Ex's & Oh's

Rate this book
The best man is actually the worst.
My best friend is getting married, and I'd be remiss as the maid of honor and a successful event planner if I didn't make sure she has the best wedding ever.
My biggest hurdle?
The best man.
He's my worst nightmare all wrapped up in a suit—an old ex's best friend and an arrogant playboy who thinks he's God's gift to womankind.
The problem is, he's not entirely wrong. As a professional football player, he has plenty of experience getting women. He's sexy, flirty, and charming—when he wants to be. And also aggravating and irritating and in my business far too much of the time.
Our attraction is—unfortunately—undeniable. I know giving into him is a bad idea, but he convinces me anyway. Just once, to get it out of our systems.
Except when we end up stranded together on a remote island, once might not be enough ...
And maybe he's not the worst man after all.

Ex’s & Oh’s is a steaming hot enemies to lovers romance featuring a straight-laced events planner who knows exactly what she wants and the playboy athlete who shouldn't want her but does anyway. Lust, laughs, and an HEA guaranteed!

“You know, shit happens. But if you keep focusing on the past, you’re going to lose out on whatever happens right now.”

3 stars

Ultimately, this was a cute story about unrequited love and second chances, but it missed the mark for me. The beginning and middle felt too repetitive with the heroine going on about how she's single and loving it but also wants someone to love, while the hero is a player who doesn't believe in love. Classic hate-to-love-you trope ensues, but it just didn't work for me.

Even though the drama towards the end also felt overdone and extra, I actually liked Marc and Stacey more than the MCs. Their love story was interesting, and Stacey didn't come off as childish and annoying like Jenna. The blurb was also misleading as the "being stranded on an island together" barely lasted long enough for them to hook up. Overall, this was an okay story, but I don't see myself rereading it any time soon.

First time reading from this author... And sadly this didn't work out for me. Granted the blurb sounded amazing which was why I signed up for the ARC but the storytelling and writing was a struggle for me i was doing everything but reading. Jenna our MFC was annoying everyone was annoying things that were added as plot points and suspense were flops more random unnecessary shit was added that also was not needed or wanted. The hero was a douche bag and just kept saying he loved the signed life yet randomly he was always pinning for Jenna..

Just didn’t hit the mark
3 stars

This is my first book by Hazel Parker and, as far as I can figure, the first book in a new series. It stands completely alone and Jenna and Brett get their HEA at the end.

The premise of this book sounded so cute - I just couldn’t resist. And add to that fact that we learn very early on that Brett has harboured a little crush on Jenna for years. Enemies to lovers plus unrequited love? Sign me up! Sadly - this book just didn’t deliver it for me.

Jenna was a nice enough character - I didn’t have any complaints about her. Well, except her long held animosity towards Brett - who she blamed for breaking up her relationship with the love of her life…when she was 18. Can you hear my eyes roll? This was 10 years later and she was still hung up on it. It was…strange. But fear not, her monumental hatred for Brett disappeared within 5 minutes of them reuniting and suddenly they’re heading back to their hotel to get it on. Suddenly Jenna is making the realisation that she likes - nay loves - Brett and I was a little perplexed as to why. Not because he didn’t deserve love, but they’d spent little time together and hadn’t had any interactions of any depth. I didn’t believe it, frankly.

And so to Brett. It was like the author couldn’t really decide whether Brett was someone who didn’t believe in love and commitment, or someone who secretly pined for his best friend’s girlfriend for over a decade. But man, did we get told again and again that Brett was a manwh0re. Okay, we get it, already. And even when he was supposedly changing and falling for Jenna, he’d then get ‘giddy’ about the strippers and the night to come, nudge nudge, wink wink. He was something of a poster boy for STDs and I just couldn’t take to him.

There was plenty of sex between Jenna and Brett and I’m sure it was hot, but because I didn’t feel any depth or connection between our characters, it all fell a bit flat. And the ‘stranded on an island’ ended up being all of 3 hours long and hardly worth a mention in the blurb let alone being part of the plot. Except that they got to have sex in a rocky cave. More ouch than oh, baby!

