The nightly news doesn’t help.

The war in the Russian Far East has ground to a halt. US and Japanese Marines battle for control of the Yaeyama Islands. With spring around the corner, the fear is that China has one last gambit to play, and people are wondering if NATO and Russia are ready.

The Allies have 750,000 soldiers…

…and the US Eighth Army is planning wholesale destruction through China.

But time isn’t on their side.

The fate of the free world rests on two the battlefields and the political minefield back home. The analysts know that Jade Dragon still has a few tricks waiting. They’re just not sure they can defeat them.

100% recomendados.

Book Review – Monroe Doctrine: Volume VI – James Rosone & Miranda Watson
Married couple authors James Rosone and Miranda Watson jointly pen another scary-believable, near-future technological military thriller with book six, “Monroe Doctrine: Volume VI” in the eight book Monroe Doctrine series. Full of a lot of moving parts, combined with current geopolitical intrigue, Volume VI, makes for an entertaining, theatrical, and sometimes ‘eerie’ military technothriller. Rosone and Watson do a fantastic job – as usual – getting the military terminology right along with many of the idiosyncrasies of military life. Rosone’s former Air Force interrogation experience and former State Department and Defense Department knowledge are shown in these stories - mending them well into the storylines. This ‘dynamic writing duo’ is one of the few science-fiction, futuristic technothriller authors that I read. They keep me engaged even when the storyline gets a little complicated and militarily complex. I commend them for telling well written, action-filled military stories, well-tied to current reality and futuristic technology. The military strategies, tactics, and revolutionary weaponry in this story are astonishing! Great details of the battle scenes with smart and creative scripting of the plot and storyline. Book six is one of the better tales of the series. I really enjoyed Monroe Doctrine: Volume VI and recommend it to technothriller readers as well as the entire eight-book series. I would also be remised not to mention the awesome book covers in this series. Probably the best in the military fiction genre!

This was an exciting author that I was turned onto by a Facebook group that I had joined back in the summer, Military Thriller Book Group , and when I had researched the author...he had reached out to me and had asked me to check out this latest series (and I am glad that I did !!!).

This book dealt primarily with the effects of the war of attrition has had on the United States (having to initialize a second operational pause due to shortage of munitions and equipment), the rise of the Terracotta Killers (the further development and final testing of) and finally, the planning and the beginnings of the final chapters of World War III- the invasion of the People's Republic of China (Taiwan).

This was another exciting chapter in a World War III tale, spliced with a minute amount of (potential) sci-fi, that reads as though it might be ripped from the headlines. I believe that this novel would be enjoyed by an action or international intrigue afficiendo and would easily rate this book a solid five stars out of five.

As with all my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents worth.

The authors deliver another terrific near-future WWIII story. As per the norm, here are the things Rosone and Watson excel at:

1) They write a truly epic story that weaves several narratives into one tight literary bow.
2) Their battle scenes are realistic and harrowing. Whether you’re in the cockpit or trudging through the jungle, it’s like you’re there.
3) Logistics – I know this is something James takes pride in. They get into the nitty-gritty of how to run a war. This heightens the realism of the story and for people who like broad-scope war novels, the detail is like cat nip for me (but don’t worry, it’s not too much – just enough);
4) International perspectives. This is perhaps my fav element of the Monroe Doctrine. It’s not just about the Americans. In every book, they’ve told the story from the perspective of various allied nations. In this book, it’s the Aussies get their turn and it’s extremely well done. The use of the Royal Australian Regiment, walking through the various involved ships, and etc. If you’re Australian, you would have been just thrilled by these sections of the book. I certainly was as a Canadian. As I listened to Monroe Doctrine, Book 6, this element was heightened by the excellent narration by Marc Vietor.

All in all, it was another riveting, well-written, realistic military thriller, and like the others that came before, I highly recommend it.

I love reading James Rosone and Miranda Watson's books they always are action packed and thought provoking. The Monroe Doctrine series is about the Chinese creating an AI call Jade Dragon that learns as it goes and has come up with a plan that will defeat America and Europe and make China the only Super Power. The Battle for Taiwan as come after the operational pause because of supply shortages and sabotage by Jade Dragon on the US's military industrial complex. Jade Dragon still has a few tricks up its sleeve. It uses sailors and Marines use of Twitter and Gaming apps to launch a devastating attack on the Allied invasion fleet. The Allies have captured the robotic scientist that help create Jade Dragon and Terracotta Robotic soldiers while she was in Taiwan doing some final tests on these Terminator type robots. Absolutely a most read that love a good political/military thriller.

