The demons of Alexis Harper's childhood have turned her into the one person she hated and loved the most - her alcoholic father. She has no use for love because he had no use for her. Being with Chris helps Alexis find the woman she has always wanted to be... one who can receive and give love. Will she have the strength to fix what was broken when a setback derails their relationship? Will Chris be able to recognize the love hidden beneath his hurt and move past it? Can they find the strength in each other to reach for a chance at real happiness?

Thanks for visiting my profile. I'm a new Contemporary Romance author and I'm so excited about the possibilities. I've been falling in love with characters in books for a long time, and even more so now that they are speaking through me for other readers.

I've been remiss in updating my shelves but I'll be doing that soon, so check out some of my favorite reads, including some that I've read over and over because, yeah, they're just that good.

I'd love it if you'd add my books to your TBR shelf. If you want to find out more about me, click over to my website: http://www.nancystopper.com

I have so loved this series. Alexis is the last to find her happiness, but it has been a long road for her. I can’t imagine finding out that I had a sister from one of my father’s affairs. Especially since Alexis never felt like she had her father’s love and wanted it so bad. I am sure that all of her feelings helped in writing her novels. I was so glad to see Chris step in and help her one night. Chris is such a nice guy and has so many facets to his talents. I was heartbroken over what happened to his twin sister. I can’t imagine the closeness of a twin and seeing the horrible way she died. These two have so much baggage to face. I loved the ways they helped each other. As always, I enjoy catching up with the characters from previous books. Keep a Kleenex nearby especially for the end. They were happy tears, but tears none the less. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

The shadows of a broken heart finally get a chance to bask in the light. Chasing Strength is a look at the strength hope has and the healing power of love. Alexis has haunted the Harper family series with a heartbreaking consistency. We've watched her slowly implode and become the thing she hates most. An alcoholic. Her breakdown was painful to watch, but her comeback is an inspiration. She finally finds a reason to smile and a heart to call her own. From tragedy to happily ever after is a long road to travel, but a beautiful journey to behold. Well done, Nancy Stopper.

First, I want to thank Nancy Stopper for providing me this book so I could bring you this review.

Chasing Strength is the perfect name for Nancy Stopper’s Book 4 of A Harper Family Romance. This is a must-read book as it is the best she has ever written. She dug deep this time around into some difficult subjects and brought some raw emotions out into her characters. Plus, she threw in a little mystery this time around. Nancy needs to write more books like this. She has major talent in this genre.

Nancy focused on family in this book too on many levels. Many different situations and how it effected each family member. Some took it harder than others. Many of the stories could trigger readers. Even though I personally never went through them they were difficult to read. Nancy made you feel that you were going through the same thing. Many times, I wanted to reach out and hug the character. I can’t imagine anyone going through that.

My all-time favorite character in this book (and new book boyfriend) is Chris. I could tell that Nancy was very passionate when she wrote about this character. He was a rescuer, a sweetheart, a protector, a supporter, a perfect gentleman, etc. He was there for Alexis when nobody else was there.

One aspect I absolutely loved the similarities that Chris and Alexis had career wise. Chris is a reporter and Alexis is an author whom writes psychological thrillers. That is my favorite genre to read so I had to smile a little.

This is the fourth story in the Harper Family series. In this series, we get a glimpse of how family dynamics (or more importantly, patents’ actions) effect all of those family members differently. Sometimes things that happen within a family leave lasting scars on each family member, it its own way. Each story touches on how their lives have been shaped by those actions.

This story is about Alexis (fourth Harper sibling) and Chris Kennedy. They meet one another at a difficult time in their lives.

For Alexis, her deceased father’s behavior has led her to question her own self-worth. She has been somewhat reckless and, as much as she hated it, her habit of turning to alcohol mimicked her father’s.

Chris Kennedy is dealing with his own tragic memories. Ironically, Chris meets Alexis when she appears to be in a similar situation that his sister, Robin, might have been before she was killed. Chris steps in and soon he and Alexis are feeling a strong connection.

But can it last? Have both healed enough from the demons in their pasts to move on and begin a relationship together?

This is an emotional story. As with the other stories in this series, the characters have so much depth and dimension that their pain and grief jumps out as you read their story. They becomes your friends and you want them to be ok. This story really pulls you in!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

I loved Alexis and Chris's story. They both had their own personal demons that needed to be dealt with together and separately. Needing help to get to where you want to be and excepting that is a big thing. Nancy Stopper draws you in and keeps you engaged from beginning to end. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Chasing Strength means admitting you need it...

Alexis, though, won’t let anyone see her as weak. This story takes us through some scary and emotional times for Alexis, but her close knit family will always support her if she will let them. Reading this book is like total immersion into her headspace and she has so many “feels”. Then along comes Chris with some heavy baggage of his own. Instant attraction brings them together but they have to work hard for their HEA and it is a touching and heartbreaking yet satisfying read.