There was just a massive disconnect for me with this book. It actually felt more like a proposal for a book and could really have done with someone scoring out great chunks of it and telling the author to show that the couple have depth, emotions and real feelings rather than tell. It also failed as it relied on plot points that just were not plausible. Jenna, the wedding planner and maid of honour, would definitely have known who was in the groom’s party. To be honest, she was shockingly incompetent as a planner and that just irritated me for some reason. And don’t get me started on the wholly unlikely plot point thrown in at the end.

I feel I have been very harsh in my review of this book but I think I’m more disappointed as it could have been so good. The writing was very good and certainly at the beginning, I was involved in the book and continued to eagerly pick it up to keep on reading. Even as I started feeling less enthusiastic about the book, it certainly wasn’t a chore to pick it up and read. The main thing wrong with the book was that it tried to do too much and that left us without the depth that was needed to believe in the love story of Jenna and Brett. A shame really, but only 3 stars from me.

This was the book that I needed to get my mood up. It wasn't an insta-love, because the characters knew each other from before, but for me it was like a fast burn.

We have Jenna - the wedding organizer for her friend Stacey's wedding in Hawaii and the best man - Brett from the groom's side. Like I said earlier, they knew each other from before and it was a total shock for them that they will both attend the wedding. From then on, we have sexy times, sparks flying and a crazy love that makes you swoon all over.

I liked that both of them didn't mess around and admitted their love when they realized it. There was some crazy moments with the secondary characters, but they were really fun for me.

Thank you Grey’s Promo for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

The blurb of this book caught my eye the most. You’re planning your best friends wedding, but your ex-boyfriends best friend happens to be the best man at said wedding? Words are exchanged and hurt from years ago come flying to the surface. That sold me. But the execution of this book fell incredibly flat. If I didn’t receive this book and ended up downloading it on KU…I probably wouldn’t have finished this book. That is as honest and as truthful as one can get

Jenna is a planner: parties, weddings, etc. Right off the bat she’s very one way or no way. She’s down in luck on love and blames a college ex on why. She calls him the one that got away and realizes that nobody compares. She blames her exes best friend on why they broke up (this is mentioned a few times, so hopefully you don’t forget it when it’s stated the first time). And that feeling of disdain comes rushing back when they comes face to face at the bar with the bridal party.

Brett has a reputation. Apart from being a football player, he’s known for having a way with the ladies and generally never committing to them for more than one night. He’s not a big fan of love and what love turns people into. He claims that love turns people weak. But as soon as he comes face to face with Jenna, all of his old feelings come back.

I love it when characters have growth. They can look at the past, talk about said past, and then move on from said past. But Jenna brought the past up so many times that I thought she was still living in it. I found myself skimming through her words a lot. Brett said to her that she could either focus on the past or move forward (or something like that). And it took her being drenched in the rain to come to that conclusion that she is stuck in the past. I liked Brett a lot more than Jenna. He was very upfront about who he is and he was very unapologetic about it. I couldn’t connect with Jenna as a character at all. She wasn’t very likable. She really didn’t have any redeeming qualities at all.

Something I don’t like in books is when characters can’t communicate properly. It’s known as the miscommunication trope and it’s highly disliked by myself (and others). Lines get crossed and feelings get hurt. And then a whole bunch of unnecessary drama ensues. I will say that had Brett told Noah (Jenna’s ex) what was going on, the big fallout could have been avoided. But it wasn’t. What was supposed to be the wedding of the year, turned into a complete disaster.

Spice? I love spice in books. But these were written in a way where I found myself tapping on my screen to get to the end. The scenes were too clinically written for me to think that their was any intimacy between Jenna or Brett.

ARC!

Now this is a first Hazel Parker book for me, so I wouldn't actually have any point of comparison.

Tropes:
-Second chance.
-Player.
-Sports romance.
-Destination wedding.
-Enemies to lovers.

Again, this was an ARC, and I read a couple of other reviews and tbh, i agreed with some of them. Now, do I feel this book is for everyone, no. This is definitely a enemies to lovers, with terrible communication skills.
Now, I'm biased as I also loved it. The book to me, was a perfect afternoon read. It had banter, each character fighting for their attraction for each other, chemistry, and even sappy cute parts.
Brett is this player (not only in the football field), who lives where the wedding is taking place, not only that he is the best man in the wedding.
Jenna is a organizer, turned wedding planner for her best friend and literally made her dream wedding come true.
Now, this two hated each other, not because someone did something wrong, it was solely based on Jenna dating Brett's best friend through HS.