Needs more work.

I've enjoyed the fantasy and detail of this novel of war against China in the near future. Having said that, I was frustrated by the lack of scrutiny given to sentence structure. Incomplete sentences were the main failure but also a lot of missing "the and of" message to properly form the sentence. I am not an English teacher, nor even astutely smart but I learned a long time ago to proof read my materials and then have someone else also review it. You can do better.

I really loved the first volume of this series it was inventive, plausible, and fast-paced. And, there were no editing errors!

Wow, things have changed. With each volume, there seems to be more repetition, editing errors, and just plain dreck.

It seems everyone has a nickname even if they're new to a unit. Perhaps a way to add to the word count?

I will likely read the final volume, but the truth is I think I know what happens to Jade Dragon and China.

I'm really disappointed, such a promising start. It seems as though Rosone ran out of ideas and decided to pad out the series.

awesome read!

All of the Monroe doctrine books are great! This one is the best of all in my opinion. The plot continues to be believable and the characters real, along with outstanding examples of actual combat scenes. The only issue I Have is that I have to wait for the next one! By the way, I am trying out other books by James rosone and I’m hopeful they will be just as good! read this series,

Outstanding!!

In the late 80’s I was once stuck at LaGuardia for about 8 hours, with 1000 or so fellow travelers. The only thing that made that experience livable was that Red Storm Rising had just come out in paperback. I have thought ever since that book is the gold standard for its kind.
This book is in the same league. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to go on to the next! Good job, authors!!

Even better than the first five volumes!

The war continues on but a air of realism is in this volume not in the others. You feel a sense of Destiny. The same characters continue to grow that have been in it from the beginning but have changed. I can't wait for the next installment.

Taiwan will soon be taken

Having set the invasion to be a multi-area invasion, it is hoped that the Allies can hit the chickens in so many places that they won't know where to send their reserves.

We are treated to follow-up info on how the invasion is moving ahead off the landing beaches. We learn the Allied plans to capture the Island and prepare invade the Mainland.

These books are really really good reading

I've read probably every book Ms Watson and Mr Toxins have published. But I'm 70 and having health issues now so I might be around for the final installment. So far so good as they say and hopefully I can finish the last book and read about Jade Dragon getting his comeuppance.

Monroe Doctrine is a GREAT series!

Do yourself a favor and start at the beginning. Every book has been an adventure, and one that I didn’t want to end. You know how it is with a great book—You are torn between devouring it, and wanting it to last.. Well, devouring them has won out every time.
Thank you James Rosen and Miranda Watson for your work on these!

Good story... However, the technical prose was a bit over the top. Additionally, the author goes into detail on cities, rivers, and terrain features during the invasion of Taiwan - a map or two would go a long way in understanding the invasion plan / plot of the story. Lastly, the jargon / character interaction the author uses, at times, can be silly.

Ditto.........

Just like the rest of the books in this series, you couldn't ask for better story telling from more than one point of view. You really feel you're right in the middle of the action at all levels. I'm not looking forward to the conclusion of this outstanding series.

And here

We are again. The latest instalment of this amazing was series. If I'd waited a month I'd have the final book to read now. But impatience got the better of me and before I knew it just as I was really getting ready for action I'm writing this. Absolutely enthralling series to read.

This series is well written

The series throughout has been somewhat technical but I have been able to visualize everything just fine, I don’t know if my previous military experience has anything to do with it or it’s my love of military history, but this series keeps me glued to the storylines. Very good read!

What was the name of that bomb?

I hate war stories, but for some reason I got into this series. I completely lost track of the names of everything and I wish that part had been simpler, but I still kept reading! The many similarities between the book and what is going on in the world today are chilling!

James Rosone does it again

I read a lot of science fiction and post apocalyptic books for my Writers of the Future Podcast, and the only author that really spoils me is James Rosone with his near-future science fiction epic— which is rapidly becoming a near future Armageddon prediction. I only hope this series remains a cautionary tale!
But I MUST finish his series!!

Wonderful. The robotization of warfare is already up and running. Scary and wonderful at the same time. The story line goes to the matter of sound education for our children to focus more on mathematics and science!!!

typos

The plot, the characters, the mix of strategy, and “just right” mix of detail are excellent. However, the high number of missing words and typos are so distracting that this book just cannot be rated at 5 stars.
