Road trip with your bestie! What could possibly go wrong?
Well, if you're Torie Bliss, plenty could go wrong. Because when you're a powerful Hex Witch, trouble can find you anywhere.
All Torie and Jasmin want, is a long weekend away, being pampered in a luxurious spa, far from their complicated lives in Singing Falls. No magic. No mayhem. No monsters. Just massages, cocktails, and hot tubs.
But as bad luck would have it, none of that was meant to be. Instead, it's dead bodies, crooked sheriffs, and something supernatural lurking in the woods.
Despite their best intentions, Torie and Jasmin find that a witch's work is never really done, as they go head to head with something that just might be more than even they can handle.
What a twist. They did something I'd never do, leave the beaten path. Then to have a new car just quit working. Trevor just showing up. And I felt the sheriff was a little squirrelly and was happy to hear he was leaving. And Torie needs a real time out, doing thing outside her realm of knowledge, being impatient.
However, the book was a smooth read that was hard to put down. I suspected Penny, not Kitty, but was astounded by it. At first I suspected the coffee shop owner was involved and his husband was a good.
Dinner sounded awesome. Need those recipes.
Well, in to the next and last book. Then I'm taking a few days off to get some sleep.
A witchy girls' weekend away? Sounds like fun...unless you end up in the middle of a murder investigation involving a mysterious supernatural killer. Torie and Jasmin race the clock to save a woman from being falsely convicted of a murder that was eerily like others that had been happening in the sleepy little town for decades without no one being the wiser. I love how Torie is using some new power each book and learning her skills with practice. Also, there is a teaser of things to come with the last chapter, as always. Will she remain in Singing Falls installed in her new life, or will the fates call her away for a bigger purpose?
Favorite Line ~ "As ever, Torie was reminded that the real monsters out there were often made of flesh and blood and yet had lost all touch with their humanity."
CONSISTENCY!!!! Cameron suddenly becomes Trevor. In the last book, MAGDA told them something; in this book the shifter was the one to tell them. Penny refers to her husband as Henry, not Brad. The pet store owner tells Torie and Jasmin that she wants to start an animal rescue, but at the end Emily wants the rescue. OH. MY. GOD! It's distracting and so irritating!
Also, PROOFREAD! Way too many errors to list, but here's just one: it's "try in VAIN," not "in VEIN!"
The errors have gotten progressively worse with each book of the series. I like the plot and characters, but the multitude of errors is frustrating and diminishes my enjoyment. 😠
I found this series by accident and I'm so glad I did. Every book gets better and more action packed. I love the slow development of Torie's powers with each book. How her and Jasmin help others. How she is handing her new found love. I can't wait for the next book!
This was fun. Of course Torie and Jasmin were not going to be able to have a magic free mini vacation. Murders abound with mysteries to be solved. How long til we go back to Singing Falls?!!
I have enjoyed all the books in this series. I want to know what happens to these characters and how they end up. It's really interesting to read how they g err t together and how each species interact.