On to good parts, their banter and attraction was really good. I could feel their connection, ESPCIALLY IN THE CAVE. I know that wouldn't be comfortable, but I just didn't care as I liked how it was written lol.
Now one of the things that I really didn't like, almost annoyed, was their bad communication skills. Like they are two whole adults, and they can't communicate their feelings.
Also, i really didn't like the plot twist. The lie that made Jenna's friendship with Stacey. Now the lie i didn't mind, just how it was played out. It felt rushed and honestly over dramatic, but I almost felt that with Stacey throughout the book, even though IF I understood correctly she wasn't even like that.
Anyhow, the writting of the book could've been polished a liiiiiitle bit more, but the plot and main story line was good and solid.

Again, great for a light read.

"The more I watch her laugh, the more I listen to her speak, the more I want to start over with her."

In high school, Jenna Hall and Brett Evans were enemies. She was Noah's girl and Brett was his best friend. The final straw was when Noah ditched Jenna to follow Brett to college on the other side of the country. Ten years later, Jenna is maid of honour (and the wedding planner) at her bestie's wedding and Brett is the best man. Sparks fly!

Loved the blurb for this book, as I'm a sucker for enemies-to-lovers, but I would have enjoyed a longer book so the relationship between Jenna and Brett had a bit more room to grow. She yearned for a loving committed relationship and he was a renowned player. It felt a little bit like they went from zero to sixty in a few short days. Don't get me wrong, I adore an insta-love story, but this wasn't supposed to be quite like that. They had history and baggage as enemies, and all that changed in a matter of days when they meet again for the first time in ten years. However, I enjoyed their dynamic, I enjoyed the drama that developed in the story, and I loved the HEA.

3.5* and here's why:
This story had huge potential - I mean who doesn't love an enemies to lovers/second chance romance.

Jenna and Brett have an interesting past and seeing each other again has brought many emotions that they need to resolve.
The push and pull was OK but something kept me from fully connecting to our MCs. Maybe it was his constant displeasure of being in a relationship. I liked Jenna and her way of controlling stressful situations. But when she lost her cool it seemed such a small thing to lose her cool over but OK. The best part I think was when they finally put it all in the open and were able to start fresh. It was this that made me see the potential that this author has.

This story wasn't a hit but it's a nice start for a first time reading by this author to come back and try another book.

I have to start by saying that the writing style was good.

It was the plot and characters that made this a low rating for me.

Sadly, this wasn't as good as I'd anticipated. The blurb sounded promising and hot honestly, but the first few chapters made me want to stop reading as the pace felt too slow and dragging. Both the characters were so stupid at times, and Brett irritated me because he was a jerk till the end. It felt like their feelings for each other were just "on the surface".

Thanks to Grey’s Promo for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not rating this book because I DNF’d it. The premise is fantastic, but I found the execution to be underwhelming. I didn’t like the characters and as a result I didn’t connect with the story or the world. I’m sad to say I had to push myself to read as far as I did.

One not for me read will not deter me from giving this author a chance with future books.

This was such a cute enemies to lovers story but with so many twists and turns. With a great cast of characters made this such a well rounded story and I really enjoyed this read. I didn’t see some of the things that occurred which made this a great read because I was like NO WAY!

Event planner Jenna Hall's best friend, Stacey, the daughter of a famous business mogul, is about to get married in Hawaii, and even though she specializes in corporate events, Jenna's volunteered to plan the wedding and run interference with Stacey's mother so that her bestie can relax and enjoy being a bride. When the rest of the wedding party arrives, maid of honor Jenna is surprised to recognize the best man, professional football player Brett Evans, as someone she knew in high school. In fact, she dated his best friend Noah until they split up to head off to different colleges. Jenna has always believed that Brett hated her and purposely tried to break her and Noah up back then, but the truth is a bit more complicated. He actually had a huge crush on Jenna and used to tease her because it was the only way he could get her attention. Realizing that their history could make the week awkward for the entire wedding party, Brett decides to apologize to Jenna for his past behavior. Even though she tries to ignore him, he finally manages to get her alone near the end of the evening, and the apology goes even better than he'd hoped; they end up returning to the hotel together and drunkenly hooking up. Brett realizes he still has feelings for Jenna, but his reputation as a player precedes him. Is he willing to change his ways for a chance at a future with the one who got away?

