What a great start to this series. Evangeline Parker, American, a widow and a Countess arrives with her chauffeur and bodyguard at her friend the Duke of Hetherington estate only to be met with gunshots, but is she the target or the Duke, a weekend house party provides a lot of suspects for her and her chauffeur to investigate. Infidelity, inheritance and murder. A super 1920's country house mystery with excellent period details and attitudes.
After the House party affair Evie settles into life at her own estate only to become a suspect when an afternoon tea guest is poisoned. Together with Tom she endeavours to clear her name. Secrets, infidelity and pies. A great fun box set of what looks like being a fine fun series. Pearl Hewitt does a fine job with the narration although her accents slip occasionally. Highly recommended

The first story, House Party Murder Rap, would be a 4-star but the second, although okay, wasn't quite as good. Pearl Hewitt did a fine job narrating the various characters. I will try another in the series because I'm hopeful of the character development as well as a nice cozy 1920s mystery.
