loved his relationship with Riane develops, they have some steamy scenes they were so good :) .
I love Riane ,she's just one cool chick ,I like that she can take care of herself, I love when she first meets Nick that was so great, but I didn't like that she kept thinking he might be evil ,it's like how many times did he save your life ,she finally see's that he is a good guy and I just love how everything with them unfolds ,it was just so awesome.
I loved the little side stuff you get with Dona & Alerio ,I love them both so much that I just hope they finally get together :)
Overall this book was totally awesome :) I am so glad that I started this series ,I can't wait to see what happens next :)
I am so done with Angela Knight that if you stuck a fork in me, meat would fall off the bone.
It's really unfortunate, because her "Time Hunters" series has such tremendous potential. The concept of Temporal Enforcers going back in time to prevent crimes has been done, sure (think Jean-Claude Van Damme's "Timecop"), but the idea of a whole series focused on the officers was great.
I read one of the books, "Warlord," and was not impressed by Knight's lazy writing. Using Carlin's 7 words to write erotica smacks of laziness and the inability to use a thesaurus. However, I was willing to give her another chance with "Guardian."
Never again. Two-dimensional characters and more lazy erotica. I cannot recommend these books at all.
Guardian continues the stories of the 23rd Century Temporal Enforcement Agency and their fight against the alien Xerans.
Riane Arvid's Temporal Suit has been sabotaged and she is stranded in 21st Century America by the fanatical Xerans. She meets up with Nick Wyatt, who is not at all what he seems, and doesn't know whether he is a good guy or one of the baddies.
With The Victor, the God of the Xerans, hot on their heels, it is a race to save themselves, the Sela (another alien race) and Earth from the murderous fanatical Xerans.
Another great read in the Warlord series. On the premise that temporal natives are not suppose to be brought into the future, there is a lot of traveling going on. However, most of this story didn't have much of the 23rd century tourist travel mentioned. Seems it is a very popular pastime in the future to visit your roots...personally.
Have to admit that I'm a bit frustrated with the Sela. For a passive race, they sure get involved a lot in others. Why do they get to test others for wisdom, strength, and honor while they sit by? You'll just have to see for yourself when both Nick and Riane come together and are continually testing.
I didn't love it, but I liked it much more than I expected to. Originally, I only picked this up because of how sexy and fun 'Jane's Warlord' was; I really didn't expect much from 'Guardian'. Still, I started reading and found myself caught up in the story. The general idea of the Time Hunters is a fun concept for a series, so there's that. In addition, the story proved to be a nice combination of romance and action. After finishing this book, I was committed to reading the rest of the series and bought 'Warrior', the book that actually came before this one. By the way, I liked that one, too. And, yes, you should probably read them in order.
This one continues the fight that started in Warrior between the Xerans, the Enforcers and the Sela. Nick Wyatt half-human, half-Xeran is in love with Riane Arvid an enforcer and caught in the middle of this conflict. The battle is intense as are the sex scenes between Riane and Nick. Excellent world building and character development. Really interesting concept and delivery. Number 3 should be fantastic.
Good read, lots of action, great characters [including Frieka the computer enhanced wolf, a personal favorite:], suspenseful plot - and the saved the villian to make the sequel in the best Hollywood tradition! Book 2 of the Time Hunters, it follows VERY closely on the end of Warrior and the story arc started their is continued. Order is important with this series.
Time Hunters 1. Warrior (2008) 2. Guardian (2009)
FYI, Guardian's heroine is the child of the hero/heroine in Jane's Warlord. Frieka was introduced here also.
And I still wish they let you give half stars because this book deserved to have a 4.5 star review. I have to say I really enjoy Angela Knight's worldsetting here and can't wait to finish reading 'Warrior'--as soon as I figure out where it went. I also enjoyed the characters in this book because the heroine is seriously kick-ass in her own right and even manages to rescue the hero at one point--something I especially like about Ms. Knight's books.
I didn't read the first book in the series but I didn't have any trouble figuring out what was going on. I never really quite know how to rate books like this. I give it three stars. Some hot sex scenes, some fun dialog, and a very different concept. But at the same time, it is just not quite a really good book. I enjoyed it and will most likely read more by Ms. Knight but I don't see myself recommending this to anyone who doesn't have a good sense of humor.
Guarding is the second book in Angela Knights Time Traveler Series.
I have to say that the story around the two protagonists is interesting and a fast-paced-action adventure. I loved reading it, but have to say that I liked the first book in the series more.
This is the story of Riane (daughter to Jane from her Jane's Warlord story). She gets trapped in the past and mets Nick who does not realise that he is half Xeran and half human. As they fall in love, they have to learn to trust each other and fight the Xeran who are after him.
Set in the same universe as Jane's Warlord and Warfem, and a sequel to Warrior, Guardian, book two of the Time Hunters Trilogy, is excellent. My only regret is that this series concludes after the next volume.
More like 2.5 stars. Couple of sloppy plot points and where the hell was Daddy? I understand, not his book. But we needed an explanation of where he was so we could understand why he wasn't around.