This is a tough review to write because I was really looking forward to reading this book based on the fun synopsis, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. There were so many details about the story that didn't make sense. For example, as the wedding planner, Jenna absolutely should have been familiar with the guest list and members of the wedding party in advance. How could she not have known that Brett was the best man until they got to Hawaii the week of the wedding? Not only that, Stacey and her fiance Marc had apparently been dating for years. Did their friend groups really never socialize in all that time? How did Jenna and Brett not realize that they had friends in common long before they got to the wedding?

I never really connected with Brett and Jenna as a couple, either. Considering that she held a grudge against him for 10 years, I had a tough time believing that Jenna would be so quick to jump into bed with Brett (literally the same night they first saw each other again!). It was only a day or so later that she supposedly had to force herself to hold on to the memories of his rotten behavior in high school so that she wouldn't start liking him too much for who he was now. They spent basically no meaningful time together, so how would she know who he was now? (I, however, knew that he was a total manwhore who had no interest in relationships, because it was explained ad nauseam throughout the first part of the book.)

After reading the book's synopsis, one might think that there would be plenty of time for Jenna and Brett to get to know each other again while they were "stranded together on a remote island." The truth is that they were "stranded" for a couple of hours at most - long enough to hook up (in an uncomfortably damp, rocky cave of all places), but not much else. For a lot of reasons, that encounter did not come across as sexy to me. It felt almost...mechanical. (Also: Dude's a total manwhore, but not once did they use - or even discuss - condoms. Gross.) Bottom line, like everything else with Brett and Jenna's relationship, it all happened way too fast, and there was too much telling and not enough showing. While their physical connection was apparent, I never felt a true emotional connection between them.

There's a lot more about this story that bothered me (the IMO unnecessary drama with Stacey and Marc near the end comes to mind), but the one specific thing that I feel compelled to mention is that there seemed to be a lot of confusion about how American football (especially the business end of it) actually works. First of all, there's no way that Marc's team would have allowed him to schedule his wedding - much less his honeymoon! - in the middle of the season. Among other reasons, it would have been too much of a distraction for the players and caused them to lose too much practice/game prep time. Second, coordinating travel for a professional team and its staff is ridiculously complicated, and they usually don't arrive for games until the day before so they can practice in their own facilities in advance. No one "accidentally" double books a practice field, and there's no such thing as a "friendly" between opposing teams before the actual game. If the visiting team has to arrive in town early for some reason, they make arrangements to practice at a local college or high school. Third, it's not that easy for a player to change teams, especially in the middle of the season. Teams can't just approach players and tell them that they want to "buy" them. The player either has to be a free agent and sign a new contract, or the two teams involved have to negotiate a trade. Finally, star players like Brett make so much money over the course of their career (from endorsements as well as their actual salaries) that they'll never have to work again after they retire, unless they want to or are really stupid with their spending and investments. Brett freaking out about "having to get an office job" after his retirement seemed pretty silly. Given his popularity, he'd have his pick of broadcasting (and probably coaching) jobs if he wanted them.

I hate writing negative (and long) reviews like this one, but I was really disappointed to be let down after the synopsis had me so excited to read the book. The story had a ton of potential but ultimately failed to deliver. While I can't recommend "Ex's and Oh's," I would give the author's books another try in the future.

I thought this was such a fun romance. Jenna is such a sweetheart and she really wants the best for everyone. However, I do feel she is a bit immature as she holds a grudge against Brett who wronged her from high school. Brett does have a bit to apologize for, but has his reasons. The chemistry between Jenna and Brett is sizzling hot, and sparks fly in and out of the bedroom. There were some unexpected twists that throw some misunderstandings and roadblocks, but just makes the story more interesting.

