Hermione convinces Draco to spy for the Order and she becomes his handler. But what are Draco’s true motivations? Hard to say when he's still figuring that out himself. A story of reaching adulthood during war.
The first third of this was good. But overall, the fic was entirely too long with too many pop culture references. The pacing was god awful, and in my opinion, Draco was far too soft. I ended up skimming the last half of Thai, and even then it was unbearably long. Speaking of unbearable, the fan art posted in this fic was painful to endure. It did get better in the end, but it was comical in the beginning. The badly photoshopped images were jumpscares.
this fic could have easily replaced actual ending of the 6th and the entire 7th book. draco turned as a spy for the order just would have made so much of a better storyline 😭😭
ETA: the fact that draco’s introduction to the muggle world was seeing star wars in theaters made my nerd heart so unbelievably happy. i just know he would’ve hated the prequels 😂
I would say this is a close second to Manacled by senlinyu. It's not as angsty or as dark but it still is overall a great dramione fic. From Wilshire, With Love takes place after the events of The Half Blood Prince and takes place during the events of The Deathly Hallows. Mistresslynn definitely did her research both from the main series and from other fics. It was also exceptionally well written. One plus that this fic has that Manacled did not is that we get both Hermione's and Draco's perspectives. Also Tonks is an absolute BAMF in this fic.
“Would I love you if you were evil?” He stared at her, eyes soft and full of pain. “No.” Her throat tightened. She tried to swallow but couldn’t. Finally, she was able to speak. “Can you hold onto that?”
I made it to the end of chapter 6 before I just couldn't with it anymore. I want to be into Dramione, but this just isn't it. I rarely can with fanfics that change the og plot and this just completely disregards it. Then there's just that it's not all that sexy. What I did like was the way Draco's mom was written.
From Wiltshire, with Love by Mistresslynn takes place after the Astronomy Tower in Half-Blood Prince. In an early part of the war, Hermione Granger convinces Draco Malfoy to become a spy for the Order and she becomes his handler.
This one seemed very long and (in my opinion) had some pacing issues. Overall it was okay, and some of the kink wasn't my favorite. In the end, I was more interested in the side characters than what was going on with Draco and Hermione.
What I liked about this Fanfic? • I loved Draco and Hermione at the beginning and the end. Some parts in the middle were a little cringy for me. • The muggle dates were my absolute favorite. I adored seeing Draco explore a love of outer space and science fiction, and thought it was neat to see him start an appreciation for muggle art. • Kingsley Shacklebolt. He was a Slytherin politician through and through. This is currently my favorite version of Kingsley. • Seeing the entire Slytherin crew throughout the war. Especially Crabbe, Goyle, and Millicent Bulstrode. Millie is amazing in this story btw. • Tonks! She is so bada** in this fic! I also love that she takes responsibility for her actions and shows that even the heroes have to own up to their misdeeds. • Theo is so snarky and silly. I love his running gags. • Blaise and his mom have a great storyline.
Solid 3 stars. This book was a good read and was interesting enough that I managed to read the whole nearly 900 page novel but there were parts where I felt the story was a bit boring. Not my fave fan fic, the first half of the book I felt was really good but then it dragged out a bit. I am a bit annoyed that it was so long, it’s literally twice the length of the deathly hallows which is what book it’s fitting in with. If this book was to be published the publisher would cut half of the scenes in this book.
Listen, this was a 800 page fanfic and IT WILL be logged on my Goodreads and count towards my reading goal.
Life is too short, and I have no shame.