The fourth book in the Harper Family series is very emotional. Two broken souls find each other and together they find the strength to heal each other. Alexis and Chris will grab your heart and take you on an emotional roller coaster. A beautiful story that shows how much of a difference love and genuine concern can make in someone's life. Grab some Kleenex because you'll need them. I read an advance reader copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review.

Great addition to this amazing series. With characters you cry and laugh with, Nancy stopper hits another sweet love story out of the park!

Ever since her father died three years ago Alexis has battled with the demons left over from their relationship. The anger she has held on to from the lies and secrets is beginning to destroy her life, as evident with her drinking and the distance she has put between herself and her family. A wake-up call after nearly blacking out from partying one night has her rethinking her life and the path she's chosen.

The gorgious and considerate man who safely brought her home and left her keys and things she'd dropped on the counter with a note with his number was very reminescent of the Chris Jenson song 'Take a Drunk Girl Home'. Makes me wonder if the song was the thought behind the book since our hero's name is Chris. It's a very popular and thought provoking song and great idea for a book.

I loved Chris's character. From fighting his own demons due to a loss no one wants to consider, to finally finding peace and happiness with a woman when he didn't think he could ever chance loving and losing again, Chris has become a modern day super hero.

Alexis has a long way to go, still needing to work through how she deals with things that are emotionally difficult and I hope this is dealt with more thoroughly in the next book. Her drinking issues are a definite concern.

I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.

Alexis and Chris’s story was an emotional and wonderful story of two wounded and damaged people needing love to help them heal. I enjoyed Chasing Strength by Nancy Stopper, book four in her Harper Family series. Alexis Harper had allowed the demons and nightmares from her childhood to control and drive her life. She loved her alcohol father but hated him at the same time. She felt that he had no love for her so she was not only unable to love herself, but did not expect to ever find someone to love her. She was actually becoming an alcoholic, just like him. One night while out drinking a stranger saves her from a dangerous situation; which is actually her wake up call. Chris Kennedy has known only loss of the people he loved and loved him; his parents in a car accident and his twin sister in a horrific murder. When Chris meets Alexis and saves her at the bar he recognizes a kindred spirit, but reconsiders whether or not love is worth the risk.

I loved that Alexis was able to become the person she had always wanted to be; able to receive and return love. The problem is whether or not she is strong enough to avoid additional setbacks that derail her newfound sobriety as well as rebound from result it causes to her relationship with Chris. Chris also needs to discover his inner strength to take a chance on love and move past the affects love has left on his life.
Ms. Stopper wrote a wonderful, emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, filled with sexual chemistry, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters giving Alexis and Chris, two wounded and broken souls, a chance at finding real happiness. I highly recommend Chasing Strength to other readers.

Alexis has been struggling since her family found out about her father's other daughter Rachel. She has been distancing from her family and even her twin sister Serena. She has been partying and drinking too much and just unable to deal with her anger over the situation. One night her drinking nearly goes horribly wrong as night in shining armor Chris steps in to save her from an aggressive guy at the bar. Chris is at the bar trying to exercise his own demons over the death of his sister. Alexis calls him the next day to thank him and they end up meeting up. Can they work together to face their struggles and fears over developing a relationship? Can Alexis overcome what has been driving her to drink and party?
This is an excellently written story - I think it's my favorite of the series so far because as many of Nancy Stopper's books, it has something a little bit more and different from your typical romance HEA. This can be read without reading the other books in this series or the connected stories in the Oak Grove series but you would be missing out on some great books!

I received a free copy of the full length novel Chasing Strength A Harper Family Romance by Nancy Stopperand this review was given freely.
Healing, love, self empowerment and the need for closure are well depicted in this poignant and bittersweet conclusion to the steamy Harper siblings' romances.
Suspense thriller novelist Alexis meets local reporter Chris at a pivotal time in her life when depression and drinking place her in situation with the potential for date rape. This is an easy flowing steamy novel with wonderful characters and a happy ending but includes serious topics like date rape/murder, depression, alcoholism, and abuse which are balanced with happy Harper family scenes and social scenes with Alexis and Chris with their friends.

Simply Wonderful

Alexis Harper is a complicated woman, good at burying her depression and fragile heart behind a false smile, alcohol and men. Chris Kennedy has been relentless in his search for the murderer of his twin sister a year ago. Her body was found behind FitzGeralds, the only bar in town, and he’s not about to let it happen to another woman in Cedar Hill. Chris has had a lot of tragedy in his life, and loving someone only means heartache.

This is a complex and emotional read from a great story teller.

