How do you tell the guy you love, the most honest guy you've ever met, that you're a con artist?
You wait until you get snowed in together and let him figure it out for himself.
Candace Williams grew up with a con artist who pulled her into the life. At twenty-seven, Candy decided she'd had enough and reinvented herself in Granite Springs, Colorado.
She thought she could start over. She wanted to start over with Jack Hoffman, a property attorney with ocean deep blue eyes, ready wit, and an angel and no devil on his shoulder.
The only problem is, the life isn't giving her up.
Jack Hoffman broke up with Candy over a year ago, and it about killed him, but he couldn't take the drama, the lies, and the disappearances anymore. A few weeks after their break up, she left and he hasn't seen her since.
Until tonight. At the Christmas concert Jack attends with his best friends Mila and Freddie every year. Candy's on the arm of a very wealthy, very mean, and much older man suspected of criminal ties.
Jack barely recognizes her. Her red locks are now blond, and she's dripping in diamonds.
That is until halfway through the concert when he sees her trying to sneak out the back of the building in a waitress uniform, with her hair magically transformed to brown.
To bad for her the snow's been piling up and they're trapped. Again. But good news for Jack, who's determined to get to the bottom of this.
And his desire to do so has nothing to do with the fact that just the sight of her makes his heart race, makes him feel alive, and hopeful like he hasn't in a year.
And he's certainly not going to listen to Mila, who swears Candy's reappearance is a Christmas miracle, or Freddie telling him to man up and get her back.
Nope, he's done. But . . . who knows how long they'll be snowed in?
A second-chance romance that will have you giddy for Christmas music, hijinks, and miracles.
Ellie Thornton is an award-winning author who has been writing since she could lift a pencil and making up stories even longer than that.
For years she worked part-time jobs so she would always have time to write, read, and travel. Some of her favorite filler jobs include working as an editor, at a nursery (flowers not children,) as a driving instructor (not as harrowing as one might think,) writing a blog called Confessions of a Property Manager, and being a ghost tour guide.
She loves mysteries (reading and writing them) and especially enjoys the ones with sweet romance involved. Her "Reboot Mystery Series," (Previously known as "The Contemporary Reboot Series,") is a mystery series that takes classics like "Pride and Prejudice," "The Count of Monte Cristo," "Jane Eyre," and "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" puts them in a modern setting and adds a murder mystery and a love story that builds from one book to the next. (Not an easy feat!)
She's currently super into honey and beeswax and everything bee related as she is writing a book for Gelato Publishing's Halloween Sweet Romance Series, "Pumpkins and Proposals." Her main character is a beekeeper and owns a business that's all about honey, and beeswax related products. And again, because she loves a good mystery, you'll also find some intrigue there too.
She also writes a writing, editing, and marketing blog for authors under the name Emily Clark called Write of Passages.
If she's not at her computer, you can typically find her reading, listening to podcasts, at the local library, in her garden, in her kitchen, or with her sister and her sister's kids.
Another great installment to the series. Candy had lived a life as a con artist but paid her dues to society. Now all she wants is to finish her degree and never run another con. She and Jack had been together a year when her mother called needing her help to stay out of trouble yet again so she leaves and loses Jack in the process. A year later they are thrown together in a situation they may not survive.
Yay! There are books for Mila’s best friends. (Or will be once the author’s completely done with them.) This time Jack steps forward and takes center stage in this tale of deception and double-crosses. It’s also a remarkably unconventional second chance between Jack and Candy, but I’m in for pretty much any kind of second chance storyline. I loved how this book kept me guessing, trying to figure out what was really going on. And even though I know romances require a Happy Ever After, all the way up to the end I wasn’t sure if our leading couple was going to get theirs. Perhaps even more important than the “if”, I wasn’t sure HOW they were going to pull it off. Now that we have two of the best friends happily coupled up, I’m impatiently waiting to see what it takes for the third. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
After meeting Jack Hoffman in the previous book, Snowed In at the Archive, by this author, I was excited to read his story. This is a multi author series. Reading that previous book isn't necessary but will give you a better idea of the three childhood friends in this book, Jack, Mila and Freddie. This story also takes place at Christmas but it is a year later.
Candace Williams grew up with a con artist mother who trained her from a young age into that lifestyle. She no longer wanted to live that life and moved away from her family to Granite Springs, Colorado. She has changed and now is a believer who goes to church and reads her Bible. She also has a wonderful relationship with Jack Hoffman. Her mother keeps trying to pull her back into her old lifestyle by calling her when she gets herself into trouble. When she has had to leave town a few times to help her mother, she doesn't want Jack to know what she was involved with. The latest call from her mother has her leaving town and has destroyed her relationship with Jack. One year later to save her mother from a very evil man, she has to go back to Granite Springs at Christmas to help discover a hacker.
Jack Hoffman broke up with Candy over a year ago, when it was obvious she was leaving town again. Her times of disappearing reminded him of how his mother abandoned him and his father for another man. Jack cannot forget her and his feelings for her haven't changed. So when he and his friends go the annual Christmas concert, he is surprised to find her there with a different hair color hanging on the arm of a very wealthy man who is known for his criminal ties.
When a bad snow storm closes down the roads to the concert hall, the peo0ple inside are trapped. Piper discovers that the man she came with had plans to kidnap the hacker. She needs help and finally reveals her past to Jack.
Will Piper and Jack be able to reconcile their relationship? Will help come before the situation they are in turns violent?.