The blurb for this book has me really eager to read this book, but unfortunately the book was a huge disappointment in so many ways.

The main and secondary characters are extremely hard to like. Jenna is both the Maid of Honor and wedding coordinator for her best friend’s society destination wedding in Hawaii. She seemingly knows few details about who is actually in the wedding party, and they seem to be finalizing most of it less than two weeks before the big day. A destination wedding for 500 guests in Hawaii with celebrities and high society who’s who attending would have a wedding planning team at the resort/venue and it would be planned to the Nth degree well before the event.

The best friend and her fiancée have been together for years yet it’s never come up that Marc knew let alone was best friends with two guys Jenna went to high school with, and one she actually dated for over a year?! The ‘wedding planner’ who was asked to figure out the seating chart would have the entire guest list and would have likely asked when she saw an ex-boyfriend’s name listed among the wedding party, right?

Brett is a manwhore who apparently has been in love with Jenna since he first saw her over 10 years ago in high school, yet he’s only interested in one-night hookups with whatever willing woman he can get into his bed.

These two go from enemies to in love in the blink of an eye with barely any interactions or conversation. The writing is more narrative and tells the reader what took place or what happened versus showing the storyline as it happens - it’s the difference from feeling the story, emotions and all, and just hearing about it with minimal engagement with the emotions of the storyline.

The male characters have the same stilted awkward conversation repeatedly when they get together. Surely they have more to say among friends than the same two or three lines - not topics, actual lines of dialogue.

I really don’t like to write reviews as negative as this one and I very rarely do because reading books and deciding you like it or not is about personal preferences and taste. What I like or love, you may hate - and the reverse is equally possible. This book was definitely not to my liking, and I honestly had to force myself to finish skimming the story because I had made the commitment to read an ARC and provide an honest review.

This has so much potential and the blurb raised my expectations, but the actual product left me totally disappointed in the experience.

I received an ARC from Grey’s PR and I am voluntarily leaving a review. This was my first book by the author, and unfortunately I think it may have also been my last.

📖 ARC REVIEW 📖
Review: 4.5/5 ⭐️
Steam: 4/5 🔥

#exsandohs by #hazelparker is a new standalone coming soon. This is my first book by this author.

Brett is living the bachelor life. He talks a big game to everyone around him about how it’s the best and relationships are for the weak. Why would you want to be bossed around by someone and not get to live your life? He’s off to his best friends wedding and ready to party and continue to hook up. Until there she is. The girl he’s pined over since high school. The girl he tormented. The girl who hates him. Needing to be civil for the sake of the wedding, what can go wrong? Throw in some hostile feelings, alcohol and sexual tension, sparks will fly. Now he needs to decide if maybe after all, someone to love isn’t so bad.

Jenna has worked hard for where she is. She’s planning her besties wedding, making a name for herself and seeing where things go. A hopeless romantic only goes so far. She thought she’d marry her high school sweetheart, until he leaves her for college and doesn’t look back. Now, the man she’s blamed for that breakup for the last 10 years is in front of her. In the wedding party with. She needs to put aside her differences. But after spending time with him, maybe everything she thought was all wrong. But can her heart withstand the drama filled explosion that’s about to happen?

This is my first book by this author and honestly I was very pleasantly surprised! This book kept me interested the entire time. I had to stay up all night to finish it. The relationship between Brett and Jenna was fire. Brett finally showing emotion and Jenna put aside her damn stubbornness. There chemistry was off the charts. There was definitely some parts that threw me for a loop, that I didn’t expect but loved. Absolutely recommend this book!

