This is surprisingly very violent. Also, hate that they’re like if man stays pure and doesn’t fall into the traps of women then by 30 they become this ultimate warrior, gross
This series is now in print in English in my region so I don't have to wait as long to finish a volume. This arc has been going well so far. My only issue so far is the pacing of the events and Tokiyuki letting one of his opponents go free.
A really good volume following the continuing war. Tokiyuki wants to feel useful and is one of Yorishige’s messengers which leads to entertaining conflict and the return of an old foe!
Like all of EluSam it's a great volume. But as we get farther and farther into EluSam it becomes more and more military and war focused (which makes sense historically). These parts aren't my favorite as they can get bogged down with maps and lengthy dialogue boxes explaining the tactics, strategies, and all the other stuff that goes on. But its still good. It starts on a high note by continuing Tokiyuki's investigation. These chapters are great and the situation is fun to read. There's a bunch of fun dialogue as Tokiyuki evades questions combined with great visual imagery as the questions become arrows show back and forth. We then get into the less great three-fort battle arc (I forget what its actually called). Again, these military portions aren't my fancy. I understand the maps and tell don't show parts are there to keep the battle at a quick pace as the lesser of two evils. But, I still kinda glaze over and find them a bit confusing and uninteresting. We do get fun characters like the virgin warrior and Ayako's Dad along with the return of the best EluSam villains It's hard to have a bad arc when it's features some of the most entertaining villains the series has to offer… and lol. The war part is made more entertaining by Tokiyuki getting to do some "elusive" stuff. Instead of just being a part of the battle the Elusive Samurais . You also get the which is such a kooky and fun obstacle and so in-line with the character.
This volume gave me less serious kingdom vibes. It's still pretty cool to see the back and forth tho. I wish they had just beheaded the leader in the cart tho.