I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Alexis has been hiding from her demons all life, feeling as she didn’t belong. She is drinking too much and pushing her family away. Chris is determined to never love again after losing his parents in a car accident and her sister’s murder a year ago. When Alexis and Chris met, the attraction is strong but their feelings are deeper that they are ready to admit. Can they overcome their own demons and and have a future together? A strong love story.

This is an emotional heartbreaking story with Alexis who has turned into the last thing she wanted to be an alcoholic and Chris who is suffering the tragic lost of his twin sister and his parents in an accident. They both think they can't love again but when he rescues her she gets her act together and turns her life around just in time to remind him that he is capable to love. Lovely story!

This is a well-written story of a woman with a damaged spirit and a man with a wounded heart. Both Alexis and Chris have past events that have left them to feel that a relationship is not for them. Fate has a different idea. It's a rocky road for Alexis and Chris before they believe they deserve to find happiness together. Standalone but a wonderful series. No cliffhanger and HEA.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Nancy Stopper; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Alexis has been struggling for years. It's only gotten worse since it was confirmed that she and her siblings have a half-sister. She's spiraling and doesn't know how to stop. Enter Chris. He's just being a good guy. Making sure she gets home after a particularly rough night at the bar. But he can't just walk away without checking on her. The connection is there, but can they each move past their pasts in order to build a future together?

I really enjoyed Alexis and Chris' story! This has been a wonderful series and we finally get Alexis' story. This story is extremely well written and completely captivating. I love the characters and the plot. These two have their own struggles and demons they are fighting. Finding each other was meant to be. They are so perfect for each other with absolutely off the charts chemistry.

* I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own *

This is the story of Alexis Harper who has had a breakdown and become an alcoholic just like the father she didn’t want to be like. But when she is on one of her benders at a club she blacks out and a total stranger saves her from becoming the next rape victim.
Chris Kennedy is in the club and sees the altercation going on and jumps into save Alexis and takes her home to sleep off her drunken state.
Chris has had a hard time lately after finding that someone in the club may have known what happened to his sister who was found murdered and he will not stop until he finds whoever has done this, but see Alexis he feels that he can also have a relationship again and find love but both being broken as they are puts the relationship back.
Can Chris and Alexis move past their hurt and settle down with each other.
Another great story by Nancy Stopper and look forward to her next instalment.

Please tell me it is not so…. that this is the fours and final Harper sibling to find their happiness. I have totally and completely loved this series as this family finds there happiness after the struggles of their childhood. Alexis has been the one in the background with so many struggles and issues when it comes to her life and family for so long during these books that it was just a pleasure to finally get to her story. A story that had me glued to my kindle to the very end as the chemistry between her and Chirs steamed up the screen. This book can be read as a stand-alone or as part of this wonderful series it’s all up to you, but my recommendation is to read from book one to get the full effect of the Harper family. You can also read about Rachel Bennet in her book “One Last Chance” form another of Nancy stopper’s series “Oak Grove”
description
Nancy Stopper never disappoints me when I pick up one of her books, I always now I am in for a treat and hours of wonderful enjoyment. The style, flow and characters will warm your heart and break your heart all at once as they struggle with finding themselves during some difficult times of their lives. Do they have the strength to fight themselves, for others and find the piece they deserve?

Alexis Harper has always struggled with her father's behaviour and after his death, it only takes on a larger part of her life. Her father was an alcoholic and a cheater that had another child Rachel a half sister that Alexis has struggled to accept and get to know. Alexis’s family has been very concerned about the amount of drinking she has been doing lately. Was she turning into the man she hated but the same man she wanted love from….her Father?

“Stop feeling sorry for yourself, Alexis. She was so tired of the self-pity that cycled into depression and back to self-pity.”

Since the death of his sister, his sole mission and obsession in this life was to find her killer and make him pay for what he did before he did it again to some other female. He was with his mates at FitzGerald's when his eyes spotted her across the room and she didn’t look like she wanted to leave with the man at her side. All he could think of was stopping her from becoming like his sister a victim. He stopped the man from leaving with her and took her home himself to make sure she was safe. He wanted to see her again and that scared him.

“Oh, yeah, he was attracted to her all right. The minute he’d spotted her sitting at the table and she’d smiled up at him, his heart slammed in his chest. The pull he felt toward her roared like a lion.”

“He just didn’t know how to balance his attraction for Alexis with the fact that he didn’t think he had anything to offer her.”

Can one night change your life in an extremely positive way? That is what Alexis would ask herself as she got to know Chris over the coming weeks.

“ She’d meant it when she told Chris that something changed in her the night they met.”

“Being with Alexis calmed him in a way he hadn’t expected but craved more of.”
Damn, he was turning into a freaking romantic.”

Will the hurt of the past stop them from finding the happiness of their future?

Will heart-break dictate there lives completely?

These two had a lot in commend but could they fight the demons to find their happiness?