I owe this gem to another subscription email I received. It fit with the typical theme I go for plus the plot spoke to me. I actually discovered a different book in this series first but found it wasn’t the first story so I decided to start it. In the beginning, it was hard for me to get into. I couldn’t tell you why or what triggered it, it just wasn’t speaking to me. Maybe it was an overkill of positivity that sounded fake after a while and I grew tired of it. The story itself was intriguing, but I just didn’t care for the beginning. When Jenna and Brett meet again this was when it started to hold my interest and I found myself reading more and wanting to know what will come of it. Their relationship ends up growing but there was hesitation all around from both Brett and Jenna. The feelings they started developing for each other were foreign to them and they didn’t know how to express it or if they should even welcome it. Brett was a bit more stubborn about his feelings at first but then slowly accepted them and let it flow. Jenna was more willing to embellish her emotions and put her heart on the line. As the story progresses the truth gets held back from both Jenna and Brett when it came to situations they found themselves in. It wasn’t the fact that they were dishonest with each other, just withholding the full picture of what was going on. All of this comes to fruition near the end of the story, changing the typical plot that sets the main characters apart and I found this interesting. I wanted to read what will come of this and find that each character is responsible for what happened. It was exciting to read about how drama is caused by more people than your typical main man and woman. However, since the beginning was hard to get into, this book garners a 4 for me and I couldn’t get past it. I can’t wait to see how Noah’s story plays out in the next book.

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: Ex’s & Oh’s
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
AUTHOR: Hazel Parker
TROPE: contemporary romance, enemies to lovers, sports romance
TYPE: Standalone
POV: Multiple POV
MY RATING: 4.0 Stars

The story takes place mostly over the course of the wedding between Stacey and Marc. Jenna and Stacey are best friend. She’s flown into Hawaii to help plan the wedding. Brett is Marc’s best man and fellow NFL football player. He’s been asked to help the maid of honour plan the wedding to alleviate some of the stress from the bridge. When the Jenna and Brett come face to face again, they are thrown back into how they felt 10 years prior as enemies. Jenna used to date Brett’s best friend in high school. When the pair broke up, Brett went off to Miami and Jenna stayed in LA. The two of them always couldn’t stand to be in the same room as one another. Now that they’re being forced to spend time together for the sake of the wedding…can they put their past behind them?

The story was fast paced when it came to steam. I appreciated that it wasn’t drawn out. The characters Jenna and Brett seamed to have great chemistry. I would have liked a little more hateful banter back and forth between the pair. It felt like he was a jerk to her in high school and she quickly overlooked it. The story was fast paced and threw in some curve balls along the way. I thought that it had a really sweet ending. Felt like everything just fell into place for these two. There weren’t really any hard relationship decisions thrown there way.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was easy to read and had plenty of spice. The dialogue between the characters was great.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A wedding in Hawaii? Who wouldn't want that?

Jenna was the wedding coordinator and MOH for her best friend, Stacey. Brett was the best man and played professional football with the groom, Marc. Stacey, was trying to play matchmaker and set Jenna up with the Best Man, but when she said his name, it was an automatic NO for Jenna. Men named Brett were bad news and nothing good ever came from a Brett.

"Sounds like an asshole." What?" "Why?" "I knew a Brett once in high school. He was a total dick."

Back in high school, Brett helped convince Jenna's boyfriend, Noah, of 4 years to move to Florida to tryout for college football. Noah went and left Jenna heartbroken. Little did Jenna know that Brett always liked Jenna and was so disappointed that he didn't make the first move like his friend, Noah. Did I mention that Noah was going to be a groomsman as well?! Lots of drama in this book.

After having too much to drink, Brett and Jenna end up having to ride out a storm (and each other) in a cave. Their old hatred turns into something more and keeps growing. One of the things I liked most about this book was Jenna. She was a strong, independent woman who stood up for herself. I think it's great to see strong women in books that we read, it's definitely something that kept me hooked on this story.

Jenna and Brett did not have a slow burn romance.. it was hard and fast, the way they both like it. I loved how high school enemies become later in life lovers. It was fun reading about how their love for each other grew.

EX's &; OH's is a cute book and easy read. If you want a fast enemies to lovers book this it. I can't wait to read more from Hazel Parker.