What happens when Jack finds out the truth about Candy.I could not put down this book with secrets, suspense, mystery, danger and a romance woven into it all with characters who deserve a happily ever after. So many twists and turns as this storyline plays out. Candy was brought up by a con artist mother and decided to change her life and start fresh in a new town. She met Jack and was happy, but her mother kept trying to pull her back in. The relationship was going south as Candy kept disappearing to deal with her mother. Now, a year later, she returns to town and it all culminates at the Concert Hall. The characters are terrific, complex and have great backstories. The storyline has drama, danger from guns and kidnapping, surprises, betrayals, revelations, a hacker plot and much more. You can not put this book down as the action pulls you in deeper. Loved the ending as it all ties together with some final twists. Can not wait to read more by this author.

Candy was a flawed person. She had secrets that she didn't want anyone to find out, especially her boyfriend, Jack. So, when she left again a year ago without an explanation to Jack, he was done. Candy was determined to protect him. Now, it's a year later and she is back in Granite Springs for one last thing she has to do to help her mother and then she is walking away from all the secrets in her life. Has she become too embroiled in her mother's drama to allow for escape, though. Will Jack ever be able to forgive her for not being honest with him? Will they both make it out of this situation alive? Only time and a good read will tell.
The secondary characters in this book are wonderful, too. It was a quick, clean read with a happy ending.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
I've read several books written by Ellie Thornton; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Candace Williams was a con artist who wanted to give it up and start over. She already had lost the love of her life, Jack Hoffman, but her mother keeps pulling her back into it and was the cause for her breakup with him when she had to keep disappearing on him.
Now she is at a Christmas concert where Jack is attending with friends. He sees Candy with an older man suspected of criminal ties. Then he spots her again sneaking out the back door in a waitress uniform! But the storm is snowing them in and she won’t be able to leave. Jack wants to find out what’s going on with her. What is she up to? And why should he want her back in his life?
How do you tell the guy you love, the most honest guy you’ve ever met, that you’re a con artist?
You wait until you get snowed in together and let him figure it out for himself.
Warning, once you start you can't put it down. This story line will captivate you from page one and pull you in more and more with every turn of the page. A romantic suspense, page turning adventure that has you sitting on the edge of your seat. A great read for a weekend curled up on the couch with a good book while the snow falls softly outside.

Candy was an imperfect character. She has secrets and is ashamed of her past. She was a better person than me letting her mother suck her back into her awful world and losing her happy life in Granite Springs because of it. Even though he loved her Jack wasn't perfect either. He was suspicious of Candy because she kept taking off for a while and not telling him why. Maybe he thought she was like his mom and going to abandon him too. There was plenty of suspense as they try to outsmart the bad guys and save each other.
Candy has a black past. What would you say if somebody you love, "...told you that..." She'd "...spent most of..." her "life... lying to, cheating, and manipulating people?..." She'd "...done time for fraud... ".
Could you still love her? Would you want to spend the rest of your life with her?
Is this what is facing Jack? What will he decide? A brief enthralling novella with the answers to all of these questions!.

The chapters switch between Candace and Jack, following both of their perspectives and their romantic interests for each other. Their relationship ended a year earlier but their coincidental reunion sparks a second chance. Initially, the timeline is non-linear to give background behind the characters, particularly Candace. There is plenty of mystery and romance featured in this book taking place in one location: the concert hall.

Candace Williams and Jack Hoffman meet again at a Christmas concert. They where a couple until a year ago when he broke them up because of things she was doing. He came to the concert with his best friends Mila and Freddie. They get snowed in when a murder happens. Their story has suspense, drama, danger, villains and a second chance. The story is well written and kept me turning pages. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She's a con artist trying to go straight with her new found life under Christ. Her mother keeps calling her back to a life of crime. Then there's a super criminal who manufactures and sells opioids. Ellie Thornton has her readers wondering what will happen next. A romance with twists galore.
WOW! What a wonderful read! Candace and Jack's story hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It's a page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, you will love this book. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
This was a great read about second chances and forgiveness. I read the one before this, so I knew a little of the back story between the main characters. However, I do not think that you would have to read it first. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and this series.

Good book. Candy and Jack were in love until he got tired of the drama, lies and all the shadiness that came with it, he broke up with her. When they see each other again, can he make her do what's right? This book was worth the read.

A great action-packed story for someone who usually reads Happily Ever After tropes. I enjoyed the story line and how Candy worked through her past to get her to her stable future. A great story but who was KN167??? That wasn't revealed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is another exciting Christmas suspense romance when Candy and Jack meet up again after a year and are trapped at the concert hall during a snow storm at gunpoint. Well written, exciting story with delightful characters. Hopefully Frankie will also get his own story.
LOVED this book of Candy and Jack’s story. There were so many things that kept me turning the pages as Jack and Candy FINALLY learn how they can depend on each other in ways they never expected. A great read.

Candace just wants a normal life but her con artist mother keeps pulling her in. Jack her ex boyfriend loves her no matter what but he needs her to clean up her life. This story has lots of unexpected twists and turns and some sweet romance.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from Hidden Gem Books.
I love the mix of romcom, adventure, and suspense! I love the way the friends work together, too. No questions asked aside from “how can I help?” And, of course, we get a swoony HEA.
A delightful story! A great storyline and a sweet romance. I just wish things were that easy to get people to do the right thing. But who is the hacker? Love the series!
This novel, with its drama filled plot was an engrossing read. The characters were a perfect match of serious and sassy and the narrative was at an easy readable pace. I would recommend this novel.