Anyways, loved the first half of this and I was soo immersed into the plot. I LOVE the self awareness of our characters and their journey as individuals. Second half was sooo lengthy, but did tie everything up very well. Epilogue was so unserious tho 😂
I love the muggle outings, the star wars shirt, the 1984 references, the crucible references and Draco being offended at being compared to John Proctor. Warmed my heart 🥰💗
One question though, what does the title have to do with the book?! 😭 someone plz explain
This was a very compelling story. It gripped me from the very beginning. I will say that i felt a bit lost regarding some side characters since I haven't watched or read anything HP. I've only read fanfics. With that said I'm 99% sure this Draco is my favorite one from all the Dramione fics I've read so far. In the beginning he is your typical Draco, a snob with pure-blood ideals and everything that comes with it. However he knows he was coerced into his current situation and although he believes the same ideals as his father as well as Voldemort, he knows what the dark lord is doing isn’t right but that is further reinforced when Hermione helped him one time and strikes a deal with him so that he becomes a spy for the order. One of the things i loved the most was Draco learning that what he believed all of his life was a lie and not the right thing to believe and the best part of it was that this thought process came from himself just by being in Hermione's muggle home for the meeting with her. He started reading her books and questioning everything he believed in and whenever he came to a conclusion, he would ask Hermione what she thought on the matter and things went from there. Hermione never forced her opinions or believes on him, she simply said what she thought with facts to back everything up. Talks about bigotry, corruption and such was very much appreciated by me. I loved how sweet, loving, caring, protective, appreciative and so good he was despite everything bad he had to do. It was very difficult to read some things he had to do but overall their romance was strong and it made everything worth it. There was some teasing regarding pegging ( 3 times) and it didn't happened... I was certain it wouldn't happen because authors like to be a teases but i still had my hopes up because both Hermione & Draco were very much into the idea of doing it. I loved this one and i can't wait to read more Dramione. My OTP for life. 🥰
reading Dramione fan fiction it’s a wormhole i’ve never thought i would fall into.
honestly, Manacled was at fault. i still haven’t found one that reached that incredible masterful brilliant level, but this hole is entertaining as hell and i have this strong weird pull to those two as a pairing, so i can’t help but start a new one once in a while.
this wasn’t my favorite, but i’ve read it from beginning to end (even if i skimmed a little in the last 10%) and that’s a lot for an easily book dropper like me.
i would have loved more action in the middle though, sometimes it felt a little too long for my liking. however, the characterization, the smut, the angst and the slow burn were good, and that’s what i’m here for.
I enjoyed some of the changes from book 7. I really liked it in the beginning then it felt like it started to drag and I was just ready for it to finish up. Dramione forever and always.
So good. It has a been a LONG time since I have read such a good dramione war fic.
✅well written ✅Pretty dark. Although I prefer my Draco darker ✅I enjoyed their day trip so much!! ✅I love Tonks and I was very happy with her character development in this fic. ✅As always Ron was an absolute useless and enraging git. ✅Favorite version of Shacklebolt! I really enjoyed his political reasoning. ✅ Ginny and Theo were perfect. Best humour. ✅ Loved the healers crew ✅ Yasmine was top tier. A great character addition I had not read yet
❌ I was disappointed by some fade out scenes, like the gringotts one ❌ slut shaming of Lavender (again) ❌ THE FANART I also have mixed feelings about the endings chapters.
This fic ends on my top 5 dramione.

This is going in my top five list. It’s soooo good. TW- gore, violence, mentions of rape, bordering non-con smut scenes (there are warnings before each chapter to check the TW’s) and dub-con smut scenes. There’s some elements of the non-con (it’s not really non con but close to it) that I had to skip though but really that’s the only thing I can complain about. This was a good fic. I found myself getting frustrated with some characters but boy did the author know what they were doing. Trust the process. The arcs of each character is incredible. I’m obsessed with how this rounded out. Fuck it’s so good. Just read it.
DNF @ 48%. Great concept, not so great execution. I had been bored throughout the entire story up to this point, but pushed through to see if the moment they finally got together would be worth it. It wasn’t. The buildup was unnatural, and the characters shifted from canon compliant to just outlandish in a blink of an eye without any sort of explanation. The writing just wasn’t great.
Wish I could have stuck it through to finish, but after ~500 pages of being bored, I just came to the conclusion that there’s a lot of other fics waiting for me on my TBR that would probably be more worth my time.
Taking down bigotry with a Monet painting? Check. Actively discussing the dynamics of guilt, redemption, and forgiveness? Check.
This work really had quite a few brilliant moments. The pace was fast, making it hard to put down. The author’s fun and witty personality was clearly reflected in the characters, which at times made the character feel off and a little cheesy. However, the more I thought about it, the more I didn’t mind. In a way, it made this work unique as I know feel like I know now this author through her characters and discussions surrounding morality. Overall, fantastic story of espionage, the ramifications of hate, and the process of changing one’s worldview.
I feel absolutely no shame about my rating. Určitě patří do mých top5.
This is a very long story, this is a great version of another version of the seventh book! I liked it, especially the first half, all the intrigue, how everything swirls in their relationship. I love the slow development of relationships. Dramione forever ❤️
Basically living in the flashback 3rd of Mancled, but it takes place after 5th during the Horcrux hunting not post BoHW. It is fun and well done but gratuitous in length in places and frustratingly inconsistent. Solid slow burn and spice tho!!