"I can’t believe this is my first ever book by Hazel. Honestly I must have been living under a rock because she has written quite a few books previous to this one.
This book first attracted me because it was referred to as a sports romance novel. And it is that for sure, and it does have enough of on field action that kept this sports mad person happy. But truthfully it was the enemies to lovers trope that I enjoyed the most. Jenna has disliked Brett for over a decade, so it made for some wonderful reading with this pair being thrust back into each other’s lives.
The whole storyline was engaging, there was just the right amount of spice which I didn’t have to wait for until the book was basically over, plus so many more things that made this the terrific story it ended up being. I really didn’t want it to end. Hazel is definitely on my radar now and I will be keeping my eyes open waiting for her next release. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This story was a fast page turning read. While the MOH for her Bestie, Jenna finds herself immersed in her past with 2 ex's and the one guy Brett, she always thought hated her currently giving her all the Oh's! Yup, what begins as "sleeping with the enemy" quickly turns into true love. There is a lot of angst and love in this story. At times I wanted to smack a few characters on the back of their heads, but eventually they all figured it out and became better people for it. You can't help but wish for Jenna and Brett along with Stacey and Marc to get their HEA's. ~Cindy

I don't know how much to pay attention to the blurb because it seemed a bit confusing. This is a Romance of opposites that attract each other, almost enemies at the wedding of their best friends
.
It was spicy, it was fun and I liked that the conflict did not go through a cliché an exposed envelope great gesture later
.
.
.
Jenna work organizing events in Los Angeles and after several years working for others she is ready to start her own business starting with her best friend's wedding in Hawaii, which will give her the media boost she needs
.
But being the planner and maid of honor of a rich and demanding family can be quite a challenge and come with certain surprises like not meeting the best man in person and that he just happens to be the best friends of her ex-boyfriend from high school, and her nemesis who was always ready to annoy her
.
Nothing goes as expected even if the flowers are perfect, and the paparazzi are around at all hours without capturing any scandal. In a series of strange events Jenna finds herself in Hawaii with several of her exes and a chance to find love and the perfect person for her
.
.
.
I enjoyed reading this book, the descriptions of Hawai, how she finds love and the chemistry between them, but I didn't like the secondary characters and how the stay glued to the main love story

Thanks to Hazel Parker and Greys Promotion for give me this great book in exchange for my honest opinion I really enjoyed reading it

Jenna and Brett have known each other for a long time since she dated his best friend in high school but when they broke up she always blamed Brett for their demise. What Jenna never knew was as she held onto her hatred for Brett, he always harbored a crush on her. Now years later she is in Hawaii as a wedding planner organizing her best friend’s wedding and she is face to face with Brett. As they navigate an attraction and trying to figure out the past they start to form a bond that starts to lead to more, but with so much happening with paparazzi, secrets, momzilla to the bride can they make this work or is the past too difficult to come to terms with? Jenna held on to her high school relationship and her hatred towards Brett for far too long that it was a tad annoying. Brett was such a sweetheart but had a few hang ups about relationships that lead him to trouble, but Jenna getting upset about him not telling his best friend (her ex from years ago) about them was a little too much because they literally just started to get somewhere that kind of trust isn’t built in a day. Overall this was a sweet read with steamy moments I just wished Jenna was a little more mature about handling things and not taking responsibility for her own actions.

Since Hazel Parker is a new author to me so I decide to read her book based on a blurb which I found it's very interesting or at least it should be fun. Well, it's still interesting but I think it has a lot of angst and is a little bit messy with exes. Jenna is a wedding planner for her best friend who is going to marry a famous athlete who happens to be best friend with Brett, Jenna's enemy in high school. When I read it is about second chance, I thought Brett and Jenna had a history together but their history isn't what I think at all. What I like is both Jenna and Brett are mature enough to move on from their past and give into their chemistry. I maybe not impressed with Brett's hiding an important information from Jenna but I'm happy for him to finally get Jenna to be his. I'm also not impressed with Jenna when she don't tell her best friend about her then fiance which make the story turns to be angstier and messier than its necessary. But the book is well written and even if the plot seems to be messy, I like Parker's writing style so I'm looking forward to read her next book :)

Ex’s & Oh’s is the classic story of guy and girl who hate each other but in reality the guy has secretly been in love with the girl for forever but they can’t be together. Jenna was Brett’s best friend’s girl aka the one that got away and now 10 yrs later they are the maid of honor and best man at their friends wedding. Can they put a decade’s worth of animosity behind them and start over or do old habits die hard?

Jenna and Brett have a steamy connection but aren’t the greatest communicators and certainly jump to conclusions which caused some issues that could have been avoided. After they worked out their issues you could tell they were willing to give their relationship a real shot especially after helping their friends out. I have the feeling this might be the first book in a new series with the next book involving one of the bridesmaids but we will just have to wait and see.

Brett and Jenna hated each other in high school, and now they are seeing each other again for the first time in ten years at their best friends wedding.

Jenna is planning the ultimate wedding for her best friend. Little did she know that the best man is the person that made her life miserable in high school. But sometimes, hate can be a disguise for attraction and love.

I really enjoyed this story. It was not an instalove type story, but they were definitely attracted to one another very quickly. It was very fast paced with a lot of steam. The two of them could not keep their hands off of each other. They had great chemistry and really talked about the past and what they are feeling now.

I just wish that Jenna would stop bringing up what happen 10 years ago. I mean it was 10 years ago girl, get over it. Also, they started out communicating great, but then that stopped all of the sudden.

Overall, it was a great story that was fast paced with a lot of steam!!

First time reading from this author...And sadly this didn't work out for me. Granted the blurb sounded amazing which was why I signed up for the ARC but just couldn't get into the story, it was a struggle for me.
Jenna is both the Maid of Honor and wedding coordinator for her best friend’s society destination wedding in Hawaii.
The best friend and her fiancée have been together for years yet it’s never come up that Marc knew let alone was best friends with two guys Jenna went to high school with, and one she actually dated for over a year?!
Jenna and Brett have an interesting past and seeing each other again has brought many emotions that they need to resolve.
Brett is a manwhore who apparently has been in love with Jenna since he first saw her over 10 years ago in high school, yet he’s only interested in one-night hookups with whatever willing woman he can get into his bed.
I received an ARC from Grey’s PR and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

She’s still mad at him after 10 years!

Jenna and Brett knew (and disliked) each other in high school but when he convinced her boyfriend to leave her after high school, she lost everything and she blamed him. Now he’s a famous football player and a player and he’s looking forward to being the best man at his friend’s wedding. But Jenna is the bride’s best friend is planning the wedding so the two are thrown together. Brett secretly had the hots for Jenna but she was seriously wounded by what he did. But in the interest of peace and a great wedding for their friends they decide to call a truce. Both of them are different now and they find themselves much more attracted to each other than they expected. Throw some alcohol onto the unlit sparks between them and there is an explosion. I liked both characters and love that the both grew emotionally since high school. Now they are adults and they can’t possibly predict what’s about to happen. Fun, fast read.

Jenna's best friend is getting married and she's the maid of honor as well as event planner. She is hoping that all goes well since this will be a high society wedding and could get her business up and going much faster. What she didn't plan on was her ex's best friend being the best man, a guy who she blames broke up her relationship 10 years ago. Brett Evans is a cornerback playing for the Hawaiian Rainbow Warriors pro football team and is a playboy who doesn't do relationships. He has crushed on Jenna for years but she thinks he hates her until one night they get together to get it out of their systems but will that be enough? The attraction is there but.....

First time reading with this author and I enjoyed the story. There are some laugh out loud parts, lots of heat and some oh no's!

A book that had me laughing hard and banging my head at various occasions. It's filled with Ex's and a lot of confusion. A wedding disaster in the making with all the miscommunication.

I liked Brett's character as he accepts himself for who he is and does not sugar coat. He is upfront and open about what he wants and what he can give. He understands what's being lonely even when surrounded by people.

Jenna isn't one of my favourites in the book. Although it's her Best friends wedding things were more about her. Then she held a grudge for years which wasn't actually Brett's fault. Later when she ends up spilling the beans to Stacey on her wedding day she still blames Brett.

It's a lovely story in beautiful setting with some great characters. Even with all the secrets and miscommunications I loved the story.

I received an ARC copy for a honest review 😊.

Jenna is the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding, and being a successful events planner, she is determined to make this a wonderful event, and she is not happy when she meets the best man Brett, whom she has hated for over a decade. Jenna used to date Brett’s friend and when things did not work out, she blames him, and now her nemeses Brett, is a charming playboy who is a professional football player. These two are complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written story which has engaging and relatable characters, and is an enemies / lovers’ story, with twists, secrets, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to a sweet and entertaining addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
